There we go, all fresh and new...

I have hummingbirds already, it is a pleasant sight to see every year.

Today I am picking up my mulch and compost when I go pick up GB. The weather is so nice this week, it is kind of strange....so I'll take advantage of it while I can.

Thanks Tina, it is rare to have nice weather and no 'biting flies' at the same time, the kids are loving it....as well as my bare arms and legs. lol

Yes, we have deer flies here. They only nice thing I have to say about them is that they're pretty easy to kill.

The kids are outside with water guns...even though I told them it is not warm enough yet. I guess they are rushing in the warmer season as well.

There was a bad accident this morning on the highway, it happened before I went for GB. Someone hit a moose with a car...there were more plastic pieces on the road then moose. It is scary to think of how easily cars break apart these days compared to before when they were made of steel.

I am glad the kids took advantage of the warmer weather. Not to mention the absence of the flies.I

Oh my so sad about the accident.
You are exactly correct about the " lighter" cars these days.
And, as I remember it, all to save gas...
I guess that takes presidence over lives.... rolz

The lighter vehicles are here to stay. And we will all be traveling around in electric cars soon, I think. It bothers me a bit because you won't be able to take them to any backyard mechanic. They will need pricey techs to repair them.
Sweet dreams all..

I have no clue how an electric car will work here with our freezing temps in Winter....we'll have to take the batteries in the house at night with us. lol

That's an interesting point Sunny. And in the USA, there will have to be construction of lots and lots and lots more charging stations. I think, right now, electric cars need to be charged for a minimum of 4 hours (may be wrong about this) but I can't imagine trying to take a road trip and having to stop for 4 hours every once in a while.

We may have to make many accommodations for travel. And for breathable air. I foresee rapid changes.

Good Morning.

One of the series books I read is placed in Minnesota. In this series, they have little warming/charging stations all over town. I guess we could do that if need be. I am sure it would NOT be cheap to add these charging/warming stations all over though.

I will say my daughter on the east coast has a very expensive Chevy Volt. She plugs it in when she is home. And it has a 9 gallon gas tank as back up if she runs out of charge while she is out driving it. I guess a hybrid would be an option as well.

I hate having to charge my phone once a week, I can't imagine having to charge my car for 4 hrs. lol

I divided up a hosta, rudbeckia and bleeding heart....I really need a few different plants though. I have two many of the same three perennials from dividing them over and over again. My yard is repeating itself. haha

The infrastructure needs to get on national charging. It will happen but faster would be better. .

Sunny. My hostas ( just in 3 places) are rather large. I moved some of the ones that Dodge sent to me all around so now there is a full circle of them around my bird feeder pole like back in IL...the other 2 are really big, esp. for me planting starts from my SIL just 2 years ago.

I do know what you mean though. A few different kinds of flowers in the yard would sure be nice, I agree.

I try not to think of being required to own an electric car. Sounds expensive to me. Besides any way I look at it, it will be what it will be. When TPTB decide what is what I will deal with whatever it ends up being.

I got my hostas years ago, before Darbi was born, from a house Shelley and Tracy lived in. I think they're so pretty.

I need to go to bed and try to sleep because I need to get up early and take my car to be serviced. For some reason I made a 7:45am appointment. What was I thinking? Will I ever be able to sleep again?

Wow ! That is a long time to have your Hostas, Sheri I bet they are beautiful !

Yea, that us quite early to get your car serviced. Look at it this way..You will probably be the first one or if not the 2 nd person on their list. Then you will have the rest of your day free to do as you please...perhaps get a good nap in ??

I will say goodnight now..sweet dreams to you all. Sleep well.

I find that my 'one color' hostas grow the largest, mind you I have no idea how big they were supposed to get. I have a bad habit of buying my plants at the end of season with clearance prices and no tags. lol

I'm debating whether to go today or tomorrow to pay bills and run errands...It's the long drive there and back that discourages me as well as lining up 'curb side' pick ups.

Yes, me too about shopping. I used to relish going on shopping trips. Alone and with my sister. Now I dread it. Esp. Since I need to get used to this car. With this pandemic, things are just a lot more involved to plan.

Good morning !

Well, I arranged the pick ups for tomorrow and spent the time today double digging my garden plot. It seemed a lot harder to do than last year....it took me double the time. why

Tina, thanks for reminding me...that's why it was so hard to do lol . My garden is now exactly the same size of my house 24ft X 32ft.

Well, it is raining so my errand day is put off until tomorrow. I need to pick up hay seed for DH on the same trip....and it cannot get wet. My back could use a rest today so all is good.

