We have had that type of weather back in IL on occasion at times over the years. But usually in the spring. It is really strange..I feel sorry for the plants.

Happy Sunday to you all.

I was up early. Then I laid back down for a nap. Until the sun streaming through my windows woke me.
Good morning.

Good Morning, Tina. Glad that you got some extra sleep in.

This morning, I changed over my shelf decorations to Halloween. After lunch I have it set up to paint the girl' s pumpkin. I cannot wait.

We saw these plaster items..and of course I began to look..well they had a unicorn/pumpkin..and a tractor/truck. so I will make the pumpkin and give it to the girls in the next few days for a Halloween decoration (I will leave it on Val's table on her front porch) and then I will paint the tractor/truck and try to fill it with mini pumpkins & such & give it to Henry for a Thanksgiving decoration.

And OH !! Rod brought up our card table and put it on the sun porch so I can paint there when I take a notion but do not have to put away thigns all the time..plus it is very light out there,,YAY !!!

The grands decorated here a bit as well yesterday...I am not fond of the mess on the table though. It seems that GB found a permanent marker and colored so heavily with it that when the paper was lifted, I can see the same picture on my table. It's my fault though for not hiding those markers well enough. I'll have a Halloween reminder for awhile now lol

We had a heavy frost this morning but it sure looks pretty with the sun shining.

I lived on a hill, the only hill in town, in Waterbury, Ct. There was a huge ice storm that closed the whole state for three days. It was a horrible disaster without electricity for most, but my little hill was spared and I had heat. The view out my windows was glorious with the ice encrusted trees and everything. Like living above a valley full of diamonds. Now diamonds are about my least favorite precious stone because they are cold and don't please me. But that view was awesome.
Frost is pretty. Like fire is pretty until it's destroying something you care about.

Ah the ice storm..I remember that. We had 2. One at the farm...that was so pretty, just as you say... I have a photo of the house and the trees coated in ice..so ptetty. That is what made Rod decide that a fireplace would be a good thing to have. Then when living in town, with a fireplace, we too had 3 days w/o power. But the fireplace worked..it was gas but had no blower hooked up to it. We lived in the livingroom for those 3 days. As luck would have it we also has a gas stove so we could eat too.
Ah memoried...

Today a fire started up the canyon from me about eight miles away. They jumped on it quickly and kept it down to about ten acres and were able to call off the backup they had requested. Sweating here.

Always an evac plan. It's out. Actually, other than the stress involved, I like these small fires. They clear land that helps make a firebreak for the next fire that comes along.
Sweet dreams, Carol.

Glad to hear that you have an evac plan. I will l rest easier. I hope you never need one, but it makes me happy to know that you have one. For now, glad the fires are out.
Rest well, Tina.

Stay safe Tina, at the rate it is going....California is going to be more firebreak than residential, and that is sad.

Yes, California has lost 4 million acres to fires. That 4% of our state. It is a lot of fires. And I am truly saddened for a lot of people.

Tina, it must be close to impossible to get fire insurance there in some places?

I started my laminate flooring installation today. I am already frustrated on how it is a fight to get it to click together....probably my fault for buying the cheapest I could find. Mind you, DH's boss said they bought the vinyl laminate and wasted more than they put down. He said it kept breaking apart.

Thanks, it will have no choice but to work out although for the cheap price....I find it looks very nice indeed. It does look like an expensive oak wide board with nice knots here and there.

Rain here for today and the rest of the week, I wish it could find it's way to you Tina.

Sunny did you finish putting down your new floor?

I was born here, Sheri. As an adult with a baby, I was at loose ends and an opportunity came up to move and included housing already paid for. I took it. I wanted to see what 'seasons' were. I stayed a year or so then. Then came home and had baby #2. Went back after, married and stuck around a few years until that relationship failed. Came back permanently.
Winters are fine when you are young. I am not any more. I am home.

So glad you are at " home" Tina. I am glad that you are happy there.

I went out to the meat market today. Noone was there, so I stocked up. I will be good for awhile, thank goodness.

No Sheri, I am about 1/3 done...I smashed my finger causing me to take it slower than I'd like.

Tina, they say there is no place like home, I am glad you are back to where you want to be.

Junie, food ahead is a blessing.

It is cold and damp today, I need to put my woodstove back in place and put up the pipes....the temps are dropping daily.

I have never moved my woodstoves. My smaller, airtight one weighs 4oo pounds. I do not know the weight on the other, larger one. I have moved the pipes for cleaning and such.
You go, Sunny.

Good morning. The woodstoves in my house when we.were growing up were in place where they were. As were my Grandma's. Now our wood burner at the farm was very permanent. But it was out in a shed. The heat was piped into the house via underground pipes then thru the gas furnace ductwork. Have said it many times before. That was the best heat there ever was.
I
Take care Sunny.

Another warm day here.

Wow Junie. That burner at the farm is quite the set up. I'll bet it would warm up fast and feel so good. When we first moved into this house we had oil heat and it was wonderful.

I got paper towels today but the paper towel shelf was getting low. Still no Lysol but everything else is available.

I think we're supposed to get some rain from Delta.
