Rise and shine. It is cloudy and snowing a bit here today.

I rose. But there is no shining..inside or out. It is over cast today but at least it is not snowing again.

Well, here we need some snow...before the extreme freezing temps hit. It has been a strange Winter so far, it snows then melts or rains and everything is covered in ice. I just scraped up as much snow as I could to bank around the house....it took me over two hours just to gather the snow.

Lovely here today. Cold but sunny. Little to no wind. I love this type of weather. Our temps are rising this week which may mean we're in for severe weather as in tornados.

Got my hair cut today for the first time in 2 months. My person had a baby and is only working 2 days a week and really doesn't want to cut hair any more at all and my hair shows it. Gapped up a bit here and there. I hate looking for a new hair person. My hair is thick and wavy and is not easy to cut straight.

I'm working all day tomorrow. First time in a few week and I'm not looking forward to it. You guys post a lot tomorrow so if I have time to get on here I'll have something to read.

Will do, Sheri...I hope you find a new hairdresser be soon. It is a pain for sure.

Bestofour, that is why I learned to cut my own hair. I was tired of coming home from a paid cut having to re-cut it myself. I hope the weather does not turn severe for you.

Today is a clean and mop day....there are tree needles everywhere.

The sun is out and the temps are above freezing. I sure hope that it melts some of the snow...at least off of the roads.

The roads are a mess here but I have no where to go. I am catching up on laundry...I swear it multiplies in the hamper.

Rod and I were talking about laundry. If we go nowhere and do not do much, so do not change our clothes every day..and there are just 2 of us, just where does all the laundry come from?

Another overcast day here.

It snowed only about 4 inches but I am leaving it sit because we are supposed to get melting temps tomorrow....I do not need a sheet of ice in my driveway. What a strange Winter it has been, the weather of 2022 was certainly unpredictable.

The weather guy here says he has been here 9 years of and in that time, we have had weather in like we have been having lately. I thought with this being further south the weather would be warmer. I do remember before the kids arrived. Valarie & her DH had to spend the night at her inlaws because of the weather...so I guess this type of weather does happen this far south.

It was very warm here yesterday and today. No coat kind of weather. I think rain is supposed to be coming in.

I've almost got the Christmas stuff ready to put up. I figured I needed to do it while the children are out of school so I can call them to help me.

Tomorrow is the last farmers market until April. Not sure from where I'm gonna get my eggs.

I lived in Worden Illinois for many many years. It is about 45 minutes NE of St Louis. I Now live about 15/20 minutes south of Cape Girardeau, MO. So I am now about 2-1/2 hours SW of where I used to live. Basically the same hardiness zone as home but my SIL does plant his garden earlier that I did at home. (Illinois will always be home. This is just where I live now.)

Once upon a Time, a long time ago I built this forum so that my friends could share their thoughts, ideas, and friendly banter. Those were the good old days since then I haven't been well I lost Cedar Hill and and my websites. My hospital bills exceeded a million dollars because I spent months in coma after they brought me out I had to relearn to walk talk and breathe. Some of the members here thought that I shouldn't have sold and given away the websites but when your brain doesn't work anymore sometimes you have no choice. I apologize to anyone who thinks I let them down.. Happy New Year!

Hello everyone. It is 61*F here today...and foggy...there is a chance for us to get tornadoes and other severe weather today/tonight.
Rod took me out for coffee before it got bad.....

And on another good note my egg man is going to meet me every other week until April so I can pick up eggs.

Bought a loaf of the worst tasting bread at the farmers market on Saturday. I've tried to eat it but it's going in the trash.

It is dreary looking today and everything is covered in ice. I need to make a trip locally to get a few things at the store but I'll wait until tomorrow so I can take DH's truck.

Sunny. The coffeehouse had these miniature danish things..the filling was about the size of a quarter, so not very big.. but it was good.

When you are out, Sunny, please get me some grapes and bananas would you ?

