Hi! I am looking to plant something in my garden (Coastal, San Diego) with something with purple (not black or red) foliage that would be close to the ground (below 2 feet). We would like something that stays purple most of the year, perennial preferred, is easy to grow, and not poisonous to children. We prefer for bees not to be very attracted to it (bee allergy). It would be in full-partial sun. Do you have any recommendations? Or, do you recommend any of the below:

Burgundy Glow Bugleweed (Ajuga Reptans) / Persian Shield / Basil purple ruffles / Red Rubin basil / Purple leaf garden sage / Bulls blood beet / Purple kale / Purple succulent / Purple prince / Heuchera / Tradescantia pallida 'Purple Heart' / Oxalis triangularis aka false shamrock

Thank you!

Those are great choices, my cousin needs to keep bees away due to her son's allergy...she always cuts back blooms before they open.

I live in zone 7 and have Ajuga Reptans growing but it doesn't stay purple all year round. Maybe it will in your area. It's stays low growing and problem free, so it's a great choice.

Ah yes, Sheri. But isn't Ajuga on the invasive side. Of course some areas call for invasive.

It hasn’t been invasive for me. On the contrary it’s been slow to spread and it’s been out there for years. It doesn’t die back in winter but turns from purple to dark green.

Oh my. Would be nice if the plants in my yard would do that. It's in a spot where the grass didn't do well. It's beautiful though. The colors are great.
