Good morning.

I think today will be a laundry and baking kind of day. I can feel a 'tired Sunday' coming on lol

I just got the mopping and clean up done.

GG has the week off of school for March break. They should have just kept school open with all the days they have been missing.

Yes I agree they should have just kept school open. Poor kids will be going to school half of their summer break.

Valarie has told me that with all the time they have been missing b/ c of the flooding in her school district, they may well, just call off school for the rest of the year. Henry, her oldest, is going to be 5 soon, and back in the year he was born, Val' s school just closed for the year at some point b/ c of the flooding the year Henry was born, it was Easter that year, (April 20th) Her school ends around May 15th so they just said forget it, school is over this year. More schools should do that. I feel sorry for the kids having to make up this time in the summer.

I have another storm to clean up this morning...only about 8-10 inches though. It is showing no snow for the rest of the week though, and I am glad.

I had another calf born..a little girl.

Wow 2 calves AND no snow for awhile! Good for you !

My head is full of congestion. I hope it drains soon. I also hope that I adjust to this weather soon.

Sun is out...I'll take it.

Morning , Had to go read back for a while to catch up...still trying to redo budget for new med costs and reorganize … had to take a break..
Joe took my car in to check it for latest recall.. hopefully it will be fine... but they have to fix for free it it's affected to at least there is that..
Now he is walking Milo and then hanging more shelves in shed.. his allergies attacked him the last few days.. spring has arrived for sure, hopfully mine will be over now... can't take my usual meds anymore so hopefully they will be easier on me now..

Well better get back to it and get my stuff organized again... got a lot of filing to do too...

Have a good day all!
Nana

Hoping the new meds work Nana.

I think clothes multiply in the hamper Junie lol

I have to go pick up GB later, he has been asking for a sleepover at my moms and of course Wednesday is her only 'stay home~no where to gamble' night. crazy

I budget here as well....and mostly stick to it, much to my dismay at times. I find it so hard grocery wise on a limited budget with our high prices.

Well budget is figured, unless of course somebody raises rates and prices... we lived off savings when Joe first retired, now we have both of us on SS and my retirement, so we don't have to use the IRA money so much... plus moving lowered our expenses a lot.. sale of house up in Colo almost paid for this one so that helped too, hopefully will start adding to savings now to that health ins isn't so much as it was before... so far anyway.

We are going to head up to Colo soon to take our taxes in and see kids for a short visit.. going back end of May for Timothy's graduation.. how did he get so Old so soon? seems like he was just starting school..... time sure marches faster the older I get.

Hubby had a doc appt to be checked for glaucoma but doc wants to see his new medicare card and we don't have it. have the number but not the actual card. they have to send a new one- says they sent one in Dec of last yr.. never arrived here... so we are on the 4 to 6 weeks list again... always something.. hope it gets here before the rescheduled appt...

Well better get moving and get something actually done today. need to do up laundry and figure out what we need to take with us to Colorado.

Nana

Five long days without Internet. Hopefully it's on for good now. And I'm back! I am just glad my phone was working well enough for my eldest's surgery yesterday

Well, she had a full hysterectomy and several additional fibroid tumors removed so recovery is going to be a pain and slow and aggravated by instant menopause. But she sounds well and no cancer so...

Gracious, been there,,,,I hope she ;listens to the Drs. and follows advice. I should have listened better back in the day, so I am the voice of experience. it is about health years down the road, not just about recovery right now. Prayers for her and for you and yours. Thankful there is no cancer.....

Yes, I've held people up as examples to her. She was split from the breast bone to the pelvic. The one tumor that they estimated at 5 lbs was actually 3 tumors all smashed together and around 6 lbs. A couple more half pounders. Plus the plumbing. She's 46. Poor baby.

Oh my, yes, poor baby. I was 55 as I recall, and that was young enougj, but 46, is for sure way too young. I hope she has an easy recovery of it. But look on the bright side. Sounds as if she will be a fair amount smaller, and no matter who you are, that is a good thing, right ? so yay for that. The loss of the plumbing is not so bad. There are some good sides to not having all of that to be worried about.
Good night and sweet dreams, Tina. Good to have you back.
Good night to everyone.

Yes, Tangela has lost a "baby's worth" of weight. But I never came out of the hospital delivery room in my skinny jeans. She still has work ahead after a full recovery. And the recovery is going to be several months.
Good morning. It's so good to be able to say that!

OK, they took twenty pounds out of Tangela. There were a lot of fibroid tumors in her. That is a bunch of junk along with her uterus and ovaries. She feels much better and should be coming home tomorrow.

Lent began with Ash Wednesday ...day before yesterday. Catholics (& some Lutheran's ) have fish fries on Friday's in Lent. Well, all but Good Friday.

The Night's of Columbus that is close to us here serves fish
( and apparently fried Chicken why ) during Lent. We are used to going to a Lutheran Church in the next town to us back home, so we hope to continue the tradition here.

We had fish for Ash Wednesday as well.

Prayers for Tangela. I pray all is well for her now.

