It could be worse...it is snowing East of us. It is only 32*F today...oh well, mosquitoes won't breed in this kind of cold I just mopped myself into the corner. It forces me to take a break and play on the computer

Yes, I agree about it could be worse.
We currently have pants & such here b/c of all the rain..but you know, it could be ice a d snow, so I will take the water, as I am sure you will.
I really must figure out how to do that with the cleaning. Perhaps I can mop to the stairs so I would have to go down and paint my ceramjcs......

Afternoon all,
We are home again, we left just before snow hit... we got rained on all the way thru New Mexico but finally hit sun in Az again... was cold in Colo. the last day.. graduation was nice though- just sprinkled on us a little bit. was held at an outdoor stadium called Red Rocks, it's beautiful there but there is about a million steps... took me a long time but I got in and out with my bad leg... but was worth it to see Timothy graduate...
Was really nice to see all three of my kids together too.. and my niece came over after the party. she had to work so missed it and grad. but was good to get to see her too.
Well back to cleaning and doing trip laundry... love visiting but sure is work when you get home!

I went out Saturday and bought a new computer and phone. I came home and began setting it up to use and the electricity went out. When that was repaired the modem wouldn't work. It took until today to get someone out to repair that. So here I am trying to learn windows 10 and how my new computer works. I am slow.

What kind of phone is you get ?
Storms over...now to wait to see if there is any residual rain.
Going out to run a few errands today. Tonight I have a tomato plant to put in and some watering of pots to do.

Good morning. I gave in and got a Samsung phone. I didn't want a smart phone but there is little available that isn't any more. And a phone is necessary these days. I did get a Surface Pro w/keyboard. Learning new things all the time

I resisted a cell phone for years. But payphones get rarer and harder to find. So I got a trac phone for on the road. I have used those for over 12 years. But didn't need one at all. My new Samsung is also used as a tracfone. I will pay 20 dollars every 3 months and have it for peace of mind.

I use my phone for 'must call' situations as well...I have an internet block on it so I only pay $10 a month for 100 minutes. Mine is an Alcatel pixi that I got for $80(it was a b-day present from DH).

I got my mulch all spread around my house...well in the foundation garden beds.
DH picked up my compost today as well...at 3 bags for $5, I wish he would have bought me more. It was just the seafood compost on sale.

Seafood or seaweed, Sunny? Seafood...it is crushed by-product from the fish/seafood factories. I have bought it before...you just have to wear gloves because a few pieces of sharp shells find their way into the bag. ....still washing walls here.

My grandparents always used fish and seafood as compost....I try continue, especially since it's the cheapest compost available here. All the walls and ceilings are washed  Tomorrow I am going to the local garden center near DD's...they are having a big anniversary sale.

Yes, Tina, I had all 4 kids yesterday..Val' s friend from high school came down and they went and got pedicures and manicures. While Val was waiting for her friend to arrive, she went and got her grocery shopping for the weekend done. Mind you now I have to get my shopping done today.

They had a 'fill a flat' for $20 on annual/veggies and a $2 sale on Hollyhocks and jacobs ladder. I wish I would have had more than the $30 I had to spend....but we had fun.

Thanks for her. She is the one that is the Nurse Practitoner. She wanted her PHD so she could teach. But now she teaches and practices in a Peditricians office one day a week so she can take care of the family. She gets to call herself "Dr." But she is not an MD.

Taking a break. Strawberry Pie made..Spice Cake made...deviled eggs made, meat thawed and dishes washed. I have to make the frosting yet ( peanut butter ) assemble the potatoes, fix the corn on the cob, off or the cob, and make some Mac & cheese for the kids. And oh, btw..I need a bigger kitchen..js.

Wish you both ( and your fami!ies) could have come. It was all good. Rod made pork steaks on the grill. Val cleaned up the food, and when they left, I hand washed some dishes and put the rest in the dishwasher. I should be asleep.

I just got in from double hand digging my garden...I must be crazy not to have a tiller. The older I get, the more I see I'll have to give in and get one. Tomorrow I will rake the clumps and make my drills. I can plant my potatoes the first week of June

Yes, may you have a fabulous crop. I do miss having a nice Garden. I have not had a real nice one since the farm. My dad would bring over his large tiller, and either he or my DH would till my garden.

Oops, I am sorry. My brother's baby girl, Lauren, is getting married in September. She is 24 or 25, and is a CPA.
Her Bridal shower is June 9 th,
I do not get to go as Valarie would be my way there, and she will be on a plane the 9 th to go off seeing her friend from high school who lives in Florida. But I still want to get her a gift. After her, the only Grandchild left unmarried is Brandon...My Brother's son.
Going to sleep now...nite- nite.

