I have never had a meat pie, you have my tummy grumbling... That sounds yummy!

I'd like a meat pie too please.

Rained all day AGAIN. Where was this when my garden was drying up?

Johnny's brother in law had a stroke last night and died. I'm trying to be nice to Johnny today :)

I am so sorry for the loss in your family Sheri...deaths around holidays are twice as sad I think.

It is snowing, a fluffy pretty kind. Although DH probably doesn't think so....he got called out at 4 a.m.

I have 150 egg, taco, donair and pizza rolls to make today. luv

I wonder about these things, Sunny. Do you just have these at your house for family and friends? Or do you prepare them to take to others? Are your meat pies little like pot pies or bigger like 8-10 inch pies? Do you freeze everything until needed? Are things fried or baked? Frozen before cooked?
I am nosy!
Sweet dreams all.

Tina, the meat pies are deep dish, 10 inch pies. They are frozen and baked when we want them for a meal. They are really called a 'Tourtiere' ...a traditional meal served after the Christmas mass on Christmas eve or for breakfast the day of. The rolls(just like you'd buy at a Chinese restaurant) are all deep fried then frozen in bags. I make cabbage egg rolls, pizza rolls, taco rolls and donair rolls. I give some to DD and my mother...and feed those who visit during the holidays. I have sweets to make this week as well...I make trays to give out to a few family members also. I am trying hard to keep my late grandmother' traditions alive.

We are going today to DD's to decorate her tree, visit Santa for a treat...then I'll take the kids at the end of day to the coffee shop for a sweet and hot chocolate. grin

Thanks so much for answering my nosiness, Sunny. I looked up donair rolls last night and got a craving. All different kinds popped up. I love food. I love cooking ahead.
Your plans for the day sounds wonderful.

No problem Tina...I like learning of new foods as well. Donairs are delicious...I make my own meat and sauce.

Well, the kids decorated the tree, got a treat from Santa(he arrived on a fire truck trading treats for canned items for the local food bank) and then got their sweet and milk....apparently my grands don't like hot chocolate. That's o.k. because their Grammie does lol

I burned my mouth once with hot chocolate when I was little. And didn't have any more for years. I still only like drinks warm, not hot.
Do your grands like cold chocolate milk, Sunny?

I like Hot Cjocolate. When my sister and I were in upper grade school, we often had to walk home from school as my mom was working afternoons. In the winter we were often so cold from the wall that we made got chocolate and buttered toast just to warm us up. Drinking hot chocolate still reminds me of those times.

Tina, my grandson will drink chocolate milk but not GG. She does not like chocolate....I don't think we are really related lol

Hot chocolate is a comfort food for me as well Junie, I have fond memories of it with all the outdoor activities we did as children. It is a staple here for sliding parties and such.

They are calling for 6 to 8 inches of snow by tonight...only to start later in the day though so school was not cancelled.

Good Morning ,

Came in to do my bills as it is payday... credit union hasn't updated to show deposit is made so guess I will play here for a while and see if it updates soon... if it wasn't such a big project to change credit unions and banking info I would change .. this one is very slow about everything...

Hubby had his eye surgery and it came out well, he looks like someone hit him in his eye very bloodshot, but his vision is only slightly blurry so they said he is safe to drive... he will have to get new glasses after first of yr though so that will be added to budget , for me as well... always something..

We sent off our Christmas pkgs and cards to kids and grands, birthday for Derek too... how can he be 16 already? really wish they would stay little but guess time marches on …. grocery shopped yesterday too, got Christmas dinner fixens, small turkey, smallest I have every done... so hope I can figure out how to cook it... LOL!

Well guess I could clean up this office while I am waiting for accts to update... always last room to get done.. you would think I hated filing and putting stuff away... LOL!

Have a good day all,

Nana

Morning Tina....

thanks for the vote of confidence in cooking the small turkey... it's been awhile since I really cooked.. but figure I can do most of the Christmas dinner ahead and rewarm it for the day... staying on my feet for very long is still a challenge, ankle just does not like me standing some days... but will manage and we do have an island I can sit at if I have to... just doesn't come naturally to sit and do meal prep stuff... relearning is not always easy...

Well gotta clean this office up … been playing instead.... LOL!

Ginger is coming for Christmas this weekend. What can I cook? No one likes turkey. Shelley's family doesn't like ham. Seems like I fix a roast every time they come so I'm trying to think of something else.

Have an Italian meal. Lasagna is easy..as is just Spaghetti, Then a salad and some type of dinner rolls. Make a dessert or 2 that you can make up the day before---(a batch or 2 of cookies???)

stiffed cantaloni is easy too. I have a good salad recipe I could give you if you like.

If you would like to make it easier, make sloppy Joes or BBQ Beef get some buns & make cheesy potatoes to go with,,,or company potatoes (Both casseroles)

In my family we get together the weekend after Thanksgiving---so we always have an Italian meal of some kind then it goes over well.
Let us know what you decide, Sheri.

I am headed to bed sweet Dreams

You could go Mexican and do enchiladas or something. (I love tamales but good ones are kind of pricy). Salsa on the side. Serve with some light Spanish rice and retried beans and a salad. Follow it up with a favorite dessert. This is my go-to when feeding a crowd.
Sweet dreams all.

I always do Chinese food when feeding a crowd for family functions. Although, turkey is the staple here for Christmas. I have never eaten tamales...but they do look good on television. lol

School has been cancelled and GG's concert is put off until tomorrow. I sure have a mess of snow to tackle out there this morning....the roofs need a pass as well later this week.

Morning ,

All of those sound good to me, my daughter's inlaws are Italian and they do the lasagna and spaghetti for Christmas Eve... some people do fish too... we usually do a shrimp tray and I make a hot crockpot soup too... with lots of crusty bread...

Well off to get ready to go to store, going to look at tile for living room, family room and halls... will do carpet for bedrooms... and office... think tile will be wood look , easy to maintain and sweep dog hair from... I like easy the older I get...LOL!

Have a good day all... left some hot pocket type rolls in kitchen... and iced tea, hot teas and coffee too... enjoy!
