We have had that type of weather back in IL on occasion at times over the years. But usually in the spring. It is really strange..I feel sorry for the plants.

Happy Sunday to you all.

I was up early. Then I laid back down for a nap. Until the sun streaming through my windows woke me.
Good morning.

Good Morning, Tina. Glad that you got some extra sleep in.

This morning, I changed over my shelf decorations to Halloween. After lunch I have it set up to paint the girl' s pumpkin. I cannot wait.

We saw these plaster items..and of course I began to look..well they had a unicorn/pumpkin..and a tractor/truck. so I will make the pumpkin and give it to the girls in the next few days for a Halloween decoration (I will leave it on Val's table on her front porch) and then I will paint the tractor/truck and try to fill it with mini pumpkins & such & give it to Henry for a Thanksgiving decoration.

And OH !! Rod brought up our card table and put it on the sun porch so I can paint there when I take a notion but do not have to put away thigns all the time..plus it is very light out there,,YAY !!!

The grands decorated here a bit as well yesterday...I am not fond of the mess on the table though. It seems that GB found a permanent marker and colored so heavily with it that when the paper was lifted, I can see the same picture on my table. It's my fault though for not hiding those markers well enough. I'll have a Halloween reminder for awhile now lol

We had a heavy frost this morning but it sure looks pretty with the sun shining.

I lived on a hill, the only hill in town, in Waterbury, Ct. There was a huge ice storm that closed the whole state for three days. It was a horrible disaster without electricity for most, but my little hill was spared and I had heat. The view out my windows was glorious with the ice encrusted trees and everything. Like living above a valley full of diamonds. Now diamonds are about my least favorite precious stone because they are cold and don't please me. But that view was awesome.
Frost is pretty. Like fire is pretty until it's destroying something you care about.

Ah the ice storm..I remember that. We had 2. One at the farm...that was so pretty, just as you say... I have a photo of the house and the trees coated in ice..so ptetty. That is what made Rod decide that a fireplace would be a good thing to have. Then when living in town, with a fireplace, we too had 3 days w/o power. But the fireplace worked..it was gas but had no blower hooked up to it. We lived in the livingroom for those 3 days. As luck would have it we also has a gas stove so we could eat too.
Ah memoried...

Today a fire started up the canyon from me about eight miles away. They jumped on it quickly and kept it down to about ten acres and were able to call off the backup they had requested. Sweating here.

Always an evac plan. It's out. Actually, other than the stress involved, I like these small fires. They clear land that helps make a firebreak for the next fire that comes along.
Sweet dreams, Carol.

Glad to hear that you have an evac plan. I will l rest easier. I hope you never need one, but it makes me happy to know that you have one. For now, glad the fires are out.
Rest well, Tina.

Stay safe Tina, at the rate it is going....California is going to be more firebreak than residential, and that is sad.

Yes, California has lost 4 million acres to fires. That 4% of our state. It is a lot of fires. And I am truly saddened for a lot of people.

Tina, it must be close to impossible to get fire insurance there in some places?

I started my laminate flooring installation today. I am already frustrated on how it is a fight to get it to click together....probably my fault for buying the cheapest I could find. Mind you, DH's boss said they bought the vinyl laminate and wasted more than they put down. He said it kept breaking apart.

Thanks, it will have no choice but to work out although for the cheap price....I find it looks very nice indeed. It does look like an expensive oak wide board with nice knots here and there.

Rain here for today and the rest of the week, I wish it could find it's way to you Tina.

Sunny did you finish putting down your new floor?

I was born here, Sheri. As an adult with a baby, I was at loose ends and an opportunity came up to move and included housing already paid for. I took it. I wanted to see what 'seasons' were. I stayed a year or so then. Then came home and had baby #2. Went back after, married and stuck around a few years until that relationship failed. Came back permanently.
Winters are fine when you are young. I am not any more. I am home.

So glad you are at " home" Tina. I am glad that you are happy there.

I went out to the meat market today. Noone was there, so I stocked up. I will be good for awhile, thank goodness.

No Sheri, I am about 1/3 done...I smashed my finger causing me to take it slower than I'd like.

Tina, they say there is no place like home, I am glad you are back to where you want to be.

Junie, food ahead is a blessing.

It is cold and damp today, I need to put my woodstove back in place and put up the pipes....the temps are dropping daily.

I have never moved my woodstoves. My smaller, airtight one weighs 4oo pounds. I do not know the weight on the other, larger one. I have moved the pipes for cleaning and such.
You go, Sunny.

