Good Morning. I am awake, I guess by habit. I had hoped to sleep in some today. I have the day "off".

I took my 2 plants. from the porch out to the rain. I hope it rains long enough to do them both some good.

I wish you all a wonderful Wednesday.

Junie that sunporch is the perfect place for the gang to hang out and play. (looking at your pictures again) I hope you love your new house. You should put your Christmas cactus out in the rain like Johnny's alteration lady.

Have you checked around for a ceramic group?

Tina do you have much humidity or is it dry heat? When we lived in Arizona it would be over 100 degrees but without high humidity and it didn't seem so hot. The humidity here, not the temperature, makes being outside unbearable sometimes.

Darbi came over yesterday and we laid on the couch and ate toast and green beans. She is sooooo laid back it doesn't make sense that she's a good ball player. We watched a bunch of episodes of Friends on Netflix and that's all she wanted to do. She goes back to college Monday.

Hi all. I have been busy.

We have half our hay in for the Winter...waiting on a stretch of dry weather to get the other half cut and baled. We are under a thunderstorm watch today...it has been rumbling all day off and on.

One of our recliners broke beyond repair yesterday...good thing is that I stripped the springs out of it and fixed the matching one up as good as new.

Sheri: I agree, the Sunporch IS the perfect place for the kids and their toys. Plus if I am running late, all I have to do IS close the door to the porch and my house looks good. Double yay !

I have not checked for a ceramic group b/c I have not learned to navigate in Cape Giardeauyet. That is where it might be.I

Sunny yay on the work being done.......... half is a very good start. As a side note, my DH would love to have you as a wife. You do a lot of heavy work around the house. Your DH knows how lucky he is, right ?

Thundering here but no rain since the morning.

Good afternoon.
Yes, Sheri, it is a dry heat for the most part. It makes life easier for sure.

We got some nasty rain and wind...it sure cooled it down quickly. The lightning and thunder is over for the day thankfully.

Junie, if I would have been smart...I wouldn't have learned to do heavy work in the first place. lol To this day, I still regret learning to drive the old front end loader.

I wish I could send some rain to you Tina kissie

It is raining here and I am not complaining...we have been getting such heat that any rain is a welcome sight. My neighbor's had to go past 250 feet with their new well to hit water...and their gallons per minute is only half of what we have. A great expense with major disappointment for them. Once you pass 200 ft here you get into a salt vein.

I have a dr appt this afternoon so DD and kids will follow to go to Walmart. DD lucks out that I got the last appt of the day so I have time to pick her up at work on the way.

Roast does make the house smell good. Do you add potatoes and carrots?

I"m watching The Guernsey Literary and potato Peel Pie Society on Netflix. I loved the book.

Just a check up, Tina. All is well.

Sorry for the loss of your family member Nana. I understand on the funerals this year..it has been non-stop here. I have an Uncle-in-law in palliative care as I type.

The trip went well, DD loaded up on supplies and I got a new mat/rug for the entrance on clearance.

I cook my roast in a slow cooker too. Makes it so tender.

Junie, the book started in WWII when people didn't have butter and sugar and the stuff to make a pie good so a man made a potato peel pie. It's a great book to read and now it's a movie on Netflix.

Hi all. I spent the day yesterday with yard work...it got a little out of hand on me with all this rain. I am caught up now and today I'll tackle the house while DH is out with a farmer friend.

We got another field cut last night so hay making waits ahead for Tuesday.

I made up the 'Fall to-do' list this morning...I think it scared DH lol

Have a nice Sunday everyone.

Good morning.

The weather has been cooling down...there is damp grass from the dew every morning. I'll soon be fighting the frost warnings, sadly.

Laundry is on the line and I must begin baking shortly. Thinking a nice pan of corn bread would be a nice treat.

Have a good one.

It is just the hood latch. I can't get into the works to check fluids and things. It is time for an oil change also. Then an inspection. It seems never ending sometimes.

Junie have you been buying iced donuts or ice AND donuts?

Sunny your growing season seems like it has been shorter than usual this year. You're so handy you should think about building you a big hoop house to grow stuff in all year. Not sure how the piles of snow would work into that scenario though.

Tina hope you got your car straightened out. My Honda is sitting out there with a dead battery.

I text with dodge and she said she can't see pictures on here so she's not planning on coming back. I think James tried to figure out that issue for her a while back but evidently it didn't work out.

Hi all, our internet and phone was out since last night.

A hoop shed would never work here Sheri, I thought about a small green house but they have to be completely disassembled and put away. In fact, we had a light frost already this morning. I am going to have to start covering the peppers and tomatoes soon.

