Well I am all for Holidays . Perhaps this should become like Thanksgiving or Christmas. Families can get together and instead of anything else. They can have nice meals.

Going to take a nap now. wavy

I am bundled up. It's cold outside and in. I would bake something only my oven broke last night. Bummer. I will be replacing it.
At least we have a dry few days ahead. Wet cold is the worst kind.

I just had to replace my cook stove Tina...it is always something isn't it?

Junie, I thought there were certain varieties of cold syrups that one could take when they have heath problems as well. DH has to take Coricidin because of his high blood pressure.

Today is a clean and mop day...it is too cold to do anything else lol

It's a bummer when a favorite cold med is kicked off your list. I hated NyQuil when it first sprang up. It was hard to get past the taste/smell. But it saw me past the London flu back in the early 70s when I wanted to die. I can't imagine living without it now.
I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Hi all .

Been under the weather again. moved to Az and stayed ill I think. it's been crazy.. mostly a cold that will not go away, take meds and sleep so been asleep a lot! Finally feel almost normal but can not shake the cough... it is cold here today too, was about half an inch of snow this morning but it melted away quickly... supposed to rain or snow next few days...

I saw where you listed ages of kids and grands....kids 52, 48, 42.... and grands 29 down to 14, greats 7-2. they sure do multiply and age quickly. Wish I didn't !
Well I need to get busy and clean some while I feel half way decent... hubby went to visit inlaws…I need to eat some lunch and get busy cleaning up.. making chili for dinner with cornbread..

Nana

What was the London flu Tina...I have never heard of it.

Now flu is given letters or numbers, I think. But 40+ years ago it came with names from places where it was started. Sort of. I only remember the pain and the NyQuil of it really. Everything hurt, my eyelids when blinked, my eyeballs when they moved, my head my neck, my feet and each toe on my feet, etc.
The other influenza types that came through missed me, Hong Kong and Spanish and others. But London flu knocked me for a loop. It may have been the same flu from 1968, N1H2 Hong Kong flu but it was called the London flu by the local news in 1973.

It has rained most of the day and is in the forecast every day except 1 for the next 10 days. Does not do well with frizzy hair.

I can't take codeine or guiafenisen so I'm out of luck when it comes to a cough.

So sorry, Sheri.

Have you looked at Delsym ? It is a cough suppressant and it lasts for 12 hours. Comes in Grape and Orange. Go check it out. I had Heart attack and I am on blood pressure meds...so why not check it out ?

The best cough syrups are the old time 'pine tar' variety. Tastes like cr@p but works....and there are no 'meds' in them either.

Tina, that flu must have been twice as tough to deal with with children so young to look after.

I had planned to go to town today...but GG had a fever through the night and a croupy cough with it. It is supposed to storm again tomorrow...being an hour away from the bank, Walmart and the vets office really bites. I might have to leave her with my mom later...much to her dismay.

Well, I think leaving her with your mom is an excellent idea, esp since the weather will turn tomorrow. Plus it is good for the 2 of them to have time together.

About the pine tar cough syrup. There is one I like...Creomulsion ( I may have spelled it wtong) but the point is the Child version has an adult dosage on the label and it does not taste so bad, I like how it works better than the adult version.

ALso, has anyone tried Vicks in their feet ? It is reported to help a lot. You put it on the soles of your feet, and put socks on I believe, then I guess either lie down or do it at bedtime. I guess I should really look online.

I've used Vicks a lot on the kids...the baby vicks kind though. On feet and chest.

I ended up taking GG with me, I had no choice since she absolutely refused to go to my moms(not that I blame her either). We just went to the bank, the insurance place, Walmart and the vets office for some farm meds. It was a quick trip....but I did find GG a Fall jacket and a Winter jacket for next year on clearance for $7 each.

I took some Tylenol and when I felt better, I made Apple cinnamon muffins for the girls tomorrow, so my ST wakes up and says did you have a popcorn party ? Since I had nit, I offered to make some so I did. Then after cleaning up from that I finished watching my do so and now in a few I will read more of my current book.

