Welcome. I wish I could change my home as easily as creating a new coffeehouse. I would never have to clean again

lol so true.

I have been busy painting...today is a clean the mess day. I just need to paint and cut some trim moulding and then I will be done. I have been also battling a chest infection at the same time and it is kicking my butt.

I am supposed to volunteer at GG's school this afternoon for the Terry Fox Cancer walk. I could sure use someone to go get groceries for me grin

That would be wonderful, I agree with you ladies completely.

Gee, Sunny if you find someone to get your groceries, have them stop by for my list please.

And if they would, they could pick up some colored ribbon( one of each pink, aqua and purple) for me please. 3-4 inches wide.. I need to trim 3 receiving blankets.

Sunny what are you painting?

We have a crack in the tile floor in one of the bathrooms. I watched a YouTube video about fixing it with nail polish but of course it didn"t work for me .

The wind from the hurricane has never totally gone away. Its like living at the ocean.

I painted the kitchen, dining and living room plus the hallway. I did a lighter color on the top wall and ceiling and a darker color on the bottom...so I have to put up a white trim to make a line between the two.

I ran errands for Dh and my mom all day.

Sure, but I'll have to put you on my list. The roofers are here at the moment. It will be a busy day but one that has been wanted for a few years grin

DH said he never seen someone so happy 'to be broke' from the bill...I told him that it's not having the worry of a leak is what has me happy.

Yes, I can understand that. The one thing that has me happiest about our house now is that it supposedly has a 50 year roof..and it is on!y like 7 years old right now. I too like not worrying about leaks and such.

I guess it is an errands kind of day here too. DH had said we were going to go grocery shopping to Wal-Mart today. I knew he did not mean it.

Have a fun day out...if you get to go.

I am so sick, it isn't funny. I guess tomorrow I will absolutely have to go to the clinic...whether I like it or not. My puffer is empty and my lungs are full.

The roofing is going good. One guy is mute. It absolutely amazes me how he communicates with the others...a few hand signals and a whistle to get his message through.

That so reminds me of Teddy's way of communicating. You know exactly what he needs and wants most of the time.
I hope you get better quickly, Sunny.

glad your roofs are done. Sounds like the roofing got done just in time.

Valarie and I went to Wal-Mart today I spent so much money---but it was a good time---NO DH, so I got my groceries and I got to look at stuff.

and OH..I bought 3 shirts in the girls colors...a start on Christmas.

G'day all. I hope everyone is having a pleasant Sunday.
It is October tomorrow. We are to get rain on Tuesday. This is both a blessing and a curse depending on how much and where it falls. I am hoping for the best.

I hope you get your rain Tina.

I have an earache today so I still never dug the potatoes. There was no doctor at the walk in clinic today...I am glad I called first. Maybe tomorrow....it seems every time I get sick now, it lingers forever.

yes, good luck on the rain, Tima.

Sunny, I am of the notion that the older a person gets the more an illness lingers. I hope your current malady leaves soon.

The leaves are changing colours quickly...it is so pretty out there.

Happy Oct 1st ,

I am with you on being sick Sunny, it sucks. been down since we got back from Cali and still don't feel right... getting older sucks! does take longer to shake it... we were going to go visit kids and I wasn't well enough... so now it will be last of this month...
Hubby is planning on yard work and home depot run today to see if we can match paint to repaint rooms... then new flooring in house- carpet will be gone.. think that will help both our allergies a lot... going to get wood look flooring in all the rooms and just use rugs that are washable for by beds...

I am slowly getting my housework done... my oldest DD sent me plants for my bday and repotted them and put them on a wooden shelf in kitchen window... looks nice in there now... sent hubby to buy pots and he got clay ones so will be getting pretty ones when I am up to shopping again,,,LOL! he tried!
my fault told him sizes not to buy plastic colored ones....

Welll better go dusting won't do itself... hubby did vacumm but he doesn't think to dust too...

Have a good day all. feel better soon all those feeling like me!

Nana

Nana, how about getting the grands to paint up the clay pots? They'd be more special that way.

GG and I dug up the potatoes this afternoon...I hated to do it today but the weather is going to be wet all week.

I had a few palate things that bread delivery men carried bread in in their trucks with (they stack on one another) ,,I put my larger potatoes on it so they got good air circulation and they did really well like that

Have fun Junie.

DH has the day off today so apparently we are combining our oats...well, what's left on them after the bears had a feast the past two weeks. I have never seen so many bears in our area as we have this year.