I have been busy with my Uncles...apparently their worker has March break off as well and the spares were all being used. Schizophrenia is an awful disease.

Speaking of fried fish, I like brim the best. What are you reading Junie? I'm reading through Louise Penny's series about Inspector Gamache. Like it.

I've had a cough for a couple of days and can't sleep. It's beginning to get on my nerves.

Sheri:
I usually like to read Nero Wolfe by Rex Stout..although Robert Goldsboro has written some of late that are ok....then if course I like anything by Agatha Christy.
Of late I have been reading several Cozy Mysteries ...they are very short reads, which are very good for say a Drs. Waiting room. Or you can finish them quickly. They are series books, and you can follow the back stories from book to book which is fun.
Here are a few,:
Cedar Bay Cozy Mysteries..by Diane Harman
Culinary Cozy Mysteries..Nancy McGovern..
Parkdale Cafe Cozy Mysreries....by Agatha Frost

There are more..I get free offerings every day thru Freebooksy (I think it is) in my email I read them on my Kindle fire.

Tired of this cough.

Junie I"m reading Trunk Music by Michael Connelly. I"m in a discussion group on Goodreads. My book club read We We"re the Lucky Ones for March. Very good historical fiction.

Not too sure I need batteries in my smoke alarms...
Changed clock batteries last week...(it died early)
Most of the clocks change themselves. I changed the 3 that did not.

Very tired, I should not have stayed up and washed bed clothes.

Going to see Momma tomorrow.

My son's mother in law just passed away, she had been in really bad health for a while now, had pneumonia again for the 3rd time this yr, had emphysema and COPD, smoked for yrs , so sad , was younger than me too... they new it was coming but you are never really ready...

Well off to get tax stuff sorted, need to get it done … really just don't like doing it so put if off forever...LOL!

I am back..I was back since supper but I had to go to Valarie's with the girl's belated Birthday gifts.

I had a good day. My sister and I took momma in for a check up with her Dr. Then we had a few errands for momma. But it was still a good day. Momma tried to get Rod to stay overnight, but she had no luck.

Hi, Nana...good to see you. I hope your tax prep goes wel. Sorry for your families loss.

I am having computer trouble again.

