Good morning.

Sorry for the storming, Sunny.

I made a box cake yesterday for my DH. I said to beat it for 4 minutes. it sure made more cake mix that way, but it was so crumbly that it almost takes a spoon to eat....I am sure that was because of the excessive beating.

Oh, I hope your power sticks.
I woke at 4am with a headache. But it is gone now with meds. I'm going to feed my boy and then nap. I'm so glad he allows me to do that.

Yes, headaches are tiring.

The snow had turned to rain...now it is turning to freezing rain. I'd rather the snow.

Yes I am sure you would rather the snow. I hate ice....

Such a nice quiet Sunday afternoon. Every day should be like this.

That's good to hear.

DH is home today so we are Winterizing things around the farm. I have everything 'Winter ready' around the house thumbup ....well, except I broke my shovel yesterday with the heavy snow.

I am searching online at the moment for an idea to weld together a heavy duty Christmas tree stand....the store bought ones never last.

If you re talking a real tree, my dad would nail 2, 2 x 4's into an x then somehow he attached the trunk to the x then there was a place for water for the fresh cut bottom of the trunk of the tree,

So many things are not meant to last, planned obsolescence. I have used a buck full of dirt for my last few trees. A metal bucket that I can use after for my hot ashes.. It works for me.

I kept the screws from the old tree stand...I want to weld a pipe to a base to make a sturdy stand. I found a few pics....now to convince DH to let me use the welder.

I keep trying to upload pics from my phone to this computer,,,to share with you...but it says that my 'USB is not supported' why

It's my grandma's recipe:

2 cups light brown sugar
2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1 can evaporated milk

Boil for 18 minutes, remove from heat, add 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tbsp cold butter....then add 1/2 cup peanuts. Leave cool for 10 minutes, then beat by hand for two minutes and pour in pan.

Nope, no chocolate....it is an old 'penuche' recipe.

My chocolate fudge calls for condensed milk instead.

I only had 21 kids at the door...DH will be eating lots of leftover treats.

I love fudge, we generally make it with condensed milk.

Halloween was a long night; 5 gallon bags full of candy after walking 5mi with Trey, and the mall with Aubree...

It must be lovely to have Halloween where the weather is mild. It is too cold here for kids to walk far so it's a drive and wait deal.

I am so excited for the first Christmas craft fair in the area tomorrow. I enjoy talking with the elderly ladies so much...and seeing the crochet and knitting they have done all year. grin

Halloween. I knew I was in trouble when I say a Hayride full of trick or treaters on my road. I had around 120 and had to turn the light off at 7 pm. Kids still came for awhile even with my light off.

Craft fairs...how I am going to miss them. I do so hope my DD appreciates us being here.

I get to go to Wal-Mart today. And DH will be with, so not as much fun as it sounds.

Several years ago i we had a Halloween flood; raining is about as bad of weather as we get... Though we've had a few twisters touch down in recent years (previously was a noon issue in the Willamette Valley).

Trey and I stop trick or treating at 9p then walk home; we left Aubree at my place with my mom after we went to the mall, and when we got back my mom said that despite having the porch lights off we still had at least 30 people ring the doorbell...

The craft fairs here are held by local churches and Legion halls....ask around Carol, there has to be some.

I think the most kids we ever had here was around 80....that was many years ago. There are so many less children now...as we can tell by the three closed local schools. We are down to one school that is in danger of closing since we are down to 89 kids there.
