I think the lion/lamb thing is only for March. But I could be wrong. It seems like your years all end up lions/lions, Sunny. I hope for lamb weather early for you and plentiful crops this summer.
Did you ever change out of your pjs, Carol?

Good Morn from snowy AZ..

I thought I moved out of this stuff.. it followed me! we got more last night, about 2 inches.. Milo is not a happy dog... he hates it too....LOL!
We have my autistic bil here for a couple days.. it's a challenge … he wants on my computer and I pad bad but as I do bills and stuff that's not going to happen... had Joe put a locking doorknob on my office.. he is very sneaky and can figure out passwords easily... Joe took him to the store with him, he loves to wander in stores and is fairly good about what he is allowed to have.. he is prediabetic so we have to keep a pretty close eye on what he can eat etc...

Well guess I better get busy and clean while they are gone.. need to mop kitchen floor and dust some... Christmas wont' be coming down today .. maybe tomorrow... LOL!

Have a good day all! HAPPY NEW Year!

Good afternoon. Her life is fun with the girls learning to use the "big girl potty". 2 of them are doing well, but one has no real clue...Well she has an idea in that just before she began to pre she began to take her big girl panties off ( out on the sun porch) then came into the bathroom where her 2 sisters were at, going potty, and she was all upset. Poor thing, her mind knows but her body just does not get it at all.

We do not take down our Christmas until Epiphany of sometimes after.

Wow, I can imagine potty training 3at a time. It must be difficult. Have fun, Carol.
Who cares for your bil the rest of the year, Sheri? Does he have access to a computer at home? He sounds like he is on a level with my Teddy. Ted has his iPad and parental controls are pretty good with that. It amuses him to go on YouTube kid friendly sites and choose his own stuff to watch. And I have it loaded with games and books for him. He is not so good with a mouse so the touch screen is just right for him.

The kids went home well after 5 pm. Today was the first day back to the usual routine. I think they were just really tired, they got up several hours earlier than they had all during Christmas break.

When they finally went to sleep, they slept until way after 5 pm.

I think you are right, Tina. About 10:30 "Papaw" thought they were acting like it was naptime. I was not going to try a morning nap, it would have probably messed up their bed time and thus then their waking time.....

I am going to bed as soon as the dryer is done.

Sweet Dreams

We can't get the one grandchild to use the potty...I can't imagine doing it with three.

I pads are doing amazing things for children with special needs. One little boy(Autistic) at GG's school can only communicate through it...it speaks for him. I've seen that little boy 'come out of his shell' in the past few months that he has attended school here.

It is still -30....it is supposed to warm up tomorrow, so it can snow lol

Yes, I've got several communication apps on Teddy's iPad. But he is not interested in using them. Even when I set up sentences for him. I had hoped to get him to say when something hurt for emergencies but.... It would be nice to know if he has a simple headache or is heading towards full-fledged appendicitis. I don't know. I have to figure things out. Like the morning he woke up and could not walk. And his knee looked funny. I took him into urgent care straight into the bone doctors.
The orthopedist said gave him a brace too large and pt for awhile. And also said his other knee was likely to go in another year or two. It went two years later. He has never run or jumped since his first knee went and climbing stairs is a trial. A lot of stopping and resting involved for one flight. I have a walker for him and a wheelchair. I am glad we live in a mostly single story area.

Can they not operate to fix his knees Tina? That must be so hard for both of you.

Yes I am so sorry for you and for Teddy, Tina. I hope you get something worked out that can and will help him.

The potty training is not going so well. With the one not ready it is a challenge. Today they all came in diapers. Val said when/if they asked to wear panties then let them---so soon Heidi and Cora were in Panties and Nora just asked for a new diaper every time she went to the bathroom, This could get expensive for Valarie.

WOW -30, Sunny-----I hope your house is VERY well insulated. Keep warm !

I will soon go to sleep, sweet dreams to all

There is surgeries for the ligaments and placing his kneecaps. They aren't sure it will work and will take a lot of pt afterwards. He is not happy with pt. They don't encourage that for him.
Sweet dreams all.

Ah k Tina, I understand now. I hope someday knee fixes will be an easier method so that they can be fixed for him as he ages kissie My uncle has been putting off his surgery because their house is all steps(split level). They regret building such a big house now that they are aging with health problems.

