Hi all.

I was gone all day yesterday. I had to take DD to run errands/appt's...it was a long day. GG stayed with her for a sleepover so today I get a break.

Sheri, water based stain is safe for the exterior of the coop. I need to pick some up this week at the hardware store. The coop and run should be all finished today grin

I wish I was napping as well. But nope Rod & I were cleaning out the basement--aned we made a bit of a dent--but there is lots more to go.

I also weeded some and put some baking soda on the weeds in cracks of out patio---last year I tries it & yep it keep the cracks weed free all summer---I only need it to work until my house sells after all...LOL and no it is not up for sale yet..

Pizza in the oven & Rod is on his way to get us soda--YAY

I am going to hand wash some dishes then go to sleep. Sweet Dreams

Hi all.

I finished the coop (minus the stain) and even got my garden shed cleaned out. It was an eventful day yesterday.

Sheri, we buy our eggs at the store...there are no 'private' sellers here.

Your coop looks great, Sunny. I bet your chickens are happy.

I am taking a break before I get back to emptying the basement.

4:36 pm.

Sunny I"m impressed. Will you let them out during the day?

I haven"t felt good today so I haven"t done anything other than straighten up a bit.

Terminix came and did a mosquito spray and a yard person came for an interview.

I bet being a 'yard man' is a good job to have where you live Sheri. It is almost a full year round job...hope they works out.

Do you still have your hired helper as well, Tina?

I have to attend my Uncle's funeral today...it took awhile to get his ashes from the cremation.

It's calling for rain for four days in a row...the snow is melting nicely.

I feel some better today thank you. The yard person is just one man who works another full time job. He seems nice and energetic but it's a big yard for one person to do AFTER he gets off his regular job so not sure about him. I've placed a call to another person who, I think, does it full time and am waiting for him to call and come look at the yard. Sunny a yard person is definitely a full time job here it's just hard to find people who will do what they say and show up.

Well it has been a while. Hoping my work is calming down a bit.

Bestofour, I have to say, where we are now, you cannot find a yard person. When we built this house, we decided to go all out and get a landscaper, or at least see how much they cost. Well that was a joke...they were all booked out till the NEXT YEAR! Really? I might be in the wrong business!
Missed talking to you guys, but just been real busy with work.
Also got my back deck flower boxes planted. Also my houseplants outside for summer. Put some of them in too hot of sun and they did burn, pulled them into shade and hoping for the best. I guess just too hot too quick.
I also have an elephant ear i am waiting to see if it froze over the winter, as I did not bring it in. I wonder if i can dig dirt away from it to see if it is still ok?

Have a great day!

Sheri: Good luck on finding a yard man. I am so glad you are feeling better.

Mary:
sounds like you have been moving along---good for you !!! We have missed you...

Sunny: Sorry for the death in the family, but glad for the melting snow.....

I am headed to sleep now--nite-nite

Hi all.

Well, I guess today I'll have to do the monthly budget.....it never works out in the end but I try lol

Our Income tax refund came in. There is enough to pay the land taxes with a bit left over to put in the emergency fund. That is always a good thing.

Have a good day ahead.

We have not got anything back yet...not sure we will.

I have been up for over an hour. Rod woke me when he got up, then it was hot in the bedroom. I bet I need a nap this afternoon.

Drinking coffee now.

mj, glad you were able to post. I was concerned you were sick. As far as the yard person, I'm not having any luck. One person called and said he can't take on another yard and I just got a message from one who came to look to give an estimate that said he can't do it weekly. I have one more coming this afternoon to give an estimate but he says he can only does yards on Saturday or Monday which I don't like. Who wants the yard cut on Monday so it will be all grown up by the weekend? I'm not sure what to do at this point. I can't do it because of allergies.

Sunny happy for you that you got money back. We ended up having to pay. I'm surprised you can grow blueberries in your climate.

I have tried transplanting wild blueberries with no luck....so I never even thought of buying plants. Last year I seen high bush varieties for sale so I will give it a go. I need to prep the soil with lots of peat moss apparently....as soon as the snow melts.

Sheri, why doesn't your husband do the yard? (if you don't mind me asking

I am surprised the berries do not grow where you are Tina....I thought you could grow anything there.

