Speaking of onions, which I don't eat, I was at my friends house last night and she has entire wire basket of big onions. She says she grows through 4 or 5 onions a week. She cooks a lot. I'll bet I haven't cut up 4 or 5 onions in my whole adult life.

I dont love onions as much as Sunny, but I love onions. I wish I would learn how to make a blooming onion. But I will buy onion rings if/when I am out to eat. Not that I get to do that much anymore. There is one mom & pop restaurant here is Scott City, and perhaps one or 2 in bars in Cape..then one in Jackson. It is quite sad really. But more so now with Covid....at home I only go thru like 1 - 2 onions a week. And if I can find them, I use vidalia or what is labled here as " Sweet"

Sunny, I do love green peas. I opened a can and sprinkled them on my salad today. I like them hot, cold, or straight out of the garden.
It has rained and been yucky here all day. I need to work in the yard a little bit so I'm hoping it dries up some this week.
We're not hearing much about Covid around here anymore and the mask rules will be lifted as of 2/26.

I love a good can of baby peas......but my DH is not a fan of peas, so unless I find a small 8 oz can, I do not get to eat peas.

Well, the sun is shining and the coffee was hot....but the cold winds are terrible. Junie, I have only made a blooming onion once because we can't get the large vidalia onions anywhere now. You just slice through it in sections not cutting through the very bottom, soak it in cold water to expand it...shake it and coat it in flour, shake it off and dip it into your batter and deep fry. I just use flour, baking powder, salt and pepper and ice cold water to make my batter. Now I am craving it. I hope you get your drier weather Bestofour.

I have 2 girls..but back when they were growing up I knew a lady with 2 sons. (our kids were in High School) Anyway, when her boys would stay after school for sports practice, and she drove to pick them up, she would have to bring a cooler full of sandwiches for them for the 20 minute ride home....Then the ate a large supper. Ah, grandsons. Val only has the one boy...but now Emily has 3. I guess they will be in sad shape here in a few years. Val's son was eating a lot for awhile, but now he pretty much just be eats to what you give him. I have no idea about the 3 on the east coast....time will tell I guess.

It is night again. I am at my childhood hometown visiting my family and friends. AND if it is not too muddy, I will get to visit my mom thru a picture window in her room. She is in a facility to get therapy for her cracked pelvis. AND they have a case of Covid, so we cannot actually go into the facility itself. However I did hear it thundering a bit, so we will see.

Junie, did your mother fall? That must be painful. 4 of the residence at my mothers place have COVID even though all staff and residence are fully vaccinated. Thankfully my mother doesn’t and hasn’t had it.
I cleaned out my raised beds this weekend. I’ll post pictures in the garden section.

They found out that mom moat likely has a displaced fracture in her pelvis (they originally thought she had a cracked pelvis, but she was still in pain and so they began checking into it more.) Poor lady wants to go home or perhaps just around the block so she can have a cigarette. Tonight, thru the window she said she wants to go home to get away from the covid there. They DO have it but all covid patients and their caregivers are isolated to one of 4 halls, and all residents stay in their rooms. But it still worries her. Add on: it is now 11:12 pm. I am dreaming of Bestofour's gardens.
We got another two feet of snow in the last 36 hours. You can only see the top of my roof from the road...which needs to be shoveled so really all one can see is snow.
Yesterday I kept getting a '522 Cloudfare time out' message on here and could not get in at all.

Good grief Sunny. I’m down here with the a/c on. Can’t even imagine all that snow. I’ve found out one thing about myself. I’m not cut out to be able to retire to Florida and live am aimless life ( sort of ). I’ve got to be at least a little bit busy with something other than laying by the pool and riding a bike. If you hang around with old people all the time you start acting like an old person. I’ll be so happy to get home.

I tend to agree with you on that, Sheri. But as someone who lives in a colder area, I think I could be talked into living say in Florida from after Christmas until the end of February.. You know to avoid the snow and ice. I will say goodnight now..sweet dreams

I guess Junie would like to be a 'Snow Bird' as well. I don't know where I'd want to spend the worst of the Winter but I don't think it would be in Florida...as much as I hate the snow, I dislike too much heat as well. I am glad that you have things figured out Bestofour. Relaxation has its time when needed but a body has to be active to keep oneself sane and healthy. Our storm has been down graded to half of what it was calling for, it will make for an easier day tomorrow with the clean up.

I will say though, without the daily living stress to plague these people, they are very nice and laid back. Nothing is done in a hurry (which would take some time to get used too) and they seem happy.

Yes, they are happy..at least the lady I knew from ceramics that used to winter down south, was. She would tell us of all that they would do with other friends of hers from there...Sounded to me as if they were all on permanent vacation.

Good morning, rise and shine.
I am on snow moving duty today. The banks are so high around my house that I am running out of room to put it all. My hand snow blower cannot reach the top of the banks anymore to put the snow up there....it keeps falling back down. I guess it is time to leave it fill in and create a claustrophobic atmosphere. I am so glad that April is around the corner.

I had to have my dog put to sleep Tuesday so I left that house and came here. I'm not sure when I'll go back. Really nothing there for me anymore.

