Being close to the children is a blessing for sure Junie. Sometimes :)

I went for acupuncture today at 10:30 AM and it made me dizzy and nauseated. It's been hours and I'm still not fully recovered.

It's hot and the rain we were supposed to get hasn't happened. The humidity is sucking the air right out of my lungs.

I have no idea why he got over it, but he told me to go ahead and buy water for my plants.,..now mind you I always was going to buy water for my plants, but it will be nice not to have to fight with him every time I do by water for them.

G'nite, Tina.....

sweet dreams to you all.

I'm back. What a mess....nothing would work. Not even a new forum name log in. I kept trying and finally got back in requesting a new password.

My computer crashed...for good. I am now using DH's laptop.

Welcome back Sunny. You were missed.

Sorry about the crashed computer. You too Tina. I am scared. My laptop has not had a battery in like forever. My DH bought me a new battery, and it would only stay charged for like 3 hours..so I sent it back...now I just plug it in that it use my kindle.

Such a world we live in. These computers should work like other inventions like say the telephone....

Yes, I have an old wall phone on my kitchen wall. 40+ years old and still works like a champ. Even when electricity is out. I love that thing.

HI all you busy people.....
I just did online application for hubby for soc security... will be nice to not have to use our savings for all our income.. he is younger than me so had to wait till he was age eligible ….

I have to work on getting my office in some kind of order again.. it's become the dump it in there room...LOL! Problem is it doesn't have a ceiling fan yet so it gets really warm even with ac on... so may wait till sun goes on other side of house ...hubby is going out to inlaws to help with a project out there so may just watch movies …. nice being retired...LOL!

I have an old wall phone too that's at least 40 yrs old..has a dial... grands were fascinated by it … antique to them...LOL!

Well guess I better get back to filing papers and then take a lunch break... leftovers... can't seem to cook for just us two yet... but makes for lunch meals so that part is okay... hot here too. 91* right now , have had rain off and on the last couple weeks which kept it cooler but none expected till Sat now... have a good day all!
Nana

Hello.. Yes good to hear from you, Sherri. I had an old yellow wall phone, with a 25 ft cord. BUT I gave it to my BIL..I may have to ask for it back===we need one in our new garage.

DH wanted to just use cell phones now but thankfully we do not get the best cell reception here so as soon as the other house sells, we will get a land line here...

Hi all.

It has been so hot here...and 16 days with no rain. Our lawns are brown and crunchy. The heat seems to be coming earlier and staying longer each year....people are now installing air conditioners in their homes. Guess that will be on the future wish list for me as well. lol

Good to see you Sunny. We haven't had rain in 3 weeks to amount to anything. The cities are on water restriction again and our grass is dead. It's been horrible. I can't imagine life without an air conditioner.

Just made a run to pick up GB at daycare. DD is getting off work early and wants to try an ammonia recipe to strip the wax from her floors. I told her that she couldn't have the toddler in the house at the same time with the smell so he'll spend the night here.

The heat makes me tired...I couldn't imagine having to live with this all the time. I feel so bad for y'all in the hotter climate.

I agree with Tina. AND..it is much "warmer" in Southeran MO than in central IL

I do think you will deal better with the heat with an A.C. Unit or at least a window fan.

I'd love to have a window fan but the 'sand flies' come with it. That's the worst part...it is so hot but we get little biting flies that can fit through the window screens. It ook me 5 years to finally get my generator....I hope it takes less to get an air conditioner haha

We are taking the kids to a small farm show today...just a 30 minute drive away. The kids are more excited to go to McDonalds though.

Good Sunday Morning all,

I just paid a couple bills, headed out to store in a few to buy some round steak on sale.. hubby got one pkg yesterday , don't know why he didn't get more. it's 3 bucks off a lb.. its hot here too, in the high nineties but so far we are getting rain most every day so it cools off nicely in the evenings... I can not get on this site on my new ipad.. keeps telling me my sign in is wrong.. so I have to get on the reg comp or my laptop .. weird...
We had another death in the family yesterday, Joe's uncle on his Dad's side, so another trip to Yuma is coming this week sometime I think, haven't heard the details yet... not looking fwd to the heat there, it's supposed to hit 118 today... I have a feeling we will be taking my sis in law too , her hubby probably won't go since he has us to take her...

