Ok, so I'm still looking around for decently priced countertop options. I came across granite tile and a place that makes "modular granite countertops" by using granite tile. They make special pieces that go on the front sides of the counters to give it a thick slab look. There is a store local to us that carries the brand and I'm seriously considering installing the tiles if they are decently prices (I would do the labor). Here's the question...if you had the option, which of these colors would you pick???? I think I like the blacks or the platinum quartz. But alot of people are choosing the brown colors when it comes to granite counters...which is nice if you ever look at pictures of sample kitchens. So, here is the link to the color options, which would you choose???

for me, I'd probably stay away from the black mainly because I think black would show fingerprints like crazy! but, I have kids and hubby is a slob. the finger print thing may not be an issue for you? also, I'd have to consider how much light I had in my kitchen. I like things very bright when I'm preparing food and cooking. black might absorb too much of the light.

I would stay away from any beige color---the house nexty door has it and the finished look looks cheap,---it makes blends into the cabinets and looks bland.---I have a deep/dk blue and it sets off the cainets.---I think NOT a solid like the blacks---but any of the darker designs you like would be nice----try to blend it in with the other colors of the kitchen.---

I love the midnight Jade on there on that picture---hard to say though without seeing it in person with light shining on it. I would absolutely go with a version of black. Like Carol I don't care for beige/brown countertops. They do tend to blend in with the cabinets. I prefer something dark---that's why I got a speckled black color for my countertops. I just think it looks classy. The platinum quartz is nice....I don't care for the one to the left of it though. I'd be forever thinking that the brown in it was stains and trying to wipe them off.

Whatever you pick though I'm sure it will be beautiful and really complement the vision you have for your kitchen!

I agree with the rest in Not getting something that would blend in with the cabinets, And I think it also depends on the theme of your kitchen, wall colors , accents and accessories. I've seen the browns and beiges that haven't blended in because of the wall color and type/color. of cabinets and tile on the floor,
I personally like the sapphire simply because My kitchen has cobolt blues in it and the blue in that granite will pop out in complimenting the blue accessories,,

I Do like the jade .Giardini Quartz and sage one in general I guess if I were picking one for a permanent counter top I would pick one that if I wanted to change the theme of the kitchen in a few years the counter tops wouldn't be an issue in that decision.

If it's at all possible, take a sample of your cabinet color (ie a small door or trim piece) to where ever you are selecting the counter top. Different colors look better depending on the color of your cabinets.

We did and it really made a difference when choosing the right color.

We were also told that solid black will lose it's finish easier so it's never a good choice.

I vote for the antica marron. it's got enough warmth to go with the cupboards, but also has plenty black to look pretty with stainless steel appliances. i like rock that looks like rock!

What colour are your cabinets?

Personally I like the 'sage rock'.....I love the colour green.

they are unfinished.....haven't decided on light or dark stain yet. they are oak, so will probably be a medium color.

The sage is awful nice too.... Jenn did you end up getting the unfinished cabinets from Lowes then like we did?

I have oak cupboards also...just remember they seem to darken a bit with age, and my countertop is a sage mix also

Loz, we didn't get them yet, but it looks like they are the ones we are going to buy. Lowes has all of the sizes we need.

I agree that there are plenty of colors to choose from, but if you could find a true model or design, it's easier to choose which one would be best for you.

I am fairly certain that hisgal2 has finished her kitchen.
