Our snow storm from last night has melted already...this is a strange November. I am back to bare ground once again....It rained all morning.

It was a good day to clean and mop.

Gee clean and mop..I need to clean the floor in this living room/dining room area. It is not dirty, but it is very dusty. As I have said before..I don't mind doing it..but it practically takes a court order to get me started.

The ad that pops up when I sign is is annoying. I have to stop the page, wait then reload the page then reload once again to type my post. I hope this is not going to be a regular thing for our site.

I think it is going to be a laundry and baking day ahead.

It didn't happen this time around. Junie, I hate clicking on ads when I am not sure what it is....so i go the long, annoying way to get rid of them.

Baking is done and I have a spaghetti sauce for DH and I simmering and a chicken soup for GG. It sure smells good in here lol

It's supposed to be 31° tonight so I covered the kitchen window boxes. I thought they got murdered the other day but it was just the wind and everything popped back up. If my coverings don't get blown off maybe they'll live and I'll have lovely window boxes all winter because we're not supposed to have much cold.

I still have my one potted tomato plant. Everytime it is going to get close to freezing I go out and.put.a.blanket.over it. And a towel. i take my clip clothes pins out and.clip the.2 together and shut. It is Nov.17 and I still have green tomatoes growing. Here is hoping.

It is so cool to know that things are still growing out there somewhere.....that makes me smile. grin

I just put the stove on self clean....I need to do that more often, at this rate I am going to have to open windows. The grease build up from pork chops in the oven is terrible. I always wanted a self clean oven and now that I have it...I keep forgetting to use it.

I don't have much planned for today. I might get out the Christmas lights so that the grands can set them up outdoors this weekend. thumbup

That's what I was thinking Tina. I took the kids for a drive the other day when I took GB home and they were excited to see people already had their lights all lit up.

I've ran out of laundry to do...that doesn't happen very often lol

another plus to putting the Christmas decorations up is the fact that if you put up outside decorations the weather is better. of course festive is the best reason these days.

I've covered the window boxes 2 nights but it's supposed 36° for a low tonight so I didn't cover them. When the big tree was out there they were protected, sort of, but it's gone so I have to do it.

I got our Christmas tree stuff out of the attic but haven't done anything with it. I might be a little depressed. I need to get myself in gear tomorrow.

Glad your phone is fixed Tina.

Yay for working phones....if I could get my computer to work right I'd be happy. I have no clue what half the stuff that it has in it is for and I worry if I delete stuff than it will crash.

Bestofour, your family has been going through a lot.....prayers and well wishes being sent your way kissie

It is snowing at the moment, the big pretty kind of flakes....GB is waiting to go out to make a snowman later.

Good morning. I remember dressing the kids for snow. It took forever. And then after a short time playing, there was the longer part of undressing them and putting the parts out to dry. Parts = clothing, not parts of kids.

Tina, that's funny. I've been cold enough to want to put my parts out to dry smile I remember when Ginger was little one time we went skiing and she came off the mountain with icicles on her eye lashes. It was so cold that day.

Thank you for the prayers and well wishes.

It's currently 63° and sunny in my yard. These Asian ladybugs are confused.

I have cherry turnovers. The puff pastry makes me feel light and the cherries are almost medicinally cheerful. I love food.

Sounds delicious Tina, I love food as well....as one can tell from the size of my butt. haha

I just got done wrapping some Christmas presents. If I don't wrap them then the grands keep looking until they find what is bought for them, this year I beat them to it.

I forgot to add the pic of my flooring for you to see, the pic isn't the best because it is from my cheap cell phone but it gives you an idea of the color. The ceramic tile under the stove has a wood grain pattern as well.

I'll also throw in a pic of my 'girls' since I was doing the barn work this morning because DH got called out to work early because of the snow falling.

Lovely photos Sunny. You have a nice little " herd" there......

And I must say that is a nice floor. I think you did a wonderful job. AND IMO the ceramic looks to be an almost exact match.

There was a bad accident by my house last night, the driver landed at my door for help.....he looked like an actor from one of those zombie shows(he was covered in blood). I am waiting for the police to call me back with more details, I never slept all night.

Apparently he goes with a local girl but they live a 4 hour drive away. It took me hours to sort out who he was and to contact some of the family. He was so incoherent that we couldn't get all the facts at once.

I have too many accident scenes in my life.

Hi all,
Sunny that sounds awful, so glad you were able to help and no fatalities,... prayers for all.

I just finished bill paying for the month... money left over so that is good....LOL!
Heard from my youngest dd yesterday, her next to oldest had covid.... he is doing okay now but was sick for about a week and they were all quarantined .. still have a few days of that... not a huge problem for them as they will get paid at least... but one of the boys is high risk and her hubby is too... at least their house is big enough they could isolate him easily... hopefully no one else will get it...
my inlaws here still don't isolate and let everyone they know come over... worry about her a lot as she is diabetic, but guess they still believe its not dangerous.... we haven't been out there since March....

I am going to work on my office today and clean it up... ends up being room to stash stuff and it's a mess...
Well off to make some lunch... then clean some... have a good rest of today all, stay well...

Nana

Reading way back Tina I like the pastry on turnovers too. And cherry turnovers are the best.

Sunny your floor looks lovely and your girls are gorgeous. The end of our driveway seems to be the stopping point for every flat tire, or out of gas person, or lost person. It's been this way since we moved in here. Thankfully we haven't had anyone covered in blood. Would have scared me out of what little wits I have.

Junie, thank you for the card. You're very kind. Johnny is having a terrible time with this. I don't think he's slept since she died.

Sunny, glad there were no fatalities in the accident.

Sheri, you are welcome. I find cards really do help...I was happy to send it.

