Today I was rolling out my weed blocker on my garden and I was using up some really thin old stuff I had. Then I got an idea to use that as a cover for lettuce and cabbage. It is very thin and lets quite a bit of light through but not all. I bought some more today for that purpose. Has anyone tried this? I don't usually grow lettuce because it bolts so easily. :/

I'm in MN as well. If the fabric is black it will only heat up the soil more. Try thicker mulch or compost for mulch to keep the soil cooler and retain moisture. Another trick is to plant it in the shade part of the garden or on the north side of a building or row of raspberries..........you get the drift.
