A few years ago I planted 3 different cactus and now one of them is taking over. I want to separate them but not sure how to do so.

Can anyone help?

Welcome, vet.
If they are prickly types you need to handle them with gloves and maybe newspapers to separate. Dump the pot onto newspaper and using newspaper to protect from spines and things, carefully pull apart to separate tangled roots. Trying to do as little damage as possible. Give each plant their own pot with dampened, quick draining soil mix (usually contains quite a bit of sand). This should do you unless there is too much root tangling under there.
Good luck!

I like to use ice cube tongs to help me handle cacti when replanting. I also use rolled up newspaper - I roll it, and then wrap it around the cactus to hold onto it so the spikes don't stick me. Read this online many years ago, and it works!

When I am replanting my cacti I use tweezers but they do not fit to every cactus. I have to be very careful to not damage the plant. I also have some kitchen tongs and they are perfect for replanting cacti! Try whatever but be very careful!
