It was so nice out yesterday....I told DH that I wish we had snow shoes for days such as that. We had old wooden ones that are worn out from when we were teens, I'd love to have new ones. I might start checking the second hand sites to search for a pair.

DH is gone to work early so barn work awaits after GG gets on the bus, GB is waiting for me to pick him up after his pre-school outing.

I hope you get a lot more of those days this winter. Followed by an early and warm spring. And a long growing season.

Thanks Tina...that seems like a good plan. No luck in finding any second hand snow shoes...I am going to check the price of the aluminum ones at the hardware store next week.

I've got a Chinese stir fry cooking....it smells wonderful.

Sunny, I hope that you find some reasonably priced snowshoes.

I am getting g ready to make a hamburger stroganoff but with ground pork. Val made it many years ago for us when they were visiting us back in Illinois.

Thanks, Tina. Ours was good, except that I think in future I will use a less spicy sausage.
Otherwise it was good. I also usually throw cut up green beans right into the casserole. That way you get your veggies but you do not really taste them. A win-win to my notion.

Sweet Dreams to you all. Sleep well.

I love vegetables for themselves. But I've put them into one-pot meals when my kids were little. I still do a bit for Teddy.
Sweet dreams.

Good morning! Coffee is good.

Tina, I began doing that I

With veggies one time when there were to many leftover veggies to throw away and too little to serve as a side. Add to thst, that while Rod will eat them, he is not a real fan. Now I do it for ease of serving. I like veggies for themselves as well. Before Rod retired, I often are roasted veggies for my lunch.

The sun is shining, the kids are fighting and DH is gone 'farm hopping' with an older farmer. The next time, I'm going and DH can stay home with the kids lol

We are supposed to get another ice storm tomorrow....the weather is getting stranger by the week.

Have a good day.

Good luck on trading your DH places......if it works, you could make a lot of money selling the "secret" to other wives.

Kitchen is clean, lunch has been served, and supper is thawing. Including a cake for DH.

Is farm hopping a kind of networking? I mean, is it a way to keep up on the way things are going for your neighbors and the local economy and the newest farm news? That is a very good thing. John did that and was a good neighbor in general.

Did we ever find out what "farm hopping" is?

We went to the movie today and saw Knives Out. It reminded me of Clue. We both liked it.

To my knowledge, we did not learn what farm hopping is. I too am curious.

I have not heard of that movie, Sheri. I guess so am going to start going to the movies by myself. Rod does not care to go. He even managed to " forget" to go to the ones he wants to see.

Sweet Dreams everyone.

Yup, the farmers are spread hours apart around here and most if not all do not do the 'social media' thing.....the average age of a farmer here is 70. DH and I are considered the youngest farmers and we are near 50. On the weekend a few guys will gather and go for a drive visiting a few farms within a 2 to 3 hr driving distance. They get to see what the farmers have for trade, sell and/or need help with.

Everyone stays in 'the loop' that way....we found out a few weeks back that a farmer we know from the horse pulls had lost his horse to old age then a few months later lost his wife to sickness. He was trying to find another draft horse(quiet and easy to look after) and could not, then the loss of his wife hit him financially as well as emotionally...the local farmers were getting worried about his mental state(he was 72 and needed to get out and be busy). Long story made short...last weekend we loaned him our Percheron mare for the Winter, he calls every night to thank us.

Yes, that is what I pictured when you said farm hopping. Networking on a large scale. Because John was very good at it all. He was going to university to become a veterinarian Until a car accident severed the nerves in his arm and he never recovered some fine motor skills. He taught agriculture after that. But always maintained his network.
Good morning. You have brought up good memories for me today, Sunny.

I never knew that was your DH's background...did he do any farming as well Tina?

Junie, I spent the day cleaning and mopping...the freezing rain and ice pellets are keeping me inside.

No, not much. He took a sabbatical for a year or so to help on a dairy farm of a New Zealand friend. He mostly grew things, trees and such and taught kids to do the same. Inner city kids who had never handled a rake or shovel before. His networking was with ranchers in the area. He was helpful to everyone.

DH and I worked on a dairy farm as well Tina...I like the farm animals but gardening is my main love. I am glad you got to share in such adventures as well.

Junie, I made a banana cheese cake in the evening after mopping. It is still dropping ice pellets and a snow mix...it will be another day of hiding indoors.

The barn work is done, my shower is taken....now I must find something to do to fill the day, there is no school either due to provincial meetings for the teachers.

Tina, we must be on a roll because I slept in until 7 this morning.

Junie, no I didn't have cheesecake for breakfast...although I usually do when I make it. lol

My mother was just here complaining about the roads being slippery...well duh, it's freezing rain back and forth the past two days. Mind you, it didn't stop her from running to the local store for lottery tickets and bingo cards...what a sickness to have.

Gracious...out on icy roads for lottery tickets ? Now I really have no problem with a person buying those tickets, but I worry when you say she went out on icy roads to do it. I hope she got home safe.

I guess it would be wrong for me to say that I slept until 8:30 huh ???

It is not wrong for anyone to sleep anytime. I was only observing how odd it was for me to sleep in. It is usually not log after that that I am considering taking a nap.
I worked on some house cleaning today. Until my water ran out. They are working on my lone.

No, I meant that it was wrong of me b,/c the times you 2 got up was way earlier than I got up and you both had gotten up later than usual.
.
I get up at 6:30 on Wednesday and Thursday.and between 6 and 6:30 on Sunday. The other days I get up when I wake up on my own...that is between 7:30 and 9 00.

Good morning..foggy here..which is sad as I need to go out.

Gracious....I too hope that your water line is an easy fix, Tina...it is it a problem somewhere else, or is it on your end ?

I bought some mini shredded wheat. It has been awhile since so have had any. My grandma would put hot water on it, and then drain it off. It warmed up and softened the cereal. It made me smile to think of her as I did that.
