Enjoy your snow Bestofour, the kids must be excited.

I am watching the news this morning. Massachusetts ended up with 77 cm(over two feet) of snow in one town with this storm, their city is a mess...houses are flooded from rising waters. It is so sad.

We'll end up with about 40 inches here but we are used to such storms...I feel so bad for the people who are suffering with this 'weather bomb'.

Junie, are you and Rod feeling better today?

Kitchen sink? I hope it is nothing too serious.

It was Sharon, Massachusetts that they were talking about....they already put up a link on Wikipedia about it. I seen the real coverage on our Weather Network station, it is a channel about weather news 24/7. I get caught up watching it at times.

Oh my goodness..I just went and read the article...thanks for the link.

Rod just decided to change the O ring in the sprayer on the sink. So far so good. He says if it leaks some place else, there are 3 other O rings to replace. So that is where we are now.

Washing clothes......golly my life is exciting.

Good morning! Freezing weather is coming in a day or so. I hope they are " mistaken".

Nora is spending the day here today as she now has the cold.

She says she feels good. If she has a fever it is low grade, so there is that at least. They have to stay home 24 hours after their fever goes away.

It is 63*F outside..tomorrow night there is.to be an ice storm and sub zero temps. Soon we.will all have pneumonia.

It's a good thing that I went yesterday...we are covered in a sheet of ice at the moment. It warmed up enough to change to freezing rain just as the bus was picking up GG. It is going to change to snow tonight with another storm for tomorrow though.

I seen on the news this morning that Bloomington, Illinois got a bad storm as well. Is it near where your family lives, Junie?

Sunny, we are about 4-5 hours south of Bloomington, IL. It is very cold here..with sllet, snow and ice. We are on the line of snow and ice. So staying home is a good idea. It is days like this that make Rod glad he retired and can stay home.

Our problem will be power outage. And we have no generator. Talk to the boy..apparently we do not need one..why we can put stuff outside. I hope he has fun, Carol is not doing that.

We're pretty cold here, too. Not by Sunny's standards but by mine. My ideal temp is between 75 -85 degrees F. It's been a lovely winter so far. But it's cold. Low 40s now.

I am so glad that you are only at 40. Sorry for you but yet glad it is no colder yet.

Here it is 24*F but feels like it is 12*F. Icy and snowy to boot. To get colder over night.the kids and their mom have no school tomorrow.

Good night all sweet dreams.

That is cold for your area Tina, do you still have wood heat to keep you warm?

Junie, I hope the weather from Illinois does not creep down to you. There is no school today from the storm, anywhere from 6 inches to over a foot. They can't get it wrong with those kind of predictions.

Glad there is no school for GG, Sunny. Good to keep her home where you know she is warm and safe.
My DD and my grands do not have school either. I am glad of that. The roads are bad yet today...and from what the forecasters are saying the weather will be the same Saturday and possibly Sunday. Time will tell.

They finally sent the kids home with a 'snow day' booklet for working on days like this. It is just worksheets stapled together but it is better than nothing.

I made pork meatballs this morning and I now have them simmering in a green pepper/spaghetti sauce mixture. It smells delicious in here. lol

If Tina is getting groceries than I'll take some fresh fruit. It is hard to find and too expensive to buy here....I am craving fresh berries.

I hope you get out to get your errands finished Junie.

They are calling for another storm tonight into tomorrow. I just got all the roofs finished with a full shoveling yesterday so it will be an easier storm to deal with this time around. The funny thing is that I have my new neighbor in a panic when I'm on the roofs....she stays in the window the whole time watching me in case I'd fall. She is a real sweetheart and proving to be an excellent new addition to our little area.

Sunny, you tell your neighbor thanks for me. I will worry less since I know someone is watching out for you. kissie

Well I will not get out to get a little something for my grandsons in Virginia. But there is hope for my grands that live here.

HINT: never move into a house that has a hilly driveway. It is not a good move.

Sorry about the driveway Junie...when will Rod be able to start driving again?

Maybe your daughter or SIL could pick up something from you for the grands? GB called last week to find out if I 'made it to the pharmacy' to get him something for Valentine's Day. lol

It is storming again and school is cancelled once more. I always said that February has the shortest amount of days but always proves to be the longest month of the year.

