All fresh and new flwr

I have a kink in my neck this morning....it sure is an aggravating feeling. On a good note, I found an old pair of snowshoes at the barn....today I hope I can make the necessary repairs on them so that I can start using them for exercise.

Nice in here. all roomy.
It's funny. You're talking snowshoes and I just looked at my weather for the week and it's telling me upper 80's.

Good morning! Yes, very spacious and comfy in here, Sunny.

Apparently all of our weathers are all over the place...according to my weather app it is now 34*F here and will only get up to 44* today. 80 sounds heavenly, Tina. Good for you !

Yes, about the Celsius thing. I have noticed a large number if recipes have been being posted in metric lately. I said something about it and I was told to go online and convert the amounts....well that is all fine and well, but they are teaching the kids in pounds and inches.......imperial measure ?? And I remember in grade school being told our country was going to convert... our system..yet we did not....

Good morning. They tried to get people to move to grams and meters but we resisted too much. I think in pounds and cups for the most part. But when needed conversions are a finger tap away. It's all a bushel and a peck or a ton or a tonne.

You know, if I could bring it to you I just might. It would cost you a cup of coffee though.

Good morning....I just signed up with my counties health department to get the covid vaccine. Perhaps I should have waited for my local pharmacy or my Dr. to offer it...but at least I am on a list now

Speaking of groceries, someone's got delivered to my front porch today. A person was here trimming shrubs, knocked on the front door, which we rarely use, and asked if I realized I had bags of food on the porch. There wasn't a list or receipt in any of the bags, which I've always gotten when I order online from my store. These groceries were in WalMart bags. There were 20 bags and some of the stuff needed to be refrigerated. Surprised it was left on the porch. He was outside all morning but didn't notice anyone dropping it off. The stuff was still cool to the touch and the butter hadn't melted. I tried to call WalMart 3 times to tell them someone was going to be calling them mad and ask when they were delivered but couldn't get through. I knew they wouldn't re-deliver the same groceries but the shrub guy took them so I hope they're safe to eat.

That "sort of" happened to me before Christmas...a delivery guy luckily rang the door bell, and so we were able to tell the delivery guy he had the wrong house. Clearly, he thought we were wrong, but he finally picked back up the bags and left. That too was a large order. I hope it got where it was headed

Good for the shrub guy. I heard a similar story from someone else. She found a delivery on her porch. She did find paper work in it though so she bundled it up and hauled it in her car to the correct address. The driveway was in sad shape she couldn't drive up it any further in her small electric car. She went back home, called the store and they told her to keep if or throw it away. Free food!

I read back...I wish someone would deliver me free food, or as a matter of fact even food I had to pay for. lol

It took me hours today to arrange curbside pick ups....I do this every ten days, even then it is a pain. My local store won't do curbside and there are cases in our area again so I refuse to go in. I have to drive an hour to town to get someone to 'curbside' for me....it is frustrating.

I have delivery available, I guess. But I'd rather pay Tangeia a few hundred a month to help us both. And I get my preferences most of the time.

Yes I agree..it is worth it to get what you want in the sizes you want... It am so happy that you have her to help you.

Valarie will do for me, but she rarely lets me pay her back, SO I try not to ask her to help.

I would not allow Tangeia to help if she wouldn't take pay for it. Or anyone doing for me. Tangela is driving up tomorrow and picking up Jonni to take her shopping for us. She is no longer sick with Covid but tires so easily. So she will wait in her car while Jonni picks up a few things. .

When I say Valarie won't let me pay her, I mean for what ahe gets me as an example,.I asked her to pick me up some dry eye drops..well she thought it was easier to order them ( she has prime) and when they got here there were 3 boxes for $27.00. AND she is "not worried about me repaying her" this has been the case several times...so what I try to do is hand her an envelope with cash in it as she leaves my house when I give her a grocery list. This time I will add up what I owe her, and next time I am in town I will get some cash and take it to her, once again, in an envelope,...she does not usually give back cash.....and if she tries, I say, I am your mom...take the cash and say thank you, Mom....

So glad you have Tangela to help you all. Also glad she is feeling better. I imagine you are very happy about that as well. Congrats on that

Tina, Jonni doesn't drive? I've heard people say that the fatigue is one of the worst things about this virus and for some it takes a while to get over. Glad Tangela's on the mend. How's her dad?

Darbi and her boyfriend have been dating for a year. This is a record for her and I'm wondering if he's the one.

Shelley's main complaint with ordering WalMart groceries is that they'll make replacements with stuff that's not even close to what she ordered. Like if she orders Oreos she may get Fig Newtons.

Gracious, about the groceries. Have I said? On my Wal-Mart orders, if I wont allow substitutions, what I ordered is out of stock...if I will allow substitutions, they are ALWAYS substituted with Great Value...They are both bad substitutes. After all, if we are paying for the groceries, we should get whst we ordered, right ??