I had to do a new password to get back in here Sheri...it was the only thing that worked to reset with the newer computer. Hoping Dodge can give it a try.

LOL...I bought ice AND donuts ! We have a water softener here in MO. I need to drink unsoftened water and use unsoftened ice. Buying it seemed easier than using my boughten water to make my ice with.

Sorry for the outages, Sunny. Also sorry for the frost coming. I wonder if we will have an early fall here as well.

I need to go and begin making supper. TTYAL.

I always wondered what the salt levels were in softened water.

Yes. Me too.
Plants N Pots sent me a message. In it is an article from the Mayo clinic. I will see what they advise that I do. I will also ask my Dr. Next time I see him. ( October).

A woman once told me that she only drank seltzer water or soda water when she was out drinking due to blood pressure. I told her she better check because they had salt. So she came back into the bar I was tending and said I was right. She decided water was her mixer. I told her that club was ok but she'd best ask if other places were using softened water. She nearly had a cow. Her water at home was softened.
So many pitfalls.

Morning. Another poor night of sleep. My uncle used to have this problem. He said the older he got the less sleep he needed. I do hope I have not inherited that trait.

You know, Sunny. I agree with Tina. I cannot imagine you being Lazy. As a matter of fact, I am sure you would not know how to be lazy if you tried.

Wonderful weather out today and tonight. I took advantage of this cool spell and trimmed up my blackberries.

I tried to be lazy but it didn't work. I honestly think I am the only woman who gets lectured by her husband to sit down and stop cleaning/cooking lol

I ended up making three more kinds of pickles last night.....my garden is a such a blessing this year. I now have bread and butter pickles, mustard pickles and cucumber lunch to add to the cabinet.

Today I will pick up GB for a sleepover. He already called to say that he is not going to 'tay-care' tomorrow haha

Have a good day ahead.

I don't have auto correct but DD does.....the emails she sends sometimes have me so confused.

Picked up GB and took him for his hair cut...the lady bribes him to sit still with a pack of 'tic-tac' candy lol DD gets to spend the evening mowing her grass.

About auto correct. Me spelling a word wrong is one thing but if I type day "Worden" it changes it to Worsen. Every time. Thank the Lord I do not have it on my computer...which is acting up as I use my tablet.
It will come on but then I cannot go anywhere or do anything at all..

Going to bed to read. I will sleep with the fam on tonight. It will be wonderfu! !

I wonder where Tina has been ?
Good night everyone. Sweet Dreams everyone.

Good morning.

Not sure what the day holds ahead but I do have to make a run to the store later with DD and the kids after she gets off work. I get to treat myself to a cappuccino while she shops grin

I have not ever had a cappuccino either. I usually have a latte if the.opportunity presents itself. I will have to try one sometime.

I am going out to do some window shopping today. It looks like we may get rain here. ( S. Misdouri)

If cappoccino has a bunch of caffeine in it, I could use it now. Oh well, I'll have to make do with regular coffee.

Yup, it's like a sweet, strong coffee with vanilla flavoring. It's not something I'd drink every day...but a nice treat.

Shelley gets her some type of coffee at Starbucks every day. I don't drink coffee and I'm glad because it costs $7.00. A drink isn't worth that much to me.

Junie do you have a good WalMart. I avoid the one in Monroe like the plague because it's always packed and even though they have like 25 registers there are only 2 people actually working.

Sunny, this week my niece sent a picture of where she takes her 18 month old son to get his hair cut and they sit in cars on pedestals like on a carrousel. He sits still because he thinks he's having fun :). It costs $100.00 though.

Tina did you get your roof fixed?

It is a large Wal-Mart and it has grocery. I really do not know if it is actually a good one or not as DH is always there saying "are you done yet ????"

Apparently he goes buying not shopping. As an example, Today I saw a bin full of brand name metal miniature cars. I say oh, a start on my Christmas shopping. Well he says it is too ear my to go Christmas shopping and golly they are $2.99 each. ( A real steal, right ? )

Luckily my mommy did not raise any dummies, so I said yes. And I need 4 of them, but one has to be plastic. ( Ian will be just 2 at Christmas). So they are on my dining room table as I type.

Holy ....! GB sits on my lap and it costs $5 for two minutes of her time.

Good deal Junie....Christmas will be here before we know it and with so many to buy for, I don't blame you to start early. This year the grands are getting metal bunk beds for here and a little toy to get wrapped under the tree.

All Walmarts have no cashiers now...they want you to use the self checkers. With all that people are stealing that way...they are saving nothing.

