Good morning. I would be such a liability on anyone's farm now, Sunny. I dream of waking each morning and all the things I would accomplish. The reality is much different, however. It takes so much effort (and meds) to just get perpendicular to the floor. And a little while into my day I need a nap. It is sad getting old.

Tina, do not feel bad...that's what working hard all one's life leads to.  Getting old isn't for sissies. I have been making egg rolls, taco rolls, and donair rolls. I skipped the pizza rolls this year due to the cost of the ingredients. My eyes are burning from the grease smell though.

Our province just received 1950 units of Covid vaccine. It is stored at a hospital about a 90 minute drive from here...they will begin vaccinating the doctors, paramedics and nurses first It is a good start.

Our area got 2900 doses..mind you I dont know if that means that it will vaccinate 2900 people or i it will vaccinate 1450 people as everyone will get 2 doses...

It has been double doses for half the people in most states, Carol. But the Governor of Florida wants to spread it around so people only get one dose. The vaccine is made for two doses 4 weeks apart. I don't know that one will do a lot.

Tina, I meant when they said we had 2900 doses..that I didnt know if that mean in essence 5800 shots for 2900 people or if that meant 2900 shots for half as many people. Sorry...I often am not clear..sorry.
I heard tonight that now a vaccine from Maderna (sp?) will soon be ready for distrabution.
I still have a few gifts to arrive to me yet..here's hoping !

And what I said didn't make as much sense as I wished it did. When they say they are getting say 5000 doses, they usually mean for 2500 people.
Pfizer took a pre-order from us for something like 100,000,000 doses. But now they are so booked up around the world with order for more we have to get in the back of the line to get more. Behind much of the rest of the world.
Moderna is a better deal because their vaccine doesn't need to be kept as cold as Pfizer's. A regular freezer works. And it lives longer than Pfizer's in standard refrigeration. I don't know how much we pre-ordered from them. And more vaccines are on their heels.

minus -15*F this morning....gone is the mild weather we were having. GG still has a sore throat so I will keep her home(it is going around at school), no other symptoms just the throat issue with all the kids. I have to call today to arrange some curbside pick ups for DH(vet and farm supplies) for tomorrow. I'll get a large grocery pick up as well so I don't have to be out until after Christmas. Today is my 'Christmas baking' day.

Yes, Sunny was busy baking.....different kinds of brownies, sugar cookies, scotch shortbread cookies, butterscotch squares, gingerbread men, molasses cookies and homemade chocolates. GG was home yesterday to help.
Today I am running errands for DH and parcel pick ups for the both of us.

The sun has come back out today and I'm going to get my hair trimmed. My hair's got where it won't curl won't stay straight just wants to stick straight out at weird angles. It won't flatten even with a curling iron. I have too much hair to wear a headband or I'd just push it back. I hope the hair lady can help me.
I've got to wrap a few gifts today and try to find some Christmas socks to take to Ginger's.

Yes, laundry does seem to multiply all by itself. Strangest phenomenon there is.
Sheri..my hair is lime that...I had my hairdresser cut it shorter last summer so I did not have to go back as quickly, and it would not lay right no matter what I did. So I gave been letting it grow out, which it is slow in doing. I have an appt. New Years Eve...but I may nit keep that one.

Good morning. I am so glad I can cut my own hair and others, like my son's.. And that my OCD daughter shops for me.
Wednesday California registered over 52,000 new cases in one day. That is over 50% more than any other state ever for a single day. All of our hospitals are maxed out as are our Doctors and nurses. And we have had a state wide mask mandate for a long time. Nothing is open. Except grocers, drug stores and hospitals. And takeout food.

I offered to trim up Rod's a bit, but he said nevermind he was going to let it grow until he felt safe to go to his beautician.

My hair is wavy in parts, curly in sections, and very curly in other sections so I try not to cut it myself. Sometimes I can't help it but then I regret it. The very front of my hair will part in the middle if I'm not careful and I have a cowlick at my right forehead. It can look very bad with just one cut. Looks like she's done a pretty good job. I'll know for sure one I sleep on it.
So far I've kept up covering the kitchen window boxes at night but I'm getting pretty sick of doing it. I almost forgot tonight. Want my big tree back.

Tina, when I am bored I try to watch a movie. I can't sit still long enough any other time to watch from first to finish....I watched the remake of 'The Magnificent Seven', it was pretty good. I like western/country style movies.
DH is off today so there is lots of farm chores to catch up on. He sold all our horses this week and is moving around walls in the barn...we are losing our Equine vet services in our area so having animals that we have no way of treating if something goes wrong is not an option for him. They are going to a good home(in our neighboring province) so all is good. It is going to be strange not having any around though...farming will soon be a thing of the past, it is sad.

Tina, I still have cattle and will continue as long as I can. Junie, yes it is a lot less work.....it's just sad not to look out and see them. The money from the horse sale will get invested in more cattle if we can find what we like.

Yes, I understand it is sad Sunny.....Horses are beautiful ! Hopefully you will soon be looking out at the cattle and smiling in much the same way you used to look out at the horses.
I have been getting daily updates on 2 packages that I ordered on the 11 th. Gifts were mailed out on the 12 th and were slated to be delivered the 14 th. Not delivered yet....
I guess I should he happy they are keeping me informed, huh ?