Well I can afford to buy you bananas....but not the grapes, sorry. Bananas are the only fresh fruit being bought in this household lately. I paid over $8 for a 3 pound bag of basic apples for GG last week, that is just wrong.

They say 7% for us, mind you they lied saying that it was only 11% in the past year. Prices in stores jumped at least 25% and more. Canned tomatoes jumped 100%.

Yes about prices..as an example. A few years ago, I could buy Jiffy mix 3 for a dollar on on sale. Before the local store here closed I had to pay $1.29 for one....

Junie, I've taken down my Christmas stuff and yesterday I noticed one lonely card still taped to the french door. It was from you I went through all my Christmas containers and found cards from Chermoni, Cindy, Plants N Pots (Lynne I think), Sherri, Wrennie and all sorts of other old timers. Wonder where they all are these days.

.and talk to each sometimes. Sherri used to come in periodically.

Just a note to say I am still here, just not very active lately. broke my ankle and that took a long time to heal ... then was off on trip to see one of the grandsons inducted into the army... got to see youngest one too.. second oldest stayed home to watch the dogs..he doesn't like traveling much so probably was the best for him... will try and get here more often ...
Haven't done much else around here... hubby does the grocery shopping , since I am more at risk of covid and crap he took that over... to many people here don't believe in the shots ....

Will come by more often.....

Hi Nana. Sorry about your ankle and I'd like your husband to buy groceries for me too. I don't like grocery shopping.

It's gotten bitter cold (to me anyway) again but I like it. What I don't like is the wind that's come with the cold. Until today my spring plants were blooming but they'll bloom again when it's time.

INana, SO happy to have see you ! Very sorry about the ankle, but so happy that you have lots of good help. I think it is good that your hubby does the grocery shopping. For some reason I am coughing again.
I had a nice day out yesterday with my daughter and her 3 girls. And as a bonus, I got to see my sister. So yay!

Oh no Junie. I'm allergic to the ingredient in cough medicine that works so I'm in trouble if I get a cough that lingers. Have you tried Guaifenesin?

Yes. An expectorant. Not even a suppressant will help my coughing..these coughs are due to allergies. I take Flonase..but try not to use it for a long time as I do not care for one of the side effects. I cannot take decongestants and I shy away from antihistamines. So I took an in a bad place.

I think it does too, Sunny. I often do not see how 2 people who wear clothes more than one day in a row can generate so much laundry. At least you have a short person going to school that uses lots of clothes.

Do you guys know what GoodReads is? It's a forum for book readers to get ideas for books to read and discuss books. I have had an interesting thing happen. I'm in a discussion with 4 other people about Death on the Nile. This is the first time I've had any interaction with any of these people so I know nothing about them and they know nothing about me BUT that's usually the way it is. Generally people on GoodReads don't become friends and discuss their families and jobs and such.

So, we were discussing one of the characters in the book and I posted "in this day and age Jacqueline would be called a stalker. She seems like a nut case."

When I logged in last night Nora had quoted me and posted:

As a disabled person, I take offense at the term “nut case”. Therefore, I can no longer continue being in a group that uses this term. I’m very sorry that people still think that this is an okay term to use. I’m sorry again."

The other people have ignored her post and continued on with the discussion. I have the ability to delete my post and hers and started to do that, but although I'm sorry she took offense, I said what I meant and don't intend to run my every post by her. I looked up the nutcase in the dictionary (it's actually one word instead of two) and the definition is a person who acts crazy or foolishly and this character in the book is acting both crazy and foolish.

What are your thoughts?

Well. Hopefully I am allowed to say this here. But to me it seems that 1) there is always someone around that will take offense with what someone else has said. 2) what you said was really not so offensive (to me anyway,) and was your opinion. Perhaps in the future say IMO before you save something on social media ?

Well Bestofour, I am boosted and am on day 12 of still being sick as a dog yet GG was only mildly sick for two days, DH for three. I guess it is a hit or miss on how it affects people.

I use the term 'nut case' probably every day, in fact that is my nickname for GG.
