Good evening!!
Carol has had all 4 Grandchildren since Friday at 3:30 pm. From then to around 6:30 today.
So what little I was on here I stole the time to do so.
I get a reprieve of tomorrow then the girls come back Wednesday. And Thursday.

Getting paid enough.....LOL....you read how much I spent on groceries before they came to stay, right ??? The regular 2 days for during the week.....Wednesday & Thursday. 7 am to around 4 pm. And no I do not get paid enough.....   I am headed to bed also, Sheri ! ! Goodnight sweet dreams ll!

Those grands are hard on $$...that's for sure. I used to pay my mother for babysitting while I worked but that was because she had such a limited income that it kept her from having to move in with us  GG is off to school and DH is off to work. What shall I do with my first day to myself???? .....clean this house from top to bottom and get a large tote full for the church garage sale.

No Tina, it is a public school. Luckily GG is into the leggings and t shirts from Walmart...you can't beat the $4 price on them.

Yes. I know well. My kids always went to public school as well. They tried a couple of years of uniforms at the local school but it fizzled out after a couple of years. Navy and white. They tried to make it as relaxed as possible by allowing blue jeans, etc for the pants and white or light blue or navy for the shirts with jumpers and skirts for the girls if wanted. Well, Jonni wanted so I sewed and made her some of of most non-uniform uniforms I could. And bought her socks (not covered in the regs) . She really enjoyed her no-so-uniforms. And still rocks the crazy unmatched socks all the time.

I've never heard of any 'uniformed' school in our province. My nieces attended one though in another province....and said it was awful.

It was actually fun to find things like four inch fringe in navy to add to a skirt, Sunny. Or a blouse in white with big, puffy sleeves. But I was glad when the experiment was over. I have leftover notions.

My girls went to a parochial school all years. No uniforms in any of them ever.
Emily's s boys have to wear navy shorts & red shirts to their Montessori schools, but that is where the restrictions end. Like us in public school now so there is no dress code there. Henry as a dress code ..but not too restrictive...navy, kacki, or black shorts or slacks..the shirts can be red or so.e other co!or that I forget..
Well I worked on the kitchen all day, with clothes washing thrown in...

I wish there was someone else to work in my kitchen.
They tried out the uniforms to try to make the playing levels more even. But a slob will still be a slob in uniform. A dirty child is still dirty in a uniform. Dressing is not the way to cure ills. The thing is to help people not dress them. Helping can include clothing but also teaching children how to care for their clothes (and themselves). And eating correctly. And involving families in education. So much more.

Truer words were never spoken. When I was a kid, a teacher took a boy home, gave him a bath, washed his clothes, etc. No one did a thing, but the boy was happy. If a teacher did that today she/he would be in jail...

When I worked in the schools I was told that uniforms were instituted to even the playing field as far as fashion. Some principals enforce it to the max and some are more lenient but overall in my area I think it worked and I never heard parents complain about it. The public schools don't have uniforms in the high schools but most of them have dress codes. (Colby's high school has a semi uniform code). At least one of the high schools doesn't have a dress code and when some of us from another school, including 2 male custodians, took our entire little school for a program at this school, we were appalled at what some of the girls were wearing. I noticed that the 2 male custodians kept their eyes toward the floor and when we were at our own table for lunch I asked them why and they both said they were embarrassed for the girls and would never allow their daughters to dress in such a manner. I'm not a prude and this school is in the affluent part of the county but I'm telling you these girls had on less than women working a corner. After seeing that I'm for some type of dress code in all the schools. Tina, you're right. It's a parental thing. Someone bought those clothes for those girls.

Good morning.
Dress codes are necessary. For girls and boys. This school had a problem and tried to fix it with uniforms. So the girl in the most jeopardy who got her clothes out of the bottom of the barrel still wore things of appropriate color held together by safety pins with inappropriate underwear. The boys who liked the gang banger look still wore there navy pants too large and hanging low. The school's fix wasn't i fix or even a patch.

There are some rules in the schools here. No skirts shorter than 6 inches above the knees....no shorts of any kind to be worn except in gym class. A tank top must have a cardigan over it and no hoodies worn is class. And I agree, if parents didn't buy it then the kids couldn't wear it.
They teach kids in health class how to clean themselves and such...can you imagine? We were taught that at home so there was no need for it in school back then. Times have changed.
Just got back from the local grocery store...I haven't been to town in over a month. I am running low on 'Walmart items' though, I'll need to make a trip by the end of the month.

Well someone needs to teach a child, so I am glad the school saw a need and addressed it.
Now that you mention it, my girls grade school did have a list of nots...no shorts bunless it was a certain forecast temperature..no spaghetti straps, shirts were to be of Bermuda length to name a few.
I am wondering how Sheri is doing. I saw on the news last night that the storm was headed her way..now she has not been around today......

