Well you are better off than I am..so there is that.
It is.colder.here today....don't know about tomorrow, but then bad weather on thursday, and back up into the 50' s on Saturday...SMH

I got my new cable bundle set up today...after failing to be able to do it myself. The good thing was that it wasn't my fault...the technician had to call himself to sort it out once he was here. Now if I can only figure out this new remote.

I didn't want to get within distance of the cable guy Junie....Covid cases have exploded here. I did figure it out quite easily with a tutorial online though.
They are calling for a snow storm this evening and through the night, the sky looks terrible already.

Yea, I can't blame you, Sunny.
People here seem to be ignoring the virus. I went to the kid's school, the grocery and the pharmacy yesterday. I wore my mask, but I saw noone in any of the 3 places wearing a mask. sometimes you just have to wonder.
I will say this:
My daughter and her entire family are completely vaccinated, and she says she read that a mask just protects others but not the person wearing the mask. She says she is vaccinated and so she is not wearing a mask. But she does carry one for everyone in her family in case a place she has to go requires one. She will wear one then.

OMG Junie, here you don't dare go anywhere even outside off your property without a mask on. The fines are hefty. Mind you, this Omicron is spreading like crazy....it needs a three layer or a n95 mask to protect you they say. Most people wear thin little masks so they can breathe easily, if you can breathe easily than the mask is not working. This pandemic is going to be never ending, the news stated that now "Florona" has been discovered in Israel. It is a combined version of Covid and the flu together.

I wish we were to!d we "had" to wear masks. I could feel better while we are going thru this Covid thing.
Both my DD and the grands do not have school again tomorrow. Thankfully, I get to stay home and keep warm.

I am keeping warm here, we are getting a bad snow storm. When they say a "Nor"Easter" is on it's way...we know we are going to get pounded. I made a nice pan of pork meatballs and am simmering them in a homemade spaghetti sauce, it smells so delicious in here. I am going to crave for the next 4 hours while it cooks.

I use 1 pound ground pork, one slice of bread(dried and crumbled), salt, pepper and onion powder. Mix, form balls and sear in pan....then make my tomato based sauce with spices and throw them in, simmer for 4 hours.

Good Afternoon.
I am back , just finally caught up with myself ... wasn't covid sick but some kind of bug got us and was down for 3 weeks... course came at same time out doc retired and we got left with new one that hadn't seen us yet so masked up and went in to get meds,,, what a mess,,
I finally got bills paid and reset for new yr... my office looks like a tornado went thru... have all sorts of paperwork to file away... and a closet to sort out and clean up... came in and found Christmas stuff that didn't get put away in those bins so have to go find an empty one and add this stuff.. will eventually get it all sorted..
Well won't get sorted unless I start.. got laundry to do too... have a good day all!

Good morning, the snow is done for a few days but the frostbite warnings have started. It is supposed to drop to minus -33*F by the afternoon.

It has been in the 20's here the last several days....but this afternoon it was around 40-ish.
I real!y prefer the colder temps. The dog brings in mud and water when the temps are above freezing.

I can't even imagine it being that cold. Where do homeless people go? There are shelters in some parts of our province Bestofour but there is no need to be homeless in our province if one does not want to be. There are social programs set up to keep you in a boarding house with a monthly check, to help you find a job or attend school....there are no homeless people in our area at all. We have a woman's shelter a 20 minute drive West of here and a men's shelter a 45 minute drive East of here as well but they are mainly used for abusive situations. That being said, it is the poor animals here that bare the brunt of the cold....there are many homeless pets roaming around. DH had to plug in the truck for the block heater to warm so that it would start. That means I will hide inside today.

We are Junie, I have a chicken vegetable soup simmering on the stove and fresh home made bread to go along with it. Cold weather and soup just goes so good together.

Sunny do you make your bread with a starter? My sister is trying to make sourdough bread using a starter and so far the bed is dense and not too tasty. I have used starter before but you are right, it makes a heavier bread. I make 'Poor man's bread" .....just water, sugar and yeast...then add salt, a bit of melted fat(oil or shortening, etc..) then add the flour. It makes the lightest bread that I have ever seen. It is so cold that the water pipes to the barn have frozen underground. It is the first time that has happened in about 8 years....so that means we get to lug pails of water for the rest of the Winter. Thank God we do not have cattle anymore, just a couple of horses. I am really starting to despise Winter more and more every year.

Despise winter. Yep, I can remember going out in the cold/snow/ice to care for a few cattle, or my brother's horses or feeding the wood stove. It was cold and slick and I thought nothing of doing it. I could no longer think of working like that. Getting older is not for sissies.

I feel older than I am some days. We were just notified we are going into a full lockdown Friday at midnight. No visiting or socializing at all and they are closing non essential businesses again....and so it starts once again.

We're expecting a little bit of snow on Sunday and everyone is excited. Sunny you'd laugh at us.
Andy is shedding horribly. I've been making him stay on the enclosed and heated back porch for 2 days because I was having to vacuum the entire house twice a day. I'm talking lots of dog hair everywhere. It's not mange so I don't know what it is.

A diet change or flea/parasites are the usual cause of hair loss in animals. I'll post the bread recipe later, I always go by 'feel' but I have it written down somewhere. I am looking forward to this lockdown....I can personally name dozens of people here who have covid at the moment.