That sounds promising, about Darby. How old is she these days, Sheri ??

I am glad Tangela is on the mend...praying her fatigue is short lasting.

We are getting a bad snow storm tonight into tomorrow. The crazy thing is that we only have a foot of snow covering the ground now, the mild temps and rain took it all away. I guess it is time to finally say hello to our real Winter. lol

The hay shortage in our province is extreme, I am getting calls from people who have no clue who we are....just hoping we can sell some. It is sad to say no to them but I have to have a reserve for my own animals in case of a long spring or bad Summer ahead. A normal $40 bale is now selling for $135....and that is if one can find it.

I remember years ago people around here were going as far as Texas to get hay for their animals. I imagine now it will be the other way around.

It's a little above freezing here but the wind is unbearable so I've been inside all day.

I'm sorry it's so cold, Sheri.
Quite a few of our larger grain farms have been bought by the middle easterners. They grow masses of timothy hay and send it all back to their countries It makes me mad.

Yes, sorry it is so cold for you, Sheri. I hate the cold so much, I have often wondered why I have remained in the mid west my whole life. Just keep thinking spring. It will get here sooner or lster, right ?

Tina, that us very disconcerting about the hay. We should take care if our own first..but then I guess the people who come from foreign lands and buy holdings in the US do so thru third parties and the seller had no clue who they are actually selling to.....

Goodnight everyone.
Although I am so close to finishing my latest book that I may be up awhile yet.

Tina, I didn't know that the hay was being shipped out of the U.S....unbelievable.

I hope it warms up for you Bestofour...is January or February your coldest month?

What book are you reading Junie? I have been reading a book on the 'underground railroad' (I bought it for GG for Christmas).

I fixed the old snowshoes I found and went for a walk yesterday, I went back in the woods until I came across large coyote tracks and decided to turn around. I took a shower and went to my bedroom to get dressed and noticed a momma deer and her little buck had followed me out on my snowshoe tracks...they were in my yard looking where to go next. lol

Over a foot of snow has fallen and they are calling for another 6 inches....what a mess out there. It is the heavy, wet snow....great for making snowmen, not so great for trees and power lines. zoink

What I am reading. Nothing that will inhance my education, Sunny. I like Mysteries...not bloody and violent, but ones that let me puzzle out the ending and the " who done it".
I am currently reading a series called The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries. And yes, it has people in it who think ghosts are a normal occurrence, but hey, I still like figuring out who the culprit is. Often I reread a Nero Wolf mystery.. Rex Stout is the author of them. A guy named Robert Goldsboro is currently writing Nero Wolf Stories. But they are not high on his priority list,
And fially, my Complete Agatha Christy collection did not make the cut when we moved. I am sad about that now, but we were moving so much so far, and I had not reread any of them in so long, so I donated them to the local library. They probably put them on their summer yard sale but oh well, somebody new got to enjoy them that way.

My grands would love to have a foot of snow, Sunny. I hope your roads are ok.

The roads are a mess and the power keeps going out. DH called and said trees are on the lines and the lines are on fire, we got our power back but it will be hit or miss for many along our area. This is the heaviest snow I have seen in awhile....the trees are breaking under the weight.

It is a good day to hide under the covers...sadly I have to go start the tractor and clean the gate.

that is sad news, Sunny. as I have said many times, I would not mind snow, but only if it would stay off of the roads and the sidewalks...and of course your gate area.
Sorry about the trees.

sorry also about the power..that is a scary situation.

I hope none of those dangerous trees are near your gates, Sunny. And I hope this is the last heavy snow of winter.
We have red flag warnings for fires here. We are hot, dry and windy here.

It didn't warm up but the wind died down a little. It doesn't seem so cold when the wind isn't blowing.

Junie, I think you like cozy mysteries. I do too. Not too much blood and gore, and certainly no Pulitzer Prize winners, but a good plot and fun to read. I also love Agatha Christie. See if your library has Christmas at The Mysterious Bookshop. It's a real bookshop in New York and the owner is a publisher, in real life, and every year he commissions an author to write a short story involving the bookshop. The book is 17 of those short stories and they're soooo good.

Sunny, every time we have any amount of snow our power lines and trees go down. You wouldn't even consider the amount we get a snow fall smile but for some reason our power lines can't take it.

Yes, Sheri. They are cozy mysteries.
Besides the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries by Angie Fox,
I like the Firefly Junction Mysteries by London Lovett. She is getting ready to release Book #10 on February 1.
I have a signed copy of Book # 9, and I was so very tickled/surprised by it's arrival. It was the best surprise I have had in awhile. I usually read books on my kindle but lately I seem to like hard copy books a bit more.