Well I am off to get ready to go get more round steak for the freezer... probably find something else we need too LOL! always do..
Have a good day all,

Nana

Good evening all!

I had a busy day. Our associate pastor had his last day at our church today..so we got up early & drive home for church and the farewell reception they held for the guy.

Trimmed on my blackberries tonight and also pulled some weeds. It was such a nice day ! Almost "fall-like". I should have worked a bit more outside.

Oh well..sweet dreams wavy

Hi all. It is raining...such a welcome sight. We have had three weeks of high temps that usually only last a day or two at most. I guess no matter where one lives it is a 'feast or famine' situation.

I have to call today to make some appt's to set up for roofing contractors. I need to get a full redo of the house roof next month...good bye savings account. bigshock

How is the gardening going for everyone?

Missouri today and probably until next week. Then in 2 weeks our Pastors kids will cut our grass. So then we will just have to go to get things out of the garage. I

Arguing with DH about when to go back to Worden now.

It finally cooled down to 99* now. I had pizza for dinner but everyone just snacked on a couple pieces and the rest went in the fridge for later. Probably tomorrow. Salads for dinner tonight.

Yes, moving can make a few things disappear...hope you find them soon.

It is another hot and humid day. I haven't baked in over two weeks...whether DH likes it or not he has been eating boxed snack cakes and packaged bread from the store lol

Hot here as well. Today I will wash some clothes for Valarie when I go to take care of the cats. She did leave the house all nice and clean/straight though.

Wow 100. That is bad...so sorry for such temps!

Chicken in the crock sounds so derful. I used to put chicken, carrot s and celery in the crock.with some liwuid. Then when the meat was done add some noodles and then turn up the heat and only cook until the noodles were done. I loved it..DH not so much.

That sounds like a good idea with the noodles. I need more crock recipes with this kind of heat.

Best pulled pork recipe is made in the crockpot. A pork tenderloin and a can of root beer...that's it. Then Baby Ray's sauce on it after it's pulled.
I need to use the crockpot more often, but it's hard to cook for one person. I guess I need to make stuff to freeze, but I hoard room in my freezer for my ice addiction.

Hi Cindy kissie

I have seen Baby Ray sauce at the big supermarket...that sounds like an easy recipe to try.

Thanks for the link Junie.

I need a bigger crock pot...mine has a hard time to fit a small chicken into it. I think I am going to ask for a table top roaster for Xmas...they go on sale at Walmart for $50 in December. It would work great outside.

It is supposed to rain later today...I'll believe it when I see it.

Yes I have a table top roaster. It has crock liner as well. My brother told me about it. It is wonderful. With it you have a smaller roaster and a larger crocknpot. I am very happy.

It is a GE 6-1/2 qt. Stainless steel slow cooker but as I said if you read the box it is a roaster and a slow cooker combination. I love it.

Going to spend the day at Val's today washing her clothes. I figure it will be nice to come home to less work to do. Beds are made also.

This morning I noticed a few wilted leaves on my bean plants....I hope it is not the start of blight.

June you're confusing me. Hope you don't get lost because I have no idea where to find you.

I think I posted here about Dr. Dan, my new dentist, who took over after my good dentist retired. He told me about all the plastic surgery his girlfriends dad could do to make me look so much better. I'm too old to call my dentist Dr. Dan. Anyway my hygienist retired too so I started looking for another dentist and thankfully found one in Monroe. I went 2 weeks ago for my first cleaning - thankfully - because day before yesterday one of my wisdom teeth chipped. I called my new dentist, made an appointment for 7:00 AM today and was out by 7:30. Love it.

sorry to confuse.

