Good morning ! I have been up a long time...grrrrr

Well, it's too hot for lawn mowing today. I need to make a quick grocery run in a few.

I was in this morning but my power went out. So I got "powerless" stuff done today, so far. Thank goodness it came back on before it got hotter.

I too went grocery shopping....it was not a fun trip. I miss my old grocery stores, and the things I could buy in them.

Our power was out as well Tina...just for a half hour though. I think they are working on power lines/tree trimming.

I was out to the local store...prices there are getting crazier with the new owner.

Yes I hear that. At this new store I was T today, they had some good salrs, some regularly priced items and then sprinkled thruout was a good number of way overpriced items !

I guess the name of the game was make it (money) how and where you can.

watching the kids tomorrow..so Val can work on her room..school starts (for the teachers) next Thursday.

I will watch the kids on Wednesdays & Thursdays during the school year.

GG turns 8 in one week. I have to make a Walmart run this weekend as well. DH bought her a tablet but did not know that you have to buy a bumper case....wish he would have bought me one, they were on sale for $60.

Another hot day...we are reaching the high 90's everyday. It was a good idea to try larger tomatoes in my garden...they are growing wonderfully for the first time ever.

Shelley's children started school Monday and Colt starts August 9th. It's going to be interesting for Colt now that his dad is the Head Master at his school and his mother is teaching STEM at his school.

Sunny I'm surprised your school starts that late since you guys have such bad weather I would have thought it would start earlier in the summer.

Junie when you say "kids" do you mean all day or just after school?

We took ToDeTa to have her put to sleep on Tuesday and brought her back home. If I've already posted this please forgive me and don't read it but I'm crazy with 2 boys and a sick dog in my house. She has rectal bleeding and has started pooping in her bed. Johnny was a basket case, which I don't understand, and cried like he was the one dying. He asked the vet to do lab work and her kidneys, although still failing, aren't any worse and may be a fraction improved. All he heard was "improved" so the doctor ended up giving her medicine for a GI bleed and sending us on our way. He talked to us for a long, long time and I'm sure he needed to get to other clients but Johnny just wouldn't make a decision, even though we had made the decision before we left the house. The vet said it comes to a quality of life situation, sick or not, and since she's sleeping 20 hours a day, only getting up for us to take her out, that she has no quality of life. My decision has been for Johnny to be the one and only one to take care of her when he's home so we shall see. I think his reaction to his has been beyond weird. She's not in any pain that we can tell and once in a while does seem a little bit better but she's 14 years old and this is as good as she's going to ever be again. I'm not sure what kind of personality issue Johnny has that he can't let his dog rest in peace.

Oh my Sheri, it is hard to let our babies go but I agree its a quality of life thing , and a dog will not let on if it's in pain... hope he can let go soon...

School started here today for at least our neighborhood kids... and my grands start in 2 weeks... seems earlier every yr...

We went to Yuma again for another funeral, 3rd one this year so far, another one of hubby's aunts is in hospice in Cali so may be heading there too... this getting older isn't for sissies... it was good to see relatives and visit but hate having to have a funeral to get us all together..

I agree prices are getting worse all the time... I think we moved at right time to lower our housing bills but food is ridiculous everywhere it seems...and hubby having to go to doc more often is adding another expense .. he is pre diabetic at moment and was told to stop drinking and lose some weight .. it runs in his family from both sides so he did as told (Yay) and feels better already... but somehow got pink eye before we left and had to get drops for that... worse than a kid! LOL!

Well better get busy and get done paying bills and get laundry done up and house picked up.. how does it get messy when we are gone for 4 days? ????

We moved down here by Valarie so we could help her with the kids. I have been coming to her house quite a bit so that she can get stuff done. Stuff
Like setting up her classroom and taking Henry school shopping. He was 4 this past April. He will go to preschool this year at his mom's school since she is a teacher they will allow him to attend their preschool for free.......next year he will attend the School of the church that Brian and the kids belong to.

Valentine's first day of school is the 9th of Agust. Kids start week after next...I will be watching the girls on Wednesday and Thursdays during the school year.
It seems to me that most schools begin earlier every year.

So many losses, Sherri. I hope you both well and long lives.
A good deal, Carol. Lots of grand baby time for you ahead.

Funerals do tend to come in groups of 3's. I have no idea why but it does happen a lot.

Going to Worden tomorrow and We will be back home here in MO by Friday evening.

Hello. Thanks everyone for the good wishes. I was awake early so I have a bit of extra time. So, I thought to come in and say good morning.

No rain here...thank goodness. I still say that mother nature needs to learn how to rain between midnight and 6 am. We would have our needed moisture but not be inconvenienced by it.

Sherri sorry about all the deaths. It is sad that funerals are the only time we have a family reunion. It does seem like funerals happen in 3's. Good observation Junie.

Sunny I know what you mean about your hair. I'm sitting here wondering if I should just wrap a towel around my head because I know for sure it won't flatten out today. The humidity is killer.

Well, DH gave in today and sent me to buy an air conditioner...the joke was on me. There wasn't any to be found anywhere and they can't order any in. No wonder, we haven't had heat reaching 100 for more than a day before...now it is weeks on end.

I'll remind him of this heat when April hits next year and they stock a few in the stores.