That storm is showing such devastation....it is so sad. We are supposed to get the remnants of it Sat/Sun. Of course this is also when the Fall fair is...I'm not sure what will happen since it is all held under a big tent. Prayers for Bestofour. My microwave died yesterday. DH uses it to warm his meals when he comes home(his jobs are never a 9 to 5)...he tried to reheat his supper last night and it was cracking and buzzing then just quit. He said, "well there goes today's pay" Mind you, it is over 20 years old.

Sorry for your DH but 20 years is a more than fair time frame for a microwave. I do hate that that happened, though.
We are having a cool day today, complements of the storm. Then tomorrow it will be hot again. But that is better than devastating storms!
The sooner Sheri checks in the better.

Plants are watered, water put back for the next watering. Girls in bed. They are getting a haircut tonight.

But see that is the bad news..They are having the wedding tomorrow night at 5 pm....and then we "get" to stay at an expensive hotel for the night. She let me know last minute that she needed me there early for pictures...well that can not happen...then she invited Rod and I to see her open gifts..SMDH...if I had of known it early enough I would sure have made plans, but not now

no worries, in reality, you did not get the day wrong....the bride did..Most peop!e get married on a Saturday.
However, It could be that the 6th is the date when her parents got married..I know it was the first part of September, so it is possible.
No it is in St. Charles, MO. As I think, it is just West of St. Louis, MO. As I said, about a 2 hour drive.
Girl's are off to get their haircuts.

I took my step dad to the doctor today so I've haven't been on the computer. We're getting a little rain - we need it. No wind at this time. Junie - this typo made me smile "no shorts bunless it was a certain forecast temperature" Bunless shorts will surely get you in more trouble than you can handle.  At one of my schools the PE teacher took a little boys uniforms home and washed them every night. He'd wear his dirty one to school - go to the gym and change - she'd take it home - bring it back the next day. I'd like to know whatever happened to that sweet boy.

I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers also Sheri. I was also wondering how your husband has been lately?  We got frost this morning...but I covered my tomatoes and peppers. They are calling for extreme rains for Saturday night into Sunday(remnants of Dorian)...in fact, they are warning people of flooding again. I am on higher ground so no worries. I have to go to a 'meet and greet' bbq at GG's school at lunch time, then head up to pick up GB before supper. We had planned to go to a Fair this weekend but I am not going if we get the rain. We never got out for our day trip last week either because of the rain...wish I could send some to Tina

Tina, Gabrielle was heading straight for us but Dorian's winds are going to push it far East...so one storm will save us from another it seems. I woke up to this warning on my news feed: Environment Canada issues tropical cyclone warning, New Brunswicker's told: Prepare for 'heavy rain and violent winds'.

Yes, I had a good time..there was visiting and picture taking ( not professional) after the wedding And before the reception. The reception was far to noisy so not a lot of visiting there.
Next day there was more family visiting at the gift opening...and homemade quiche.

Hi all. We are o.k. There is some tree damage in my area but we still have power. The lower half of my province is in rough shape, no one has power, the lines are all down and it is flooded out. The storm dropped the temperature so quick that they got snow an hours drive from here. Hurricane snow...imagine that. DH will probably have the week off work, the lower province that he trucks to has been hit the hardest. The whole province has no power....it will take them awhile to clean up the damage. I am glad that it is over and that it took hurricane Gabrielle with it

Gosh Sunny glad you're ok. How did your garden fare? Maybe your DH will enjoy helping you clean things up a bit. Never seen hurricane snow. I only had one tomato plant break off..of course it was the 'beefstake' variety. it was so heavy that even old broom handles in the ground couldn't save it with the wind. The others were lighter(scotia kind)so the stakes didn't break. I didn't need DH's help since the damage was light. I cleaned up broken branches and such around the house....although we are now debating cutting down two large trees on the corner of my lot. They are getting taller each year and if they'd fall to the right...in a few years they might take out the power line to my house. It's a clean and mop day here.

Yes, Rod is talking about taking down the one full grown beautiful tree in our yard.
I do not want that, so we are in " discussions" about trimming back various limbs.

Fall chores here. I just moved around last years wood to the front of the wood shed...I need to put this years wood in soon as well. Then we have to go cut next years wood in a few weeks. Each month has something major to do it seems

Hi all. I had a bit of a tummy bug yesterday....I hope it was just a 24 hr thing.
DH watched some of the 9/11 as well last night...It was so heartbreaking to listen to people tell their stories.

I can.t watch that stuff. It gets to me. I agree on some of that, there were some shows I could not watch...but the one of how the president ( George W. Bush) delt with everything was most interesting. Girls are playing and I have to be with them on the sun porch. ( And now Heidi thinks I should make Jelly....now.

those kids are getting good at putting in orders aren't they? I just cleaned the stove pipes, DH can do the chimney...share and share alike. It's time to start prepping for Winter.

Tina, yes that is what I told her..that it was a lot of work and that Grandma had to just do that and nothing else when do made Jelly.( Did not even bring up the dangers of hot Jelly)
So yes we ended up making Jell-o. Grandma added the boiling water and stirred, and Heidi added the cold water and stirred it...then the other 2 girls stirred as well, so Jell-o was made...Next Jell-o making day someone else gets to pick the Flavor and add the cold water......In the past, we made red Jell-o, Blue Jell- o, Poured some of each out, then mixed the second half of each to make purple...but boy, that was a lot of Jell-o. This way is a lot easier, for sure ! !