Nana: good to see you, and so sorry your Grandson has Covid. I hope he recovers easily.

Tina..I bought 2 turnovers a few days ago, and yes the pastry was the best part. So you made yours with puff pastry ?

Goodnight sleep tight everyone.

No, I do not bake them, I buy them from a local bakery. One that uses real sugar. No HFCS.

It's nice to see Nana and Bestofour check in. thumbup

I have seen puff pastry dough sold in a big grocery store before not sure if they still make the 'old tube' type. I remember my mom used to buy it when I was younger. I have made it twice from scratch before and it was a process that I'd rather not do again lol

Baking bread and sweets today...it is too cold to do anything outdoors.

Good morning.

I am doing prep work for Thanksgiving today..then early in the morning I will bake my one loaf of bread and my 2 pies. ( peanut butter pie for Rod..pumpkin for me). I have a who!e chicken not a turkey and it is just under 6 pounds so no need for it to be on a dawn...

I have a can if boughten cranberry sauce that I am "doctoring". Then the usuals along with..just not.great quantities..since it is just Rod and I.

Frozen puff pastry is still available in freezer sections everywhere. I was always too tired after reading the recipe for it to attempt it. Same with egg roll and other thin pastry sheets. Yeast breads, not a problem though.

That's a large chicken Junie...here it would be hard to find one over 4 pounds. Turkey or not, it will be a nice Thanksgiving meal for you and Rod.

Tina, do you order often from the bakery?....it must be nice to have one available to you.

I ended up making a batch of dinner rolls and a sugar pie.

Yes, my daughter picks them up for me every time she shops for us. That would be a less than weekly, about three times a month.

Yes you most certainly are blessed, Tina.

No bakery here. A coffee shop with donuts and a few muffins, and a lunch menu of sorts (one offering each day) but no bakery. I miss being able to order nut rolls and such for the holidays like I could back home.
Sunny, I ordered online..the option was to order a chicken between 5 and 8 pounds. At least I did not get one any larger.

There is a bakery where my daughter lives but it is terribly expensive....I understand it costs money to run a business but there is no way I'd pay $8 for a slice of cake.

Will Val be having their own meal as well Junie?

Yes, they bought a large turkey..she said the larger Turkeys were half the price of the tiny ones..so she was going to cook and bring us a plate...but as it is I am betting they go to Brian' s family. They none do social distancing which is odd as Brian's sister is a nurse practitioner with a doctorate...

Yes, my turnovers cost me about a dollar apiece right now in a pack of four. I've paid over $5 for them. Bakery items can be pricey.

Good morning. We started of this month with a splash of rain and that gave me high hopes for more. But it has been bone dry the rest of the month and nothing in the foreseeable future.
I am very thankful for all of you, my not-so-imaginary-friends.

Aw Tina kissie That is so kind to say.

I just got back from my grocery pick up....and the bananas are green this time around. It is the cheapest fruit that we can buy here so I always try to keep it stocked. It's not my Thanksgiving but I am still thankful for fresh fruit today(clementines, apples and bananas).....and my DH will be thankful that they had his favorite mixed Christmas candy as well. (I told them as soon as it came in to put away three bags for me) lol

So, every time someone mentions the lack of fruits and veggies in winter, I go back, mentally, to our before times. The pioneers right through the more recent times like my grandmothers. The pioneers went out and harvested everything they could. And spent copious time preserving it all for winter. Following that is trains and truck transport all of our needs all over the place, but the smart people still preserved as much as possible for their winter needs. Canned goods came about and we sacrificed some nutrition and money for cheap convenience and time. Refrigerators in homes, bread and milk deliveries on your doorstep. I love historical stories.
Have a happy Thanksgiving all.

So true Tina, I preserve what I can as well but I still crave fresh fruit. I remember my grandmother said that in her day that they'd give kids tea brewed from rose hips in Winter....to keep rickets away. She said that canned apples were a staple as their only fruit in Winter besides the bottle of jam for bread.

Hello.

Yes ladies you are right..my mom " canned" tomatoes, tomato juice, beets, green beans, various pickles, and she even put up jelly....but that never seemed to last long. My aunt dud the same. I also remember my grandmother turned her closet into a preserved food pantry..and it was always full. My how things have changed. I still make some jam, and I freeze a lot...but I do not trust me with preserving.
Tina, we eat mainly frozen veggies here..I lime the convenience and nutritive value of the frozen.

Pies and cranberry salad done... " chicken" in the oven.....giblets and chicken odds and ends simmering on the stove with veggies to make gravy with. In my 2 nd hour of roasting I will make the potatoes and green bean casserole.

Thanks Tina..it did turn out nicely..and there is enough left to eat tomorrow. That is the best part.

The whole Dudley family will have a Zoom date tomorrow at some point. My sister is going to let us know the time. I tried to call Valarie..but no answer. I left a message...Then in the early evening we called Emily. We had a nice visit with her.

I am looking forward to the zoom call tomorrow.

Did you get to "see" any of your family ??

Well, I've got Jonni and Teddy here with me. And I did talk to Tangela today. That is about all I wanted of the day. Hopefully next year would be better.

That is good Tina. Are all of your kids living in the same state as you now?

I got some of the outdoor decor up...I snipped a few branches of greenery from the backs of the evergreen trees in my yard. It was too wet to go back in the woods lol

Our nativity is put out and lit, my living room is decorated, and my small tree is up and has lights. I will finish putting ornaments on tomorrow.

Did anyone get any good Black Friday deals ?? I did not, sad to say.

Goodnight sleep well my friends

I got one without even knowing it. DD's work place had picnic hams at 75% off and they were only allowed one per customer. She bought me one and had the stock boy put one through for her as well. I was Black Friday shopping without even shopping. haha