Thanks for the wishful thinking on the garden. kissie

Ah, a day of rest. Just what the " Dr. " ordered ! I hope you feel better tomorrow.

Not raining here, just ☁☁☁ overcast. All the heavy rain ☔ we.were.supposed to get did not.really happen. We got very little if any so far. The meteorologists here must not of done well in school.

I was indeed the first person in line to get my car serviced. I was still there way over an hour. I haven't got my bearings yet and even though I make a list I can't seem to get anything accomplished. I'm driving myself crazy going in circles.

We could use a little rain around here.

Sorry to hear all of that Sheri. Why don't you stop..relax, and just take one item at a time, accomplish it. Then move on to the next. I bet you did a lot of this stuff before anyway. Sounds like you are worrying so much you get overwhelmed. And I promise you this. All the stuff you are going in circles about, will wait for you..so don't stress over this stuff.

And if yiu do get overwhelmed....come here and talk to us. Surely one of us can help you out...

I hope you get your rain, and sooner rather than later. Here it sprinkles, when they say it is going to rain heavily...

Bestofour, you are being too hard on yourself....it is going to take time to get things in order. kissie

I have my pick ups lined up and am leaving in a few minutes to pay the monthly bills and such. I hate using a 'dry' day when I have lots to do outdoors but if DH's hay seed gets wet than it is a lost cause. I could spare some rain for y'all. lol

I need a nap after I do anything, Sheri. I seem to need to rest after any exertion. Clear my mind and prepare for the next thing. Some times that is only a ten minute stretch.

I wonder if you could put up small potatoes ? They are good fresh though.
Yay for more jelly/jam.

I love the red pontiac..and as I love the gold varieties that I buy at the store, I bet those are going to be wonderful tasting as well.

Junie, one can preserve potatoes....but it wouldn't be worth the hassle I think.

Well, the mulch is down....wearing long kitchen gloves this time did the job for keeping my hands dye free. I only did the flower beds around the house but it still looks good.

Oh oh ! The " wishing flowers". My Granddaughter Cora, brought me a clover flower as it was white, and told me it was a wishing flower. I had to carefully explain how the yellow flowers get white, then you blow on them and make a wish. Littles are so cute. I had not ever heard of dandelion flowers being called wishing flowers.
Sadly I had to tell her that Papaw would probably mow down the "wishing" flowers before they had a chance to become wishing flowers. boohoo

Is it just me or is Junie's post mixed in with mine???????? I never posted this:

Isn't there a three week wait for the 2nd shot? I'm getting the Pfizer one un a couple of weeks and the second on June 30.

As I understand it, Tina..in the U.S. with the Pfizer. vaccination one has to wait 21 days to get the second shot...With the Moderna, the waiting period is 28 days. But that is the waiting periods in the United States. Canada vaccinations may well be different.

I am headed to bed. Sleep well everyone.

Canada can't do anything right it seems, they have stretched the second shot 90 days after the first.....then we'll find out that in the end, none of the vaccinations took effect. rolz

No, I think that is not right. The second shot is more variable as to timing. So the first is your main vaccine. The second is a booster. It is not to be given before the 3-4 week deadline because a body needs time for the first to work its way around. I think the booster timing is not as critical as the vaccine. So your country is spreading the vaccine intelligently, Sunny.
I do think they load more vaccines into babies faster than they should. On a typical first visit a wee little body is invaded by measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus and polio. Then monthly or whatever, boosters all around. I don't know if they have added more. I believe in vaccines. But I do wish there was a better way to give them. Like they switched to chewable vitamins or something. A drop at a time on a nipple?

I dislike dandelion greens as well Tina, they remind me of the taste of fiddle heads...yuck.

There are plenty of 'wishing flowers' Junie, my lawn will only be cut later in the week.

Today is a 'planting oats' day.....with the 'help' of the two grands. I might plant the two of them by the end of the day. lol

Tina, we have an old fertilizer broadcaster that we use to spread the oats....it works quite well since a grain of fertilizer and a grain of oats weighs the same. We try to improvise to cut down some work without adding any expense.

The black flies are bad today, poor GB is a mess of sneezes and runny eyes and nose with the pollen in the air. He asked to come in the house...that never happens. I gave him some allergy meds so he is resting at the moment.

Well, I went thru the garden center...but aside from hostas all this Wal-Mart had was annuals. So I bought a few vitamins I was out of, and did my grocery shopping...not many people had on masks, but I did. However the pharmacy there was giving out covid vaccinations. That was nice to see.

Hello all, Today I need to clean and mop.....and do some baking in the afternoon. We are getting showers, not enough to wet anything but enough to stir the mosquitoes. lol

Yes Sunny is right. We must learn to be thankful for the little things. Even if they are not so little.