Good night, see you all tomorrow. Sweet Dreams. wavy

Apple muffins sound good....I must make some soon.

Yes Junie, I always head to the clearance rack as soon as I walk into Walmart. I also got baby sleepers half price for a baby shower we are invited to next month.

Today I will do the usual clean and laundry routine...it is supposed to start snowing at any time. Thankfully it is only calling for six inches.

I don't know what to expect from our weather today. Thunder and lightning? Rain or snow? Sunshine and cold? It is all in the mix. The main theme is cold all day. My thermostat just kicked over to 40 for the first time today. It feels like weather roulette.

That is the kind of weather to make one sick Tina...keep warm.

I've had computer troubles the past few days...everything kept redirecting to 'Bing' which I hate. I had to take out Firefox and install Google. I hope it works...although I wish it had a decent bookmark toolbar. Any advice?

I hate Bing too Sunny and once in a while my computer directs to there. It's a worthless site in my opinion.

Junie I'm afraid to try other cough medicines since I've had allergic reactions with several.

Monday we had sleet, snow, and rain. Since then it's been rain only.

Wow, Winter has really hit for you all.

Did Teddy not want to join in the fun Tina?

Now GB has a fever, they sent him home from day care yesterday so I need to go pick him up this morning as soon as GG gets on the bus. Thankfully DD only goes in to work for 9 am. It is 'bug' season all around.

Junie, I run a small fan at night for the 'white noise'...if I did not, then I would never fall asleep.

I've got two coughing, phlemmy kids here....I'm going to drink some Lysol after lol

I have a sound machine for The girls. Perhaps I should use it when they are not here.

Later:

We are in the The basement to take " our" naps but Papaw said that we could go back upstairs. I told the girls if they wanted to stay down in the basement to take their nite-nite they would have to be quiet or we would go back up. Heidi is already asleep and the other 2 are whispering.

Very severe weather warning. We were hoping it would pass us by, but since it would be the kids nap time, we thought to put them down there for " in case". Nothing became of the weather. But the girls had a good time.........once they settled down.

We had supper here for Val's family. It turns out that Chicken-bacon-ranch pizza is pretty good. Tasted no chicken or ranch dressing. The bacon was sure there though. And lots of Mozarella cheese.

Kids are finally going home. Grandma needs a bath..

What strange weather Junie..I am glad all is safe.

It is nice to see you Cindy kissie How are things?

It is calling for another major snow storm after supper...we are supposed to get another two feet. I am running out of place to put the snow. I am so glad DH bought an old skid steer this Fall, it is almost 40 years old but it works great to move the snow around. I can keep it cleared enough around the house so that we are not as closed in as usual.

I wonder how Nana is doing...the news said that Arizona is getting some terrible weather.

Cindy ! Hello ! So very good to see you ! The kids really did not cause the me needing a bath. I was just due for one, and I hate getting up in the morning and going right to getting a bath. Very glad I could make you laugh ! (I do what I can) bow

I hope Nana is ok too !

Sunny, yay on having equipment to make your winter work easier. DH gets points.

Today is the girl's party. I am sure to enjoy seeing them have fun!

Well it was a nice party. They loved their big cup cakes. Each had their own color-coded cup cake, but really, they did not eat much. Heidi was the only one to smile when we sang "Happy Birthday" but they all enjoyed blowing out candles.
My unicorn pillows were a big hit. And honestly, the color-coded bags they were in were more of a hit.-----You can carry several of your gifts in the one bag, it is glorious........ Shirley ( the other Grandma) asked Cora where she was going when she began to walk off with her full unicorn bag hiked up on her shoulder.(like a shoulder bag)....Cora said "to Grandmas". We asked her which grandmas was she going to.....she said "the other Grandmas". Everyone laughed, but I knew what she meant. When I am talking to the girls, I refer to Brian's mom as "your other Grandma"....and no, I did not tell any of them what she meant. I may tell Valarie about that in case it happens again.