GB arrives today and will spend a week here while DD works her shifts and she'll be here Christmas Eve afternoon and for Christmas...he is so excited. Then we get to do it all again next week. Not having any day care available for the Christmas break is going to be hard for a lot of people working....DD already can only work the hours that GB is in school.

Good early morning. I think I will go back to bed for a bit. A lost kitten had us up early by crying for it's family. It was found by daddy cat and is safe now. It won't be losing sight of mamma so soon now. Or vice versa.
Day care is hard on all parents, Sunny. I would love to see more options around post pandemic. Employment based with emphasizing CARE. It would go a long way towards growth in restructuring economies. And be an economic boon by itself.

Yes Tina, the day cares are so expensive that most single moms are better off home on welfare financially...that is just sad.

4 days until Christmas now Junie.
We are going to get bad weather the day of here, and they are still not sure if it will be snow, freezing rain or rain. I am thinking of having our big meal Christmas Eve night if the forecast does not change....that way DH can be home for it. He will have to work all Christmas Day if we get bad weather.

Yea, that is a good idea...snacking around Christmas Day would be easier anyway. You could make it so everyone would be able to microwave leftovers. and there will be desserts, so you will be golden. We are eating some beef and baked potatoes Christmas day. I think Chili on Christmas Eve...but I have no idea what I will make for my nice meal when Valarie and her crew come over..that should be nice, or at least lots.

Yep, rain is preferable to snow/ice...It still has not learned to stay off of the roads and sidewalks...snow I mean. IMO ice can just stay away permanently. If we need moisture, it can rain...

The roofs are done, the snow is moved and the house is cleaned and mopped...I convinced my mother to keep the kids until supper time Did you do a curbside pick up instead Junie?

I got my mopping and vacuuming done....
I do not think this store has curbside pick up, Sunny.
It is a hardware/deli/kwiki mart/ mini walmart kind of store. But no curbside pick up.
Tomorrow is my Wal-Mart grocery pick up. We will do that after we go to the MK supply.

We just got back from shopping. We were in the store..whjch was glorious..they had Christmas Music and there were toys and other gifts...and a huge tree. It was a short but nice trip.

I have been posting regularly morning and evening. And sometimes during the day, Carol. I have been at home for nearly a year. I really don't have a lot to talk about. My life really doesn't have many highs or lows. I spend a lot of time on the pandemic news but so much of that has gotten very political. And politics is verboten here. And my evening news is almost pure politics. But I have a good idea what is going on in the world right now which is better than it was when my life was taken up with diapers and report cards.

Yes I see you..it was just that the other day I had not seen you so I wondered. It is not like anyone is going to come on here and say if any of us get sick or something. I used to be able to count on my DD to do that for me..but she forgot her registration i forrmation. and with this virus she cannot.so easily just come over here and use my computer and info..
That is a good rule about politics..I do not like to talk politics or religion. I figure we all have a right to think and feel they way we do..and so that should be left alone.
I dont pay as much attention to politics as I used to. I see some things said that I know for a fact are not true..so I wonder about the rest...I am happy with how I watch/ listen now.

I remember those diaper days Tina, I kept DD in cloth diapers for many months until Winter came and she was getting a rash from using the clothes dryer to dry them.....I gave up sadly. Glad you got out Junie. I am taking playdoh out of everything today, it is stuck everywhere....and to think I got GB another set for Christmas.

Ah diapers..my oldest wore cloth unless we went visiting..it was hard to take soiled diapers home. Then when it go to be 2 or more weeks between loads of diapers I switched to all disposable. Also it got to where they were so stained and I used real bleach to soak them, they got really yellow..as there was a reaction with the bleach and my iron rich water. It was 6 years between children for me, so I used all disposable on my second daughter. I told my DH it was my "hobby"

Hi all,
Just finished figuring out new budget for the new year... why does nothing ever go down? Not much new here .. staying home is getting pretty boring.. it's chilly here too, not as cold as most of you but to cold to sit outside...
We are doing tamales , rice and beans for Christmas Eve dinner... just us so not doing a big meal... will have leftovers for the day ... will call all the kids and face time with them... sent gift cards to everyone too... everyone is inside so they can computer shop with them...
Well it's way past lunch time but need to go eat... took a while to redo budget and need to finish up laundry too... it never seems to go away does it.... ?

We've been at Gingers - came home today. I had a great time, weather was good. It's supposed to start raining here tomorrow and then the temperature is supposed to drop 20° on Friday. But somehow a tornado watch has been issued for us too. I've never heard of a tornado happening when it's 20° but it is 2020.

We went to Shelley's today and decorated gingerbread houses and had Christmas in the garage. A little bit chilly and rainy but I'm glad we were able to get together at 6 feet distances.

We Skyped for an hour of more with my youngest and her family that live on the East coast.......It was so mich fun to watch the kids open their gifts..esp. the 2 year old...she thought all gifts were for her to open, and that they all contained fun things for her ! It was adorable.I

I hate doing dishes,.I think they.multiply just like laundry.

Back from the store, it was not a fun experience. Two years here and it still upsets me that I cannot find the brands I am used to.

Sorry for the chilly weather, Sheri..but that will not be long lived, right ???
Tomorrow will be cleaning and bringing the kids gifts upstairs. Then Wednesday it will be cooking time. Kids are coming over for supper. They are forecasting ice here for Wednesday night. I do so hope they are mistaken.

Sweet dreams all. It rained all night and most of the day today. That is a very good thing. I think our last rain was about a half inch in late September.
