Oh right Tina. I remember that now. We've had several family birthdays during this stay at home time. I was fine staying home for mine. Colt not so much. smile

We thought our upstairs AC unit was broken because yesterday it was 80° up here. The man came out today and said it's working fine, not sure what happened yesterday, give me $51.00 please and left. Not sure what he did but it does feel cooler in here or either I'm used to the heat.

I had an ac unit in a window that would freeze inside. When it had time to defrost it worked fine, Shert. Maybe the humidity made yours freeze?

Appliances are finicky...I hope the AC was just froze up as Tina said.

I got the quotes for the eaves trough's yesterday. We can only afford to get one side of the house done this year....the front is better than none. We'll do the back side next year...hopefully. The guy was real nice about it, he said he understood that doing things the way one can afford it is better than not doing anything at all. He said he would prepare a work order for the back with the estimates and put it in his file. When we are ready next year, we can just call.

It's a raining here....a good day to catch up on baking.

I agree with the workman, Sunny. Glad he was so nice.

Sheri...at least you did not have to replace the unit. Plus if something changes you have a starting point, right ?

I am sitting on the parking lot at the eye Drs. Waiting to be allowed to go in.

Our eye docs are closed. My GB was awaiting an appt and surgery next month.....it will be put on hold for up to a year now.

One of my kitchen chairs broke today...I am soon going to give up on fixing stuff.

The sun is shining and the mosquitoes are swarming lol

Today I have to take the window out of the old door(that we just replaced) and clean up the old glue and silicone so I can put that window into the other door. The other door is still in good shape but the window has a broken seal and is starting to rust the edge. This 'trying to make do' gets old after awhile.

We have to set up an appointment to go into our bank. Then there is a man at the door monitoring the comings and goings. We can use the drive up at will though, and of course the ATM.

I am trying too.
I usually take a shower and wash all clothes when I am home after I have been out. Shoes and such stay on the floor for 24 to 72 hours as well. The purse I am using can be thrown into the wash for sanitation purposes. I am going to begin to carry a mask in my purse and the car, as I forgot my mask last week when I had Drs. Appt. Luckily Rod had his along, and he did not go into the office.

I just want to go shopping...I would even settle to go grocery shopping......... boohoo
Perhaps some day......

I'm going to start ordering Christmas gifts soon. Because I think the lock down and the following economic things will at least cause a mini depression, if not a full-on one. My kids will enjoy a few bangles, sparkles and fun by then. My girls will enjoy some warm socks and snuggly pajama bottoms and such. Teddy too.

What is happening now is still the first wave of this covid stuff. Just a new peak. I think it will nearly go away then return as travel picks back up and people get complacent. That's what happened during the Spanish flu during 1918-19.

I'm so glad we're all on board with the trying times ahead. Add things to your lists that make you happy! Be it favored foods or little things that won't break a budget. Projects to do for yourself and for others. Things you've always wanted to try. Something to look forward to on bleak days. Then remember the kids in your life needing the same things when you're purchasing gifts. They need things to do and help them grow in spite of what's happening on the other side of the door.

Yes, there will be plenty of craft kits bought for the long days ahead. My grands like 'old school' things so they are easy to buy for....balls, bubbles and such.

Yes,I agree..craft kits are a good idea. I bought them a sprinkler system by that one runs thru for the summery, but coming from china, it broke do their found one made in the US that is made better. We are all trying. But thanks for the ideas of craft kits..Carol is going to make sure she has acrylic paints on hand as well as. As well as a Sewing machine.

It is also nice to have my friends here to talk this all over with.

Fun fabrics, washable markers, shoe boxes, other small containers sidewalk chalk. I raised my older children without television for the most part. We were always looking for something to engage. And cheaply, very cheaply. My kids got for Christmas every year, crayons, a rainbow of markers, colored pencils, and personalized pencils. But I began collecting these at the earliest possible time.

My hair person makes jewelry and ordered some type of snips before things were shut down and still hasn't received them. They were ordered from Russia.

