Good morning!

We were supposed to have 2 storms last night...there were thunderstorm warnings and Tornado watches out..and the report of 2 inch hail coming with them. Luckily both missed us. We just had rain and thunder off in the distance. We got lucky this time. Now After my coffee, I need to go out and remove all the buckets that I put over my hostas and potato plants.

There all better now ! LOL

Good morning. , I was amused/dismayed by my "physical" typo last night in my answer to you, Carol. But then I got to your truckers protecting your plants last night and that got me giggling. I'm wondering how much that cost you?

Good old spell check....it checks itself with spelling things wrong.

How is Teddy fairing out Tina? He must miss his outings.

All the truckers are busy restocking our store shelves, Carol. They are worth their weight in gold, imo. My almost 76 year old brother went back to work part time to relieve the dispatchers at his trucking job.
Keep warm and safe in your weather, Sunny. Teddy is doing fairly well with the isolation, so far. He can still go out just not visiting or much of anything. He's healthy and doesn't see anybody so should stay that way. Unless a stray cootie comes in on grocery items

Hello again.

Junie we sent in a copy of our car registration bill, had to be something that had both our names on it... got a email saying they got it but not that it was acceptable yet... maybe by Monday.... just don't want to lose insurance coverage right now...

Spent some time outdoors in backyard today.. all the roses hubby planted for me are blooming and so are the oleanders and vines I can't remember the name of...LOL!

I am glad Teddy is doing ok too, my bil with autism is doing ok.. he keeps asking to go shopping but when told the government says no he says ok , maybe later... he is pretty high functioning but likes to go get out of area newspapers and other stuff he likes to get himself but he gets it , he just has to be reminded daily... probably doing better at this isolating than the rest of us..

Well dryer just stopped , I dug into my remnants collection and am going to make a few masks for hubby and I … just incase we have to go out... and maybe to give to sister and brother in law.. she I hope is staying home now ..she is diabetic , and 74.., he is 71 and fairly healthy., he still has his cronies over every day to his barn where they talk and drink beer so we made the choice of not visiting them … hard but I can't afford to get sick and hubby doesn't want to carry it to me.. he doesn't believe it's as bad as it is and wouldn't let her buy extra groceries so they may not have enough.. but he still comes into town every few days... so pray they don't get it but as they say you can't convince a mule to do what it doesn't want to do...

Well off to start on a couple masks for us... see how much sewing I remember how to do...LOL!
Nana

Thanks for the information, Nana. roses sound pretty. I am sure it helps to get outside and see pretty things when one is self isolating.

Glad you and yours are doing well, also.

Coffee is good this morning, I am on my second cup. I already went to do the barn work and showered...which I will repeat again at Supper time. This snow storm is a bad one, we are getting over a foot of snow with damaging winds...and storm surges along the coast. It looks like January outside.

I have to dig out some remnants and such for making masks later today...my mother keeps calling for me to make some. Just wait until she sees the red, plaid pattern with little brown reindeers on them lol It is the only 100% cotton that I have.

Have fun outside for me.

We are having the last two pieces of salmon today for supper(I had cut up a fresh salmon in fillets and froze it this Fall), we don't eat meat on Good Friday....my grandmother's rule that we will follow forever.

WE are allowed to eat meat on Friday...
Carol is making bacon, and I have no idea what with it...Rod sorta tried to have me make pancakes for breakfast, and since it did not happen, I thawed out the bacon for him for tonight. I am currently trying to make myself make him his chocolate chip pancakes to go with the bacon...but I do not want them...oh well too bad for me I guess.

I went back to bed early. I gave Teddy breakfast and my computer and laid down for a couple of hours. And zonked until 4. I am seriously messed up now. Sigh.

My mother is having trouble with that also Tina, she over-naps in the day and is up half the night....causing her to nod off several times in the day again.

GB called last night, he said, "I'm bringing 'were's Kitty' to the SPCA tomorrow 'cause it took my bacon"...it was too funny, DD said he sat on the floor with his plate of bacon on one knee and the kitten on the other....of course the kitten took a piece and ran off. She said it happened hours before but he was still upset...when it comes to food, he is like Joey from the Friend's show. haha

I have been staying up until midnight, then waking up between 8 and 9. I will have a hard time getting back to my usual schedule...but, for now, this works.

Poor kitty..and poor GB. I would be upset if an animal took my having it then, I can also see the kitty wanting the bacon...Bacon is yummy after all.

After my coffee, we are planning to deliver Easter gifts....