Teddy likes jello. When I don't add anything to it. He got burned out on additives. I hid a lot of healthy stuff in jello for him.

Yes, my last post says I did it yesterday at 9:31 pm. I didn't. But when I try a fix it either doesn't work or it messes up again within a couple of days. I haven;t bothered with it for a couple of years.

I gave up on the time stamp thing. Tina, I'm blaming everything on something today. O.k. here goes: I have had a smell of mildew in my bedroom all summer. I washed the small carpets, sprayed the bed mattress with Lysol. Washed the walls with everything including bleach, even replaced the old curtains and I could still smell it. Today I had enough. I moved the furniture out, even took off the baseboards around the room and window. There was nothing...not a spot anywhere. I started taking apart the furniture...yes, I know I am nuts but I was at my wit's end. I found it, a large spot of mildew on the bottom piece of particle board under the large dresser. I have no clue why or how it is even there since there is no mildew anywhere else in this house. So, much to DH's dismay he'll find out that I took apart the dresser, removed the piece of particle board and used his sheet of plywood to make a new bottom. I am now waiting for everything to dry...I washed the whole dresser with 'cleaning vinegar' to kill any spores. What a morning. Long story short...I am not crazy as my DH stated all Summer.

Hi all,
Oh that would drive me crazy too, I am better with the OCD stuff now but I would have torn apart the room too....LOL! you should see me redo my large linen closet at least once a week.. everything has to be just so and hubby just grabs stuff and if it gets messy leaves it.. I am always refolding stuff....LOL!
We are planning (if no rain today) to go to the October fest at the park this evening , it will be cool enough then... it's been in the 90's the last few days but cools down when the sun gets down.... hopefully it will have lots of craft stuff , hubby will like the craft beer at least..LOL!
He brought in our family picture frames from old house last week and I have to figure out where to put them and which ones to put up... have a lot of them after 40 odd years....LOL!
well better get to that and see what I can do …. paid all the bills this morning and actually have a little extra this month so may make a trip to San Diego for my birthday … we need so just us time...

I would love to have James look into it. It is really frustrating. And whatever is messing up my timeline is the same little devil messing with Sheri's because we are showing the same errors in different time zones. It messes with the OCD part of my mind.

I slept pretty well last night. The last day of this nocturnal stuff at the park tonight and I will be free of it. Yay!

I hope you are not getting sick, Sunny. Hopefully you just needed extra sleep.
I went to bed early (for me) and I am still tired this afternoon.

I ended up going to be really early because I didn't feel good. Have a cough. Today has been 6 months since our son died. Not sure why that matters but it does somehow. 6 months seems like a long time when I say it but it seems like yesterday in my head.

Well, Sheri..look at it this way....now you have one more clean kleenex...well unless it was shredded into small bits. I thank goodness for the dryer in those cases.

I couldn't find the Kleenex to take it out of the washer so I ran the clothes through another rinse cycle, which has worked when I've done this before, but this time it made more of a mess. So I carefully lifted out the clothes and put them in the dryer. Didn't think about it this morning so when I opened the dryer tiny bits of Kleenex flew out the door like fireflies. So today I thank goodness for the vacuum Junie. 91° here.

Wel, yes thank goodness for the vacuum, Sheri. Sorry the Kleenex flew out of the dryer. Usually mine end up being trapped in the dryer lint trap. Sorry you were not so lucky.
86*F here...with a projected high of 95*F.....when it cools down, later this week, it is supposed to get 'down to' 86 for the projected high....... Not that I want winter to arrive, but some fall weather would be nice.

You know, we could go back to beginning our posts with the date and time...surely we can figure out on our own what time zone each of the others are in, so there is no need to add thst, right ?

So Tina, on my end it says you posted at 11:21PM yesterday that it was 4:20 on 9/16. I think you're only 3 hours behind me so I'm thinking something is wrong.

10:57 pm 9-16-19 central time. I spoke to James, and when he looks at your posts from his computer he says he sees nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps you should PM James and tell him what is going on in your words, ok Sheri ?? I just asked James how we are the time stamp...if we see the poster's time zone on their posts or if we see our time zones on other people's s posts .Because look: I will use 9:00 Pacific as an example) Pacific time zone (Tina) and (James).....9:00 am Mountain time zone..(Nana)...10:00 am Central time zone...(Juniegirl)..11:00 am Eastern time zone..(Bestofour)...12:00 pm Atlantic time zone...(Sunflowers)..01:00 on ( I think this is correct?) There is 3 hours difference between Tina and Sheri P.S. Did I miss anyone ???

I don't worry about time/ zones. Although at the moment it is 8:46 am Atlantic. Mind you, it is saying that it is 11:46 am on this site for me. Tag...someone else's turn to open a new coffeehouse
