Hello. finally I am here.
Tina, I have the girls all week, so Shirley can recover from whatever foot surgery she had. Val pretends she Jonesboro g much about it.

Nana: thanks so much for the well wishes. I am glad that you had a good trip and that you are home safe. I will say if I would get I to a tub of shower about every 2 hours, I would be doing better. But who can do that?

Sunny: My legs while a bit better, I am not not up to chasing toddlers. It is a good thing that they are well behaved......for 2-1/2 years old.

Well, it is storming again....school is cancelled. We had no power from 4 am until 11 am. I am thankful for my wood heat...now if I could only convince someone to shovel my snow lol

Man just the thought of shoveling snow tires me out. I'm old. When I was young I'd help a couple of my neighbors out with shoveling when I lived in Rochester, NY.
I woke with a cold. No shoveling one-handed with my other hand holding tissues to my face.

Tina, you have really lived in extremely different climates...which was your favorite?

The snow is so wet that I broke another shovel....they sure don't make them like they used to. I am hoping Santa brings me a new scoop and shovel this year...or DH can have the job haha

Good afternoon. The girls are in bed. Rod just went to Menards and Wal-Mart. I wish I was married to the type of man that I could send to buy a Christmas tree and he woukd, not to mention the tree that he came back with would be fantastic. Oh well.

My Christmas gift from Emily came today. It was "wrapped". You know in an Amazon bag...but hey the bag was pretty. I was hoping it was a new cell phone, but the pkg is too big...oh well.

Your Christmas is coming together, Carol.
Sunny, I was born and raised about ten miles away from here for the most part. I grew up and moved to Connecticut and NY for a few years. Then moved back to California. Besides my home town, I have lived several places in Cal. Of all those places, this is home and I will probably die here. Besides at the rates of things, I don't think I could afford to move.

Gracious Sunny, I vote you do not get a new scoop and shovel this year. THEN your DH can have a new job !

Washing clothes tonight. And watching a Christmas movie.

Tina, I hope you feel better this morning...and yes, home is home.

Junie, DH doesn't have time to shovel...between living at work in this weather and the barn work...it's a fight just to get a few hours of sleep at times. At least I don't have to shovel the roofs every storm anymore.

We ended up with milder weather and only half the snow it called for last night. I am glad, I have a meeting at GG's school after lunch.

Sunny, bet Santa doesn't get many requests for shovels :) I'm trying to finish up Christmas decorating. I just can't seem to get it done. I put Colt's John Deere Gator on a FB yardsale and got 100 messages right away. It sold and was picked up in a hour.

Someone is going to have a nice Christmas because of you, Sheri.

G'nite to you all.

Feel better soon Tina kissie

I have started decorating also Sheri....very slowly though. We take out a few things each day..it adds to the excitement for the grands that way. That stupid 'elf on the shelf' is supposed to make his first appearance of the season in the morning...and the kids will start their chocolate advent calendar as well then.

Dh took home half of our butchered pig last night...the rest will arrive tonight. It gives me a chance to freeze it better with two deliveries. I was surprised to learn we have 200 pounds of pork...sad part is I still have one at the barn with no room for the meat. I'll have to decide to keep her or sell her.

Sunny, how long will that much pork last your family? Wondering if you can wait about selling the other pig until you need meat or is it the older the pig the tougher the meat. Do you regret starting the elf. I think both of my girls are sick of it at this point but once you start it how do you stop it.

I've never used a FB yard sale but it's an amazing thing. I put the other car and it's sold too. He couldn't ride either of these this summer but I had a hard time getting rid of them for some reason.

Tina I've either had a cold or for some strange reason allergies have flared up. The only allergen I think it would be in the winter is mold because of the amount of rain we've had but sadly that's not your situation.

I'll give pork to my mom and DD but it will still last at least 8 months or so. Pigs keep well for a couple of years so we could wait, we could also breed her this spring with a neighbours pig....or just sell her. It will depend on how hard of a Winter we get....pig feed is not cheap either.

I regretted starting the elf after the first week. It's not the real elf....just a cheaper knock off that I found at the local pharmacy. You know, on the day I was told that the elf was supposed to come that night. haha I blame it on the school because they started it...they have one there.

Heading out to pick up GB for a sleepover.

Is any of your pork processed, Sunny? Do you get hams and bacon? I went in with a neighbor on a half pig once. I loved it. But I'm the only one who loves it here so less gets eaten now.

Tina, no...I'd be scared to know the price to smoke process bacon and ham. It was just cut into strip bacon, chops, ribs, hocks and roasts. I cut a third of the roasts into stew meat myself last night. It is a new butcher we used....and he never made my ground pork or stew meat we asked for. That's what we get for using a friend of a friend....he just set up this butcher shop this Fall. I'll not use him again...we paid more than enough that we should have got what we asked for.

The kids are making play-doh ginger bread cookies at the moment....Christmas baking at it's finest lol

Sorry about your incorrect meat prep Sunny. Can you bring your own pork ? Back when TH deer hunt the butcher we had to switch to when ours closed up shop would never add far to our ground deer, so we had to do that ourselves. Since it was already portioned and frozen I just bought plain ground pork and added that to each pound of deer when I cooked it.

Play dough gingerbread cookies..yum! But hey at least they are occupied.

I was all set to make banana bread..2 loaves, and nope no flour..none. I will see if DH will go shopping for me this afternoon. He is busy just now..

Morning Happy December

Just finished doing the end of yr budget... at least for next few months till hubby is on medicare then it will change again... but getting his soc sec now helps a lot... less we need out of our savings.. We are going to start decorating today, got to put reg stuff away and set up tree and village .. have another stand in living room so will make setting up village easier... won't have to sit on floor to do it.

Well have to go start another laundry load, then start putting away stuff and dusting, then hit Hobby Lobby for some snow fabric for the shelves … gotta have the look of snow.. even in the desert!

Have a good day all.... left a plate of banana bread , teas and coffee in the kitchen for snack time.... last one in start the dishwasher! LOL!

Nana
