9:03 PM eastern Sunday night

We've been at Ginger's. At the rate Colt is growing he'll be taller than me by Christmas. Remember when I was worried he'd never be able to read? He's proved me wrong on that one. I remember being the same way with Aubry. Darbi set that bar way high, and I know it, but it freaks me out when children can't read as soon as they start talking. Oh well. Crazy old woman.

We are desperate for rain. The leaves are falling but only because it's so dry.

Saw a baby copperhead in the garden this afternoon but he got away before I could do anything about it. Hope he's gone for good.

Tomorrow I'm going to try something new. You know Johnny is a weirdo eater but I'm going to stir fry okra, egg plant, tomatoes with a little soy sauce. I've given away so much from the garden this year I've decided to try to get him to eat it for a change.

Try slicing up ( thin) the egg plant..later it with onion slices and some chopped garlic ( use the amt. of garlic that you think would be ok for your family. And the Salt, pepper, and butter. Bake at 350*F 30 to 60 minutes...Bake until veggies are tender.

The original recipe was for zucchini..but it works well for squash as well, so I am thinking eggplant would work as well.

I will say the stir fry sounds very good...serve it on a bed of rice..he will think you went to a lot of trouble.

Today is the first day of the annual moose hunt....I hope they clear out every one of them, that's wishful thinking on my part.

Morning ,

Well the recipe was ok but won't make it again... got it from Pinterest… hubby didn't like it much, hard to get him to like anything that is mixed up like a casserole... thinks foods should be separated ….

It's pouring rain here and thundering and lightning too every once in a while... we have mtns surrounding us and seems storms just stay here circling around … we need the rain though, does make me ache but guess it's better than the cold and snow in Colorado....

May get out the pictures and frames and start making my family display for the living room, and hang older ones in hallway... Joe can't go to far so he is trapped here to help....LOL!
He won't let me get on a stepladder anyway to hang anything...

Well off to sit in tub for a while and hopefully get less achy so I can get something accomplished..

Nana

I'll put pictures out for a while then get tired of them and put them away again. Depends on my mood I guess.

I didn't do the stir fry yesterday so I may tomorrow. Johnny and I don't eat onions or garlic so we're sort of limited on seasonings.

Tina, My SIL took her favorite pics to Walmart and got them put on a single canvas collage, it is beautiful. She only has the one large 'portrait' hanging but all her family is on it.

Why are kids so stubborn these days? I am on my last nerve with GG defying me. I don't believe in beating kids but the old days when you could spank their behind needs to be reinstated. madd

Spanking has it's place in the world. But taking away privileges works also. I'm sorry you're going through a rough patch, Sunny.

Yea, no one wants my opinion...but I completely believe in spanking. Nkw, I do not think it should be done when one is angry or emotional, so as to not get carried away, and have the spanking become more, but a slap on the cheek or buttock is very much in line to my notion.

And often if the telling them ( my grands) what they need to do or a time out has no affect then a tamp on the bottom often does turn the trick. But as I said, I am never upset when I do it.

NOW, I raised my oldest with giving spankings..she is a calm polite well mannered adult. An all around wonderful person who still points out how " if she had of done such and such she would have never gotten away with that", but points out that her sister did....

The 2nd child, born 6 years later, when one could not only not spank their child, if the child would lie and tell the school that they were " beat" the child was 100% believed and magnificent parents wound up in Jail.
As a result my 2nd child was nowhere anywhere near as nice or well behaved , as her sister was....she was and is a piece of work. Today she is still not nice to me at all, but she is very kind and polite to others, so I guess some good did come from her upbringing, such as it was.

That is where denying privileges comes in. If my kids wanted something, they had to earn it. Even if I had to make up some privilege to 'not' give them. If I had to bake cookies so that they could feel deprived to only get one when everyone else got two, so be it.

Yes, and that does work...but there are some kids that does not work for.. I had a male friend that I grew up with that thought that him being deprived was funny. I agree, that is the way to go if you can get it to work.

I will say, the making up of a privilege, so they can be deprived of it is a stroke of genius.