Good morning. The woodstoves in my house when we.were growing up were in place where they were. As were my Grandma's. Now our wood burner at the farm was very permanent. But it was out in a shed. The heat was piped into the house via underground pipes then thru the gas furnace ductwork. Have said it many times before. That was the best heat there ever was.
I
Take care Sunny.

Another warm day here.

Wow Junie. That burner at the farm is quite the set up. I'll bet it would warm up fast and feel so good. When we first moved into this house we had oil heat and it was wonderful.

I got paper towels today but the paper towel shelf was getting low. Still no Lysol but everything else is available.

I think we're supposed to get some rain from Delta.

Yes, I have been watching Delta's progress. It looks like you will. But hopefully in amounts you can handle.

Good morning. I slept well last night.. I'm getting ready to fill my ballot out and take it to a local box. I would love it if the political calls ended when the ballots leave the residence. But they will be coming in for another 3 1/2 weeks. Sigh...

I agree, Tina. Luckily for me, most of our political calls come on my cell phone.

I am sick to death of politics and politicians. Just now started to rain and for the first time since we've lived here, 20 years, my head got wet in our driveway. Even in high winds that big tree we just had taken down blocked the wind and rain from the driveway. I miss that tree.

The athletes at Darbi's school had to be test for covid. She came back negative but the email said "your result of 10/6/2002 is negative but may be in error." What the heck does that mean? Another person received a letter from the local testing site saying his results were negative but he hasn't been tested. A person my hair dresser knows received a letter saying their insurance denied their covid testing claim but she hadn't been tested. What in the world?

Is today Thanksgiving for Sunny?

Monday is Thanksgiving here Bestofour but we are going back a step due to a Covid outbreak...there'll be no gathering for anyone sadly.

We lost power yesterday, got it back last night....then had no phone or internet for over 24 hrs.

So sorry you lost power, Sunny. Glad it is back on!

Sheri, oh my goodness. I love my trees. So sorry you had to take yours down..

We are forecast to get rain tomorrow. 1 - 3 inches. I need some dry time to take the kids their pumpkin that I painted for them. Can't do that in the rain. Wish me luck.

Here is a picture. Sorry it is not a very good photo. The light in the kitchen made it look a bit off colored. And I was hoping to show you all the gold thread on the horn that defines the different colors and the shading on the pumpkin..and oh! The ears are painted with a go!den ivory pearl, and I put some pink chalk inside the ears.

Thanks for asking. I had fun doing it.

Your pumpkin is beautiful, the multi colored horn really sets it off.

It is really cooling down here quick, those heavy winds we got really took out all the pretty colored leaves too fast.

As of today, I will be finished with my flooring(minus the quarter round trim because I still haven't bought it yet)...I cut my index finger and had to stop, of course it is on the opposite hand of the one I smashed. help

Thanks, Sunny. I hope the girls like it.

Glad you wil be finished with the flooring soon. I am sure it will be beautiful. Please be careful.

Sorry it is cooling off quickly for you, Sunny. Is a warm patch ( Indian Summer) too much to hope for ?

It is supposed to be in the mid 70's here this werk, then I guess it will begin to get cooler.
You would think that I would have a better handle on the weather here by now...but nope.

Junie that is so cute. I used to have cute stuff that you sent me but a cleaning person broke it. Or maybe it was the child she brought with her one day. Who knows but I miss it.

Johnny had to be tested for Covid today for a colonoscopy on Wednesday. This is his second testing. Both times he says they ran a swap around the inside of his nose not into his nose like some of the stories I've heard.

I had my hair cut yesterday for the first time in a long time and it's a mess. The right side is longer than the left and the sides are shorter than the back. Awful.

Think I'll go to sleep a little early tonight since I've been wanting to sleep all day and just haven't done it.

Sweet dreams, Sheri. The good thing about hair is that it grows (most of the time).

Yes Sheri ! The good thing about hair is that it always grows back...when we were kids, my cousin' s boy friend told her that when she not only got her hair chopped, she had it died some awful color as well. .Tina saying what she did made me remember him saying that and I laughed.

If it helps, when I got my hair cut back in May, I had my lady cut it shorter, so I would not have to go back too soon..well it is chopped..I cannot make it look good no matter what I do. That will be the last time I tell any beautician to change what they have done. If I had of kept my mouth shut, it would have been perfect, and most of the time I could have just washed my hair and it would have dried perfect. Oh well, you live, you learn.