I need to try cut the weeds on the lawn today...the grass is burnt but some weeds are a foot high. Go figure.

Sunny, I don't know what yellow bean pods are. Are they what we call wax beans? Tough break about the AC.

It's rained mostly here today and the temp would be in the 70's but when the rain stopped for only 2 minutes it would soar back up to the 90's.

That is what I am thinking they are..are we even close, Sunny ???

Yup, yellow beans are wax beans. I boil them in salted water...I do can them as well, with a mustard sugar vinegar brine. They are delicious.

We were gone all day yesterday to a local little festival...even DD attended with us. The best thing is that it is all free...except for the craft table set up. GG got a bracelet and GB wanted nothing We stopped for ice cream on the way home...it was a nice day.

The heat hasn't stopped. We were told the next batch of air conditioners are only set to arrive in April 2019.

Today we are invited to a 25 Anniversary Party for my DD's in- laws. They are hosting it themselves. Thing is they have invited more people than they have room for. Hopefully it will be set up more like an open house. We shall see.

It is a provincial(Civic)holiday here...and it's going to be another hot one. It is supposed to reach 100 today with 5 days of thunderstorms ahead. I am so thankful we have a generator now...I am sure we will be needing it this week.

I slept in today...which is good as tomorrow the girls will be here ready to eat at around 7 .

Henry has 2 half days of preschool to get him used to the idea. Val is staying t school because by the time she would drive home she would be home a very short time and then she would have to drive back to get him. Give her more time to.prepare for the upcoming school year anyway.

Sunny, I hope they are mistaken about the storms...But also glad that you have a generator.

I am...I have been occasionally doing all 4 at once...But at their house. That is another reason why 2 half days will be good. They can adjust to this house and Papaw & I both.

Sorry to confuse.//I unpacked today--all day---The kids will be here the next 3 days...Tuesday & Wednesday are half days Thursday Henry will be here as well as the girls.

Thursday is the first day of school for Valarie as a teacher. Kids start next week,,on Thursday I believe, This Tuesday & Wednesday is so Henry can get used to the idea of Preschool. Gonna have to leave the doors open to the Sun room so it is cooler....
(Sun room is where all the toys are at)

Ok, I hope you have fun the next three days. The confusion is probably my fault, not being able to keep up.

We are up and drinking our coffee. Here in a few I will start making breakfast. It seems the kids are used to their other Grandma making breakfast every morning. So Rod lucks out...I will be making a hot breakfast 2 days a week. 3 this week.

I"m at Colt"s. Ging and Chris worked at the school yesterday and had open house last night and they"re back at the school today. Colt starts Thursday. I love this house. It was built in 1923, has high ceilings, and a wrap around porch with brick columns, and wide sidewalks everywhere. It"s in the historic district and some of these houses are plantation houses and beautiful. The little town is like Mayberry. It"s for sale but I"ll be surprised if they buy it. A boy Colt"s age lives across the street and twin boys his age live around the corner. They"re here now.

Good luck Carol. Once you and the children get in a pattern things will be fun. By the way Colt had macaroni for breakfast.🍲

Macaroni...hey, another option. I must make scrambled eggs different than the other Grandparents or mom...they hardly ate any...Heidi did scarf up her bacon when I started to take away her plate though. They will have scrambled eggs as their protein for lunch though.... This morning when Cora needed a diaper change, she was cranky so Heidi have her her Paci......well the rule is if you leave the bedroom the pack stays...she would not throw it in the crib so she had to go in the crib. Seeing she got her pack the other 2 eventually wanted in their beds. So now all 3 are sleeping. Oh well, I got my dishes done this way...But it is gonna be a long afternoon for Mom...

GG turns 8 tomorrow..we will have just a small immediate family supper/party tomorrow then take her for an outing this weekend.

French toast was my favorite way to get egg protein into my kids when they were little. With a bit of vanilla mixed into the eggs.

I despise our local grocery store. I ordered her cake a week ahead, called yesterday to remind them. I went to pick it up today....no cake made. Then they wanted me to buy a pre-made sheet cake for $25 more. Needless to say, by the time I was done....I got the sheet cake for $10(the price of the 8 inch round) that I had ordered. I hope it tastes o.k. They come frozen from the factory with a whipped cream icing....they thaw them in store.

I have the worst luck when it comes to getting things done for celebrations.

Anyone shop at Kohls? I've bought several things there and last week I received a 20% off coupon in the mail and I had $5.00 Kohls cash and there was a coupon for free shipping online. So I ordered 2 dresses which are too big. (sizes are so strange nowadays) I was going to re-order the same thing in another size but was told I've already used my 20% coupon and can't get it back and the free shipping coupon isn't valid anymore. Guess I'm done with Kohls.

Yes, I don't care for Kohls either. I don't like the games.

I like Kohl's but then I usually shop there in person.

Sheri, the cake wasn't made because 'she forgot'...why have a board with each day's order on then?? The cake was good so it was o.k. in the end. Mind you, I will never order a cake from there ever again.

DH clicked on something today and this computer went haywire...it took me hours to quarantine whatever it was. It hijacked my browser. I lost my google home page though and now have Firefox. I ended up losing all bookmarks and such with the change over.