Junie, I have learned with GB that potty training is a no win situation. The pediatrician said that when he is ready he will go....at this rate, I can see him going to kindergarten is pull ups lol

My house is plenty insulated, We are always well in extreme cold...some neighbor's not so much. My SIL called, her best friend had frozen pipes yesterday...to the point of needing a 'blast heater' and plumber to fix the busted ones. $$$$$$$

They used to say, you know back when it could be said, that boys typically train later than girls. From what I saw with my grandsons, boys are often too busy playing & such to be bothered with the potty. It will happen.
Glad your house is well insulated, Sunny. You were wise to think ahead. My cousin and her husband as mindful of the weather as well when they built their house of there is a wall/ ceiling in their house, there is insulation in it. They have very low heating & cooling bills as a result, and no trouble with frozen water pipes.

Tina, sorry for the knee surgery situation. I too hope that the options will improve in time for Teddy.

Just now having breakfast. It is raining plenty here.

With boys it helps if they have a male adult show them how to use the facilities. My ex had a very closed door policy and my older son never saw a man use the toilet. We flew to Ca to visit and my mother showed him that he could stand. He never had another wet pair of pants, day or night.
Good morning. It's pizza day. Because Teddy loves cheese pizza.

Tina, DD had a friend with a little boy show GB how to use the potty...he still has no interest. He is a stubborn one that does things when he wants it seems.

Have fun Junie.

GB is going to be 4 in July...he has been behind in every stage of his development so far, but when he catches on he is off to the races. I hope the potty training will be the same.

I took GB home last night, laundry for today...and lots of other chores as well. The weather is getting a bit milder. Only -8*C for today.

Back from the store. We had coffee and cinnamon rolls in the stores Deli. I got a big bottle of Lime-away. All I can usually find is the spray bottles of it, and IMO it does not work so well. When I saw the squeeze bottle I Quick picked it up. It is the little things in life, huh ?

Val called Nd when the kids are awake, we are going on a girls shopping trip. Well, Henry will most likely be along too.

Good afternoon. I got the iPad because it was running out of charge and I charge it at my desk. When I get a new computer, I'll show Teddy it can be charged at the handy-dandy electrical socket in his room too. But until then....
I drew a simple boat shape on a single sheet of tp and floated it on the top of the toilet water. Then challenged my 3year old son to "sink the battleship". That worked for awhile, Sunny. For sitting on the toilet, it was more difficult because he was afraid of it, noises and such. That took another year and a promise of a big boy toy. He got a bike and some big boy freedoms.
Have fun girl shopping, Carol!

I had a nice time, Tina. I had Nora with me in my cart, & Val had Heidi & Cora. We went to Sam's Club...the girls had a wonderful time looking at everything, esp what was up high.

I am off to bed now. Sleep well everyone.

Is Sam's club a big store? I have heard of it but nothing like that is in our province.

Tina, the major potty training begins on Monday at day care. They say they will have him trained in two weeks....they do the cheerio in the bowl trick. Hit the cheerio and get a prize.

We are supposed to get a lingering snow storm from tomorrow into Wednesday. GG and I will head out to the local grocery and get a few items in a bit. We are out of fruit(fresh and frozen) frown

Sam's club is a warehouse type of store and is owed by Wal-Mart ( Sam Walton) but you have to buy a card to shop there. It renews every year. My DD is a member, so I get to shop on her card. I do not have a lot of extra storage, so I do not buy a lot of things there. You can buy clothes like You would anywhere else though.

Home from Church....we are going to take down Christmas today.

You'd need plenty of storage to buy in bulk from a store such as that.

The storm has changed to Tuesday into Thursday. There is no school tomorrow due to meetings so I think GG and I will make our monthly Walmart run. Mondays are always the quieter day to go shopping.

Cheerio in the bowl is good. I rarely had Cheerios around though. Want to place odds on two weeks, Sunny?
I have never been to Sam's, Carol. I had a Costco card until about at year ago but used it rarely. I love my restaurant supply store.
Today will be a quick trip to buy gas and some bread. Sounds exhausting! smile

Morning. This waking up to use the bathroom and then not being able to go back to sleep has got to stop. Junie is tired. I am hoping coffee will fix that .

I will do my Christmas taking down that did not get accomplished yesterday.