I sent you a gnome, correct ?? Which one was it. If I ever get back to my ceramics shop, perhaps I could replace it.

So sorry Johnny is having to be tested so often. I sure hope he does not come up as positive.

G'nite all .......sweet dreams.

I gave up on going to the hair stylists a long time ago Sheri....cutting my own seems to be working out so far.

We had thunderstorms last night, the lightning lit up the sky....it was cold all day so I have no idea where the storm came from.

My Christmas baking comes later Tina, I have to wait until my pork and beef is processed to see how much room I have left in the freezer.

My mother dropped off some of her turkey so I only had to make all the fixings. (she never quarantines so I refused to go over), we'll have hot turkey sandwiches today with the leftovers.

Junie, what is a jimmie?

Sprinkles, chocolate shots, those things decorative on doughnuts, etc.
Good morning. Hot turkey sandwiches are what I live for.

Yes, what Tina said..these look like very small teeny tiny hot dogs..they are also called sprinkles or decorations..but not sugar..tiny decorative candies to put on cakes, cupcakes.& Cookies. ..looked again this morning for the orange colored sugar..when I had to go to the local.store to finish my grocery shopping for the kids visit....of course the Christmas sugars are out now....I very mich dislike having to prepare for Ho!idays months in advance

Good morning

Oh, I know what they are now. We get them here but they are in tiny, multicolored balls.

We've just been notified that Halloween is cancelled...after telling us last week it was not.

If the Christmas stuff is out now, get it. Most will be hard to find around Christmas. It has been that way since I have been an adult. Planning around what you have beats wishing you had something.

Sitting in the Drs. Office...no tables, no magazines, and only 7 chairs as they are all 6 feet apart. If it were not in for a random corner..there would be 6 chairs.

I wish we could get this virus under control.

That would be lovely, Carol. I'm thinking in the middle or end of 2021. And even then, many will be gun -shy.

You are probably right, Tina. Many now do not get the flu shots or vaccinate their kids..so I assume this will be no diffferent. ANd.just as long.as the rest of us can get by healthy, I guess it will be their choice..all ready for the kids to get here.....waiting to start supper.

I am sure they all need a break and a rest. We are happy to help out.

I will say goodnight in case I do not get back in. Sweet Dreams.

Junie, in that doctors office were the chairs cleaned when a person got up before another person sat down?

Our 20 day forecast has us with very warm weather. The red ants are loving it.

We're going to Ginger's for Thanksgiving. I don't know what Shelley is doing and I have no idea what we're doing for Christmas. For what it's worth Darbi has tested negative once and Johnny twice but that doesn't mean they didn't get the virus when they walked out of the testing site. Who knows. I'm to the point where I don't think masks and social distancing make a difference. I think the people who get it and get deathly ill have a common denominator that hasn't been found yet and they are so susceptible to it that if they breath outside they're going to catch it. I know I've mentioned before that we have a few people in our church who were the first to wear masks even while walking outside and several of them have had the virus.

I went to the eye doc yesterday and what's happened to HIPPA. I had to stand in the blue circle 6 feet away from the plexiglass that is on the desk and scream out my name, birthdate, address, and phone number, so the masked girl behind the plexiglass could hear me. Now everyone else waiting knows my info and I know theirs.

Sheri, it is the same here...there is no privacy at all.

I was impressed at the dentist yesterday though, only one person allowed in at a time....you are taken to the office then to your room. There are two dentists and they have everything separated. Everyone must wait in their vehicle until the secretary comes out to get you. We have 34 active cases in our area(that is in an hour of drive distance).

I picked up quite a few curbside pick ups yesterday on the same trip so I will be busy finishing up some things around here.

Tina, I had to buy quarter rounds for the new flooring I put in, today I painted them to match the baseboards....tomorrow I will start cutting/ installing them. I also have to make a hatch to be able to go down into the crawl space under the house, I plan to make it in my bedroom closet. Then I have to make a new door for the crawl space outside as well, the old one is falling apart.

Sunny is your garden finished? I brought in radishes and black eyed peas tonight. We've still got a lot of warm days coming up. Everything is very damp though.

I've been cutting back some shrubs that shouldn't bloom again until spring and they are all budded out. I'm cutting them back anyway though because they're gigantic and I feel like I live in a jungle. It will be interesting to see what happens in the spring. May not have any flowers.

Good morning. It was very frustrating to be mute yesterday. The keys all had functions but it wasn't typing. So I was basically mute.
But it was better than not having a computer at all. I could read and keep up with you all. I still have to fix some things today but I'm here.
