We had a heavy frost last night....the grass is glistening. Our last one should be after the next full moon. Today I will be sanding the front and back steps...our brutal Winter takes a toll on them. The next time I build steps, I am going to coat them in waste oil. Apparently it is the only thing that makes it through the seasons and just needs a quick recoat every year with no sanding in between. Sounds crazy but it works well....especially if you want a brown color  DD and I will go to a variety show a her school tonight.

I am g!ad that works well for steps, but how do you avoid bringing oil into the house on your shoes ?
A variety show sounds like fun. Have a good time !
Kids coming here again for awhile today. Momma has a hair appt. And possibly a nail appt....

Junie, The oil soaks in completely within 48 hrs....if one does it in the heat of Summer. Take a day of rest Tina.  I planted up my three flower pots, I'll have to take them in the shed at night but I want to harden them off. I also prepped my veggie garden areas for the next round of planting.

We went to the variety show only to have the school put on lock down. I have no clue yet what happened but there were police cars everywhere outside......it was so sad to see children crying with fear. I am waiting for a call to figure out what happened.

I love brown eggs ! My Emily used to call them farmers eggs. Also the only way to make farmers eggs was to soft boil them. Ok gonna have to buy some brown eggs now....

I think it was a keyboard problem. I'll get better at it as I get more practice on it. I am learning things all the time.

The problem with my vacuum is mostly hair. Jonni's long hair is the worst followed by her cat , then mine and Teddy's short hairs.

My chickens are settled in....the are such pretty birds. I am glad to have gotten the red layers this time. I am having trouble with moose again. They tore apart my cattle fencing in the worst way.

Rod just finished the lawn here. He could not do the West side of the house . The neighbors trees shade that area and so it was so muddy he could not even take the push mower thru there. Me, I slept. I guess whatever meds make me sleepy.
I spoken to Val, she landed in Florida safely. I hope she has a good time.

YEs, My birthday was June 8 th. I told the guy at Red lobster that I was 21....  Oh so the calendar is really gone ? I cannot see it in this tablet, can't see the sides at all really, but when I got my laptop back it was gone there also... I thought it was my laptop...I will look again on it then if needed I will ask James.

Oh my I LOVE Pie. as a child I loved cherry pie that my grandma would make--then when I married Rod I found out one could make pie from fresh cherries and not just cherry filling. Then I really began to love cherry pie..now Blackberry is my favorite. I have never made pie from just cherries and my MIL has passed....

My grandfather would eat fruit pies every day....blueberry was his favorite. I'll cook them and you can eat them. I have a school event to attend this morning...the kids had to write and illustrate a ten page book. Creativity at its best

Painted yesterday on my ceramic bunnies, the fur color is done. I also washed some clothes. Today I need to figure out what dinner will be tomorrow night then go buy what I need for it at the grocery. Then this afternoon Rod and I have errands to run in Cape Giardeau.

It was a nice classroom project Sheri. I ran all DH's errands and then picked up a set of 'black out' curtains for my bedroom. My old set had fallen apart after years of washing and I was too cheap to buy a new set. After weeks of waking up at 5 am I figured it was time to get a new ones, the strange thing is that they were only $22 at Walmart....I paid over $50 from Sears twenty years ago.

My black out curtains were like 34.00 at Kohl's and were on Sale ...big time. I think they were like $75.00 originally. Not that I would have paid that....no matter how good they were.

The new black out curtains don't have the rubber lining...it is a 'double lining of some sort'. They'll wash easier but probably won't work as well.
Raining here, I have to go for GB as soon as the bus picks up GG.

Ah we have that type here too as well as the heavier ones. .I bought that type a few years back, and ended up taking them back...then I just put up a blanket over the kids bedroom window when they were over. I hope yours work well enough for you.
When we moved here, I watched for a good sale at Kohl's.

Had the kids again today. Made them left-overs for lunch and ground beef stroganoff and green beans for supper. They all + Valarie will be over for supper tomorrow night. BUT not to worry, Rodney is going to cook ( Read he will get order out pizza and I will make a salad.)
Hand dishes washed, house straightened and dishwasher running with the rest of the dishes. I will watch some TV then go to bed.

I'm coming over for pizza as well The pollen has taken us over...we are all feeling crappy. That dandelion powder does us all in every time. Thankfully it is short lived.

