I should have went to Val's as well...I was supposed to make bread yesterday but never got to it lol

I use the 'Poor man's bread' recipe:

~2 and 1/2 cups warm water, with 2 tbsp sugar and 3 tsp yeast. Let set for 15 minutes, then add 3 tbsp of oil or melted shortening, 1 tsp salt and add in 6 cups flour. Knead with an added 1/2 cup of flour for 6 minutes. Lightly oil dough, cover and rest for an hour, punch down and put in pans and rest another hour. Bake at 400* for 30 minutes.....it makes two large buns. I also brush the tops with melted butter as soon as it comes out of the oven.

I have used this recipe forever...I got it from DH's elderly Aunt. It's the easiest, cheapest recipe I have ever had...and tastes great.

Thanks ! That is a wonderful recipe ! I will try it soon.

Valarie gave me one of her loaves of bread...( She made 2 as well) DH is so happy to have fresh bread. I think I will give her a few days to eat her loaf and then I will make your recipe and share a loaf with her.

Again, thanks, Sunny

Can someone go to the bank for me as well? I hate driving an hour to get there....living in the 'boonies' has its disadvantages at times. I don't trust online banking...do any of you pay bills that way?

I need to mop today and do some mending to DH's work clothes.

You can come on over for fresh coffee and banana nut muffins but hurry the muffins aren't going to last long lol

Muffins and coffee sounds good..be over soon.

I don't pay online. I mostly use snail mail. Occasionally I'll pay via the phone. But it all helps me stay debt free. I go to the bank and get the cash I need early in the month. I pay all my monthly stuff in cash, groceries mostly, gas for my car, help from my oldest sometimes. Any cash left over at the end of the month goes into a stash for emergencies. I have few bills, just electricity, phone'internet monthly. I get my propane tank filled a couple times a year. Then other things like property taxes and vehicle registration and membership to clubs are once a year things.

We can't pay bills here by personal checks anymore....they aren't taken at a single store either. In fact, you can't even cash a government check at a store here anymore. I might look into banking by phone...thanks for the reminder.

Ouch, Sunny. That's got to be tough.
I have a different account for my online purchases. I only keep money I think of as disposable in it. That way if my info gets hacked, I can close that account When I was using my main debit for gas and such they were getting hacked all the time. My banks made good on the money spent but it bothered me. It is part of the reason for moving back to a cash situation and having the second account for purchases.
Good morning. It is going to be another t-shirt day. I love those in the dead of winter.

Hi all,

Happy New Year too, I know it's late but was getting over a cold and ear infection so wasn't moving much … am finally feeling like myself again, just redid my bills for the new yr... got a raise in soc sec and new amounts for insurance ate it up just as quick.. always something..
I pay all my bills online with my credit unions bill pay, was a pain to reset up when we moved here but its so much easier... most of them are on auto pay.. the ones with set amounts.. rest I go in on paydays and set up to pay when due.. so much easier for me and can do it even when we travel.. never had a problem..

It's been chilly here the last couple weeks.. some rain but mostly cloudy days.. the weekend is supposed to be nice though so going to try and get to stores and see what I can spend money on .. need a few things hubby is not good at picking out for me... do have to get laundry done too... so easy to put it off but needs to be done...
We took down our Christmas stuff yesterday... hubby did tree and then brought me all the rest to pack in the containers,, we need a small shed just to hold it all... though we did manage to consolidate it a little better this yr.. had a bunch of those round metal containers that flavored popcorn comes in and use those for the breakables.. worked really well .. even labeled them... LOL!

Well guess I will go find breakfast for myself..hubby is still sleeping... need to clean out my fridge too and freeze the extra tamales he bought for New Yr's dinner... keep them for snacks or dinner when we don't want to cook...

Have a good day all....
Nana

Good morning !

I have "Pay Pal Credit.". Online, for things I buy, like for me or gifts, I use "Pay Pal Credit".
The regular pay pal pays for my items immediately like a regularly osl, but then at the end of each month, I get a statement to pay. No interest if one pays the total balance when due....I may be computer inept but I cannot get Amazon to take it for payment, so we just our Credit card there. Our bank backs it up in case the numbers are stolen.

Kids are coming over to spend the day..

I have been using a debit card to pay for a lot of stuff but now everyone seems to be getting hacked when using their debit card. Some places around here won't even take cash anymore because of criminals I suppose so I'm not sure what to do. We don't have a lot of bills either and what we do have I pay some online. There isn't a local place to pay my power bill. I'd have to go into Charlotte and I don't want to do that. We pay that over the phone. I know 2 people who have recently had their Amazon accounts hacked and both were told to make sure and remove their credit card info after each purchase. It's automatically stored so I think you have to log out and then back in and remove it. I'm afraid to do any banking online but over the last year several of our bank statements never got delivered. They were scanned into the daily mail email I receive but never made it to our mailbox so where are they? The post office is no help. I'm thinking of getting a PO Box.

I hate to say this out loud, but so far no one in this house has been hacked. When my girls get hacked, and they do, they just get on the phone, and their bank or Credit card company takes care of it..and they move on, IMO Rod would stop using whatever card got hacked...and I am talking of the new one he got issued....So I hope we neither get hacked, ever.

If we cannot use checks or cash one day, I will be very upset indeed.

I decided to go grocery shopping since the cupboards here look like 'Old Mother Hubbards' lol ... I found two sets of white led Christmas lights for 75% off. They'll look nice wrapped around my wagon wheel since they are the tiny ones. I wish I could have gotten to the sale earlier.

Yes, so love Christmas sales..I got to none here, and I don't think I ever will. I think I may make arrangements to spend some time home next year to shop before and after the holidays....

I am glad that you found what you did, Sunny.

I had a good nap today...So I am happy.

Hello,

We picked a 5 gallon bucket of pecans today. We are going to let them dry some and then We need to crack them, hull them, and dry them out some in the oven. Then we are set..yay ! I hope to have about 1 gallon of killed nuts at the end.