I won't take that bet Tina...I'll lose lol He already told us that he is not going to 'tay care' today with his 'underwears'.

The wind is blowing fiercely this morning. I hope it dies down so I can head out later and buy the monthly supplies....I'll be storm stuck for a few days with the incoming storm.

Have fun shopping, Sunny. And stay safe this week.
And you have fun too, Carol. Do you have a basement for storing your Christmas stuff away in?

Oh yes a full basement with 9++ sq. Ft finished and 1 large store room, one smaller one that Rod has turned into a man cave, and a yet smaller one under our stairs where we keep our empty Rubbermaid containers. So I have room to store my Christmas.

Junie, your basement alone is bigger than my whole house lol

I got to Walmart...only to find that most everything in the flyer was sold out. I guess you have to go as soon as the sale hits to get the deals. Oh well, we hit a few stores to try get some deals to stock the pantry...it was on the empty mark.

I even treated myself to a new mop bucket...that has an insert to help wring out the mop when you twist it. I think I'm really going to like keeping my hands out of the water. grin

That sounds like a good buy. Let me know what you think. I am currently using a swifter type of mop that you put your own cleaner in. I am not convinced it does a good enough job.

I have a swiffer mop also, Carol. I don't feel like the floors are properly cleaned with them either. They are great for fast cleanups, though. A between mopping kind of thing.

I was reading about the potty training extravaganza. Everyone around here was easy to train, they sort of started on their own, but they wanted to go to the bathroom every where we went over and over again. Times that by 3 and it's going to be something.

We have a Sams card but I rarely shop there. I've bought bedroom slippers twice there because they're half the price in the regular store and we may end up getting a new TV there because one of ours is on it's last legs. I don't buy groceries in bulk.

We have a walk in attic that's about 24 x 12 where we keep our Christmas decorations. Sunny, where do you keep yours? I really like a walk in attic. I've had 2 friends in the last 6 or 7 years fall out of an attic and one of them died.

Yes, I agree about the potty training X 3. Esp. Since one's body is not ready. And yes, all we would be doing is finding bathrooms.

We had an attic when we lived in the farm. (1980 to ,2004.)
It was a room off of my landing area in our upstairs. I much prefer it to a basement storage area.

That was then, this is now. Here the attic has a.wooden drop down ladder to get to it..as did the new home.(2004 - 2018) I was never able to go up into the new house, and I will not be going up into this attic. Oh well. Thank goodness I have a store room in the basement.
Update:
It is now 11:10. Goodnight to everyone. Sweet Dreams.

Soup is on it's last hour of cooking. When the veggies are done and the barley is done, it is soup.
The beef is in the crock pot so I can make a stir fry tonight. Now it is time for my Christmas and my soap.

Hi all.

Sheri, I keep my Christmas items in totes(wrapped in bags first)in my garden shed...on a high shelf. I have no indoor storage for items such as that.
Tina, I agree...those mops are good for quick wipes but not a deep clean.
Junie, the bucket is great...but I need to buy the 'Vileda' fabric mop that matches. My yarn type mop is a bit too thick to fit in perfectly.

School is cancelled today...we are getting a big snow storm. In fact I am going to tell you a funny story. I get up this morning to this warning on the weather channel for us~
4:52 AM AST Wednesday 09 January 2019
Winter storm warning for Chaleur Region

Hazardous winter conditions are expected. Heavy snowfall expected today and tonight. Snow combined with very strong easterly winds this afternoon and evening will give extensive blowing and drifting snow.

Periods of snow will intensify this morning and become heavy at times as the system approaches. Accumulating snow will continue tonight into Thursday morning as this slow moving system tracks across the province. In addition, very strong easterly winds gusting up to 90 km/h are expected to develop this afternoon and persist into the evening before diminishing overnight. These winds will combine with the snow to give poor visibility in blowing snow and could lead to isolated power outages.

Total snowfall accumulation of 40 cm is expected.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to NBstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #NBStorm.