Shelley, Aubry, and I went to the Farmers Market in a little town about 20 minutes from me. It's where Johnny's children grew up and went to school. I ran into a girl, guess I should say woman, who went to high school with me and we had a nice chat. The humidity was low and the day was lovely.

Tina, no I do not know when she goes back to school some time on August I am guessing.
And of course, the girls are going with her to pre-school.
Thing is the kids may go to school on alternating days. We will see what actually happens.

Glad that you had a good time out, Sheri. That makes me happy.

Yup, I put my can in the horse trailer...there is no way for them to get in there but now I am worried about my chickens. This is the first time that I have had trouble with my garbage cans....that tells me that there are too many in the area.

A fox is killing my sisters chickens. He's been brave, coming into the yard when they are outside.

I put the chicks in the shed at night since they are in a little dog cage but the hens have to stay out in their coop. I am calling the DNR office today to see if they can set up a trap. I don't want my new baby calf to be on his dinner plate either.

I have to go to the bank today...I have to take GG with me so there will be no stopping anywhere else.

Morning ( for a few minutes still here anyway)

Hubby is out buying wood to keep him busy, has to have a project going … I just did middle of month bills stuff... may get busy and sew rest of office curtains today … been off my feet the last week or so hip decided to act up and hurt to walk... took as much Tylenol as I could but it just had to wait it out... I did finally get enough relief to Milos regret to give him a bath... he was mad at me for a while but got over it... he hates water.. won't even go out on grass if we just watered...

It's bad again here, people just don't get it.. no cure and contagious... more people sick and dying in the state.. so much for getting to travel anytime soon... going to miss my boys coming down or us going up... I think I have read more books lately than I have in the last yr.. watched more movies too.. rearranged closets and drawers.. not that they really needed it but it gave me something to keep busy … wish I could paint, inside of house needs all the rooms redone... hubby will do it , he just hates to paint.. heights bother him and we have 15 foot ceilings in part of house...

Well off to get started with kitchen and bath floors , need sweeping and mopping.. hoping my hip will let me finish it..

Have a good day and stay healthy all,

Nana

I

It's 37*F out there this morning....the good old frost is out and about. There'll be plenty more gardens hit from people who planted for the first time.....with no more veggie plants to be found.

I made it to the bank and did a transfer to DD so she could make an order for GB's birthday. July 9th will be here quick...he'll be 5 already.

I hate driving so far and not be able to shop. cry

I am still waiting on a call back about the bear situation.

Oh my 37 ! That my dear is cold. Your last frost date is not too far off, is it. Although I must say that we had late frost about 2 weeks later than they say is usual. I think from now on, I will go by the first date back home.

Yes about birthday gifts. I need to remember that for my brands on the east coast. Thanks for the reminder, Sunny.

We are going home for a dentist appt. Tuesday and I do not get to go to ceramics..boohoo..and I too would like to do some shopping while home. I will not get to either, so you are not alone.

I hope they call you soon about the bear.

Sheri, we changed weather...our heat wave starts today. They have been giving warnings all morning on our news.

I need to get caught up on laundry today....it multiplies in the hamper lol

Tina, I hope you get more than the one night's good sleep.

Good morning

Wow ! My laundry multiplies in the hamper as well. I wish it would multiply to nicer newer stuff, ya know. I would not mind washing new clothes for us.

Drinking coffee now...and the dishwasher is running. Today will be laundry, ordering some cards and taking down the 2 pack n plays in the kids room.

The only nicer stuff here belongs to GG. lol

I put the front step back in place and leveled it out...thankfully it is small so it was easy to do. Now to get them scraped and sanded for their annual painting...if I ever build new steps, I am going to use waste oil on them...no one sits on them anyway.

Sunny what kind of heat wave is coming that needs a warning? Our high was 66 today. I like this weather but it's not here for long.

Speaking of laundry, Johnny cleaned out his van Monday and brought in 21 shirts.

