Sherri, sounds like you've got a real treasure in that wall hanging. Can you post a picture? I so wish my step dad would wear his hearing aids. He says they bother him but it bothers every one when he's trying to be part of the conversation and can't hear.

Sunny did you get your tree? We're expecting snow and it's been a BIG extravaganza on the news. Schools are already closed for Monday and Tuesday. Churches are closed tomorrow. We have yet to see the first flake :) It's been raining all day which the weatherman says is going to make the snow worse. Not sure why but that's what they keep saying.

Junie it is nice when your grans are so sweet and well behaved. There used to be a family with 3 little stair step boys, who came to church every Sunday dressed in nice shirts with bow ties, and they sat on the pew with their mother and dad and were so well behaved and cute. I often told the boys how grown up they acted and commented to their parents. People did and still do comment about how nice Darbi and Colby are. Not so much Aubry or Colt.

Sheri: Thanks so much about grands--these 4 are quiet and well behaved, when out anyway.
The 3 of 4 in Virginia are another story. They are manageable if their Momma & Dad are not around BUT the moment they walk in they are monsters. and I know their Momma makes them mind---oh well (the 4th is just 2 months old so far so....)

Even I heard you were going to get snow-0we can hope they are wrong. and it is possible the mess we were supposed to get here never happened either.

I hope you are all avoiding that bad storm in the South.

Sheri, we got our tree but we did not get to cut it. It was so cold and the man that owns the tree place put a stop to cutting your own, and put up his prices...so we left there and bought one at another tree farm. We put it up this morning. GB was just throwing the plastic balls at the tree and hoping they got caught on the branch. It was so funny, my mother was here and livid about it.

That's funny, Sunny. I think I've had a toddler that tried that. Of course I didn't allow it and taught them how to hang things. But I didn't get angry about it either. It's all one continuous learning experience.

Junie, Colt isn't such a handful with me anymore but is a bit worse when his mother is around. I think he's considered well behaved these days; his teacher says he's an angel in class and the music teacher loves him so I'm guessing he's better for strangers.

Many moons ago I took care of a little boy for an afternoon for a friend and he took every ornament that he could reach off my tree - one at a time when I wasn't watching. He was in the den and I was in and out cleaning and cooking and such and I wondered why he didn't want to come in the kitchen with me or play in Ginger's room where the toys were. It took a while to notice that ornaments were missing. None of them were breakable so I pretended I didn't notice and let him continue until they were all off. Kept him occupied all afternoon. By the time his mother returned the bottom half of the tree was undecorated.

We only got rain last night and today but Charlotte is a mess. Trees down, power out, roads bad.

How Colt is is how my 3 Grandsons are. Out in public they are very well behaved. as far as I know they are good in school as well.
The oldest has just been put in a gifted program so I guess there are no issues at school.

IMHO: I think ALL kids that are taught well at home are better for strangers. It is just that kids will be kids when they are at home with their siblings and parents...Perhaps that is how it should be.

Glad the horrid weather missed you.

goodnight everyone sweet dreams

Kids are spoiled these days...and with the new 'no hands on' discipline, they have no fear. If I would have even pulled half of what my grands did....I'd not be able to sit for a week. I fear what is ahead for the future with them all.

I pray the storm damage is short lived for you all. They are broadcasting it on the news here...it certainly is a mess if you are not used to getting storms such as that. Do they even get snow in Texas any other time?

Colt is 7 and I'm convinced if he was in a public school with 28 students in one classroom his earlier teachers would have been begging his parents to put him on ADHD meds. He just could not be still even if he tried. I grabbed both his arms one time and told him to STOP IT and he looked me dead in the eyes and said "I can't GiGi" and I could see he was telling the truth. But as he's gotten older he's more able to control himself. I'm glad he wasn't medicated. As a school nurse I saw too many kids on medication to pacify a teacher or a parent. In most cases I'm against medicating children but for a few it does make their life bearable for them and for the teachers. To me it was a mistake to make it a disability that is compensated with money to the parents. Why do the parents needs money because their child is ADHD. These children can get Medicaid that pays for doctors visits and medication so there is no out of pocket to the parent. Off my soapbox.

It's been snowing here but I can't imagine it will stick because it's so wet. Trees are down all over surrounding areas but so far we've been missed with this mess.

It does snow in Tx almost every year. Just not everywhere. Like where I live in a desert-y part of SoCal. Our mountains see snow most winters and skiing is done. And the cold moves down the mountains and chills my toes and nose.

My one SIL was on meds when he was young. I think often how his middle boy would benefit from them but of course he will never be on them. The good news is "Daddy" is a very well adjusted high functioning member of society now, so all should be good with the boys by the time they grow up.

Junie, Yay for the decorated tree....the kids must have loved it.

I did not get my 'me' day after all. I did end up cooking my meat for my meat pies though...I'll make the pie crusts after lunch to finish them. I am volunteering this morning at the skating rink for the GG's school skating party.

I hope those larders got stocked well Tina.

Good Morning, Everyone.

Sunny, have fun at the skating rink. Christmas is the best time of year, to my notion anyway.

It is raining here. Perhaps we are far enough south that we will get more rain tbatsnow. Does 1 inch of rain = 1 foot of snow, you know If the rain were snow instead ? Does anyone know ? I guess I should Google it.

Meat pies are made.

Here 1 inch of rain equals 10 inches of snow. I heard it depends on where you live... idea

What exactly is a meat pie? Just what it sounds like? Meat in a crust? And what is a minced meat pie? Meat chopped finely? I've had something called hamburger pie and it was cooked hamburger in a pie crust. I liked it.

We had 2 inches of rain in my rain gauge after our storm Saturday. Glad we didn't have the snow because it was a lot for around here.

Come on over Tina.

Meat pies are 5 parts cooked shredded beef roast to 3 parts shredded pork roast, with added onions, salt and pepper. You add beef broth to keep it moist and bake it in a pie crust...top and bottom. It is a Christmas tradition here.

GG's school turkey dinner today.

Now, I really want meat pies.
Good morning. No special plans here.