Thanks for the tip on the bookshop stories. I will read them soon.

I watched a show on the PBS station here tonight. It happened to be, "Inside The Mind Of Agatha Christy. I enjoyed it very much.

It wasn't on our Canadian calendar but it should be, sorry I missed that fact.

The only thing on the news today of the day is what they call 'Blue Monday'....apparently it is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. why

I've got an apple pie in the oven, it smells wonderful but I just can't get myself to eat it because of the texture.

The smell of an apple pie should take care of the Monday blues or any day blues. I'm not a big fan of pear or apple pie but they do smell delicious cooking.

One thing that's happened during covid is that I've gotten over my phobia about eating meat that's been frozen. I even buy an extra loaf of bread and freeze it.

I buy huge amounts of meat and other foods.....I fill my chest freezer. Right now I have 3 loaves of sliced bread and 4 loaves of bread dough in the freezer as I type. In defense of the bread dough, you buy it frozen, thaw it out, let it rise and bake it...so I did not chose to put it in the freezer, I had to.

I am glad that you got over your freezer meat and bread phobia though, Sheri. Thus virus has to be good for sonething....

No, Tangela did not bring the groceris today. She woke this morning with a non-covid health issue. But that is gone so the plan is for tomorrow.

Is Tangela feeling any better Tina...from the Covid fatigue I mean.

I just got done watching a movie called, "Room". It was so real-like that I searched it only to find out it was partially based on a true story of a woman who was held captive. It is amazing what people can live through and scary to see the evil that is out there in the world.

That is good to hear.

They announced last night that they are closing down the Western part of our province at midnight tonight for at least a full two week lock down....so that means that everyone will be out today in full force at every store that they can find, I can see the cases rising by next week because of it.

Hi all,

We are still the worst state in the us for Covid cases, seems if there is no law to wear a mask the idiots will not wear one... we do but half the people who go out won't.. it's their right to be stupid...guess it's their right to die painfully and alone too... do not understand how dumb they can be...

Hubby went and topped up our grocery supplies today... in for long haul again .... we tried delivery but they can't get it right so he goes and gloves and masks up... showers when he gets home... we wipe down and keep stuff outside for a while too... rather be to cautious than not...

I spent some time doing tax stuff . printing on line stuff and such... hopefully will have it all soon.. did some mending this morning and kind of straighten up my office, it ends up being the junk pile room... but it's fairly cleaned up now...

Well guess I will go read some more of my book.. hubby is making dinner. grilling steaks for us...says he is going to do hot dogs and burgers too .. supposed to get cold and even snow this coming few days so we will have dinners made for a while...

Well off to read or watch tv... or both... stay well all...
Nana

Great to hear from you Nana, take care and keep safe.

I am glad Tangela is on the mend Tina, that must be such a relief for you.

Junie, the movie was partially based on two different women, I'll have to search for the names. She was taken as a teen and kept for 7 yrs, she had a child in captivity....and when she is found, her family can't accept the child at first. It was so real and sad that I knew it had to be true.

I'm looking forward to another rainy day followed by a rainy week. I don't come in much during stormy weather. But rain is so nice. It's a wonderfull trade off.

Glad you're getting some rain Tina. Suppose to be 73° here Tuesday. I planted radishes today. I was surprised at how warm the ground is. The are I planted in has been covered with tons of leaves and I guess they really hold in the warmth.

Also glad Tangela is getting better.

Junie what time did you wake up going to sleep at that time? I hope you got a nap this afternoon.

It is ok Sheri James or I can close a thread. I just closed " What did you do in the garden, 2020" . You are good to go.

Sheri, i woke up at 9:40 central time.....we "go to church" by listening to our services over a radio broadcast. It begins at 10:30 central, and I wanted to put a coffee cake in the oven before the services began.

Yes, it lasted less than an hour. Accumulation was only on bare dirt or grassy areas, on top of fences and cars. It rained more and washed it all away soon enough. We may not be done with it this week.

The news I head for is happy news. Escaped animals going to a sanctuary and such. It helps set my mood. Things like the Tubman 20 dollar bill coming out soon. And science stuff. It is amazing the things we don't know and we're discovering.
Good morning.

Speaking of snow, a friend who lives somewhere close to the mountains in northern California says they may get 100 inches from the coming storm. I can't even imagine it.

I don't know what happened to my 73° pea planting weather that was supposed to show up today. The high was 52° and it rained and still is raining. Brother.

I went to the library today and to the drug store.

Yes, I'm not in the mountains but on the side of one near the bottom at less than 3000 ft. elevation. We're are to get pounded with rain and possible snow tomorrow and Thursday. I'm looking forward to that.
Sweet dreams all.