Blueberries, good idea, Sunny ! My SIL put out several blueberry bushes in their front landscaping. I am happy for the both of you.

Sheri, I hope that you find a yard person. I am confident that you will find the right person for the job. How are you feeling ?

Mary: beautiful clemantis. I miss not having one. I used to back at "the farm".

Watching my Soap now.... :)

Sunny you can ask me anything. When we first moved here 20 years ago we cut more than we do now and we did it. Mostly Johnny did because my worst allergies are trees and grass. With allergy shots I can at least go outside but when the cutting and trimming starts the allergies flare up. Then a friend was trying to start a lawn service, and Johnny the always willing man to help a person down on their luck, hired him. He moved to the beach and we did it again for a while until someone else came along needing a job. Then the longer we lived here the worse the traffic got and Johnny started getting home later and later plus Ginger was on the ball tour then everyone else was born and got on the ball tour and we wanted to spend our off time doing fun stuff instead of cutting grass. Now Johnny works at plumbing full time and at the church almost full time so there isn"t any yard time. We"ve done it for periods of time through the years and we may have to figure out how to work it in again.

Mj your clematis is pretty. Do you have to end up tying it up?

I agree...hiring out in your situation is a good thing Sheri. I misunderstood and thought your husband was retired.

It is raining today, there is no school for two days because of meetings and DH has the flu.....I might hide somewhere lol

Sunny I'm beginning to wonder if I've got the flu. I just can't shake whatever this is. You guys miss more school than I've ever known.

Sunny I've probably posted that Johnny is going to retire because he says he's going to retire from plumbing, even announced it from the pulpit at church last January, but he just can't make himself do it. When he tells his customers he can't get to them they say they'll wait on him. People don't feel safe having strangers in their home these days and Johnny has a good reputation. He hasn't advertised in 10 -15 years and doesn't even have his company name on his van anymore but people keep calling.

Junie he says at this point he'd rather work to make the money to pay someone than have to deal with me about the yard. It needs to be cut all at once every week during this time of year and sometimes he can't get it cut all at once. Drives me crazy.

I have to do it ALL at once also...then I listen to DH lecture me that I am wearing myself out.

I just got back from a grocery run. They had a special today, pork loin chops for $2 pound. I took the maximum $40 amount allowed. thumbup

It's calling for snow flurries tonight.

Bestofour I agree on the cut some of the lawn and leave some. That would drive me crazy too. And on my clematis being tied up, nope it is not. I tried to arrange the vines so that they will climb up and not bunch up at the ground so much, but they break soooo easily, that i just decided to leave as is. I think the top would have been bushier, if I had just left it alone.

Anyone reading this, if you suspect you have the flu, be careful. It put me in bed for about 10 days and I NEVER miss work, but I did this time. My DH, only stepped into the room and handed me fluids and/or soup. When he "visited" he sat on a chair on the other side of the room and even slept in the spare bedroom until i was past the contagious stage. We took no chances and he did not get it. Very blessed! It is a nasty thing to have, so just take it seriously.

Well, off my soap box. Everyone have a wonderful day. I will post some pics later of flowers... in fact I will probably drive you guys crazy...I am just so excited things are warmer and flowers are blooming! yay

Here is the petunia's i planted just the other day. I wanted them to look like they were in the bucket and the bucket fell over, so they spilled out...I saw that in a magazine and thought it was pretty. The magazine looked a little more like they had spilled, but i like them. The other pic is a close up of my clematis. There are so many more opened today too.

Great pics Mary, thanks for sharing.

My SIL called that she sold her home...she is a widow and her large house is too much for her. So apparently I will be helping her pack up this week. She has an 12 day closing...jeepers.

Good luck with the sale Junie.

What's the plans for this weekend Tina?

Pretty flowers mj. I like the bucket idea too.

Sunny 12 days! Gosh. She better get busy. Hope she has a place lined up to move to.

Junie good luck with the sale. Hope she makes lots of $$$.

I'm going to the doctor at 1:30 because I just can't get better. I just can't imagine he'll do anything but we shall see. My right ear is hurting a little bit so maybe amoxicillin at least.