My youngest DD that is the one having the child, (#4) is due the end of September. Her other 3 were born 1 in September and 2 in October. She always was a planner.

My Christmas will be much different this year as I will not be going out to shop as much or will not be invited out by one of my siblings to shop either.

Perhaps I need to become an online shopper.

I knew that would happen about Wal-Mart. I guess Target will be getting my business, that or Amazon.

Traditional schools started today so traffic will be worse than usual.

I know right Sunny. I can't imagine paying $100.00 for a child's haircut even if they get to sit in a car. They'd have to give me the car to get that kind of money out of me. Sometimes Ginger cuts Chris's and Colt's at home. I don't think it's my nephew but more his wife. She's very sweet and will bend over backwards to help people but she has odd ideas about child rearing.

The problem with my local WalMart is that the millions of self check outs there don't work the majority of the time. So I've stood in line to self check out then have to go stand in the 5 mile long line for the person check out. It's been a long time since I've been there. Shelley used to go once a week (this is where I got my current info) but she's started ordering her groceries online to stay out of there. Bad management.

Good for you Junie on getting those toys. Just imagine, even if you wrap just 2 presents a piece and put them under your tree that's going to be a lot of stuff. You'll have to post a picture of your tree this year. I don't know what our Christmas will be since we did our Christmas vacation in the summer this year. I suppose I'll but a few gifts to put under the tree but it won't be a lot of stuff. That said, Shelley is saying they won't go to the beach with us next summer. I might have said here, that Chris has an aunt who owns a house with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and a private pool, one block back from the ocean, that she says we can have for a week for FREE. I said if we get the house for free that Johnny and I will pay for our activities and such for everyone's Christmas gift since we usually pay for the lodging, but Shelley says Tracy says he can't stay in the same house with all of us for a week. So I don't know what's going to happen. I can't have presents under the tree at Christmas for Shelley's family and not have any for Colt.

Junie hope you had fun at ceramics. Did you go locally?

Yes, Tracy is Shelley's husband. The man hardly ever says a word so Ginger and I are thinking it's Shelley who doesn't want to go and is blaming him. They have the most kids and are by far the pickiest eaters so they are the problem group. Colt rarely complains, will eat macaroni and cheese for every meal, will stay in the ocean or pool or dig a hole to China in the sand all day long. He'll sleep on the floor, the couch, in the car, wherever so he's not a problem. And Chris will do whatever everyone else wants to do and eats everything put in front of him. Who knows. Sunny that's pretty much what I'm going to say. We'll be there and if they want to come for 1 day or 5 then we have the room but if they don't want to come we'll have fun anyway and their children will be mad at them.

I went with Colby to the gym today. He's the sweetest boy ever.

Thanks to you all. It was a glorious day indeed !!!! and my freinds were happy to see me. Even the waitress at lunch said nice to see you dear....

I went to my old ceramics place...and one of the ladies had done the eyes in my bunnies...she is a wiz at eyes. makes the piece look so life like indeed.

We went to lunch together once again it was grand. I hope I get to go again soon.

My mom was in a 1 car accident today,. she was not driving so that is good, she is stable now, but after all she is soon to be 86. Tomorrow I will go spend a few days with my sister to be closer..so if I am not around, that is where I am,

sweet dreams

Oh my...prayers for your mom Junie. I am so happy that you got a day with your friends as well.

Sheri, my GB is the easiest child also. I have to go pick him up later at day care. He will be staying here for a few days since the day care is having 'activity days'. I'd rather have him safe in my house then on a bus with no seat belt for 3 hrs both ways to go to the big city. This day care has the strangest outings ever. DD has a lot to catch up on in her house as well....before she ends up on "Hoarders."

Hope the car is an easy fix Tina.

It is a cooler day today, which we haven't seen much of....this has been one strange Summer.

Junie how far are you from your ceramics place? Is it a trip you can make weekly? or at least every other week? Glad you're mother is ok.

Tina, did you get your car fixed? We got one of ours fixed but I think we're going to have to trade in the Honda.

Sunny, I don't blame you one bit for keeping GB home. I don't understand why bus seat belts aren't a requirement.

Yes, I agree.

Glad you got it figured out Tina.

Today I came home to a strange conversation from a 618 area code. Whomever called never meant to leave a message but recorded their conversation. The conversation went on for about 5 minutes...I could have sworn it sounded like Junie. I never called back since it is over $1 a minute charge. I hope all is o.k. on her end.

I am 618..but..unless I butt dialed you, It was not me...But I guess I could have pushed some wrong buttons. I will ask my DD to watch her bill closely when it comes in...