Good morning.
Happy pets day. There are bunches of happy dogs that have their favorites with them all day now. Only some disgruntled cats having to share their favorite napping sofas. But some get to steal bacon!

Yay for stolen bacon..well if you are the cat and not the " original bacon owner".

We did deliver the gifts to the kids today. Poor Henry, he is having a hard time understanding how while tomorrow is Easter it is NOT his birthday 🎂
The day he was born happened to be Easter that year.

Poor Henry...tell him, when it happens this way he gets two celebrations.

The Easter bunny has passed and GG is on high...strange thing is that she probably won't eat more than a mouthful or two. She's not a big chocolate fan...thankfully, cookie and cream chocolate can be found now.

I am waiting for GB to call.

Good Morning and Happy Easter !
Virtual Church is at 10:30.

I am sure if my Grands are up, the Easter Bunny has been to their house as well. I intend to call them soon.

Today at 3:30 my nephew has set up a Zoom call so Momma can visit with her whole family...That should be fun !

Happy Easter. Most of the world that celebrates Easter, is doing it differently this year. It is a better way to show love by distancing yourselves for the good of all.

Happy Easter all,

I have been working on masks for hubby to wear when he goes out... worked out pretty well, didn't realize how much fabric I had in my pile... probably good that I hoard that stuff at the moment... we thawed a turkey for our Easter dinner , forgot to take it out of outside fridge last night so it has to we water bathed for about half an hour to finish... mostly cooking it to make room in freezer for regular food needs , will make quite a few meals for us... will make a few trays of enchiladas and sandwich meat out of it after we eat it as a roast turkey.. will give some to lady next door too... may even make broth from bones... used to go that and I have a lot of empty jars to freeze it in... well timer went off have to go change water on turkey... have a wonderful if isolated Thanksgiving all..

Nana

I have a five pound canned ham to make into meals today. It will be divided and frozen for meals. And shared with a neighbor in need.

This morning I had a Skype meeting with my DD and her family on the East coast. Then"MY" family had a Zoom meeting this afternoon. It was grand.

Now I have pork steak in the oven, potatoes for chive-buttered potatoes cooking. There will be deviled eggs, and biscuits as well..and dessert..oh yes, we would not want to forget about that.

Happy Easter everyone !

Yes, I agree. I do not know what I would do if I did not have you guys to lean on and be with thru this. You are exactly right Tina. And I tell my family all the time that it is thanks to you that I am so well prepared for this mess.

I was referring to how we in my family would have spent the day with each other if we were not under this quarantine/and virus. So, my Nephew found a different way for us to be together. Hence my comment.

Amen kissie

My mother had to pick up her taxes that I just done for her, so I told her to come at 5pm...she got her taxes and a turkey supper through the dining room window. Whoever thought I'd be serving 'take-out'. lol

It is a rainy day today...the snow will melt some more.

I think we are all some form of drive thru right now... I made a big plate of leftovers for our next door neighbor lady, I will leave it on the porch for her and call her to tell her it's there, she still goes out a lot and has her grandkids over with their mother so I won't make contact with her... but I know she and her daughter don't cook much so will do this for her,, made a turkey and the fixens yesterday... bout wore me out but it got done... now I have to make up some enchiladas for the freezer and slices for sandwiches.. few plates of tv dinners too. seal it all for when we don't want to cook... or heaven forbid one of us is ill.. will make some soup too... and bone broth... hubby cleaned kitchen last night and I only had to do a few things over.. so that was a good thing....LOL!
Hubby is out walking Milo , it's really windy here and may rain later.. good day for staying in so will work on a few more masks and maybe even vacuum and dust...

Have a good day all and stay well... prayers..

Wow! Takeout meals ! You are both good ladies. If I lived closer I would request a take out meal as well.

I think it is time to begin " strange meals" here. We will have bratwurst tonight with left over stroganoff and salad as sides. I think it is better to have strange meals than to have wasted food.

Washing clothes here.

Good morning.

Back at the farm I had the older type Windows.. With screens.
My MIL came over and helped me clean them. One of us in, one of us out. It still took all day, and we could not get to the 2nd story. 2 weeks later it rained and you could not tell we touched them... From that day on, I never washed the outside of the Windows until Rod replaced all the Windows in the house. We replaced 2 every year. They were the type that dropped in on so you could wash the outside from the inside. They were wonderful.
Now, here I sit with older style windows yet, as to wash any of the outside Windows you would have to go out and physically remove the screens. At the farm you could get to them by putting the screens up and down.
Yesterday I washed the kitchen window. And yes, it is clean, but you would never know it. And trust me, Rod is not of an age to start replacing these windows.I

Ok apparently I have been indoors too long.