My painting for this year is officially completed inside. The only thing left to do is hang back up some pics...as soon as I find my drywall anchors in the shed.

Morning,
I don't know why but my new Ipad won't let me get on here with it.. so only get here when I have bills to pay lately.. had to pay hubby's latest from doc here, she told him to lose weight and stop drinking (YaY) and he actually listened this time.. has lost more than 50 lbs and feels so much better and we are doing more things together now that the drinking doesn't interfere … at least before I got this whatever it was.. still have a cough and can't get energy levels back to normal but better every day.. did hit Costco yesterday and stocked up again for 3 months or so.. that was a big accomplishment....
I have so much to clean up after being ill most of Sept.. my office looks like a storage room, have to put all the meat we bought in bags to seal it for freezer too, clean out fridges too.. hubby tries but just doesn't do stuff my way...LOL!

Well off to get started, I am slow right now but it gets done eventually... have a good day all. hope you all feel better soon that have the yucks.. taking me forever to get over this bug... want to get flu shots but they won't give me one if I am coughing still so waiting...…

Have a good day all
Nana

It was cool and rainy when I woke this morning but it has cleared up much. Sunshine streaming through my windows. It is good to see it back.

I hope it was a restful night Tina.

I like fish for a meal as well Junie.

I think we are cutting next year's fire wood today...at the rate of how we feel, DH could have picked a better time.

Good Morning. Rod and Brian are going to move my Laundry area cabinets, so that my new washer and dryer will fit better. I "get" to sit out in the heat and see if anyone wants a few yard items my DH wants to sell ( there is going to be an Auction next door)

That's good. I use my air compressor a lot....especially for cleaning out the canister vacuum filters every week.

We got our oats all cut...we estimate the bears took over a third of the lot though.

Today I am off to my mothers to help the handyman and my Uncle with repairs to her house....I am more than eager to help to get things done. Her house is in bad shape.

Last week I cleaned out the pretend greenhouse and pulled out Colt's 2 little vehicles. I hate to sale them but he's outgrown them. Didn't take long. I've got to wash them up though.

1/3 is too much, Sunny. Are you celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow or have you already?
You mean you haven't fallen in love with your new house, Carol? You can keep on looking though, at leisure.

Your house is beautiful Junie...give it time. I think the rushing of it all is what took over.

Yes Tina, Thanksgiving is today...my mom is hosting. I only have to make dessert....and pick up DD and GB.

Good Morning!

Thank You, Sunny---yes it is a nice house, there are just some things I liked better about my old house..and you are right. I think I went thru this with the house in town in Worden, when we moved from "the farm" into town
I esp like the sun room, and the fenced in back yard. BUT since we are in a subdivision, we cannot build an outbuilding for DH to tinker in, and I am used to being able to drive to any of 4 Wal-marts, or other stores myself, and am used to being able to drive where I need/want to go. Such is not the case here. The 1 big town here is twice the size of the town I shopped in back in IL and while it has a lot of different shops, there are only a few I will ever be able to drive to...but I knew this before we moved and this is where my DD lives, so.....

Glad the turkey was good...I had to laugh at GB. How old is he again ?

When I was picking out blanket binding for the girls baby doll blankets, He hands me a green pkg and says here is mine Grandma...so fast forward to another binding area, and I now have a rough ribbon that I will add to his pillow cases...(He also handed me camouflage pillow cases that he " needed".). Mind you the only pillow he has is a small travel pillow. But there is a regular pillow at Grandma's house where he sleeps.

He is 3 Junie..and the easiest child to look after. He will do anything that is asked of him...such a difference from his mom and sister.

It is raining today and for the next three days. I have to take GG to an appt tomorrow so we will spend the day in town and get snow suits and such on the same trip...GB will come with us so he can get suited up as well.

Junie I love your sunroom. Ginger has moved to a place without a Target or WalMart and they are having a hard time adjusting even though they like the town and their neighborhood. The last house they had was close to both those stores and in a beautiful neighborhood but she hated the house and the city. I think if Ginger had relatives close by in the hated place she would have learned to like it. Junie your house is lovely and your sunroom is wonderful and your grand children are close by so you'll be loving it before long. BUT you've got to figure out a way to get your DH out of the house sometime. :) Can you build any type of building for him? Maybe a large dog house :)

Bless you, Sheri, and I know you are right. No, there are subdivision rules..not that anyone else obeys them, as there are gardens and small outbuildings all around...But while my DH will let me put in a small garden, he will not put up any size of shed...I even thought he should add a car port, as that would double the space he would have in the garage, but nope he will not. I tried to convince him he needed a part time job just to keep himself busy (and out of the house some) but he says no he will not...