Yes, it does take a village. Remember, her needing a village is why we moved here.
She is also going to see Emily in July...she left-handed!y offered to take me, and while I would love to see Emily and the kids, I am going to offer to take the kids..perhaps she can fly then. If you add up the hotel room and food for a 2 day trip, I think if she shops around, she can find a ticket for the same money.

I have red Pontiac and Gold rush russets this year....and GG said I have 62 to plant . I also leave them scab over for three days. It is raining this morning.

3 days...welll, clearly I was wrong.. I usually did around 24 hours. I guess I got lucky with them. Home grown potatoes are the best.. .I miss them dearly.

You can do 24 hrs Junie for cut potatoes...I just do 3 days to be triple sure. I hope for a bumper crop as well Tina, thanks. I cleaned DH's shed today....just to have him put it all back in and where I moved it from, I give up.

That about your DH makes me laugh. You are still better than I am.I would never clean out his shed. Besides, he is prone to throw it out on Monday only to need whatever it was on Friday....
I planted some wavy hostas tonight this evening and then took a walk.

I put stew beef, onions, sliced celery, beef bullion, and water in my slow cooker. Made beef and noodles for the girls and stir fry for Rodney.
All bathed and ready for bed now.

Oops sorry, "I" am bathed and ready for bed. I fed the girls their supper as they are used to getting their supper about 5 to 5:30 every night. Then they are usually in bed by 7...now they may not be sleeping that soon but in their bedroom they are.
I did not have their PJs with thrm, so no they did not spend the night.
We are going to the town yard sales friday, and I intend to buy some jammies, and
changes of clothes for all 4 kids. Yard sale prices are good for a Grandma that will have her clothes outgrown long before they are wore out.

Sweet dreams, Carol. I found hand me downs a lovely way to stretch a budget for my kids. At least until they got to the age of wearing things out. Then things became harder to find

I accepted hand me downs for DD joyfully...it sure made things easier financially when she was young. I hope you find some great items. Someone's coming to buy a yearling bull today

Good morning !
Oh if it were not for hand me downs, Carol's wardrobe would be in sad shape.
We did go to a yard sale last week that had some new . wonderful brand of woman's clothing ( according to Val) and I got 3 tops and a pair of leggins, all for $20.00. If I could have tried them on I might have bought a few more. My sister usually kept me supplied in different clothes, via hand me downs...but with living so far from her, I am thinking I will not be so lucky any more.

Morning all.
Sorry for your gloomy weather Tina, wish I could send you all some of ours... warm not hot and slightly breezy to keep the bugs at bay... wishing I could find a nice patio set so we could eat outside. specially breakfast.. going to hit the park tomorrow . there is a gathering every Wednesday of people who sell neat stuff and some garage type sales too.. really like the idea of the produce and farmers mkt stuff available... really like this small town more and more..
I am going to go wash windows today.. did indoors yesterday of most of them... need hubby to reach most of the outside though.. sometimes being only 5 ft tall is a pain... sometimes it's an advantage though...hubby painted all our inside doors the last few days.. my bedroom was last , it's still in progress... they sure look better though..
Well off to get windows done and see what else I can get done before day heats up to much... have a good day all!

These will does here will only get a kick and a promise. They are the old kind that have screens on the outside. My o!d house had tilt in Windows and so we're easy to keep clean. Sounds like things are coming right along, Nana. Good for you ! Sheri, sounds like we are getting your rain. But then Rod likes it, as it saves him having to water the trees we p!wanted this spring. I think in the long run your weather is to be envyed, Tina. I think I will take a walk again tonight.

Hi all, more rain for today then it is calling for a full week of sunshine. I hope your gloomy weather fades away as well Tina.
Junie, I buy all my clothes at Walmart now...it's not the fanciest but at least one can afford them new with the basic $6 to $12 prices. (I live in yoga clothes).
Bestofour, I hope the rain visits soon...that is a long dry spell.
Have fun at the sales Nana.
On another note, do any of you have any advice on those portable air conditioners?

We bought 110 volt AC unit for Emily back in the day. That unit went into a window and then just plugged in, we also had a 220 unit and needed a special electrical line. The one we bought was a simple 1 room unit . I think you might want to buy a stronger one, then add a floor fan to disburse the cool air to all around the house. We had a circular house ( one room lead into the next in a circle) and the fan helped make the whole house livable and some rooms really felt nice.

I have to get a portable one because nothing fits in my newer windows. I was just wondering because there is a 9000 BTU on sale that I could afford by the end of the month. My living room, dining area and kitchen are open to each other.

The ones I've seen need to be vented outdoors because they can poison you indoors with carbon monoxide.Make sure your family is safe, Sunny.

The ones I've seen need to be vented outdoors because they can poison you indoors with carbon monoxide.Make sure your family is safe, Sunny. Yes, it comes with a vent that fits into the new kind of windows. I can't get my lawn mower to start...I hope it is just the battery that needs charging.
