Ah grocery shopping...that is just the beginning of the day.
But then, at least there is food and such in the house.

My SIL just brought me a nice sized bag of sweet corn.
I have already put up 5 bags in the freezer. We will also have some for our supper tonight. Color me thankful and happy.

Sunny. We are not so happy with the weather here in Southern Missouri either. It is much hotter here than we are used to as well. Here the sun is much harsher. We are that much closer to the equator, I guess.

Good morning.
Another hot one, over 100 degrees. I've been wearing a wet t-shirt for awhile. They are heavenly when it's hot because of the cooling affect of evaporation. I ask Teddy for a hug and he begins to then backs off in a hurry to avoid getting wet. For the last couple of days he has allowed me to take his shirt off for wetting down too. You know it's hot when he will wear a wet shirt.

Good morning.
Ladies I am so sorry for the heat...mind you it is not cool here by any stretch of the imagination...but if I stay inside, all is well. I will have to go out and pick berries and water tonight if it does not rain.

Oh! I so wish I had a clothes line ! I surely miss having one. I used to put my blouses & shirts on hangers then hook the hanger on the clothes line, then use a clothes pin to affix the hanger to the clothes line. I had no mis-shappen shirts that way. BUT the fresh smell of my clothes was heavenly!!

I guess we have been busy.

Today I am going to tackle all my windows again....the pollen is so heavy that it is stuck to the screens. I have never seen windows get so dirty in just over a month. It took me over 4 hrs to clean them all just 6 weeks ago.

I know Tina. It was on the news here. They are getting a bit more serious here as well.
Bad news is that a person in a county close to us has gotten the covid virus for a second time. I would like to think that that alone would make believers out of the sceptics.

Well, a few counties dropped the mandatory mask orders early. My county wwas one of them. We had few cases and low death rates when they dropped masks of only 98 deaths out of about 2 thousand cases. That was on May 8. I have watched it climb to a current 307 out of 19,402 cases. And I believe the death counts are under counted everywhere.
Covid causes more than just lung problems. It also causes blood clots so when people die of heart attacks or strokes it is written that way instead of the main cause being covid 19. Even people who recover don't recover immediately from the damage it does to the immune system or kidney problems, nerve damage. We don't know everything it can do to us. It is one scary disease.

The news also stated that a baby in Texas was born with Covid.....passed from the pregnant mom. How scary.

I think we will be dealing with this for a long time to come...even with a vaccine.

Anyone have any advice for me? It seems that I have caught a skunk in my trap this morning, thankfully it was set at the far end of my property.....but it is still on my property. nervous

Leave the skunk where it is until Cary gets home with his truck. cover the trap with a cloth of some sort, put in the truck bed and drive it further into the boonies. Put the covered trap on the ground. We released the wire holding the trap door shut with a string from the bed of the truck. Only one time did we have to show the critter how to get out.

I called the DNR ranger office, they told me to cover the trap as well Tina. I covered it(walking like a child being a ghost for Halloween), waited 30 minutes then slowly opened the door with a bungee cord. It gave a quick scent/pee and I then ran for all I could run. lol I'm not sure if it is still in the trap or not. I'll take a drive by it later on the ATV in case it is still there....it was a young skunk.

The Exterminator wanted $160 to come and release it. I can buy a lot of tomato juice to cover myself for that haha

Were you able to prop the trap open, Sunny? If it is open, the skunk is gone.

The trap is open but I can't see because the heavy blanket has it very dark inside. He'll leave tonight if he is still there...I am hoping.

The rangers office said to use a mixture of peroxide, baking soda and liquid soap. I wouldn't want to put peroxide on hair????? I might use that mixture to clean the cage though.

Well glad I never had to do that for a skunking problem...crossing fingers, I have a feeling my silly dog would go after one if he saw it... he would think it's a cat and he detests cats... people next door have a cat and they let it roam , it tried to come over fence our yard and Milo practically climbed block fence to chase it... they keep it inside now.... don't know why people let them out anyway... to many predators here... we get coyotes wandering down the streets.... not to mention bobcats and other creatures... hubby always takes a big walking stick when he walks him .. We are over 100 today, hubby has gotten up early to do the morning walks.. like at 530. and then evening ones after 8 and it's still pretty warm then... supposed to cool down some later this week..wish it would rain... supposed to be the rainy season but not much of that here...

Well better go start the leftovers dinner warming up... maybe someday will learn how to cook for two... but at least only have to make meals a couple times a week.. glad hubby will eat leftovers, my bil won't eat leftovers , they waste more food... she can't even freeze it and save for later ... he won't eat it... she spoiled him rotten, I am sure as a family of 4 boys and a single mother he ate leftovers.... or didn't eat...

Well have a good evening all . sure glad we have ac and it works... stay well all!
Nana

The skunk is still in the cage and it is 10:00 pm here.

Nana, leftovers are filling to any person....especially if they know what it is like to go hungry.

That is probably why your BIL will not eat leftovers..he had to do it as a chi!d.
My dad was like that about leftovers. Mom would either make whatever was leftover into another type of dish, or put it into the fridge without a cover so it would dry out, then she would discard it.

I serve leftovers if we have them...i should learn how to turn my leftovers into different dishes...I miss some of those that momma would make.

Sunny, what were you trying to catch in the trap? Thankfully I've never seen a skunk around here. We do have coyotes and bobcats. Maybe they keep the skunks scared away.

Sheri, I was trying to catch raccoons. I caught a few plus a few of the neighbors cats and then the skunk.

The skunk was gone this morning so all is well....I will set the trap on a wooden bench this time, hopefully the skunks won't climb. If they do, it will be DH's turn next for the catch and release lol

I just cut back the lupines and bleeding hearts....the spring flowers are done blooming.

Yes Tina, I guess if we all took our temps, put them in a barrel, mixed them up and divided for us all, we would all have much more pleasant weather.

Sweet Dreams..sleep well my friends. Plenty of stormy sounds going on here.....