Oh, it's not that there is never skeeters here. And we have such long, hospitable seasons for them. But it is easier to make it inhospitable to them in reality. John and I went regularly to the putrid, abandoned pool next door to dump in bleach and kept anything emptied of accumulated rainwater around here. There are few streams or drainage ditches, ect. Some feeder fish in our pond put an end to their designs on that. So with little work they are gone.

I just worry because we get this odd day of extreme heat between the cool weather and it always brings a thunderstorm...the morning wasn't too bad but it is supposed to hit around supper time now once again.

I am debating spraying myself down with 'Avon~skin so soft' and fighting the flies to get some work done outdoors.

The storm passed over with just heavy rain. I am hopeful it will dry off by this afternoon so I can get a start on the dandelions.

We are desperate for rain. It was 98 (or close to it) yesterday with no breeze in site and gnats are horrible. Grass is already brown and crunchy.

Tina, I like a dandelion lawn too. To me, it's a happy lawn.

The dandelions do look pretty but GB is allergic to their pollen, his two eyes are all swollen....he is living on allergy medicine right now.

Lawn is cut but the weed wacker won't work, there is always something breaking down here.

Dandelions are the first thing to bloom here. When GB was about 9 months old, DD sat him in a field of dandelions to take pics....within a half hour he started showing allergy symptoms. The Nurse Practitioner confirmed it by treating him then telling her to try the 'pic' session again(it happened once more).....every year his eyes start to run and swell at this time and will clear up in a week after they are done blooming. He lives on allergy meds in the spring now.

When he is older they will do a 'scratch test'...my father had bad allergies to everything, I hope it is not the case for him as well.

I tore apart my weed wacker to find the plastic cog that holds the rope in pieces. Today will be a long day of trying to find a replacement piece. We have had no luck in fixing things lately.

Yes, I was desperate to find what my eldest son was allergic to. We were in the ER constantly with bad reactions. I got him scratch tested and it turned out that he was allergic to everything, except food. The allergist designed a series of shots for him and he was done after 3 of them. Done. Fixed. Cured. I felt like Jesus came and laid hands on him.

Well, they don't make that part anymore but I could 'try' a different one for $46. At the rate it is going, it is just as well to get another weed wacker because I can't return the part that I am supposed to 'try' fix it with. I am waiting for other places to call me...I could not find the part online either.

Remember the old days when fixing things was easy? Nothing is made to last at all.

Ugh, Sunny. I know that pain. Getting a new part for an old machine seems like a drag. But if i will last as long as the first, it will be worth it. The newer stuff seems to have a shorter 'built-in-obsolescence in it. Almost everything seems to be disposable now.

Oh yes, you are right. Nothing is built to last very long at all. And I agree they DO NOT want you to repair it either. Just go out and buy new..like we are all of us made of money.

The lids have their last T- Ball game tonight. IF the ball diamond is not all mud.
But so far so good.

I agree Tina. I am not giving up on finding the part just yet. My mother bought a new battery powered weed wacker last week, she was fed up of her electric one breaking strings. I can borrow the old one she has for a bit....we have lots of extension cords.

I have been sorting through some old lumber to make a birdhouse planter. If DH asks where the two old 1X6's are....you don't know a thing. lol

Good morning!

My sister took her kids to get allergy shots when they were in grade school. My niece was born in 1974, and my nephew in 1977. So no, not new.

Well, no. My son at the time was just under two when he got them and he's more than 46 now. They are not new. I believe that they're improved since then. I do know the allergist took the contents of my vacuum cleaner bag and designed the shot around the contents.

The first time I took allergy shots was when Shelley was baby so a LONG time ago. I can't say they helped a lot. I can't remember why I stopped but I started back several years later and I think it was after 3 years they wanted me to take a break. This time I've been taking them for 8 or 9 years and haven't had to take a break because I've never been able to get to a maintenance dose. I only have to go once a month now though so it's not bad. Before allergy shots, if I was outside, I carried a box of kleenex and a wet wash cloth to keep over my face as much as possible. It was awful. Antihistamines don't work for me plus they make me feel bad. People who don't have outside allergies just don't understand what it's like.

We got 15 minutes of rain yesterday and 10 minutes today. Would be nice if it would rain for 25 minutes all together smile

Wow, Sheri !! And you are right about "outside" allergies. Glad you are getting some relief now.

It rains like that here sometimes. But then it turns around and rains a lot.

Glad it rained a lot just when my blackberries needed it. I have a LOT of blooms !

Now if it keeps raining when I need it to. That or I will be watering a lot !!!
