Yes, Sunny. My youngest daughter still lives with me. Jonni has been helpful to me. And very angry about our housing situation. It is quite fun to see her get interested in something outside of herself.

Tina, I am glad Jonni is there to help you. We are getting a nice, cool windy day....we haven't had one of those in a while. I will take advantage of it and spend the whole day outdoors tackling chores....the first one is to mow the lawn.

Thank you Tina. I had to look up those winds. We did have some bad winds but really they were welcomed as the temps here had been so high. This week we were happy to have it only be 90. Tomorrow it is supposed to get into the triple digits.
I will be going to Illinois around the middle of August for a few days. I hope those winds do make it down to greet me there.

A derecho is much more than just winds. I don't know exactly how they work but it is a big deal including tornadoes and straight line winds. I kind of think of them more like a on land hurricane and as destructive.

Thanks for the explanation Tina, I hope it is short lived wherever it is.
Another cooler day, more outdoor chores to be tackled while I can. My lawn is mowed, beds are weeded and edges are wacked...it looks nice once again.

Well, they are lifting all restrictions and masking here tomorrow...so I took GG school shopping today. I figured that it was probably safer than what it will be in the coming weeks. She hadn't been out in so long that she didn't know what to do. She was so paranoid and scared...it was sad. When we got home, she said she was glad that we went when people still have to mask and keep their distance. I can see our province being in a complete mess in the month ahead.

They have extended the border closing through late August though. I think that is agreements between the US and CA.
I'm vaxxed but I will continue to wear masks out there through the end of the year, I think. Maybe beyond. It's scary out there but I'm mostly thinking about the kids not allowed the vaccines yet.

Yes, I agree with you both. We have not been wearing masks but mainly because only non vaccinated people were asked to wear masks. I didn't want people to think I was not vaccinated. With all this going on, I think I will begin wearing my masks again.
I am glad that I bought cases for our vaccination cards...We may need them yet.
At this rate I will not get to go home for this Christmas either.

I am actually not traveling anywhere, ever again. What I have seen of the world is enough. I have many happy memories. I ache just thinking about moving or waiting in lines. No, Im not going anywhere far.

Well Tina, if you change your mind can you bring some wire, baler twine and duct tape?....it seems that our equipment is so old that we have to modify and make our own replacement parts. It has been a long day, one that makes me wonder why we go through all this.

Yes, Tina, I agree. This world is a changing, and as I see it, not for the better. We were talking today, I said I have no problem getting a third covid vaccination. Plus we got these in late January early February...so IMO the vaccinations start all over again soon. I get a flu shot every year so IMO this will be no different. Just really wish TPTB would get a handle on this like they did with other similar " things"

It is now calling for rain for Thursday....no haycutting here. We get extreme heat then get hit with thunderstorms. It has been a crazy summer, we can't get a few dry days in a row.

My legs are bit up from working outside, and I sprayed them heavily with OFF.
And I am out of bite patches. I must find out what they are called.so I can buy some more. They really work well.

Good morning. There are times when I'm happy that I don't take sugar or cream in my coffee. And my keyboard is also happy. This morning is one of them. But it's had a good cleaning now and none the worse for it.

I hear that, Sunny. Even when we had a yard full of brand new seed grass, it dud nit prevent the weeds from taking over. It happens. We have a very hot still day here today.

Yes, what Tina said. and when getting your hay in you do need sunshine..and the hotter it is the dryer your hay will be, right ?
BUT Tina is right..hydrate..hydrate...hydrate.
The kids are staying the night at their other grandmothers house. Along with their 4 cousins. I think the woman has lost her mind. But the kids are SO excited to get to do this.

This is the first 3 day stretch of dry weather in forever.....and of course it is August's deadly heat that goes with it.

I was a recipient of your foot soak Junie. I buy my plain epsom salts at the dollar store but at the big stores they have it in different scents.

Tomorrow is Friday the 13th. I like them when they come along. When I was a kid we had a party on those days with two other families with kids. It usually involved popcorn and maybe soda and hot dogs, etc. Warm memories.

Tina, a few people will not venture out of their house on Friday the 13th....superstitions are so strange. I think a party was a grand idea.
It is calling for another day in the 100's here.....each year August gets hotter it seems. We have half our hay made and in the barn, next week will be the other half hopefully.

The kids were sad though as we could not set up the slip and slide. So we watched TV most of the day.

We were spared Tina but parts of the Southern area from us were not....they have a mess to deal with today. No touch down but the winds damaged lots.
We are cutting hay again today....it will be a long three days ahead.

Books? I can't wait to get back to the library. Yesterday I put out a full line of comforters and blankets.....then had to pick them all up off the ground. My clothesline snapped in two from wear and tear. The old line has been tied and repaired to its limit. I am leaving in a few minutes to pay the monthly bills and get a new heavy duty clothesline wire/string.

The fires in California are mostly to the north of me. They are not affecting me personally here. The smoke is mostly north of us too.