Half the sites won't come in, I get a "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED OUT"...any ideas? I am at a loss and fed up.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Got it fixed..for now. I called the service provider and fought for help. It was something about a 'LAN' issue. Computers are not for dummies like myself.
Good morning! I agree I have long thought that as much as the world uses computers, they should be simpler to care for. Like back in the day phones were invented...you knew how to use them..and if you did not, all you had to do is have someone explain it to you once...now a days there is all kinds of issues...not fair or right .
My biggest problem is sharing a computer. I wish I had one all to myself...oh, to dream.
Getting caught up on laundry today...I think it multiplies by itself in the hampers lol
About the laundry--I think you are right....I see that as the only way that 2 people could make so many dirty clothes.
Sunny,,,aroiund Christmas watch and buy yourself a Kindle Fire, Around Christmas they are around $49.00 That is what I use most of the time. The only thing I cannot do is print from it, and as it has a printer icon I am guessing that there is a way to send documents to a printer as well---surely someone will know how to do that.
OR they have ones for the kids as well they are inexpensive also. Then they have the permanent case things that go around the edges to help protect them. The kids got them for Christmas. The girls have pink cases and Henry has a blue case. They got them and not much else. Val decided what they had on them so they cannot go anywhere they should not w/o an app so no worries. That solved a lot of Valarie's issues.
It would be wonderful if laundry did multiply in hampers. I'd never have to buy clothes again unless somebody grew.
No lunch out...but I did get to go around Wal-Mart by myself while Rod was getting his eyes chevked. So there was that.
But when I said I thought sure you would stop for lunch, he said well, why didn't you say something...I really need to start keeping score.
Yes, that is true. And I got to shop by myself. So it was fun.
Valarie asked me to keep the kids tomorrow...she is still sick and she cannot rest with the kids home..they are well, and run and slam doors all day. She lead with " are you throwing up yet ? ". Since we are either going to get it or not, I said we would watch the kids so she could rest, so she is bringing the girls, and maybe Henry in the morning at some point.
I as well hope the flu passes Junie.
One of the local women here had her pic make the news. This was taken just a 5 minute drive from here for the #Snowbankchallenge. Then the police and power company gave out a warning not to take the pics because people are able to touch power lines. This is along the main road...people are writing their house numbers on the snow banks because emergency vehicles can't see the houses from the roads lol
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D1iwXUOWkAEg2eC.jpg:large
It won't leave me upload it because the file is too large...I wonder if copy/paste works???
Valarie went to work today (school) after all. I have no idea if she should have, but oh well.
I have all 4 kids here today as Henry did not have school.
]Some cute information. With Henry well, and Val & her DH sick Henry fed his sisters for 2 days.. (he is 1 month shy of 5 yrs old)
He fed them Toast with Butter and or Cheese sandwiches. he buttered the toast with a fork as he knew he was not supposed to use a knife. His daddy asked him how that worked out for him & he said not well. Val did manage to drag herself up and fed them soup for supper both nights. Henry is a good big brother....
I have chicken soup in the crock pot for in case Rod and I get sick.
Chicken soup is good unless you are at a stage with nothing staying down. I like water, green tea
You make me glad that I got my kids using knives and forks at an early age. I taught them to leave the sharp knives alone and to use a butter knife or table knife early. I also kept on hand peanut butter and other easy to fix things. I got the flu when my middle daughter was four. She did very well feeding herself things like eggs in the microwave and even fed her older brother and sister. Someone who was really hands on in the kitchen.
Yes you are right, Tina. But I thought I'd we were beginning to feel better in a day or so it would be nice to have that in the fridge as a back up. However we ate all of it but one bowl tonight.
There is peanut butter, jelly, and lunch meat all the time at Val's house. I think he was trying his best to feed them as good as he could although I think peanut butter and lunch meat would be right up there in that respect. Tonight Val was surprised when I told her he was making them cheese sandwiches as well as toast...she said well, so guess that is why all of my bread is gone.....
Your daughter sounds like she did a very good job. and at such an early age too. I bet her siblings were very happy she was there.
I am soon headed to sleep ....nite nite.
I was talking about the white supremacist attack in two mosques in New Zealand. They still have my prayers today.
I agree, Sheri. But I think most are not. It is just the mean ones that make the most noise.
Forgive me for not realizing. That was a horrible thing to have happened.
Sorry I have not been around. I have gotten the flu. Bless my grands for sharing.
I will bid you all a good night 🌙 now. Sweet Dreams.
Did your grands have the flu also, Carol? I mean did they have it before their parents or after you watched them the other day?
First, Henry got it, he got sick last Satuday while spending the night here. His parents had to come get him it was so bad. Then a few days later his sisters and his parents had it. Now is my turn...We are hoping that the stomach discomfort Rod had last Friday was not
greasy fish but a slight version of this flu. The kids are here 2 days a week. Then Henry is here for a couple of hours on those 2 nights. So they got it first. School is great good for that.
Why yes we had. We had ours in the first part of October and the kids had theirs a bit after that.......but the vaccines only last so long as I understand it. And perhaps we got " lucky" and found a strain that the shots did not cover....
Junie did you all get diagnosed with the flu? Any idea where the grands contracted it?
It sounds like your flu shots worked. They won't. Stop everything but the make what does come through much lighter, sort of. That would be my preferred way to get the flu. Sleep well all,
Gastro runs non stop in the schools and day care. I don't think the flu shot covers it.
Thanks, Tina. I hope you are right!
I think this came from poor Henry at his preschool.
He had a slight fever for 2 days but no symptoms. Said he felt good. So he more than likely contaminated his family. Then we kept the girls Wed. & Thurs. and all of them Saturday and Saturday night. The last day is when Henry finally got sick.
A tip. These new HG washers DO NOT get vomit out of comforters. I went to the local laundromat after the first washing but the 2 machines that were large enough were both in use. I came home and in the end after washing the comfort 3 times on the power wash cycle it was finally clean enough to put back on the bed. Mind you I said clean enough. It looks ok but I wonder.....
I tried to buy a regular machine but was told they were not sold any more. My machine at home may have been 25 years old, but I wish I had of kept it.
Gastro is a better word for it, I guess. But most people around call it flu. We used to say stomach flu but it's been shortened. And most times I am thinking people mean influenza "flu". We get lazy. And it all causes confusion.
I bought a top loader too . I found bending over to load and unload my 2 daughters side loaders hurts my back.
Mine has a huge drum. Lot of good that does me..and I even have an over-ride button so it will add 14 inches of water instead of 7 inches of water. What man thought that we could clean very many clothes in 7 inches of water ? I used the 14 inch option most of the time but still the clothes do not clean as well as I would like.
my DH says he thinks they wash so long because there is not much water..
I was not diagnosed (seen by a Dr.) with the flu but we all had it and we all think that is what it was. why
My washer has an over ride that fills the drum to the top Junie. Yet, that setting takes the longest to wash of all the cycles....it makes no sense.
Sorry for the impending snow storm.
Look at it this way Sunny. If it is "technically spring" here, your spring cannot be far behind.
It's noon and I haven't done anything. Still in my pajamas and can't seem to get motivated. Really I have done one thing - Shelley made me a pound cake and I've eaten a piece of it. We've had our grass cut twice already. We've had so much rain and then it gets warm a day or two and then the grass grows out of control. It's just crazy. It's been chilly, wet, and extremely windy the last 2 days. We didn't get any snow this year.
Today I put some photos in my room divider/photo holder. Then I put 2 updated photos in the kids wall frames. As soon as I get the pink photo matt's that I ordered today, I will finish prepping the triplets photos then Rod can hang all of them for me.
Getting my spring chores started ..perhaps I will be done with them by fall... lolI
I will say goodnight now..sleep well.
Are chores ever done? I'm still thinking about cleaning for spring (2012).
Sweet dreams all.
