Hi all.

I was gone all day yesterday. I had to take DD to run errands/appt's...it was a long day. GG stayed with her for a sleepover so today I get a break.

Sheri, water based stain is safe for the exterior of the coop. I need to pick some up this week at the hardware store. The coop and run should be all finished today grin

I wish I was napping as well. But nope Rod & I were cleaning out the basement--aned we made a bit of a dent--but there is lots more to go.

I also weeded some and put some baking soda on the weeds in cracks of out patio---last year I tries it & yep it keep the cracks weed free all summer---I only need it to work until my house sells after all...LOL and no it is not up for sale yet..

Pizza in the oven & Rod is on his way to get us soda--YAY

I am going to hand wash some dishes then go to sleep. Sweet Dreams

Hi all.

I finished the coop (minus the stain) and even got my garden shed cleaned out. It was an eventful day yesterday.

Sheri, we buy our eggs at the store...there are no 'private' sellers here.

Tina, you want to come here & help?? We have a mess for sure.

Your coop looks great, Sunny. I bet your chickens are happy.

I am taking a break before I get back to emptying the basement.

4:36 pm.

Sunny I"m impressed. Will you let them out during the day?

I haven"t felt good today so I haven"t done anything other than straighten up a bit.

Terminix came and did a mosquito spray and a yard person came for an interview.

I bet being a 'yard man' is a good job to have where you live Sheri. It is almost a full year round job...hope they works out.

Do you still have your hired helper as well, Tina?

I have to attend my Uncle's funeral today...it took awhile to get his ashes from the cremation.

It's calling for rain for four days in a row...the snow is melting nicely.

Yes, Mark still works here when he has time from his job. Thank goodness.

I feel some better today thank you. The yard person is just one man who works another full time job. He seems nice and energetic but it's a big yard for one person to do AFTER he gets off his regular job so not sure about him. I've placed a call to another person who, I think, does it full time and am waiting for him to call and come look at the yard. Sunny a yard person is definitely a full time job here it's just hard to find people who will do what they say and show up.

Well it has been a while. Hoping my work is calming down a bit.

Bestofour, I have to say, where we are now, you cannot find a yard person. When we built this house, we decided to go all out and get a landscaper, or at least see how much they cost. Well that was a joke...they were all booked out till the NEXT YEAR! Really? I might be in the wrong business!
Missed talking to you guys, but just been real busy with work.
Also got my back deck flower boxes planted. Also my houseplants outside for summer. Put some of them in too hot of sun and they did burn, pulled them into shade and hoping for the best. I guess just too hot too quick.
I also have an elephant ear i am waiting to see if it froze over the winter, as I did not bring it in. I wonder if i can dig dirt away from it to see if it is still ok?

Have a great day!

Sheri: Good luck on finding a yard man. I am so glad you are feeling better.

Mary:
sounds like you have been moving along---good for you !!! We have missed you...

Sunny: Sorry for the death in the family, but glad for the melting snow.....

I am headed to sleep now--nite-nite

Hi all.

Well, I guess today I'll have to do the monthly budget.....it never works out in the end but I try lol

Our Income tax refund came in. There is enough to pay the land taxes with a bit left over to put in the emergency fund. That is always a good thing.

Have a good day ahead.

We have not got anything back yet...not sure we will.

I have been up for over an hour. Rod woke me when he got up, then it was hot in the bedroom. I bet I need a nap this afternoon.

Drinking coffee now.

mj, glad you were able to post. I was concerned you were sick. As far as the yard person, I'm not having any luck. One person called and said he can't take on another yard and I just got a message from one who came to look to give an estimate that said he can't do it weekly. I have one more coming this afternoon to give an estimate but he says he can only does yards on Saturday or Monday which I don't like. Who wants the yard cut on Monday so it will be all grown up by the weekend? I'm not sure what to do at this point. I can't do it because of allergies.

Sunny happy for you that you got money back. We ended up having to pay. I'm surprised you can grow blueberries in your climate.

I have tried transplanting wild blueberries with no luck....so I never even thought of buying plants. Last year I seen high bush varieties for sale so I will give it a go. I need to prep the soil with lots of peat moss apparently....as soon as the snow melts.

Sheri, why doesn't your husband do the yard? (if you don't mind me asking

I am surprised the berries do not grow where you are Tina....I thought you could grow anything there.

Blueberries, good idea, Sunny ! My SIL put out several blueberry bushes in their front landscaping. I am happy for the both of you.

Sheri, I hope that you find a yard person. I am confident that you will find the right person for the job. How are you feeling ?

Mary: beautiful clemantis. I miss not having one. I used to back at "the farm".

Watching my Soap now.... :)

Sunny you can ask me anything. When we first moved here 20 years ago we cut more than we do now and we did it. Mostly Johnny did because my worst allergies are trees and grass. With allergy shots I can at least go outside but when the cutting and trimming starts the allergies flare up. Then a friend was trying to start a lawn service, and Johnny the always willing man to help a person down on their luck, hired him. He moved to the beach and we did it again for a while until someone else came along needing a job. Then the longer we lived here the worse the traffic got and Johnny started getting home later and later plus Ginger was on the ball tour then everyone else was born and got on the ball tour and we wanted to spend our off time doing fun stuff instead of cutting grass. Now Johnny works at plumbing full time and at the church almost full time so there isn"t any yard time. We"ve done it for periods of time through the years and we may have to figure out how to work it in again.

Mj your clematis is pretty. Do you have to end up tying it up?

I agree...hiring out in your situation is a good thing Sheri. I misunderstood and thought your husband was retired.

It is raining today, there is no school for two days because of meetings and DH has the flu.....I might hide somewhere lol

Sunny I'm beginning to wonder if I've got the flu. I just can't shake whatever this is. You guys miss more school than I've ever known.

Sunny I've probably posted that Johnny is going to retire because he says he's going to retire from plumbing, even announced it from the pulpit at church last January, but he just can't make himself do it. When he tells his customers he can't get to them they say they'll wait on him. People don't feel safe having strangers in their home these days and Johnny has a good reputation. He hasn't advertised in 10 -15 years and doesn't even have his company name on his van anymore but people keep calling.

Junie he says at this point he'd rather work to make the money to pay someone than have to deal with me about the yard. It needs to be cut all at once every week during this time of year and sometimes he can't get it cut all at once. Drives me crazy.

I have to do it ALL at once also...then I listen to DH lecture me that I am wearing myself out.

I just got back from a grocery run. They had a special today, pork loin chops for $2 pound. I took the maximum $40 amount allowed. thumbup

It's calling for snow flurries tonight.

~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.
