I had ordered seed potatoes and gave them away after Johnny died. I knew I wouldn't get them planted. It's so satisfying digging up full grown potatoes. Just something about putting your hands in the dirt and bringing up a beautiful potato.

Well I am in a mess. The tag on Johnny's van will expire tomorrow. It needs to be inspected. Colby is afraid to drive it. Tracy has hurt his back and can't drive it. Chris lives almost 4 hours away. What to do?

It's hard to believe we're in need of rain after the fall and winter we had but it's so dry and the wind made it impossible to even work outside today.

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm just going to man up and try to drive that thing myself. Might as well get used to being on my own. It's not raining so that's a plus.

Oh my bird feeders........I should have washed mine while I was washing my pots. I guess that job will go on my list huh ?

Sheri, you will do fine...I myself do my best not to drive in the rain or bad weather. I think it is just good sense.

And Sheri when someone is on their own, it is ok for them to ask for help if/when they need it....But yes, you will do fine.

I was scared out of my wits but I got gas and the inspection. I can't see out of the right mirror so I got in a lane and stayed in it and made it there and back.

My bird feeders stay out all year but I filled them up again this week and refreshed the hummingbird feeders.

Why cant you see out of the right mirror, Sheri ? It should be adjustable. Perhaps it is broken ?? So very glad that you got your inspection and gas. It will get easier, just give it time.

You are so lucky that you can keep your bird feeders up year round. The birds never have to go away...that must be so nice.

Goodnight everyone. Sleep well.

I don't know about Sheri's truck but with ours it took two people to adjust the right side mirror. The driver in place and a second to move the mirror. In, out, up, down until the driver can see. Now I'm really heading to bed.

We only have full size trucks here to drive, it makes me miss my little hatchback when trying to find a parking spot though. It takes some practice Bestofour. kissie

My feeders break in Winter from the cold so we just throw the seed out on the snow. I really enjoy watching the little yellow finches that have arrived now. I can see the feeder from the kitchen window so I get to enjoy them while washing dishes. lol

I am going to pick up GB at lunch time.

Gracious..kids can sometimes be a handfull, can't they ?? Safe travels to pick up Gb, Sunny.

Last night Heidi had wanted me to call her...last night did not work out, so I ask her today what she wanted when I went over to get the tomato plants that her dad had for me. LOL..She wanted a me to play a game with her. There us the pig that you feed plastic hamburgers to until he pops. That was a fun time.

flwr brag away ! flwr I think you should.

How many days were you talking of snow ???
Any blooming flowers need to be shared and celebrated.

Just keep the grands away from it. Cora picked everyone of mine when they bloomed. Good thing is, she brought them in to me.

12:07 am

Going to bed. Sweet Dreams.

Well, yes, we've seen droughts before. But the main difference here is it looks like it may not end. We may see a rare year of lots of rain but they will be rarer and rarer, Even my native plants are thirsty and failing, becoming fewer. Think of the dust bowl of the "30s and happening on a much grander scale. Climate change is not playing around.

Sorry to hear that Tina. All I know of this area is no matter the temp on the gauge, it feels hotter than that same temp would feel in Mid Illinois.

Good Morning , almost after noon time,

Came in to do my bills... or make sure auto pay is doing it's job.... should have done it yesterday but good old arthritis was making itself known yesterday... could barely move much... today woke up ok...

My computer decided for itself this morning I needed a new password... had just reset it a couple weeks ago and it wouldn't work so went thru that this morn... then paid bills and came here... I swear it has a mind of it's own....

It's been beautiful here the last couple weeks ... love sitting on patio in the early morn and watching the birds , of course Milo thinks the yard is his and tries to chase them away even it they are on the 6 ft fence.. evidently it's his too... he's happy when they fly away and doesn't notice when they just go to the other side of the yard ... silly dog he is ..

Hubby had both his cataracts removed, second eye is going slower than first but doing ok... has one more appt... then we can both go get new glasses and we can go to visit kids... they have had their shots and so have we ...and Derek has graduated now so we can celebrate that too.. no real ceremony but he didn't want to walk anyway... he is working at the store now and loves it... he graduated with a B avg --- so much for the school telling us he was unteachable.... best thing we ever did was put both of them in the online school...

Well off to dust and vacuum my house.... ignore it for a week and it looks like we deserted the place

Have a good day all....
Nana

I knew both areas of work were never done. It used to make me crazy that Rod would complain about the grass being needed cut once a week or more. Like the house, and the clothes, and the cooking were all occasional chores ?!

Very sleepy. I think I will soon go to sleep for the night. Sleep well my friends.

All the snow in my yard is gone....I raked the last of the ground that needed it as well. Slowly but surely I am defeating that chore list...well for spring anyway. haha

It better not snow anymore because I just rearranged the shed and put away the snow blower and shovels.

Well, for at least 5 to 6 months anyway. haha

My back step needs to be replaced but with the crazy prices on lumber this year, it definitely will not be happening. I feel bad for anyone needing lumber supplies lately.