I DO love the sun room and yes the kids are close by and I do love that, I just hope I can find a different way to the shops I can get to...I am hoping with time it will all work..if nothing else, I can go to the Dollar General that is 2 miles away...at least that would get me out of the house,

Sheri, Michael is headed your way. Watch it. Keep safe.
Carol, are the roads to the type of shops you like, main roads and scary driving? Maybe there are back roads that will be easier. When I was last working, I found the traveling to and fro terrible. Traffic jammed freeways and things. Difficulty getting into the proper lanes for exiting, etc. I found a fairly direct way that kept me off the freeways altogether. It was lovely and quick with just a few lights. John thought I was nuts to take out the freeways until I took him my way once and he was amazed. He was kicking himself for not finding it when he was working at the same place every day. So much less stress.
Sweet dreams all.

and you hit the nail on the head...it is a large town with heavy traffic. There are service drives that make it much easier but you still need to be on the proper lane at the proper time....I know my limitations...I can drive or I can figure out where I need to be, but not both at one time....back around IL the town I shopped in grew as the years went by so as it grew I learned where I needed to be when...so I did fine--- I am hoping there is a back way into this shopping area as well but thanks for the heads up. It is appreciated.

G'nite, Tina

Google is your friend. I map a location, my trip, names of roads before a turn so I know when it is coming. I write things down so I can check it at traffic lights, etc.
.I don't mind freeways and such. But I find them boring a lot. You tend to see the backs of everything, backyards of homes, backs of shops and junkyards. These are not the most interesting sights. I like to see landscaping in people's front yards, to see the small shops that may interest me, to see other businesses that I may have need of at some point. Just really like streets as opposed to highways. And the speeds and traffic are more relaxing.

Take a day and drive around with no particular place to go....you'd be amazed at how you'll navigate around in no time.

Ladies you are both far to kind. Thank you both so much ! I really appreciate the pep talk

I had a lovely time with the girls. If my phone would send videos, I would put one in the Hollow log. They were singing rock a bye baby to their dollies...it was so cute...

And if course I should just go drive around...as long as I had a full tank of gas, I could just drive around until I knew where I was going...

Hi all.

I took GG to the pediatrician on Wednesday to get her first physical assessment. I had been waiting two years to get in and it will take a few months to get it done. In the meantime I was saying how we went to the doctor healthy but would probably take home a bug while there with all the sick kiddies....yup, I took home a stomach virus that took me out of commission yesterday.

We had some snow yesterday...it has melted already. Winter is on it's way.

Good morning !

Tina, no, no kids today. I have them on Wednesday and Thursday each week. Then I do evenings and weekends as needed.

Today I need to try to clean my foot in the great room....now if only someone would come in to move all the furniture......

Here ye, here ye....... I hate autocorrect! I typed in FLOOR several times....

My computer has intelligent autocorrect. This tablet, likes to pull words out of the air, even when I try to change it back to the word I wanted....it insists it knows best. rolz

Hi all,

It is raining here as I type... woke up to it pouring … so decided it was a good day to clean up the office again, it ends up being the dumping room... got all my pictures and albums in 4 containers... and one big Rubbermaid of framed pics.. have another one in garage I need to go thru still... hubby moved tv and printer for me to get to easier too, that helps a lot... it's supposed to rain again tomorrow so he says he will put up ceiling fan for me.. that will be nice too... we moved my sewing machine in here too, found a stereo cabinet on our local neighborhood sale site for 20 dollars. perfect condition and will hold my record player and some of our records.. have over 300 of them so just put favs in it..
put it in living room , looks pretty good in there...
We have to go to the county building on Mon and pay our property taxes, our lender never told us our house payment didn't include our taxes... was that way when we lived in AZ before so I just assumed it still was.. well it's not and they never billed up either.. guess they do that a lot according to our neighbors... you have to call and ask what to pay they say... fine if you know that beforehand... Mon will be fun...
spending money again...

Well off to go take a hot bath.. this wet weather just does a number on my achy body.. love the jacuzzi tub though... does make it bearable...
have a good evening all...

Nana

Yes very happy you are getting rain! (So mmm stones) I typed in Sometimes..it is a wonderful thing.