21 shirts. WOW I think I would have given him the address of the local laundry, Sheri.

Was in the 80's tiday, with a bit of a cool breeze. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same then Friday is supposed to be on the 90's...I guess our "summef" has finally arrived.

I will say goodnight. Sweet Dreams.

100*F for three days in a row.

I woke up with a headache, it doesn't happen often but when it does....it's a keeper for the whole day.

I'm not sure what the headache is from...but it could be the heat. It is 104*F at the moment. Just a few days ago we woke up to frost...what an extreme temperature change.

Our governor just made masks mandatory in public places. I'm so glad. Many stores still required them but our county did not as of May 8. Our Covid went up 300% and death rate 125% since then. Other counties climbed as well. I am happy that they have made it mandatory in my state again.

Tina, that is good to hear......it is impossible to social distance in most stores.

It is a hotter day for today...I don't know how the day will fair out for the local graduating class. They are having an outdoor ceremony so that social distancing can be done. They'll all have heat stroke instead of Covid by the end of the day.

It is 'report card pick up day' today as well....we will celebrate by going for ice cream at the shop that just opened this week. They are set up that you order and pick up through a window. It is only a 5 minute drive from the school. GG is excited to go since she thought she would not be able to this year.

Good morning.

Tina, I hope you keep your good sleeping trend up.

Sunny. I know about the graduations. But I remember how hiring was in the gym when I graduated. Some of the girls took off their dresses and put their gowns on over their slips. It was much cooler for them that way. I hope there is no problems for your graduates.

Yay for ice cream ! ... And report cards....

I just got a call, my new glasses are in...I hate to drive on the interstate on Friday..oh well.

We got the report card but the ice cream shop was closed...it only opens from 2pm-10pm because the family themselves are working it because of the pandemic. I'll take her another day.

We did pick up the cake we ordered for "Grampy's Day" at the local grocery store. It's too bad that it is not the Dairy Queen cake we usually buy him...the zone where that is, has closed due to a Covid outbreak. Oh well, at least he will get something thumbup

Oh no, so sorry that the " ice cream shop " was closed. But hey, at least now you know what the hours are.

Yay for Grampy Day cake! So see, GG..will still get a treat..even if she does have to wait a few days......and share with her brother.

I've had good results using baking soda in water for that, Sunny. About 1 1/2 tablespoons per gallon on water every couple of weeks. Or after a rain. It helps with powdery mildew also.

Tina, I use the same recipe except I add a spoonful of vegetable oil as well....I have to wait until tomorrow though, it is too hot to put anything on them tonight.

The heat has everything setting blooms though....I'll take pics this week.

Yes, there's lots of recipes out there. Some include neem oil but not for use around bees and other such pollinators.

Tina, I plan to put the longest day of the year to good use....my husband has the day off and there is lots that he can help with haha

I am going to visit GB this afternoon, at least with this nice weather we can sit outside while distancing....he is waiting for his 'bag of treats.' grin

Ah longest day of the year..so that means I will have more daylight this evening to put down my mulch ! Yay !!!

I am getting really tired of this tablet. Besides my auto correct changing words "after" I hit send, and as it is posted. Now apparently I need to hit send much harder than I thought. I came in last night 🌙 and said goidnight, really I did.

So, goodnight and good morning to you all.

Glad you had a good day, Sunny. I did a lot inside, but the weather made me stop working outside.

Folding towels now.

Good night Tina.

My cinnamon bread just came out of the oven. After it sits for 20 minutes, I can take it out of the pans and then go to sleep.

Nite-nite everyone.

Send some over Junie......it was too hot to make my bread here.

Today I have to sort through some wood scraps and such at the barn. I think GG's chicks are pullets, so that means a little coop must be built....the older hens tried to attack them when I put them in the one coop we already have. nervous

Happy Father's Day Gremelin!

Yes Junie, there is plenty of scraps. He got 10 pallets at the farm sale...at $1 a piece I wish there would have been more.

I'll open a new Coffeehouse for us.
