My extra string of good weather is coming to a close. There is some sleet in the surrounding area...We will get the colder weather from it, but I hope the sleet stays away. I will be happy to go the whole winter w/o seeing ice in any form. Hey, I can hope !

Sorry for the sleet. We can't function in ice around here. Southerners need to stay home at the first sign of ice. We've been at Ginger's and her yard is full of butterflies because all her flowers are blooming. I didn't see any bees but the butterflies are amazing. I have some flowers blooming but haven't seen a butterfly for at least a month. Where do they go in the winter anyway? Her little area has a wonderful bakery and a wonderful donut shop. Reasonably priced on everything. It's been pouring rain here most of the day and I think it's gonna rain for the rest of the week. Darbi came home for Thanksgiving and got a message that she's a virus contact, so she had to stay in her room for 2 days, then go get tested, came back negative, so she can come out of her room but can't go back to school since they get out December 8th anyway. I don't understand all the rules. I guess she can still convert to positive but she was told she doesn't have to quarantine anymore so I don't understand why she can't go back to school.

There have been 2 adult cases at Ginger's school and they both recovered without being hospitalized. The young in shape man was sicker longer than the overweight out of shape woman. Sounds backward doesn't it. Or maybe the man just complained louder. Who knows. Ginger says the man says it felt like an awful flu and the lady said it was like having any virus for a few days and she used her 2 weeks of quarantine to decorate and shop online for Christmas.

Hello Sheri. Yes, those Covid rules do sound a bit confusing. About the 2 people....I guess it depends on how long you were exposed to the virus and how strong your immune system is, huh ?? This virus seems to hit people so differently.

Our weather is all messed up..at least I think so, but really I thought the south did not have to deal with ice much at all. Am I right ???

Yay for good and reasonably priced bakeries and donut shops !

Aren't you only a couple hundred miles south of where you lived before, Carol? That's not so much to alter the climate that much.
Sweet dreams all.

Good morning !
Yes Tina, we are just over 150 miles south from where we were. And it takes between 2 and 2-1/2 hours to drive home.....but the heat down here is much harsher than at home....So far that is the main difference that I have found.

We are 212 miles from Ginger and our temperatures vary 10° sometimes. It's so much hotter in the summer at her house and the flying bugs are soooo much worse at her house. We are 416 miles from my sister in West Virginia and our summer time weather mimics her weather more often than Ginger's - THANK GOODNESS - because I couldn't stand 10 more degrees. I do NOT like the heat. Until my sisters hard winter sets in we're pretty much the same. Once the snow visits her everything changes.

We do get snow once in a while and we can't drive in that either. We get ice more than snow. It seems if our temps get below 32° it's always raining and it's always sleet. And its always a catastrophe because we're not prepared. We get iced in a couple of times a winter.

I love watching the show Hoarders.

Don't feel bad..I cannot drive well in ice or snow either, Sheri. I think it is good to know your limitations. I know mine.

I am in heaven. I am eating MY fried green tomatoes for my lunch !! Color me happy !..and I will get another meal too.. But then that will be the end of home grown tomatoes for the year.

Yep, you got it...now to win the lottery...I

I just went out and got the last green tomatoes off of my mostly froze out lone tomato plant. (There were still unfrozen leaves on a potion of the plant) I will be getting another patio tomato pant again next year for sure. This one survived until last night.

Enjoy the last of your tomatoes Junie.

It has been raining all day, there is not a flake of snow to be found anywhere on the ground. We are under rainfall advisories for three days in a row. touched

I am cooking my meat for the annual meat pie making, it was a good day to do it because I can open all the windows to leave the steam out with this mild weather.

junie, that's great about your tomatoes. I think if I hadn't pulled mine up they would have made it until tonight when it's supposed to get below freezing. I have been able to get them at the farmers market though. Nothing like fresh tomatoes.

Sunny, tell me again what a meat pie is? Meat in a crust? I like meat and I like crust soooo when you when we come for the snow ride, fix those for us. What do you consider mild weather?

Went to a funeral today. Nothing to do with covid. We have another funeral Thursday. This one won't be outside and they are allowing 50 people, so we are walking in, signing the book, and walking right back out. I imagine everyone will be wearing a mask but we're not taking any chances.

Meat pie is shredded beef and pork that has been slow cooked, onions and seasonings added then put in a pie crust and baked. It is a holiday treat here. Mild weather is 54*F when it supposed to be around 10*F this time of year, it is very strange.

It is a good day here so far Tina, the pies have been all finished and put in the freezer and the dishes are all washed and put away.

How many pies do you cook, Sunny? How big are they? I've always wondered. Meat pies that I've had were always small individual sized. But I've seen some in family size.

And you freeze them to eat whenever you decide to eat one? I would love them.

Every since I said I was going to cover my window boxes when it's cold to see if I can keep them through the winters it's been below freezing every night. Getting tired of doing it already.

Sheri--sorry about the window boxes..perhaps you should put on out on the closed in porch (you have one right?) that way it would be easier to cover on the coldest nights..

Hi all,
I guess we all have been busy.... my house is almost done being decorated for the holidays....hubby got me two more of the bigger houses for my village scene... for got he would need more electric strips for the lights so went out for them,,, he is back so it will be back to wiring it all up now... then I get to add the people and trees etc... hopefully it will turn out good.. will take a pic...

I came in my ofc to check the bank and the site is down... pain in the tookus... good thing most of the bills are on auto pay, but would like to see it anyway... will check later if my phone app works...

One of my grands , he's 19 had the covid... works at Target and someone who knew they were sick came to work... so he got it from him,,, he is ok now,, dd kept him in his room and disinfected his bathroom every time he used it.. his bro had to use the one in the parents room for the duration,,, do now understand the people who don't believe it...sure hope the rest don't get it... dd and two of the boys work in the grocery.. even with cleaning it's scary.... but people have to eat...

Well off to finish decorating and then clean up the house mess from decorating, have boxes in my office to hold the stuff we took down to put Christmas up... keeping door closed for the duration...

Have a good day all and stay well.

Nana

Decorating DOES make a mess. But the end result is lovely.

I'm such a dumbo. It occurred to me last night that chicken pot pies are meat pies and I can buy those at the store. Not as good as Sunny's homemade but better than nothing and the crust is pretty good.

Junie wonder why you can't sleep. Wonder if warm milk really works.

A lot of people have sleep issues these days. It is such different times dealing with this pandemic and such. When I start getting messed up in my sleep patterns, I work really hard at curing that.
