Sorry to complain but some times it is never ending. We got a very nasty storm yesterday into this morning....now the winds are awful. I honestly do not know how I have power...there are broken branches everywhere. It is minus -24*F as well, it is a good day to hide somewhere.

Sunny you're in a much worse situation than us so complain away. We try not to complain about the weather (since we can't change it) but we both said today we're sick of the rain. We'd like to see the sun.

I'm sorry, Sunny. That has to be awful. This was more about the whole upper part of the globe and pretty technical. I couldn't repeat anything I learned intelligently. But the graphics that caught my attention. You were under a big blob of blue that encompassed everything eastern Canada including Greenland.

Yup, you got it.
We are having some sort of lingering low from the Polar vortex. It is causing a Winter hurricane as crazy as that sounds. It is so strange, two people have died. One lady fell on her step and froze to death and the other is a man that went snow shoeing and died from exposure....and that's not counting the deaths from vehicle accidents.
My power is a hit or miss, thankfully we are toasty warm with our wood stove.

I found a cheesecake recipe that you can make in a blender. It has a flour crust. I think I will make it, but in my mixer. If I buy blueberry filling for topping, my grands should like it.

I am getting catalogs...what I need now is a garden....don't know if trying to keep bermuda grass out of a garden is worth the work...
I wanted a raised garden, tall enough so that I could have the bottom sealed....and my SIL was more than willing to help me...DH kept saying, " I will do ".x.x.x." You know alone w/o letting my SIL help. I am not starting a family feud.....

I did not make my cheesecake. My SIL wanted Rod over to help him with a project then postponed the project as he is putting in his garden. Hopefully we will be going over sooner rather than later..I will make the cheesecake then.

Well, the same kids who take a half an hour to dress for 15 minutes of snow play, of course. And then another half hour to undress and add in extra time to lay out the gear for drying. It's pretty much the same as summers at the beach or pool or... You go with the flow.

Yes Tina, the storms have stopped but I am still up to my ears in snow. We are supposed to have a few milder days later this week, it will be a welcome sight.

I do not miss getting littles ready for playing in the snow..and all that goes with that.
No Sunny, the girls had testing for kindergarten placement. Sad part was, their mom was one of the testers.

They were 5 on February 22 nd. They are in Pre School. Can you believe it ???Because I cannot.

They got to go to pre school for free at their mom's school. So that preschool had kindergarten screening yesterday. I think I have a cold. That is what being.around short people will do for you. But oh well.

Thank you, Tina. I spoke to Valarie this morning. Apparently Henry shared with me..he had this same thing. She said she took his temp.. every day for a week (about how long it lasted) he did not ever run a fever.

It is a cold, Tina..that or allergies..I thought that with a cold I would have a fever....but they have new strains all the time I guess...or a new virus possibly ??

Looks to me like there will be storms Thursday, then there is rain until around next Tuesday....and I need a few Easter items...hopefully the rain will subside so I can get it done.

They just announced a Covid outbreak in a nursing home out West where everyone had been vaccinated two months ago.
I have been busy doing taxes for family, I am soon going to start charging for it....it is getting out of hand.

I had stopped doing ALOT of them, especially since there is a volunteer tax dept. to do them for the low income earners in our area.....but of course Covid put an end to that last year and this year. As family comes to pick them up this year, I am telling them that Covid or not.....I am not doing it at all next year.
I'll still have to do ours, my mother and DD's though.

No, first they went home at night, but I was just to keep them during the day for 4 days.
They were off school for all week, but mom is off school today. So they can all stay home. Well except for Henry. Poor Henry has had school all week.
I do feel worse today. So glad that I do not have the kids today.

Good morning. Poor Henry. I generally liked elementary school. I think they skip through subjects too quickly for some kids.
Cold and a bit wet. I would take the cold if they would attach much more wet. We need the rain.

Tina. Henry is so bright he tends not to pay attention at school when he finds out he knows what the teacher is talking about. That will not end well one day, I am afraid.
Sadly he has a cousin in the same boat on the east coast.

A good teacher can keep a bright kid engaged. I used to read encyclopedias when I got bored in summer. Or dictionaries. Whatever was around the house on 110+ degree days and going outside was not a good option. I butted heads with a few teachers too. But there were good ones also. So it worked out well in the end.