Done for the day & supper is over as well. We did very well, or should I say, Rodney did very well today. but then when you sell huge BBQ grills and welders, that is easy to do.

me I may have made $40.00...perhaps....

going to jump in the tub and then chill...I hope everyone had a great day,

Congrats on the heifer Sunny. Can you post a picture of the calf. I like watching Dr. Pol and the other vet shows. I never realized so many cows and horses had such trouble giving birth.

Will $40.00 pay for ceramics June? Or a hair trim?

Got Amoxcillin at the doc. Can"t wait to feel better.

congrats on the heifer, Sunny,
No, it will not pay for ceramics, Sheri---I will probably just put it away for future reference.... I hope the antiibiotic helps, and soon too.

We will do the sale tomorrow & then perhaps let it go until the town yard sales & do it again.

watching TV now-- wavy

Well sitting here and not one person is coming...2 area towns are having town yard sales this weekend...so I am guessing that is where they are.

Good news is we will be able to close up earlier than expected.

I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful day.

Junie hope the yard sale traffic picked up and everything got sold.

I feel some better today but I went to the farmers market which wore me out.

Anyone having special food or sweets for Cinco de Mayo?

well how nice---I posted from my tablet & guess what--it shows on my tablet but not here...

Bless you Sheri, but today we had 3 customers today & made exactly $5.00. My advice on yard sales is this.....DO NOT have them---and if you MUST have one---display only large ticket items so that it is much easier to clean up. THIS girl does not want to ever do another yard sale....ever..... uhuhh

No special foods here..... why

Junie you posted in the vegetable garden forum.

One of my sisters had a yard sale once and said never again.

I"m tired of doing nothing but doing something wears me out. I keep falling asleep.

Happy Monday from me as wrll...

The girls are taking a nap and Henry & Papas are outside. The girls would still be eating spaghetti with sauce if I had let them... But I thought 2 helpings with green beans was enough...

Washing clothes now...Golly 3 girls can sure make a pile of laundry, fast.

Man I can't imagine the laundry. Colt would eat spaghetti every meal including breakfast if his mother would let him. When he's here he does don't tell her. :)

Pretty calf and girl Sunny.

I took half a Benadryl for this cough since I'm allergic to codeine and slept from around 3:30 until just now. I hope I never have to take the hard stuff.

You'll never find a man more cranky then one with the man-flu.

My snow is melting nicely. Our province is seeing it's worst snow melt/flood in over 100 years....I am grateful to be on higher ground. My back yard has a small 'river' running through it to the ditch.

Have a good day everyone.

I thought I had already posted here. I'm hungover on Benadryl so who knows where I posted.

Sunny sorry your DH is sick. This is day 10 for me and I'm sick of being sick. I keep trying to pretend I'm all better but I'm getting sick of pretending too. :) I'm having some kind of an allergic reaction to something and now my face is all welped up and itching like crazy.

Gracious ladies...take care of you and yours......and no one share their illnesses.

Kids are all napping, Rod just finished cutting the grass and I just got out of the tub.

It is beautiful outdoors...

I spent the afternoon shoveling snow. It's the only way to help it melt faster.....I have a few bare patches on my lawn as well as 3 ft mounds of snow. It also kept me outside and away from DH. lol

I need to get my garden area melted out to prep it for potatoes at the end of May.

Good luck with searching Junie.

We got some hot weather yesterday....the snow is melting so fast, it is awesome. I even started raking the bare areas. My garden area is fully melted out grin

Another 'outdoor day' ahead for the afternoon. Have a good one.

Hope you find a house Junie. Ging hasn't had any luck.

Hi all....rain and cold today. Guess I'll do some baking.

I have noticed deer tracks in my yard this week....it better be gone by plantig time.

GG is going to her mom's for a sleepover later...I also need to pick up my mother's day gift for my mom, she gets lobsters..the boat will be in for 3 pm. I had to reserve them ahead. I always get them a few days early because the price jumps on Mother's Day.

Have a good one.

We do celebrate a day early because with all of us living in different directions it's hard to get to church and then get together for lunch on a Sunday.

Good thinking by your daughters Junie.

It's 94° today so I'm glad to be inside. This is our August weather so what will August be? Hate to think.

