My husband ask me to ask everyone even though I researched this almost 2 years ago when we bought this house...but.....

Do any of you have a water softener on the water in their house...and what do you think of using it to water plants..and so you know...usually houses that use softeners have 1 spigot that runs fresh water..this house doesn't..you have to go down to the softener unit and bypass the softener. Then you have to run water for a bit to get rid of the softener water...anyway..what are your opinions.

That is a no-no. The levels of salt in your softened water will definitely kill your plants. In fact, it will even stay in the ground/soil and kill any future plants that you put in the same area.

Sorry, but you will need to bypass your system or collect rain water.