I would shut up the house, open the window in my bedroom, and read one of the Encyclopedia books..
That and magazines.
My GS on the East coast was put in a gifted program in his public school. You know what that means ? He is ignored and reads most of the day.
When his parents asked about this, they were told, oh "so and so" is taking care of his classes...only said person was not.. Thankfully he is has had to be home during Covid, and his mom is teaching him

I loved to read as a child...still do, it passed on to DD and GG as well. GG gets excited over getting books as gifts, she is in a gifted program for math.....she got that from my DH though. We got a few 'melting days' then we woke up to snow and heavy winds once again. I have been 'stuffy' as well....I always get it from the spores when the snow melts. I can't help it though, I love to be outside when the sun is shining. I hope you can get some rain Tina.

Oh, we have gotten another inch of rain this past week. It is just not enough. And not enough snowpack in our mountains to leave us with enough water for our long dry season (and fire season).. Northern California got more than SoCal and they will send some down but not as much as we need. We are an agricultural state without enough water and getting hotter every day.

My mom nor my dad read for enjoyment. I have since I was young. And I passed that onto my girls.

We have had bad patches for a few years here and there between idyllic California all my life. But it has worsened as the climate has. So we have more drought years than idyllic ones. But I keep dreaming.

The roads are good but it is freezing cold, I am leaving to go in an hour. I need to pay the monthly bills, get Easter taken care of and groceries at the same time....then pick up DH's birthday cake. The worst part is that it takes me an hour one way just to get there.

I was going to the little grocery store today. But, Rod went. "for me". Yea he wanted to go to pick himself out a treat. I am looking towards Monday. I will have a list of what I want/ need by then. I did buy each of the kids books so far.

I agree, going shopping only occasionally is a pain. I cannot tell you how often of late that the kids say, "put that on your list Grandma"...and in normal times, I try to never be out of food and or treats for the kids.
Thunderstorms with large hail is in the forecast for today & tonight....

I use to shop once a month during the 80's. That was fun. I would pick up extra bread and milk from a convenience store between times, but that was it. I pretty much blew my wad all at once. It took planning but that was one of my best things to do.

You know, it thundered it rained but that was all. However, there is a strong line of storms
Headed this way now. We just saw lightning, and heard the thunder. Thankfully the car is in the garage with no place it has to go. As are we. The hail can come. It will not hurt us.
And oh, the phones are charged.

I have not been in a dollar store or Walmart for several years. Not including last year of quarantining. It's much harder to get out and move these days. But I loved grocery shopping and meal planning for my family back then. I use so many more convenience foods these days because of my aging inabilities. Pre-cleaned and cut vegies and frozen stuff is gentler on arthritic hands.

Well.sorry for you, Sunny.
Tina, so sorry for the arthritis. But I say go for whatever works. Please take care.
At " home" I had 4 Wal-Marts, a few dollar stores and a Target or 2 that I could go to easily and no longer than 30 to 40 minutes away, and.I.could use routes ( 2 lane) not the interstate to get to them if I so chose...then a few closer And I am not even mentioning all the other stores I had access to.
Now I have one each of Wal-Mart and Target..and 2 or possibly 3 Dollar Stores...Here you only have to go down the interstate about 20 monutes, BUT there are SO many on and off ramps (there is only one way into Cape Giardeau) so that it is a zoo to go there to do any shopping. But hey..I guess I should be glad it is closer?

I have a Target and WalMart within 10 miles of me but I wouldn't go into the WalMart if you paid me $100.00. It's a superstore and I think they have 1 employee. I drive the extra miles if I need to go to WalMart. We also have a Lowe's, Tractor Supply, and Southern States right up the road. I have never enjoyed shopping so I make a list and try to be in and out fast. I am not a browser. I get throw rugs at the Dollar Store for cheap, Andy lays on them, and I throw them away when they get dirty.
The first thing Colt told me about moving to where they live now is "GiGi, they don't even have a Target or WalMart!!" They have to drive into Augusta, about 50 minutes, to do anything. He's not happy about that distance.