We had freezing temps here last night.

What I meant Tina was I was going to use by left over beef stroganoff as a starch side...you know, as it had noodles in it. I decided to make the left over mashed potatoes into potato pancakes instead.

Tonight it will be hash..made with the left over chive/ butter boiled potatoes that I turn into fried potatoes and ground beef. I will add cooked green beans to it as well.....then it will be a one pot meal.

Junie, we replaced ours with the ones that open and drop in...you can take the screens out from the inside as well once they are opened....but I still have to go out to do the middle large pane in the living room, only the two sides open. It is too cold to open the windows to clean them...that's what I meant to say.

We had leftovers here...turkey soup. Now it is all gone.

Oh Turkey soup...you know I am envious. I just ate, and I am still hungry (for your soup)p

Oh I think you wrote it well, Sunny. It just made me think of how difficult it is for me to wash my Windows now compared to My last house. Esp. Since I tried to clean one yesterday.

Thanks so much, Tina....Rod was very pleased with our meal.

Going out to cover up my tender vegetation soon.

Sandwiches sound good. Esp. If it is hot outside. I hope it was enjoyed by you all.

When it is hot, I also like to make salads. But a yummy sandwich sounds good as well.

Watching a new deadliest catch episode right now.

I am just about out of lettuce. My next salad will either be a Waldorf salad or celery/carrot salad with some lettuce as a side part of the salad.I am soon going to make a new grocery list. With luck I will get to order some fresh veggies, and perhaps even some fruit..

At least I hope so.

I will say goodnight now. Sweet Dreams.

I have to go pick up our piglet later today....they were ordered before this pandemic so everyone still has to go. They are setting up appointment times, you just drive to the farm, they put it in your cage...you drop the money in a bag, they check the amount then you drive home.
It's too bad because it was nice to wait around and visit with all the farmers.

I'll take some of your heat...it is taking forever for my snow to melt.

It's turned cold here too. I'm glad because it got too hot too soon. We've had some hellacious storms lately though. I'm thinking about going to Colt's for a day or two. They've been inside we've been inside so I think if we had the virus we'd know it by now. His birthday is this month and I just hate not to see him.

If you go to see Colt. Please stay safe.

It flurried on and off here all day yesterday. DH got home from work early so we both went for the piglet...then ended up with two because DH said one by itself is too pitiful lol

We got two males(already castrated at birth)...Tina, it is $90 for a 6 week old piglet. I'll post pics tomorrow. They are kept in a 4 ft high pen so the kids can't 'get at them' to make pets.

So, we now have 5 cows(one pregnant), two horses, two chickens and two pigs....and a catload of barn cats haha

So how many cats in a "catload" Sunny ??? Hummm why

Wow A 6 ft fence. That sounds like a high fence. But now in their isolation, they will have company, right ?

That sounds like a lot of animals..sou d's to me as If you have a full fledged farm going there.

Still cold here...see, it is all my fault..I should not have changed over my jammies and every day clothes so soon. My apologies to you all.

Now, if it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to bring them up to weight, you'll have some good bacon and ham to eat and maybe sell. Good going, Sunny.
Good morning.

Tina, it costs about $1.60 a pound to raise them by yourself with feed by the time they are ready for the butcher. We feed them all our veggie and fruit scraps as well and fatten them up on buckets of wild apples in the Fall.

What's for dessert Junie?

I have to venture out to town to use the bank machine...wish me luck(I have a mask and gloves) and lots of hand sanitizer.

The dessert resembles a fudge jumble mix that one of the box mix manufacturers used to make. There is a layer of an Brn sugar, oats, nuts, and flour base...ten a layer of sweetened condensed milk and peanut butter, then another layer of the base that is mixed with chic chips... I am thinking the middle should have chic mixed with the sweetened milk and peanut butter chips should be mixed into the topping instead of chic chips..

I just do not want to do anything...I must come up with a plan to get out of this slump.

Junie, Milkstreet has some free online cooking classes until 4/30. Or you can just take a nap smile

Today I pulled honeysuckle off 2 fig trees. I've wanted to do that all winter but it rained every day. And started some squash seeds and basil seeds.

Thanks, for the idea 💡 Sheri. I guess I should really begin cleaning out drawers..but I like your and Tina's ideas much better. Thanks to you both.

I finally got my sage seeds. I will start some next week. I hear the cold snap is leaving this area by then. I do hope the forecasters are right.I

2 of my tomato plants are looking better. I guess they like the controlled weather that my spare room affords...not to mention the light my south facing window is giving them.