94° today and dry. This is early to not be able to go outside. It's supposed to drop to the 80's tomorrow and then rain Wednesday. I sure hope so. I can't stand the heat.

3 truckloads later the garage is almost empty. And it is empty enough to allow Rod to put his truck away so the predicted hail is not a problem.

Things just seem to multiply in a garage. I wish I could fill a truck in DH's storage shed....it takes forever to find exactly what I want in there.

Morning all,

Hi, was gone for weekend to PNX to see MIL , and inlaws MIL is over 100 now and still hanging in. she has dementia but will know us for a few min sometimes... hubby got to play golf one day with his brothers and bilaw so that was good for him, he told me I could go to Apple store and get a new I pad for Mothers Day... so got a Pro... love it! big enough for my book collection and for me to see easily...not much heavier than one I had the kids gave me, will last till I don't know how to use it anymore I hope!
Its so nice here, getting warmer but cools off at dark nicely... I am getting so walking doesn't kill me so starting to take walks again too... maybe take off some more weight.. that would be nice for sure... well gotta go... got to shop before it gets to hot... and haven't even made my bed yet.... LOL! Have a good day all!

Nana: glad that you are feeling better & kudos on the nice Mother's day gift !

Yes no storms today here so I got to ceramics--I so love Tuesdays....and yes we donated 1 truckload to a church thrift store, and then the other 2 truckloads to Goodwill.

sorry for your storage shed, Sunny. Sometimes I wonder where all the stuff we accumulate comes from......

My arm and shoulder is aching....I knew I did too much. Middle age is not for sissy's haha

DH still has a cough. He isn't as cranky so...he must be on the mend.

It is a cold day here. It's snowing to the West of us....hoping it stays there.

8:56 AM EST

Where is Tina with my good Wednesday morning to start my day off right?

Sunny I'm middle age in dog years. Sorry your shoulder is aching but hopefully you got it all raked. Like your DH I still have a cough. It seems everyone I know has a cough. It just won't go away.

We got some much needed rain and the temperature has dropped a little. I'm so glad but I forgot to put my little tomato seedlings back in the little greenhouse so I don't know what I'm going to find out there this morning. They may have all blown to kingdom come. I have enough tomato plants already planted but for some reason these seeds are taking longer to get big enough. Wonder why some seeds want to be so contrary.

Good to see you post here Nana. That's a nice gift. I have an ipad but I don't know what kind it is. Johnny bought it for me. I love it. I haven't loaded books on it. Do you use it like a Kindle?

Hello/ Yes about the cough--I have heard people say it hangs on for months.

Sheri, I hope your tomato seedlings survived the winds/rain. I think different varieties grow at different rates...we will hope they are ok when you can check on them.

I was all packed up to take another load to the thrift shop. BUT now I am waiting to hear back from a DRs. office. They have my DH's insurance messed up and they will not call me back.. GRRRRR

Today, if I ever get to get out of here, I am going to buy enough flowers to fill the pot I keep on the front porch. Curb appeal you know.....

Afternoon,

Just finished up middle of month bill paying... Yay have extra money! Yes Sheri, I have all my books on the IPad,, it's really more like a small laptop it has so many new features on it... got a bag yesterday so I can carry it safely .. won't have to lug my laptop with me when we go out of town anymore...

Congrats Junie on getting organized before moving, we gave so much stuff away at last minute since our uhaul and vehicles wouldn't hold anymore.. even filled the ones we towed and still gave stuff away I would have like to keep but oh well... hubby is a hoarder so he is already starting to replace his "stuff" LOL! lots of garage sales in our new neighborhood.. and lots of ex military families or retirees... I got a casserole type dish blue and white.. with a lid for 5 dollars last week... hand made in Poland... it is so pretty! and he found a old wooden ladder that I can going to clean up and restain so I can add shelves and put my Christmas village on it this year... or at least some of it...

Well have to go get ready to go grocery shopping . it will be hot but slept in this morning , both of us... retirement is making us both lazy I guess.... LOL!

Have a wonderful day all!
Nana

Good afternoon.