Sorry you didn't understand about your taxes. Can you renegotiate you payments to include the taxes ??

Taxes...in IL in our county, you can pay them in 4 installments. Then when you sell a house the title company takes the taxes due from your check before it is made out to you...easy for the seller.

In MO, .......here anyway,...... you agree on a price, they deduct the taxes that the seller owes from the agreed price, you pay that much less, and then the BUYER gets to pay all the taxes for the year....no matter how long you actually owned your new residence. THEN...guess when taxes are due ?!?? They are due in DECEMBER.all at once !....Grrrrrrrrrr

G'nite everyone..sweet dreams

I pay property taxes twice a year. In Nov and Apr. I own the property outright, no mortgage or anything. It's due next month.

We own ours also. They just do not allow payments/installments in this neck of the woods.

Taxes here are due in May....at the same time we get our income tax return. Apparently though they have put a payment plan option of monthly installments as of last year. That will be a blessing for many. You can't get it in a mortgage as of yet.

The rain has ended for a few days but the wind is fierce today. I had plans for an outdoor clean up and Halloween set up but that will have to wait. I am debating making a run to the hardware store to get some needed supplies.

Aw, that melts my heart.

It is a cool, windy day but a good one to cord up next years wood behind the shed. I am really tackling that Winter prep list earlier this year.

Sunny I've heard and read that we're all supposed to have an earlier and harsher winter this year. Probably a good thing you're tackling things early. Hope you had a lovely birthday.

Junie I'm not a baby person but when the babies grow to the toddler stage I just love the things they say and do. Just want to squeeze them. I think I kissed the skin off Colt's face and entire head last week. So far he's not complaining about it but I'm sure the time will come.

I'm sick today and stayed home from church. I thought I was having chills until I went downstairs and found out that it's 69° down there and it feels very cold. I put on a long sleeved shirt and may get back in the bed.

Thanks Sheri.

Yes, the Winter is supposed to be a harsh one for here I heard...mind you, any Winter here is harsh lol

The wood is all piled and the mess is raked up. I got the garden plot cleaned up and cut back two other flower beds. Another full day outside is all I need to be ready for Old man Winter thumbup

Well, I have officially had this sore throat for a month...antibiotics, and even raw honey hasn't helped.

Good Morning! Wel!, My Christmas book is readying go ( I make out pages every year to keep track of what I have bought, mostly for fun, but it has helped me keep track of expenses in the past. It also helps me avoid repeats on gifts.

Raining here, but that will help the fertilizer that Rod put down.

Rod cut down some overgrown yews that we had up against the house. It looks much nicer in my landscaping now. I will need more rock next year, but for now we are good.

Well we are in 6B now..we were ( to my notion) right between 6A and 6B in Illinois.

I will have to go by what my DD says to see if this winter is any harder on me this year. I am hoping it is milder...But I guess I can hope all I want, huh ?

Hi all...we are under a severe wind warning. The generator will be close at hand.

Good morning. Coffee at hand.

I was cold this morning. I think it is time for another blanket on the bed.

Cable guy coming today to access our home for TV, internet and phone.

Hi all,

Well taxes are paid, turns out we didn't get our tax notices because the county here decided to send them to Broomfield Co.. mind we lived in Littleton, don't have a clue where they got the wrong address... so changed the address with the county, paid what was due and all of next yrs taxes while we were at it... found out when we bought the house here the title co paid the taxes the previous owners owed and not the only 2 months we owned... we are going tomorrow to see if they will refund that... probably won't but we had to pay or eventually they would put a lien on our house... not worth fighting with the county... but may win if we threaten the title company with a lawyer.. they don't have to know it's my bil…. LOL!

Our inlaws are back so they have their dog back, made our Milo happy. he prefers being an only dog.. I spent about 20 minutes filing stuff, just got stuck on the desk all the time I was ill, was a pretty good size pile, so glad I already had redone filing cabinet...

We got some rain here too, and went from 85* down to the 60's, cold for here... still not running heat yet.. helps on utility bills, did put my elec blanket on bed though... get chilly at night..

Well off to get something done... don't have to cook for dinner, have lots of leftovers, still haven't learned to cook for just the two of us.. makes for some interesting leftover meals and less cooking for me too..nice!

Have a good day all!

Nana

Yes, I still use all my big pots and pans although we are a little family. A good thing I like leftovers. I call them planned overs.
