Ian ( he will be 3 in October) just came downstairs " to play trains"... Poor boy, I had to send him back upstairs so Val and her kids did not wake up. It is after 7 here but the kids bodies are still on central time.

Yes, many aftershocks. But I only feel the ones over 5 or so at the distance. Not as un-nerving as being in the local area where they have felt thousands.

Hi all,
Got the boys in the shower and hubby done too, my turn next , we are going to go see the movie Yesterday this afternoon, hubby is buying tkts while he is out, the boys aren't used to the heat yet so doing indoor stuff mostly, we do plan a trip to the lake when Carrie, Jon and Timothy come down end of the month... it's hard with red headed children to be out in the sun here, we will borrow a shade tent and lots of sunscreen..
Well last one out of shower, my turn finally... have a good day all.... !

Hi all. Well, I got three bottle of wild strawberry jam made...there aren't many to pick this year and the bears are too bad for me to wander off for the day by myself. I'll have to supplement the Winter's pantry with tame strawberry jelly

It has a unique flavor...it is hard to explain. I wish it could ship through the mail. I got the lawn, well mostly weeds, cut  It is a nice breezy day....it's a real treat to have no flies to tackle the outdoor chores. I also gave my potatoes their last hilling,

Yay for no flies ! I think a lot of yards are primarily green from the weeds. From my standpoint, if it is green, it is good.

Good morning.
It looks like we will be getting power outages this summer through fall. It will go out when there are high winds that could cause fires. This is due to PG&E up north maintaining crappy equipment. Patches where they need upgrades etc.
I think our SoCal Edison does better at infrastructure. But....

Hi all,
We have a hot day (101) today so are hitting the movies again with the boys. Spiderman.... good thing I like movies... we play a lot of scrabble too... Derek won yesterday , not bad for a kid with as many learning disabilities as he has, the teachers never figured out how to teach him... we had to do it ourselves.. and he learned what works for him too... will be a junior in high school this yr!
Happy Birthday to GG too, they do grow so fast , my great grandson will be 2 soon too!
Well got to finish getting ready for movie time… at least with boys here I now know the theater is pretty nice...

I hope your cooler gets fixed soon Tina. Nana, I plan to buy GG Scrabble....she has Bananagrams but they have lost some of the pieces. Scrabble is a great family game for all ages. I finally got GG's dresser and bookcase all painted. It looks so nice with the white and aqua....the only pink thing left to get rid of in her room is the garbage can It is calling for rain for the day...I will be making my strawberry jelly today. My garden produced a gallon of tame berries so far.

I thought aftershocks only lasted a day or two. One learns something new everyday The rain is the muggy, sticky kind...but I did make two batches of jelly for Winter with the time being stuck indoors.

Well boys did want to go swimming at inlaws but they had unexpected company so will stay home and think of stuff to do in the air conditioning, it's another hot day here... but that is expected in sunny Az.. I oven cooked 2 pkgs of bacon this morning and 1 is gone now,,, takes me and hubby a week to eat that much bacon...hungry boys 20 minutes!
Oh well that's why we have stores close by....LOL!
We had our internet speed upgraded, they had to give us a whole new phone number for the computer line too so had to re- hook up my printer, that took me a few minutes to figure out.. can't find the disk for it of course.. evidently hid it really well from myself... but boys helped me get the online version and that helped a lot. .good to have computer savvy kids around...LOL!
Well guess I better get busy dusting the house and figuring out dinner... they always need feeding these teenage boys are bottomless pits!

I have a blackberry pie in the oven, and some cinnamon rolls from the leftover crust dough on the counter. And, oh, bolied eggs cooling for the chef salads that will be supper.

Have fun Junie.
Today we have GB's 4th b-day gathering....at his favorite pizza place in town.
I am so glad that we never planned a birthday party, the weather is not cooperating......It couldn't rain any harder if it tried.

I am in a wet t-shirt. It's a great way to keep cool in a dry heat.

Yes they did. The cousins had grand fun with each other while we were in Virginia, and Val's kids thought staying in a hotel on the way out, and then again on the way home was the best thing ever....
We did not go anywhere...but then Emily has never taken Rod and I anywhere when we went out to visit her. Val was really looking forward to seeing the Smithsonian, but the day she and Emily were going to take the oldest 3 boys, is when Cora got sick....I am hoping Val and Henry will go back out sooner rather later so the 2 of them can get to the Smithsonian.
I have been a time or 2 so if I don't get to go it is not a big deal.