I just finished another book...it just came out 2 days ago...now I will be waiting again for the next book. But then 2 more books are due out next month on 2 more series I am reading.

Good night 🌙 to you all. Sleep well.

Junie, my mother is in a slump as well....she is not doing well with this 'lock down'. Take care of you, try to get out in the fresh air. kissie

We are having a cold snap here again, it flurries or snows a little every day.

We had Another frost warning last night. Rod thinks that it will be the last warning for this spring...I hope he is right. Median frost date here is between April 16--30. So I think Carol is going to use hers from Illinois to begin planting my tomatoes....around or a bit before Mother's day. But yes when that time comes, I will be getting out.

Supper in the slow cooker...

I just got your message..Tina...sorry.

I made sloppy joes using stew meat..that was why I used the slow cooker, so the meat would tenderize and shred enough to make the sloppy joes.
I hope there is enough for supper tomorrow.
I also have part of my nut roll thawing out to eat tomorrow morning with coffee.

Sleep well my friends.

I think our springs are hiding out together. Winter just does not seem to want to give up the ghost.

I have only been up 2 hours and I am already thinking of a nap.....

We've cooled off a lot too. I think tomorrow is to be a bit warmer maybe into the low 60's.

Junie have you been Face Timing or Zooming with your grand children. Shelley won't let anyone come near her house. She's so concerned about Colby.

Tina we had turkey sandwiches for dinner. I tried to order a pickup online, went through the entire process, when I went to pay I was told they were out of the main course and to pick something else. I gave up.

Tell me how to make sloppy joes.

I have not ordered anything, Sheri. I just do ot feel very safe doing so. You can't be sure about anything. Or maybe I'm just paranoid.
Tomorrow I'll have chicken stew for lunch or dinner.

Yes, Sheri..I Skype, Zoom, Duo and Marco Polo with the kids and my family. I think I like the duo the best..with skype coming in second. It does help, but first I need something to talk to them about.

I am trying to make myself order groceries from Wal-Mart to do a curb side pick up...my neighbor said it was difficult to set up but went real smooth when she finally did get it set up.

We did a delivery from the local coffee shop...it was costly as Rod gave her a good sized tip. But but was nice to have sweets delivered.

YEs, well with the exception of Luke who came first in 2012..with the next 2 my second DD had a baby about 4 to 6 months after my oldest had her children.

...............................Luke
Henry......................Micah
Heidi-Cora-Nora.... Ian
................................Alexandra

But you must remember...Val had triplets..else there would just be 6...with Val having 2 children.

Afternoon all,

Came in to pay a couple bills and then to visit a little... we took the car our for a ride today.. we are both having cabin fever I think... hubby more so than me.. I am used to staying in more than he is.... we just took a drive around all the subdivisions we didn't look at when we were house hunting … sure glad we bought where we did... most of the others had no yards at all and were really close together... and were mostly desert landscaping too... ours is small compared to what we had in Colo.. but we have grass and plants... and hubby put in 7 rose bushes for me .. had to leave my roses up there and it broke my heart... one was from my Mom before the memories started to go for her.. she always had roses and I planted a yellow one here for her it was her favorite...

Well think I will go outside and enjoy the weather while I can , supposed to get windy tomorrow and for next few days... just hope it doesn't blow sand too... joys of living in a giant sandbox....LOL!

Have a good evening all.... stay well..
Nana

I hear you, Sherri. It is hard staying in. Going out in your car was obviously the thing to do. And getting to know your neighborhood is not bad either.

Yes Nana...I too went out and planted some save seed today. Then I harvested some green onions for our supper. After supper I went for a walk around d the block. That fe!t good except it made me miss my friend I used to walk with back in Illinois. It was a good walk though.

Just now on Duo I watched my Grandson open his Birthday 🎂 gifts. Technology is wonderful.

Yep, you are right about the cake. They were telling me how Henry got to pick lunch and he chose Pizza from Pizza hut..and of course his Minecraft cake 🎂 complete with a happy birthday song...and all I could think was. " did you eat a piece of cake for me " ?...
I see a pumpkin pie in my future........

It's fun to think about. But about the only thing I can think of is catching and spreading this disease. I'll keep my distance for now. I don't want to think about giving it to people I care about.

Well since we will not actually be together, it is just a fun thing to say. If I was serious I would not be so flip about it. Even if I would LOVE to do that..it would not be practical even if we did not have this pandemic going on.