Good morning.

Sunny, wel! I used the internet to help. The kids here will have something here before the 14th. My Virginia grands will get a bit of cash and some hard candy that I had on hand. I asked their mom twice about what kinds of candy I could send..and I got no response..so cash it is. I may send the youngest a pink plastic car that I had on hand.

On a good note, you can see places in my yard this morning.

Hi all,

I know I am practically never here... have been ill with some bug... again.. not covid but nasty and all I wanted to do was sleep...even hubby felt crappy and he is never sick... I finally got on comp to pay bills... and decided to let you all know I am not dead just didn't care for awhile if I died... I think if we didn't have out dog I wouldn't have gotten out of bed to do anything.. but had to feed and water him and let him out.. only time I wished we had a doggy door..LOL!

Well have to make sure I paid all the bills I needed to... and hopefully on time... if not oh well ..
Hope all is well with all of you and will try and get back sooner and more often now..
Nana

GG has her second vaccine appt. this afternoon after school.

I should be shoveling out my windows but I think I will take an easier day today and leave it until tomorrow. It's not like it is going anywhere. haha

Good plan, Sunny. And if it does " magically " go somewhere, so much the better, idea

Also so glad that GG has her appointment for her vaccination. Better to get such things done.

I may make a shopping trip run today...

The daffodils are blooming here and they're beautiful. The yellow is happy to look at.

Sunny, we can think of Sheri's daffodils and know that our turn is coming...it may take awhile, but our turn will come. For niw, we can be happy for her.
And Tina, I bet you will get your spring soon as well, won't you ??

At least I hear birds once in awhile now.

I haven't seen too many birds in my yard this Winter, probably because we cut down ALOT of the trees around the house.

I have been shoveling out windows, it is 32*F right now....a beautiful day.

Our yard has been full of birds all winter, even bluebirds. I don't know what's going on with them. bluebirds will start building their nests next month so we'll have some babies soon.

One day of rain this week.. I look forward to any water that falls, I don't have a single daff in my yard and no other spring flowers. They have all dried up and died from drought. Even the native trees and shrubs aren't blooming. So many have died.
Sweet creams all.

Tina, sorry to hear about the lack of water. The world is in such a mess when it comes to the climate.

I just got in from the last of the shoveling, I can see out every window...for a week or two anyway.

I have been sad about our trees for a long time We have plants hundreds around the ranch. It makes me feei a little less bad about the sale of our property. They are busy removing almost all of the rest of them for their big parking lot.
Good night all.

Hello, Just popping in. I think of this forum far more often than I've been on over the past few years.
The longer days make my thoughts turn more to my little gardens, even though they are buried under yesterdays dump of snow. About a foot or so now.
Kids were not thrilled about me turning off the TV and sending them out to play. But come on that what a Snow Day is for, isn't it?

Hi Shani, nice to have you back with us.

I am going on strike today....I am wondering if someone else will shovel out my windows? Any takers? lol

IMO a strike is an excellent idea. That way your family will quickly learn what all you do for them.

I will send my DH over. That will be a two-fer. You will get your windows dug out, and he will not be here for awhile. bow

What a surprise to see that Shani posted. I still have spring flowers from seeds that she sent me years ago.

Just don't tell what's in the package. Small things are often missed. I don't remember sending seeds but sounds like something I would do. I can barely remember yesterday let alone years ago. With three kids running around here my mind gets turned around daily.

lol Kids will do that to you.

My post office is very strict, they want to know exactly what is in a package but one could probably send them in a card without having to declare what is in it.

Shani, What part of Ontario is Mulmur located? I have family from Trenton to Kitchener there.

I like watching the documentaries on Netflix. Last night I watched one about Boeing. Interesting. Right now I'm watching Aurora Teagarden - silly but I like it.

Aurora Teagarden is one of the 4 I wanted to watch. I recorded it and after " All Creatures Great and Small" was over I watched it.
The documentary about Lincoln was on for a second time after I watched Aurora, but I was tired, so I am hoping I can get it "On Demand" in the next day or so.