I am So very sorry for your puppy, Sheri. I know first hand how hard that is.
Now, in regards to where you live, we moved down by one of our daughters, when Rod retired. Sometimes it is best to be by a child. For my part, I think you might think about finding a house by Ginger. I know for me it was the right move.

On that note Carol, I haven't mentioned another horrible thing. Ginger's family is moving to Mississippi when school is out. It's 12 hours from me by car and from the looks of things on Google MS is a horrible place to live. Chris has taken a job as head master of a much larger school than where they are now so I'm sure it's lots more $$$ but as one of my friends said "it's not worth $50,000.00 more a year to move to MS" or I would definitely be looking to move down here. I'll be surprised if they like it there but he's signed a 5 year contract.

Oh my goodness, Sheri..I am so sorry. Perhaps you can find a place to rent part time by where Ginger and her family are moving to.
It takes us 2 days to drive to our other DD's on the east coast. We have not been there in years. I thank goodness for Skype. I completely understand your conundrum.

The snow was so heavy yesterday that I broke the impellor belt on the snow blower. I hope it doesn't snow any amount for a week or so until I get to pick up the new one.
It is cold and dreary today....it was a good day to give the house a scrubbing and mopping.

The belt had to be ordered Junie, so I have no choice but to wait until it arrives at the hardware store. They are calling for a snow storm this Friday....I guess I'll have to use the tractor. (I dislike the blower on it but I'll have no choice but to use it).
I might go to the local grocery today to get some fresh fruit and veggies.
I wonder where Tina is????

Sorry the belt was not just lying on the shelf, Sunny. But then it will be fresh and ready to go this way, huh ?? Good thing it is not the start of winter.

I haven't been to the Farmer's Market in years. I really need to try go this year. Here it is only on a Saturday from 9 to 1.

We have 2 or 3 towns in the area that have farmer 's Markets in the area. And thankfully they are on different days. I think they will begin some time in May.. and yes they begin around 8 and go until noon or so.
and BTW I too wonder where Tina is.

Ah k, our market goes year round.
They are calling for a 4 day storm starting Thursday night....the new neighbors are fed up already. I'd never move without researching the area first.

Oh my...well I feel sorry for the neighbors, but I would like to think they would be used to the weather to some extent..
Sorry for the 4 day storm...I guess you had better try to go out for the fresh fruit and veggies are that you need.

Nope, just wanted out of the city after retirement. They shopped for their house online and bought site-unseen. Personally, if I had to move....I'd move to Prince Edward Island.
I have no choice but to give in and go for groceries today. The storm is starting after Supper and will continue with messy weather until Sunday evening.

About your neighbors... Well I feel sorry for them, but as you say, they shoukd have researched the area...I bet they have not even thought of the upkeep associated with all the snow & such that you get.

I am home Junie...it was a quick trip. The neighbors knew of someone in the lower part of my province and thought the weather was the same....but the top(where I live) to the bottom(where the acquaintance lives of the province jumps 3 gardening zones. We have at least 6 to 10 feet of snow everywhere...the lower part has less than a foot now.

School was cancelled today for meetings, then we get the call that the meetings are cancelled as well due to the weather. That means they might make Monday the day of meetings. At this rate the kids have a 4 day weekend ahead.
It might be good though since half the kids have Covid, there was also a case of Chicken Pox. I haven't heard of that disease in awhile but the child got it from her Aunt having shingles from Covid.
I think I'll catch up on some laundry today.

I went for a walk today. Now I am waiting for the kids to arrive. Rest at this point of the day is a good thing.

Yes, my oldest daughter, Shelley, and her 3 children live 16 miles down the road from me so I'm not alone. I will adjust one way or the other. Sunny, is it still snowing? spring is definitely here and so is the pollen. The pollen usually isn't this bad this early but it's here. Thankfully yellow is my favorite color.  Our farmers market opens next weekend but I'll be at Ginger's so I'll miss it. In years past it's stayed open all year but closed for a few months this winter for some reason.

Bestofour, it is still snowing...non stop. There is about 6 to 8 ft of snow in the fields and such but the banks in our yards and along the roads are 12 to 15 ft in places...it is a discouraging sight. I am glad that you have family close by.

By nope...well I need to finish a small project straightening up some of my landscaping edging. Then We will go to church tomorrow...that is a big deal as we have not been very often due to covid...that is it...and yes, my life is exciting, huh ???

It has cooled off a bit here and the wind is non stop but still better weather than poor Sunny. I'd like to work in the yard but the wind has made that impossible.

How is the garden planting going Bestofour? Junie. I had landscaping edging many moons ago. It was the black stuff with the round rolled edge. I put it in one Summer...and pulled it all out the next spring. It was a horror to deal with from the frost heaving it right out of the ground. I still have not gotten my blower belt yet and yesterday the tire on the tractor blew. Today it is storming again....and Sunny is giving up on Winter.

Yes about the frost heaving such. I miss my colored brick edging at home. Free bricks in 4 colors and I just.but them in the ground on one end to keep them in place. Never any heaving. Oh how I miss those..them and my fescue grass. I am done with that bit of landscaping. I will add some hostas and perhaps a columbine. I have to put flowers in somewhere after all.

My sister and I went to see my mother today. She was very with it and we went to lunch and took her and bought her 2 pair of shoes. The weather was sunny but cold and windy.