Yes lumber is harder to get and the prices are skyrocketing. That is due to fires in Canada's western providences aand wild fires. The US buys a lot of our construction lumber from you guys and our work is on hold because of this.
Speaking of fires, there is one close to me. It looks like they have a handle on it. It was started on the side of the freeway by a big motor home burning. Then a little dit South of that a big rig truck exploded and started another fire south of me. Another one they have handled. I hope.

I am sorry, Sunny. So much is delayed for you in a late snow. But a wee part of me envies that water you're getting. I could use it.

Tina, I wish we could share water....there are years when it just doesn't not seem to stop.

Your snow is beautiful Sunny but I'm sure it's aggravating. It's so windy here I don't want to go outside.

I wonder if scientists are working on directing rain? Someone was wondering if cloud seeding would work for us. I said you first need clouds. There was another answer after mine, longer and more science-y that basically ended with "You need clouds".
Sweet dreams all.

Good morning, DH is home today so I am putting him to work on the 'chore list'.....first he gets to clean the pipes and the chimney. I done it last time so I think it is only right that I get to share. lol

I need to re-edge the front flower bed if the weather allows.

No Tina, the front flower bed got spared most of the snow...just from the way it fell down with the wind. The snow should be all melted by the end of day though, it is calling for rain in the afternoon.

Junie, we'll share those chores with Rod as well. haha

You make me smile, Sunny.

I made a strawberry pie to take to Valarie's tomorrow. Followed my recipe perfectly..
IMO I think I should have used less strawberries, and sugar and more water and possibly a bit more cornstarch. I will.do.all of that with the next fresh fruit pie that I make.

Tomorrow as above, we will go to Valarie's...

flwr Happy Mother's Day! flwr

Today I am hoping DH has some spare time to help me cut down an overgrown fir tree in the front corner of our yard.....I can see it 'falling' in the near future. It just sways in the wind and seems to be dying slowly.

Early morning walk thru.
It seems I did not come in and say goodnight last night. My apologies to you all.

I woke up coughing about an hour ago and decided to get up for awhile.

I hope everyone had a good Mother's Day. I did !

Tina, I have the energy.....just not the money. haha

I got a pic of the two calves this morning...I circled the little female in red(she blends right in). The cow is the 'old mother' in the herd....she is due next month.

No, that is just a reflection....she is fully red as is the little bull.

It is cold and damp today, might be a good day to get my baking done.

The daffodils are blooming beautifully now....and of course the 'pink frilly ones' that GG planted last Fall are yellow. She was dissapointed.

Good morning!

Tell GG that I had that happen to me about the daffs as well. I bought salmon colored daffodils with green centers. I was so excited. But I planted them near my yellow ones and yep you guessed it, they came up yellow. I have not bought a daffodil bulb since.

Your GG and I can be sad together.

The sad part is that it is the second time that she planted 'pink' only to have yellow, I guess we have all learned our lesson.

I was registered today for the Covid vaccine....I should be given the first shot in 4-6 weeks. thumbup

They said it will probably be Moderna...if not then Pfizer. DH has a blood disorder so he cannot have the AstraZeneca, since we will be vaccinated together....I get what he gets. thumbup

I got another baby bull yesterday....and of course DH was at work and she was having trouble. So, DH helped me by phone and I got to play 'Dr.Pol' and pull a calf. It was quite an experience.....and a messy one at that. I now need to buy new Summer shoes. lol

Well take care.when you get your vaccinations. Any reaction is short lived plus I found it easy to deal with as.I knew.what was happening.

Oh my, sorry you had to help with the baby calf delivery. And sorry for the need for new.shoes. But hey, now you get new shoes. And you kept the old ones to wear in case you get to play midwife again right?

I have never observed a calving in person, but lot's of videos. John would be recommending muck boots because of their ability of be hosed out. Good job, Sunny!
Have all your cows done now?

I like watching Dr. Pol. I never even thought about animals having birthing difficulties. Good for you Sunny.

I have barn boots but I just 'forgot' to put them on in the commotion of it all. It was quite a learning experience.

Junie, I called him Fred. Tina, I have one more to calf in the first week of June but she is an old momma cow who has had calves before with no trouble. Bestofour, troubles calving is a normal thing with a first time mom it seems....especially if it is a bull calf.

That's great news Tina.

Junie, if the new calf is born on the 8th and is a girl....do you want me to name it after you? grin

It is supposed to be a 'Summery day' today. It will be a good day to tackle more outdoor chores...the list is never ending no matter how much one completes it seems. lol

Well of course I would.be honored.....you have to admit, it would be funny, to call a cow Carol every time you went out to care for your animals

Yay Tina. Glad you too are going to get the vaccination.

Yes, my hummingbird feeders should have been up at least one if not 2 weeks ago.
I really need to ask the neighbor lady what she does.

I am so very happy that you have yours out.

I have not seen any butterflies either.