O.k. as you can see, we are getting a major 'stay home' storm. I get a call after 6 am from my Uncle(who is schizophrenic)wanting to know if I can take him to the store for some chocolate bars at lunch time. zoink

Hi all, My BIL lives in a house next door to another BIL and his wife, he is pretty self sufficient , cleans and makes his ready to cook meals in his microwave... he does have and aide that comes in every day and supervises house work and makes him take a walk every day and converse with her, he isn't much of a talker but will if you insist... he likes to watch all the old westerns on tv and will repeat those for hours if allowed to.. their Mom did everything for him growing up and insisted he just couldn't learn how to do anything on his own,,, well she went into nursing home and he became much more "able" when he had to.... funny how that worked..

Bobby is very gifted in art and playing music too... and is a savant about knowing who and what actor is in his shows he likes... he does have a computer at home and has an I pad to , but putting controls on one for him just doesn't work.. he can figure it out and bypass any we can come up with... he has had many discussions and about appropriate sites and knows his history will be checked often.. and sil has found a program that alerts her if he goes to the sites he shouldn't...

Well off to clean up my closet again.. it's become the dumping ground for the where should I put this stuff...
Nana

I never frost chocolate cake. With cupcakes I put about one and a half teaspoons of sweetened cream cheese with chocolate chips on top of the dough before baking. It ends up inside the cupcakes like filling. I also like chocolate cake hot with butter. I left these cupcakes plain.

Mmmm, cream cheese anything is delicious. Tina, I have done that with brownies but never thought to do that with cake...I must try that with carrot cake.

Junie, it's just one cup of graham crumbs mixed with a few tsp of melted butter and pressed in a pan, bake for 5 min at 350*. Let cool, make one package of whipped cream(I use the powdered because it is cheaper) and put aside. Whip one package of cream cheese, 3/4 cup of white sugar and mix well. Add half of the whipped cream to this mix and whip smooth. Put slices of banana on top of cooled graham crust, pour cream cheese mix on top, put more banana slices on top then cover with remaining whipped cream. Put in fridge for 24 hours for a strong banana flavor through out. It's one of our favorite desserts here.

I'm making some cold pasta salad at the moment, I have to go pick up GB at day care in a few hours...he needs a sleepover. lol

Hi, Tina. I had the girls today until after Lunch. Then we took them to their other Grandma's so I could go to the Drs. They were so cute..when we got there, Shirley (the other grandma) came out to meet us. Cora runs up to her and said "I have 2 Grandmas.....". LOL

Valarie got dismissed at 2 pm, so she was home before it got bad. We got home at 4 and that was not a moment too soon. They had video of the local roads just now, and they are a mess. Temps are supposed to get up to just above freezing tomorrow, so that will be good. Muddy, but hey, no ice or snow .so yay !

Now I will hope they are correct in their forecast.

We got some snow, but you can see blades of grass thru the snow. Since they were expecting it to be worse, I am assuming the roads were treated well enough that they should be ok too.

We are going over to Valarie's today. They are testing their bathroom out. They have someone hired to redo their tub/shower area.

I hope the mess clears up soon Junie.

Bathroom renos have to be one of the worst ones to deal with. I still remember tearing apart two doors, and a part of the hallway to get our new tub/shower combo in place....only to have DD drop a bottle of shampoo and crack the bottom of it a few months later. crazy

One of our neighbors passed away, he was 73 and sickly....but it is also a loss to our small group of hobby farmers in our small area.

So sorry for your loss, Sunny.

Valarie is keeping her o!d tub as it is the old cast iron (?)

It just will have a new wrap around shower area a new water safe light and the wall will be insulated, and reinforced so they can put grip bars in later.I

It rained off & on all day. Next to no snow left but it is set and yucci outside.

Thanks all. We were invited to a 'life celebration' today....I am really liking this new way of dealing with death over the sombre funeral's of the past.

Those cast iron tubs are beautiful...and hold the heat for a long, warm soak.

I'll be gone for most of the day...have a good one.

I prover celebrations over the other options myself. Some sadness is allowed but it is mostly happy people were here to share themselves. A healthier feeling to my mind.

Sure you can. You might want to leave a few blankets by the door so everyone will be warm while living out in the barn though.

Tina, you need to grow some orange trees in your yard...oranges are $1 a piece in the stores here. I figure we could tag team together and make a fortune lol

I have an orange tree, sunny. A navel orange that only fruits in winter. And I have a lemon that produces pretty much all year except in Aug and even then has flowers and green fruit. Most of my fruit trees have succomed to climate change. And over half of my other trees as well. My yard is sad.
