That is a good question, Tina.....do you get snow very often. ?

Sorry for the freezing rain, esp. Since it is falling on top of the snow. So glad that you all get to stay in.

See it? Yes. Up higher on the mountains than I am. There are ski resorts within a few miles. I have to scrape snow off of my vehicle windows in order to see about once a year. And have enough to build a small snowman every few years. Have had it stick for more than a day once. I live at about 2000 feet above sea level. If it snows on the mountain today, I'll get it. Maybe.

Tina, the kids must love to see the snow when there is enough to build a snow man. Stay safe on the roads.

GG is off to school and I have to head out again in a few to try get the ice off my car....it's going to take more than the defrost heater in it. My scraper is about worn out...I have to get another one soon. There is another storm brewing for Friday.

Yesterday, I made banana muffins to warm my kitchen up. I pulled a cube of rock hard butter out of the fridge to soften but it wasn't softening. Too cold. So I opened the oven door and put it in a glass measuring cup to get it to room temps. Room temperature is relative when baking.

I love banana muffins.....bananas are the cheapest fruit we can buy here. It's a staple in many homes.

Hello. I have the girls today and tomorrow. The bad part of their sickness is gone, but they now have sore bottoms and are not in good humor for the most part.

Their mom is letting them have bread, crackers, bananas, Apple's and the occasional lunch meat or say scrambled eggs for protein.

Grandma is officially out of Bananas and only has 1 Apple left. I think it is time to send Grandpa to the store.....at least they are eating good.

Bananas are a must have for Teddy. There are very few fruits he eats because of texture issues. So we go through a lot of them.
Sweet dreams all.

Well bananas are very good fruits ! So good for Teddy.

The Wal-Mart here has mini bananas, medium bansnas, and regular bananas. The gir!d are very impressed with the small ones. Personally, I think they are too sweet.

Sweet dreams everyone !

The little ones are perhaps 2-1/2 to 3 inches long and are very sweet (to my notion) the medium ones are have 4 inches long and taste like regular bananas, then of course the regular ones. It is the novelty, plus it makes me smile to see the girls think they have something special.
I only saw the little ones perhaps two times back home, Here at the Wal-Mart anyway, they seem to be a regularly stocked item.

No school today, the rural roads are flooded.

And oh, good morning .

We are lucky enough to have regular bananas here...and only .99 cents a pound.

Just got back from GG's dentist appt. They done a check up and cleaning...she has a small cavity starting on a baby tooth. I have to wait for an appt. in July to fix it. touched

Tina: I guess the ground is high here but we ended up with a small leak in the unfinished area in the basement. Too many peop!e pour a basement then add waterlines & such....and then do not properly deal the opening that was made.

Thing is a bit to the north of the town we live in there is lower ground and it all floods when there is a lot of rain. Roads included. So the town my DD teaches in which is about 20 to 30 minutes to the north west is very low so several of the rural roads flood easily and flash flooding is a real concern. They have also cancelled school tomorrow.

We are supposed to get freezing weather beginning tonight and then continuing on & off until sometime Sunday...I think. I guess I should have gone grocery shopping today when Val & the kids left. Oh well..we will get by if we cannot get out.

Making oven BBQed chicken and onions & potatoes tonight for supper.

Johnny eats at least 1 banana every day. I don't eat them. It's a texture thing I think. Not sure when that changed for me because when I was younger I liked bananas and I can eat them in a bowl of Rice Krispies.

77° here today. Mosquitos are already out. Hope it gets cold again.

Sheri, Don't talk about mosquitoes yet. lol

I never got a chance to watch much news yesterday Junie, is the flooding bad? I seen something this morning about it for Illinois.

Keep warm Tina.

School is cancelled again today...it is snowing at the moment, turning to freezing rain for the rest of the day. We usually get this weather in January.

I do not think the flooding is real bad. I think the possibility for flash flooding is a real possibility, so the school thought to be safe. There is no school today either. But that may have a bit to do with the forecasted icy roads.( We did not get)...yes, the weather is far worse in IL. At least the amt. of snow they are getting is heavier than usual. At least they are equipped to treat the roads when they get it. They are not really ready for snow & such in this area.

Therapy today.

It turns out the roads were fine, the sun was shining and once again the weather man was "mistaken".

Watching some movie partially shot in Cape Girardeau.

Our sports program only has the children playing within a two hour drive against other schools. There is only a girls basketball team at the Junior high school and a hockey team at the high school. Our schools are so small that it is hard to form teams. Over the years they have lost the boys basketball team, the girls volley ball team and the girls hockey team...they now allow the few girls to play on the boys team.

We are under a wind advisory for today....and it is bad out there. DH just got called to work to clear drifting snow on the highway.

Tina, It's so strange...I don't know how you can deal with the heat where you live.

I fought the winds to go pick up Grand boy...if the power goes out then at least he'll be warm. The winds are supposed to get worse tonight with a severe wind chill. DH is still at work....I am glad to be nestled in my house(that is after I picked up the recycling can and all it's contents after the wind knocked it over) badday

Hello! I am glad you made it home with Grandboy. I hope he knows what a good Grammy you are. I guess you should have brought his Momma with you, huh ? While I know your DH's job needs to be done, I hope he gets home safe

I too think that Tina is lucky lady to live where she does. Of all of us, I think her weather is the mildest.

I have pretty good weather. It does get hot and humid in the summer but it doesn't last long. And when it gets cold in the winter that doesn't last long either. I like it. I think I would get cabin fever living where it snowed a lot. I'm a little bit claustrophobic.

I really do not know much of the weather here. So far I think the winter season lasts as long as back in Illinois, but the bad weather days do not seem to last as long at one time.
The summers are unbearable. to my notion, but it could have been a severe year. Time will tell.
ISheti, if we are trapped in the house in the cold, we do things like baking or special projects ( craft things for me) they help a lot. My mom would clean house and then cook special things for us to honour minds off of the bad wrather.
If power was out, we would all sit together and play games like " I am thinking of a color"....you know, games we could play just sitting around.

Good morning.

The winds are fierce and DH got called to work again. The snow just keeps blowing and filling in the roads....he said there were a few accidents last night. If it keeps up then GB will have another sleepover.

I hate winds with the bitter cold. It is hard to heat the house and many end up with chimney fires.

Good morning.

Sunny, sorry for the fierce winds. I am sorry for what troubles it is causing, but I bet G B will be happy to stay another night. I can remember at the farm, when we had such strong winds, we had to either stay in the kitchen or in the Lightroom keep warm, depending on which way the wind was blowing. Has not happened here yet, but then the outside of this house is brick. I am guessing that helps ?

Drinking my coffee now. I may have to make something to warm up the kitchen.

A brick house is great for insulating Junie...that would be a dream to have such a thing here. There are only a few brick houses in the area and they were built over 40 years ago.

The winds died down enough for me to take GB home. I'd have kept him another night but GG is starting to complain with a sore throat and has started to cough...so, here we go again crazy .

You know, U hate winter. If it is not the cold wearing everyone down, it is various germs going around making everyone sick. I got one will be so happy when spring/ summer gets here.