I just got back from taking the car load to the thrift shop & then to a local nursery. Boy the price of plants have sure gone up. Plus it seems they do not have small plants this year--all are in larger more expensive pots. I did find a few smaller/less expensive of what I wanted...but boy I can remember when the kids were small, 2 full boxes of flowers were just under $20.00. now 1 box 3/4 full was twice that....times how they are achangin'. why
Good news is I was able to find just what I wanted for the pot that will stay on my front porch to be used as curb appeal.

Hi all.

I am 'itching' to go flower shopping as well. Walmart always has great deals on small annuals, Junie. I find the nursery has better flowers but at ten times the price.

Not sure what today holds...it is cold and windy outside. Have a good one. flwr

The flowers I just bought are about all that I will buy, but if I find I need to add to my flower bed in the back, I will definitely go to Wal-Mart.

Staying home today.

Good morning. I'm not buying flowers or plants of any kind right now. There is a drastic need in my yard but I need to repair my water system first. Drought did much damage here.

yes, I can understand that, Tina----there is time yet--first things first.

I just finished planting the flowers I did buy...and they all fit perfectly. If I had of used the larger pot that I usually use, I would have needed the 1 plant that I bought for me. (a tri-colored sweet potato vine) but as it is, it is perfect. When it fills in it will be nice indeed. I will take a photo soon.

Is piping the problem Tina? I hope it is an easy/cheap fix.

I decided to go get a few groceries at the local store...it's a quick way to get rid of $100 with little to show for it. It is too cold to do anything outdoors today.

Tina ditto on the hoping it's an easy and inexpensive fix.

Junie I've read that having a few flowers outside helps sell a house.

I got some green peas from the garden today. That's all because it's damp and dreary out there. I need to go to the grocery store.

Tina: I agree with Sunny & Sheri.

Sheri: I have read that as well, and that is the reason why I made up the large pot.

No, my problems are not with my underground plumbing so much. That seems to be holding up well. But beyond the the faucets, I use various drip systems and micro-sprinklers, etc. They've fallen prey to critters looking for water and stuff and it is more than I can do right now.

I sent the day out with my cousin..then when I got home I had a nap.

Sunny, a trampoline---you are a good Grammy.

Dodge: sorry for your rain & tire loss. I hope you get dryer weather soon and are able to get the wagon fixed as well.

What kind of tire, Barb?

My snow is gone....as of today. Can you see me smiling? lol

I spent five hours outside doing yard work. I set up two old wooden wagon wheels against the house in two different flower beds. Things are just poking out of the ground....my daffodils on the South side of my house are ready to bloom.

Me either.

Grandboy called last night. He needs to go in a black car to a white house for a 'sweepover' lol I guess I need to take the hint. I'll go for hiim at lunch time.

I also will stop at the garden centre by DD's. They got their seed potatoes in. The red variety this year they have is Chieftan...I never tried them before. You know you're crazy when you're excited to buy seed potatoes haha

Sunny I like red potatoes and that"s what I usually grow but this year I planted russet because they were the first seeds I saw. I love digging potatoes. Guess we"re both a little crazy. 😂. Glad the snow is gone and hope you"ll post some photos when you get it all together. We used to have a trampoline but we never painted it and sure as heck never took it apart. You go girl.

Dodge I had a wheel problem on my wagon a while back and ended up getting a new one. It seems once the problems started they wouldn"t stay fixed.

Critters will surely tear things up Tina. I know from first hand experience that squirrel will.

Good morning !

The DH woke me at around 5:15 ish. So I saw the wedding.

Then I had an hour nap. Watching recaps now......

Sunny. Little ones are ever so cute. Enjoy him while you are "cool".

Sheri: I love red potatoes. I am so envious of you.

Tina: I hate squirrels. We have a lot around here, and until this year the pretty much left us alone. Now apparently my yard is THE place to be.

Junie I think red potatoes are better for boiling but white potatoes are better for frying. Taste wise to me anyway.

I'm watching a show about hummingbirds on the Nature channel. They mate for life. So I guess the ones that visit my yard yearly come as pairs. Interesting. And in high altitudes they get as big as robins because they adapt to the oxygen level. Nature is amazing.

Sheri, we have to take apart trampolines, swings and such here....the heavy snow destroys them.

I seen my first hummer on the 18th here.

I got my potato seed and onions sets. grin

Wow. are we ever over on the 100 posts...tag you're it. lol