We too are expecting snow....tonight into the weekend. They are being very broad about their numbers in their forecast...anywhere from 1 inch to 6-8. I hope we get the 1 inch. Either way, I have groceries and my meds, so I can stay home.

Good morning, the sun is shining but it is brutal outdoors with the cold. The wind is terrible...I guess I must be thankful that when it is cold like this, at least it cannot snow. Sheri, it sounds as if you have inherited the weather system that went thru here. They way they put it us we may get a ton of snow and we may get none. Well the places that were to get a lot, got about half of what they were forecast to get. We were supposed to get just a few inches and we got nothing...but yes it changed as often as the next weather program. I hooe you fare as well as we did.

We got the water line to the barn thawed out. A good box of sea salt down the line did the trick....now I am waiting for todays snow storm to start.

We didn't get snow. We got an inch of ice. The power was off for 6 hours but I have a generator so I was ok. The internet was out all morning. I don't understand it. My niece lives in Jackson, Wyoming, has tons of snow and wind and their power and internet never go out. It's no fun being home alone. I had no place to go, which was a good thing since I couldn't get out of the driveway, but it's a totally different thing being home alone when you can't get out.

Yes, she had a few meetings with teachers...then had a full day of work to do. It made for a very long day but she is ahead of where she should be 'work wise' so it is all good.
The weather has been cold and snowy then snowy and cold.

Well sorry she had to be at it for so long, but since she is ahead of herself then it was worth it.
Good for her. Perhaps today won't be such a "full" day.
My grands were home today..but had homework sent in anticipation of a "Snow day"
I helped them with a lot of it.
Their mom will help them do what needs to be done.on their "school " tablets.
Lordy who knew kids got school tablets ??

School tablets? That's a new thing.
Madi has been working on Geometry this week with no trouble but she has had a hard time with her French. I should have pushed to learn her more as a young child, mind you I am the only one who can speak some of it in my family.

Yes, when all the issues began the school, or the diocese made sure each child has a tablet to use. They have them at the Catholic high school as well. The high school.kids have higher quality ones...I know the ones at the high school are turned back in to school at the end of the year, so I am assuming so does the grade school. They bought them so no family could say " we can't afford to buy them" for our kids...and this way they are all the same...which makes it easier for the teachers.
French..WoW...but I guess living in Canada learning that is helpful. I bet her having to take this, makes you brush up on your French.

Thanks for the concern but I'm not really alone. I meant I didn't have anywhere I needed to go, like shopping or to work or anywhere, which was good because of weather conditions BUT it's more fun stuck inside when someone else is stuck inside with me. My oldest daughter is just 16 miles down the road and I have plenty of friends so I didn't mean that I'm actually alone alone - if that makes sense. And as far as that goes I'm at Ginger's right now. They're going tomorrow to Myrtle Beach to see Travis Tritt and I'm staying with Colt. BUT they were supposed to leave today but the sleet is holding them up. Colt and I are going to be very disappointed if they don't leave tomorrow  not that we do stuff that's not parent approved

With this computer it always wants to update and if you stop it so many times then it 'locks' itself. I then have to restart it in 'safe mode' then restore it....one of these days it will not start up I am afraid.
I wonder if Tina is o.k. the news stated there were more fires again.

We are still having extreme cold weather, it is supposed to hit minus -40*F tonight. All those people who have been taking out their woodstoves and installing 'mini split heaters' are going to be in for a cold night. They'll kick out and stop working in extreme cold.

Don't worry about me Junie. I have a woodstove for heat(and that I can cook on) and a generator for emergencies.....I have never been so prepared as these past few years. We have propane for our camping stove and a large bag of charcoal for our outdoor grill. No one will freeze or starve in this house.
I might be thankful for all that when this weekend arrives, they are calling for a severe storm Saturday into Sunday.....no other details yet though.

I should be so prepared. We do not have cold like you do but, we have lost power in years past. I can still remember living in the living room for 3 days. Our fireplace was gas and did not need electricity to run. It was how we strayed warm. If that happens here, I guess we will go stay with my daughter. They have a wood burning fireplace.

It is so cold outside, just shy of the minus -40*F they called for. There will be lots of vehicles not starting this morning. DH plugged his in and even tucked it right against the shed to stop the cold from freezing the engine....I think of all the poor little abandoned animals on days like this.

The windows freeze on the inside as well as the hinges on the inside of the steel door. Imagine what the outside looks like.

Sunny I can't even imagine that cold. They did end up going to see Travis and had a great time. All Colt and I saw was rain; no ice thankfully BUT where my house is actually got 2 inches of beautiful soft snow and I wasn't there to see it.

Yes, that's for sure. When they use the words "weather bomb" in the forecast, it puts the elderly here in panic mode. It will be a wild night here with the storm....and a mess to clean up in the morning. New York is dealing with it at the moment as it comes up the Eastern seaboard.

Well DH is sick..it could be a cold, it could be allergies. I thought I was getting whatever he has so I began my flonase again...and now I feel ok. And of course he will not take any allergy medication to see if that helps him. In his defence our grands and their mom has felt badly of late.....they all had minor colds.

I got to see the snow this time. It snowed again last night. That's 3 weekends in a row. Can't remember the last time that happened around here.
Sunny, sorry the children have covid but it seems kids recover quickly.