Cattelina dressing DH is working today but when he gets home we will have his 'Grampy's Day' celebration since GB is going home tonight. They have been eyeing up the cake since yesterday

We had pizza tonight. Tomorrow we will meet at IHOP at 10 am...for " Lunch". Now it is my fault for leaving the living room but really..who does lunch at 10 am ??? And then I will probably spend the whole day alone..I was looking forward to a.nice lunch out ( at actual lunch time)

Sounds like your lunch has turned to brunch...either way, have a pancake for me. The kids were so excited, they gave Grampy his gifts then had to eat some of his chocolate bars with the cake

Yep about the "brunch".
Henry Ford thst...Last year his dad got medium sized you truck with a trailer that had a zero turn mower on it..Henry was so thrilled!ed to do it...Then Papaw got a smaller version of the same outfit for his birthday.....

I've got a sick GG....my throat is sore as well. Mind you, we are covered in pollen outdoors....so that isn't helping anyone.

Oh my, so sorry for your G G Sunny. I hope you both feel better soon.
Weather people say between today and Friday we will get 1 - 2 more inches of rain. We got 1 - 1/2 inches last night. Of late I have been thinking I should build an Ark...

Well today I had a nap and did some local shopping.
We had taco crunch for supper and I watched some TV....Really I need to get some energy so I can get some work done.

If I've mentioned this previously forgive me. I looked back but didn't see it. Maybe 4 weeks ago I was at my mothers and Johnny met us at a Mexican restaurant in her little town, a little over an hour form me. Johnny ordered 2 hard shell beef tacos. The waiter said " we have authentic Mexican food so we don't have hard shells and we don't have ground beef - only shredded steak, barbacoa, carne asada." So he ordered 2 soft shell carne asada tacos and said he'd also like an enchilada. Guess what...no enchiladas either. My best friend is from Mexico City, Mexico and I asked her about this and she said they're nuts. Hard shells may not be found in some restaurants in Mexico but if you cook them right you get a chip consistency and Mexicans love hard shells and that enchilada's are very authentic. Anyway, what we all had was good and we've been back sense. My friend is going with me next time and have a talk with the owner - in Spanish

Jeepers, we don't have Mexican restaurants here....but the Mexican section in the big store has hard and soft kits as well as enchiladas.

What is taco crunch?
Sweet dreams all. I make my own Taco Crunch...the cook at the girls grade school used to make it...it is easier to eat than a taco.........hard or soft..... Taco Crunch: You cut up a bowl full of lettuce, set out a bowl of shredded cheese ( I like mild cheddar) Set out a bowl of cut up tomatoes Get a bag of regular corn chips Brown a pound of ground beef, and season it as you would like. Then you can also set out some salsa and sour cream. In a bowl or plate, put some crumbled up corn chips Layer chips with lettuce, ground meat, cheese, and tomatoes. Then add sour cream and/ or salsa if desired. Mix and eat..

Yes, Taco Salad with corn chips....
I have been cleaning and fixing up gifts to take back home.....
3 ceramics gifts for my friends..(Very late Christmas gifts)
My sister's Birthday gift box
My cousin who helps my mom 3 days a week
My niece a little pin for her birthday that was in May..
I am going back Thursday to spend a week with Mom, and so I am going to take some gifts with me as well.

Thank you, Tina. I cannot drive in roads with 4 to 6 lanes in o e fire too , and I have to go thru about 15 - 20 miles of that on the way home. So Rod will take me....and then he will Come and get me around the 29 th. I
I am going to be in the area with Momma while my sister goes on a vacation with her whole family.

My Daughter was going to drive my car down and then go home with her Daddy. But my mid e wanted me to keep her puppy while they go on vacation with her mom So she is leaving me their small car..so I can drive down to mom's from my sister's every morning.
I was looking forward to having my car with me so I could do some shopping but oh well...

Safe travels Junie...is there a bus you can take to get around town? I'm sure your family wouldn't mind you taking the car for shopping as well.
I am going to take GG to the clinic after lunch, it only opens at 12 today....she now has a sore throat, ears, dry cough and phlemy eyes. My mother has to pick up GB today and keep him since the day care is closed tomorrow. He is quite excited to have his own sleepover with Meama.
Off to do the barn work in a bit since DH had a double run to make today at work.

The clinic opened at 9 am with a nurse practitioner so off we went. GG has an eye infection, ear infection and an inflammation causing the cough. I was told that now days an adult has to have proof of a strep throat to get any antibiotics for a throat infection. So I was swabbed and will have to go back in 24 hrs if it is positive.