Sleep Well my friends.

I go to bed early so I am very thankful that I can set shows to record...I'd never get to watch them any other way. lol

It is Family Day here with a storm to follow tomorrow. Between the holidays, weather and Covid....it is a hit or miss for the kids to have a chance to go to school lately.

Well see, I had 4 shows to watch and I can only record 2 at a time...and when I am recording 2 I have to be watching one of the 2 (or not watch TV at all) So I recorded Aurora Teagarden and Rod's " All Creatures Great and Small" in case something happened and we did not get to watch it all. He waits all week to watch it and last night was the season finale.

I had been living Just north of Mansfield, in a big old schoold house, but due to a series of unfortunate events we ended up having to sell that place. After that we bought a seasonal trail and camped for the summer, travelled that winter (pre-covid) Camped again for the summer, then settled down Guelph Ontario. Which is where I am now. Guess I should change my profile...

Shani, I have a nephew in Guelph. We have many relatives in Kitchener and Cambridge also.

Our new neighbours moved here from Barrie this Summer...they were retiring and wanted a 'country' setting for their later years.

Junie, I'll take that offer of sending Rod to help me move snow....today has been a long one.

Come on down guys. You'll be ready to leave when the humidity and mosquitos realize it's spring. Wasps are already buzzing my windows.

I just did something I haven't done in years - I ate a bowl of Cheerios. I couldn't get cheerios off my mind. How weird is that?

I said I was going to give myself a year to decide what I should do about moving and life in general. Next month is a year and I'm no closer to making any decisions than I was a year ago. I feel like I'm stagnating. The only people I've seen since Sunday are the lady who gave me my allergy shot and the sales people at Lowe's.

I think you do not need to be in a rush to make such a major decision. Relax, take it slow. WHEN/IF it is time to move you will know, Sheri.

And BTW: I love Cheerios. I may not eat them every day, but I always have a box of them in the house.

Bestofour, don't make such a decision based on a timeline. You'll know when the time is right. kissie

It is another cold day here, the wind is terrible. I should be making a grocery run but I think I'll wait another day.

Most definitely!
Once all this snow is gone and the weather warms. Hubby got me a small (4'x8') green house for me birthday last year so I'm looking forward to setting it up next month to start some stuff early.
Last night was -19C (2F) here so the plants still have to wait a bit. I have 5 garden spaces here.

The front of the house North facing is deep shade, its adjoined to my neighbours do we each care far 3feet x 8 feet. We did it up woodland style, so the two gardens flow into each other A big mass of plants. One day when we can afford it (or the kids get strong enough to do it, we want to take the garden right down the the street (another 30 feet or so).
Garden 2 borders the back deck, so full southern exposure. 2ft x 8ft.
Garden 3 turns the corner joining 2 and 4. it's 5x5ft approx. with the cut corner for joining gardens smoothly Has a huge, dying lilac in it, Almost no blooms. Full shade under.
Garden 4 funs down the western side 2x25feet. Lots of raspberries, strawberries and veggies like it there for the morning light.
Garden 5 is my trouble spot. It was the pre-existing garden when we moved in. At 4x10 feet its a mess of weeds I can't control, it's against the back fence so its mostly shade. I'd like to rip out everything that's there and put in a rain garden, as that area always stays wet after it rains.

I want to expand everything, but the kids need the space for playing still.

Tell me about your gardens

As soon as I can get out (when the ice is gone,) I will measure what I have...

My back yard is 95% Bermuda grass. It's roots can go down at least 6 inches, so unless I want to either surround a garden with metal plates driven over 6 inches down, or be constantly trying to weed out grass from my vegetable beds, I have to do some kind if deep container beds. That is still on the drawing board.

I haven't decided if I'll plant anything this year. I'm back and forth with it. BUT, if I do, I'll plant in 4 raised beds and an inground spot - haven't measure it but the last few years I planted cucumbers, green peas, and black eyed peas there. It's too late this year to plant green peas and I haven't eaten the black eyed peas from year before last so it will probably only be cucumbers. I'll just have tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, and I'll plant squash in straw bales.
