Bears and lions we do have. But no tigers, Carol. Sweet dreams. I'll be dreaming of adorable bobtail kittens tonight. It was lovely to see them.

I have not seen a wild cat since I was a little girl..we have lynx here but they are a once in a life sighting if you are lucky. There hasn't been a bob cat sighting here in over 70 years I think. DH did see a momma bear and her three cubs yesterday though.

I am waiting for a call for my grocery pick up.

I don't think there's a tract of land in the US that hasn't seen a coyote in the last few years. I saw one in Connecticut when I lived there. Even NY city gets the occasional one. San Francisco got visitors on camera during the lock down.
All wildlife loved it when people stayed home and weren't driving around. It made for wonderful captures on security cams.

When we lived out on the farm in Illinois, yes, we saw all kids of wildlife..big and small. Even a fox once.
In town (we were up against a field) we might see a coyote once in a great while. Here nope, not even maybe. (we are on the older end of a very large nicer subdivision) We are hard pressed to see the occasional squirrel.
Now, 5-ish miles over my DD sees all kinds of wildlife..even large cats occasionally.

I am preserving the last of the cukes today, so far I have made bread and butter, sweet slice and cucumber lunch. Today will be dill pickles and dill relish.

Good morning !..no coffee here.

Yes, it does sound like a good year for cucumbers. It must feel good to be able to make so many different kinds. So did you get many beans this year ?

Yup, we had a good run of beans....I only bottled up a few though, we ate them fresh.

The next preserving job will be pickled beets.

Tina: You can open a can of beets and quick pickle them. You keep them in the fridge.

I got rid of the great recipe I had when we moved this last time. Not on purpose mind you...but it is gone. I have several others if you are interested, Tina.
I love pickled beets, but my DH does not care for beets in any form. Do I found this refrigerator recipe.

Ah..Sunny, now I remember you saying you were all eating them....oh well, enjoying them fresh is better, I am sure.

I grew up with quick pickled canned beets, Carol. I discovered more flavorful recipes as an adult. And I would still use canned beets because I can no longer peel them .

Oh ok..I am still looking for the recipe that uses the liquid from the canned beets. Whole cloves and cinnamom.. It was as close.to my mom' s canned beets that I could ever get to.

If I could remember which cookbook I found it in, I would buy a new one.

Beets are a fall crop here. I'm going to plant some next week if it cools down a little bit. Cucumbers did great here too.

Strangely, My dad never put in a fall garden. And I have never planted beets either.
I will look online, Tina, thanks.

Good luck with yours Sheri.

Tina. The girls are in Preschool but Henry is in first grade this year. Nora and Henry both had colds.
They stayed home with their Daddy who is working from home most days in the week. BUT Henry had to have a Covid test before his school would allow him back in school. Of course his test was negative.

where Nora can just go back when Mom deems she is well enough.

Rod & I asked Henry what he learned at school back on the one day we picked him up from school. He told me he learned about vowels...
So I rattle off the vowels, and he says " an T". I said no.& He says stop you are confusing me...So his.mom, the teacher, tried to tell him...they finally settled on him going back to school and finding out and then reporting back to her.

It seems "He did not hear or see the teacher properly" teach LOL

Heidi' s favorite part of school is.learning,
Cora' s favorite is lunch.and.
Nora' s favorite part.is recess.LOL but they all 3 love school.

Nora and Cora on the first morning exchanged glasses to try to get to sit at each other's desks, but Heidi ratted them out. And then Nora told the teacher her name was Heidi so she could sit next to Cora......Teacher was not fooled.
Now we all knew they would try that...eventually...but before 10 o' clock their first day ??? LOL

Also, since mom is a teacher at the same school, she has been filling in their teacher all along..so she was prepared for them. They all 3 slept hard at rest time.

Going to bed now. Sleep Well my friends.

Sweet dreams, Carol. That is the sort of things I wanted to hear. Thank you.
And could Henry have thought it was "and Y"? I learned them as a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y.

lol The identical triplets at GG's first school tried fooling the teachers as well, at last their mom painted their nails in 'their' colors to keep them in line.

Today I will be restaining the North and East sides of the sheds(our Winters takes a toll on those sides) while DH combines up the last of the oats. I don't think there will be one day of rest this month.

Good morning..coffee is brewing.

Tina, no about Henry..When I ran thru the vowels, I said just that.a e i o u and sometimes Y. And he said..and " t"....he only half pays attention a lot because he thinks he knows better than the teacher most of the time. His mom has been on him though so that is good.

We all knew they would try the twin thing..it is just that we were surprised it happened so fast.

Hello all,

Came on to pay some bills and change how insurance gets paid and website won't let me in... pain in the ****.. hopefully it will work soon.. or they will have to paper bill me...

Love how the girls tried to fool the teacher.... good for Mom for letting them know in advance...

We are back to the 100* days for a while... summer is hanging on... sure hard on my water bill when we have to water every day, but yard looks good ... at least it cools off in evening so can sit outside on my swing ... makes for easy dinners to, we grill a lot on patio... want to get a bigger table for out there to eat at when it's nice too, we are getting together with neighbor for Labor Day... late afternoon so hopefully we can eat outside... hubby wants me to make potato salad of course so told him he had to buy more potatoes before Sun... he has a drug store run to do today .... so hoping he remembers his list... our drug store pharmacy actually closes for half an hour for lunch... !

Well better go get something out for dinner tonit.... and eat some lunch... have a good rest of the day all.

Nana