No my ceramics classes are a 3 hr drive away. But I have developed some good friends over time and not seeing them is hard. Night I mention not being close by my family during times like this...

I could have sworn it was you Carol...the conversation was about therapy/taking care of someone. I have never been 'butt dialed' before grin

GB was up at 6 am this morning asking for blueberries. I guess they were calling his name from the fridge lol

Baking day here...bread and sweets await.

If I did not say earlier my daughter is due the very end of September. I
This babies birthday will fit nicely with it's siblings.

Sunny, I do wish we had of talked.

Darn those Blueberries anyway. They really need to learn to wait until a more reasonable hour to begin talking......

Going back up to see Momma today.

Junie September wow. It could be any minute. Hope your mother is ok. Sorry ceramics is so far away.

Tina glad you figured out your car situation. And how great to be energized.

Sunny I've read that blueberries are a very good way to start the day. Good for GB.

I'm feeling very special today. A few weeks ago I cut a few hydrangea blooms and stuck them in a vase of water. And I don't remember how long ago, weeks, I cut a couple zinnia stems and stuck them in a vase of water. Today, thinking how good everything still looked, I decided to change the vase water only to find that one of the hydrangea blooms has rooted and 2 of the zinnias have rooted too. Also rooted in one of those vases was 2 pieces of my Christmas cactus. All have been planted in a pot of dirt. Hope they continue to grow.

Yes, that is good news to hear.

GB is still here, he goes home tonight when DD is off work for the weekend. Boys are so much easier to look after than girls...maybe it's just my opinion but I'm sticking with it lol

Hi all.

My house needs to be mopped as well.....Play-doh makes the floor slippery.

I cut back some of the trees at DD's last night...whoever thought that planting Jack Pine's in front was a good idea needed to have their head checked. The landlord gave permission to have the limb's within reach cut down. We are hoping that it kills the trees out right.

I'd stay home as well Tina.

I spent the day with roofing contractor quoting...we are booked for the second week of September. My house has been in need and will not last another hard Winter.

I have seen many a line tree trimmed back. I do not think it will kill them. Sorry to say.

Momma was not so good today. And she is still in ICU. But I guess this will all take time.

Going to go to sleep.now..sweet dreams.

Eww to the flies Sunny. If heat could kill bugs we"d be bug free after the last week. It"s horrible.

Hello!

As much as I hate winter, at least there are no flies or mosquitoes. So don't say I said so, but yay for Cooke weather!

Thanks for the kind words about Mom. It is very much appreciated.

Hi all...another rainy day here.

School starts tomorrow. GG is nervous about who will be her teacher...this year the school is down to a little over 80 kids. It shall be closed within a few years at this rate.

Not sure what today holds...have a good one.

Good morning. I hope that GG adjusts well, Sunny. I hope all goes well for her. Also hope that her school grows, son you do not have to worry.

I am still going to visit mom. I will be going home tomorrow. While I would love to be here to continue to see mom, I am beginning to feel like I am imposing on my sister. Plus I need to get back to watching my granddaughters.

I wish you all a good day.

Junie, it does seem after about 3 days, while not wanting to admit it, people are ready for you to go home. That didn't come out the way I mean for it too exactly but I've been on both ends of that situation (for emergencies) and it just seems 3 days just about does it even when it can't be helped and everyone loves everyone else. Even going to Ginger's, it depends on how big her house is, if I can stand to stay longer than 3 days. If I have space to be able to have a minute alone I can do longer. I hope your mother recovers quickly and you don't feel stressed by being pulled in different directions.

Sunny, where are all the school children going? That happened to one of my schools when I worked as a school nurse. It's an inner city school and was historically almost 100% black but when the Mexicans came in full force most of the black kids left and when I retired there were less than 400 kids at that school. Not sure how many there are now. I've always wondered where the black students went.

The symphony is on the grounds at Wingate University tonight. Think I might go.

There are just less children being born...and more people moving away. There were 4 schools here when I was a child, then down to two when DD was school age. Now we are down to just one. In three years, there will be no school they think. Then we will have to ship all the kids to the school an hour from here. How that will work in the Winter is going to be a mess.

Gb is on the phone with me right now telling me he is all done with going to 'tay care' lol

Sunny your GB and Colt would get along fine. Colt is all done with school too and when I mentioned college one day he freak out - "more school after all this!!!! I can't believe it" is what he said.
One of my sisters lived rurally and had a long drive to take her children to school. She tried home schooling for a while and decided it was not for her. They lived in Virginia so had many days of bad weather but nothing like you. Can't imagine your drive in your weather.