I am glad the grands had fun...I hope lots of pics got taken. GB had a nice b-day gathering, small and quiet....as we promised the pizza shop that we would be. (they do not want to do kids parties there). It is still raining, when this finally stops we will have heavy heat like we see in August. I'll be trying out the new air conditioner tomorrow as well

It is raining here as well, just what we do not need. We were just beginning to see the water levels in the fields receed.

Thanks, me too Tina and Junie. It is a portable unit but I'll take what I can get/afford. Tina, I want to thank you for sharing your earthquake ripple with me. We moved closer to the New Madrid Fault line by moving to Southern Missouri.

it wasn't much Junie...the aftershock shook the house a bit longer than the noisier first one. GG was excited over it

Hi all, Quick note to say HI , going to movies again this afternoon, to hot for boys to do much else...hard on these red headed kids, especially when one doesn't sweat so has to have air conditioning to stay cooled down... we do have wet towels for him too but they don't last long when it's so hot... got to get busy now and at least dust house before we get moving..hubby went to buy the tkts in advance. not that there is a line... I think there were 12 people in last movie counting us... don't know how they make a profit? well off to clean some....

Thanks, Tina. Val, Brian and the kids were here and I thought it the best choice.
...Right now, I am just out of the tub. I have 3 short people in their beds here, sleeping. (Henry thought he should go home with his parents)
"Mom" will come in the morning and we will take all 4 kids to the library children's program.

It is rainy here so cooler, but by the end of the week we will also have scorching weather.

Good morning ! Drinking hot tea here....
It sun is just beginning to peek out..but the ground is soaking wet. I should probably be out picking a few blackberries. My berries are on the end of their time. I intend to try to add a few more plants over time.

I would do that (buy BlackBerry plants at Wal-Mart). But these are sweeter than mine were at the farm, and I do not really want a different strain. Rod wants me to get plants from seed, I want to put the tips of vines into dirt and cut a part off when the planted tip has rooted. We will see who wins. We are at the end of a slight thunderstorm here.

I'd do the transplant as you said Junie...it is an easier way. I've seen that done around here with gooseberries. I'm getting caught up on my own 'honey-do' list. If the weather would co operate I might get it done by the end of July....just in time to start another for Fall.

You have a honey-do list ?? I thought that was just got guys....so sorry to hear that.
Going to the local chain grocery this morning. Rod fixed it so the kids are coming over early tomorrow instead of tomorrow night. I love how no one asked me, then it is all my fault and he did not tell her to bring the kids over early.....mind you she told me Tuesday that he invited the kids over early to use the sprinkler and play on the play yard.

If he did the inviting....then he can do the babysitting Junie, I find that making a list keeps me in check with things that need to be done/repaired. My next big project is putting a fresh repair of the old repair to the bathtub(got that ). I just keep repairing two cracks that DD caused by dropping shampoo bottles many years ago. I found a new repair putty for boats and gas tanks...time to strip it down to the acrylic/fibreglass and do a whole new coating. The old repair was made with stuff for repairing car bumpers.

Yes, good luck with the repairs, Sunny. I need to do something to my tub.....the previous owners put in a new tub - shower combo, as the glue from the stickers were still there....but then it looks like whomever instal!ed things, just threw their power tools into the tub. No holes but all kinds of nicks...some deep.  Glad you are getting a break in the weather, Tina. Sadly ours is just hearing up to be near 100*F.

We are getting such hot weather...I hope August is cooler in trade. The garden loves it though.
I need to go through GG's b-day list today, I need to get to town next week....and get her b-day gifts while I pay the monthly bills. Kids ask for the weirdest things these days.

Yes they do ask for strange things. My niece who will be 13 pin ( I think) has asked for yarn and Japanese candy...smh....but oh well, at least we do not have to wonder what to buy...

Ye, our heat wave moved east and they're getting slammed while we're doing better. Another one is coming. I hope there is'nt enough snow to ruin crops, Sunny.