Most every Friday we go to Illinois so Rod can cut the grass and so we can bring another truck load of our stuff from "home" (read Worden) and bring it to Missouri and our house here. WE have been making the trips mostly all in ONE day...but I think from now on we will go Thursday afternoon & come home Friday afternoon.

Most of the other time we are in Kelso Missouri, Our address is Scott City though...Long story.....When it is all straight I will let you all know what is what,

well the first guy who looked at it wanted to buy it for like $10,000 less, and then make it contingent on him selling his house, which was not even on the market yet, and on and on. we came back with a counter offer which the rejected. next guy said the price was just what it should be and that is all we have heard...so it is still up for sale.

thanks for asking though.

Sheri, what kind of dentist makes a comment on plastic surgery? He should be reported to the ethics board.

It rained all night...thunder and lightning as well. It was nice to have it cool down a bit.

I took DD to town and gave her GG's school list. She bought everything....clothes and all. Only thing left to get is new sneakers..they had none left in her size.

Strange thing is....I could not find copper powder anywhere. Any advice for blight treatment would be appreciated. grin

I'm going to try the tbsp of baking soda/gallon of water mix. Strange thing is that the wilt is in my bush beans and not the climbers. I think I'll buy treated seed next year....just in case.

That is what I use for powdery mildew problems. I hope it works for your wilt. It will not harm the plants.

I used it as well for powdery mildew before...can't hurt to try for wilt.

I remember my grandfather using copper powder in the garden as a child...the bean seeds used to be pre-treated back then. They were a pretty pink color.

Yes our corn can come pretreated. I looked up bought and there was listed all kinds/brands of copper sprays powders and such...but nothing else that I saw. Good luck with the baking soda/water blend. I hope it works for you !

Oh dear Sunny. I think copper spray or copper powder is the only thing that will really help. Hope I'm wrong about that and the baking soda works.

A weird dentist is one who tells his patients they need plastic surgery. He told me more about himself than I would ever need to know. I'm not sure if he's just the nervous type who needs to continuously talk or if I just look so bad he thought his girlfriends dad would help me. Wish I would have thought to ask if he could get me a discount :)

Colt is coming tomorrow. Will be a busy week.

It'll be a two week wait with an order Junie...I might take a trip into town this week if need be. They had none at the local store...I hate having to drive an hour one way just to get to town.

I had the two grands Friday into yesterday...when I dropped GB off with his mother, GG decided to stay with them as well for the night. I have a day to myself and it is raining out. I'll probably end up cleaning and mopping lol

Well, yes I guess a drive is in order....sorry for the long turnaround time. We can order and have something at the store next day..or do the ads say. But I think if I am gonna order something, they can bring it to my door...

DH says we are going to Wal-Mart he needs a new alarm clock. It seems someone put his in a box and set it out in our garage. The heat got it and he had to throw it out. I know I did not, it was just setting in a box with other random things. I wrapped all the things that I packed and sealed the box.

I think I will also buy groceries.

Yes..my daughter did much of that when we were not living here yet. It saved my back a lot. I changed the order of what was in each cabinet. Yesterday I finally found my Pyrex containers and my 9 x 13 baking dishes. I think I am close to done with the kitchen.

Today I am sitting with the girls. Val has to prepare her school room. She is also gonna try to take Henry school shopping.!

I wish you all a great day !

Sounds like things are moving along Junie.

It is a windy day here...a welcome thing to see. I just put a pork roast in the oven, got to cook part of the meals before the heat sets in later. Laundry is going as well, I love the feel/smell of wind dried sheets. grin

How is the weather where you are Tina?

I would pay well for someone to put up a clothes line for me. I love to have air dried items also.
At the farm Rod put one up for me W/O me asking. Not since...p

Overcast here today. It may or may not rain/storm. We shall see..

I especially loved to use my clothesline in the spring and fall when there was a breeze.

No wrinkles but yet the clothes smell so wonderful.

one hour later......I am coming in to wish you all a Good Night & Sweet Dreams
and
to say this CH is closed and that I will open a new one...see you there....