Mom has been transferred to a different room. There will still be more care than in a regular hospital room, but she will not be requiring as much care as in the ICU.

I am going home tomorrow. Do not mind going home, but do not wanna be away from momma. She says well, we can talk on the phone.....when I get to have my phone....

Sweet Dreams!

I think her home phone isn't hooked up yet Tina.

GB is 3...the good thing is that this year they take him from his day care room to a pre-school class for two hrs a day. It will break up the routine a bit.

GG is off to school...Grade 3 this year.

I need to mow my grass or I should say weeds today.

Sunny is right...I have no home phone..We just have cell phones right now

. BUT it is momma who does not have a phone.

1) they have issues with things walking away in hospitals..

.2) like with her hearing aides...if she wears them while in bed, and they fell out, they could get wasted up in her sheets when they change them and no one would ever see them again.

I wish everyone a great day.

Junie what is happening with your mother? Did she break bones in the wreck? Does your mother live alone? They are more than correct about things being lost at the hospital. Happened all the time when I worked in a hospital and we had more staff than they do now. Nowadays I'm sure the sheets are yanked off and the bed changed quickly because it has to be completed so fast. Speaking of the hospital, when I worked in one, the sheets were changed and bathes given daily. Now the rule is twice a week if the patient stays that long. A church member had to go to rehab for a broken knee and she didn't have a shower in her room. She was there 5 weeks and got 2 showers only because her daughter pitched a fit. Healthcare ain't what it used to be. Got off on a tangent there. Sorry.

We have a home phone only because it's part of the internet bundle we got years ago and it won't save any money to discontinue it. No one, except telemarketers use it though :)

Hi !

Sheri: My mom has osteoporosis really bad. she has 2 cervical fractures--hangmans & lamnia. then she has 6 broken ribs and a broken sternum.. car went nose first in to a deep deep ditch.

she is better it will just take a long while to recover. and yep my mom lost 1 hearing aide..I told her she would but she insisted she wear them while in bed. and yes the Dr saud to get her out asap as hospitals were "Germy"

I want a land line phone so if I have an emergency I can call for help---with a call phone, if the weather is bad of I am out of charge or there is no electricity i am SOL

Well, our power went out for about a half hour. It was too early to go to bed so we twiddled our thumbs until it came back.
Sweet dreams all.

Hi Tina. I'm here. Johnny didn't get out of here until late and I've been doing a few things around the house.

Can we start time stamping our posts again because I can't tell what day we're on.

Bless your mother's heart Carol. Sounds so painful. Will her insurance pay for another hearing aide? At least she wears hers. I know so many people who have them but refuse to wear them for one reason or another. It's difficult to talk to someone who can't hear well.

Our phone is connected to our internet so if the power goes out so does our phone. I found out when I was doing a little work from home that we can't even get a real landline. The only company that supposedly offers that around here is Frontier Communications and they're out of MA. They have an office but it's called an "unmanned office" so I'm not sure what the point of having it is. I called them a gazillion times to get service and they never showed up so I just ended up plugging into my internet service. Evidentially it's a problem because the higher ups had to "bend the rule" to allow employees to use internet service because there are a lot of people who can't find a land phone service.

From the sounds ofbit, the hospital is going to replace the hearing aide. My brother has to do some paperwork or some such. I told her if she wore them while laying down this would happen.... But then what do I know...lol

Girls in bed 1 hour late. That is no problem except that they will be asleep when their mom comes to pick them up. Oh well...

My landline is Frontier and so is my internet. It was Verizon until they sold us out. My dial up phone on the wall still works when the power is out. But without touch tone it is often useless for somethings. Even voice things sometimes.

I hope the girls wake up happy nappers, Carol.

GB was sick and they refused to keep him at day care. I had to make a quick run as soon as I put GG on the bus, then head to town to run errands for DH at the same time. It has been a busy day.

Thanks Tina.

We have the girls again today (every Wednesday and Thursday) they really just mainly wanted to lay around this morning. If it had of been just 1 child or possibly 2 I think I could have put them down for a morning nap. They took turns laying on a pillow & resting.

Girls taking their afternoon nap now.
Porch straight and kitchen cleaned up. Yay !

I was outdoors all day.

I had to replace the old clothes dyer vent and cover....it wasn't the easy task that I had planned of course. Oh well, it is another thing off the list. I also got the wood shed cleaned out and a row and a half of wood put in...only 5 and a half left to go lol

I am loving this cooler weather.
