Pineapple express around here lately. I could wish for less rain but I won't. We need every drop.

It all looks good but the $$$ are crazy....I only got a few apples and some bananas. They'd rather the fruit decay in the store than sell it at prices one can afford.

Covid is spreading faster than ever before here....it's just a matter of when we catch it not 'if'. I am back to double masking and wiping down groceries. DH is 'rapid' tested every morning with his work crew before they are allowed into the main work building. I am glad of that.

Sorry for the cost of fruit..and other things I bet. Here as an example many foods have doubled in price.

So glad that your DH is tested often. That must make you both rest easier.

I know you said your fruit prices were high before, Sunny. But how are your fresh veggies? staple items like potatoes, onions, carrots ,etc?
Sweet dreams all

Everything fresh is expensive Tina.

It is $8 for a 10 pound bag of potatoes, turnip and carrots are $2 a pound. apples are $4 a pound, bananas are the cheapest at $1.29 a pound....and that is the affordable things. It is $8 a pound for fresh berries, oranges are $1 a piece, a small lettuce is $5. We now pay $8 for a gallon of milk and fresh eggs are $5 a dozen. Chickens and pork are $4 a pound(on sale), turkeys are $6, ground beef is $4-5 a pound....I shop so strictly that it is sad to think about.

I budget everything right down to the dollar, it is a good thing that I cook all our meals....I don't know how people can afford take out and frozen meals.

My.prices are high, but thankfully not that high....yet. Gas has been down to $2.99 for awhile, but is predicted to go up to $4.00 a gallon by Memorial day.in May. Then of course all else will go up as well. I think we are going to start having 2 meatless meals a week instead of one..but then there will still be eggs & cheese to buy. ( I make salads with them in it)

My DH was.just saying that about people eating out here just yesterday. And I want to know where they eat. There is 3 places in Scott city, ( 2 are fast food and the actual restaurant closes at 3 in the afternoon) none here in Kelso, one small coffee shop in a town 7 miles away and few Fast Food in the larger town to the North. We have/had a lot more mom & pop restaurants back home in IL. But I too cook at home.

Gas is $6 a gallon here already.

They just announced school is closed until January 21st at the least....and probably longer due to the high omicron cases. Online school starts next week once again. badday

Sorry for the cost of gas...but at least Carey is still working. This being retired and on Medicare is for the 🐦.
They raised our Medicare checks by 5% for next year. And yet inflation is well past that amount. But I guess some money is better than no money.

I remember when we went out to McDonalds when I was little. About once a year. The burgers were ten cents each. I got a choice of fries or a shake. We couldn't afford both. I guess fast food has rea;;y jumped in price around here too. I haven't been for a couple of years. I have ordered a couple from Uber eats but $50 is too much to spend on a meal for three. It seems to lose flavor the more expensive it is.
We no longer eat much meat here. Every couple of weeks I'll have T pick up a little something. And then it's the making of several meals.

Tina, take-out is a treat here as well...the kids still get a 'Happy Meal' from McD's when I do the monthly bank trip.

I could do without eating meat but not DH.

If it were just me, I would make soups for most meals..they would have meat in them, but a smaller amount of meat is needed for soup. But Like in Sunny's house My DH wants his meat..the good thing is He does not eat as much since he retired. I still buy meat by what a meal would cost me. And we eat leftovers.i

I haven't put gas in my car since 2019. I did buy two 5 gal. containers last month when a neighbor was going out. But they are still here. T need to get them into my tank. 2020 was an odd year followed by 2021 anther odd year. I was looking forward to the new year until I realized it was called 2020 too.
Happy New Year my friends!

No matter the weather, there will be foot prints of some kind through our houses. DH just left snowy ones all through the entrance when he came home for his lunch break.

The few inches of snow is turning into many, many inches....it is a mess out there. It is a good day to stay inside and do some baking.

I tried to get on here last night but couldn't...thought I might have blown the forum up again. Just got out of the hospital awhile ago. People are dying of Covid right in the ER. It's a sad place. I made them discharge me, I couldn't handle it there. I don't have Covid. I have pneumonia and severe dehydration. There are others sicker than me who need my bed. There are no beds empty at the hospital.
Sad, sad, sad.

I understand your worry. I don't think I would be able to make myself stay in a hospital either. So glad that you do not have Covid, Cindy.

Our temps have been so warm that everything is budding again but it has been raining almost nonstop for days and there's a 90% chance of rain tomorrow.
