GG is off to school. I have to head out in a few to clean more snow....I am ready for spring. February is the shortest month....but it seems to be the longest here.

Good morning. I've been up awhile but got drawn into the news. I look for good things in there. It cheers me up.
Happy February. A short month. From a person that gets paid monthly, that is good news. It means my next payday is here sooner.

well, I went for a check-up at my cardiologist's office & i am doing well. My sore muscle (I guess) is still sore but the pain is manageable..so carol is doing well, thanks for asking.

No!, NO I did not ! I did think of it...but after he told me I had bought enough meat (4 pkgs) I did not think it was a good time for me to be buying butter. Note: I melted some of the country crock to put on my popcorn, and it was like eating warm oil..

I think Mr. Groundhog said 6 more weeks of winter. Maybe that's good news for you Sunny :) I think you get more exercise than the rest of us put together cleaning your snow.
Junie do you have a farmers market you can check out? That's where I first found the people where I get my butter and eggs.
Tina my sister gets aggravated at me because I seldom watch the news and I try not to read the political posts everyone puts on FB. I've even stopped watching the Today show. She says I'm an uninformed old person and she's right and I don't care. :)

we only have seasonal farmers markets from May until October. Well unless I drive 45 minutes or mire to St. Louis. I can get butter at the store I go to--Rod just uses a small store closer to us. I do not like it as they tend not to remove expired foods..it take a lot longer to shop there, because of date checking.
I have not heard what the Groundhog here said today. Which is odd as they usually talk about it on TV.
I am feeling better----YAY

If we had groundhogs, they would see their shadows and we would have more winter. Winter lasts 45 more days whatever the critters say.

Yep, I agree....winter will last as long as it will last....Groundhog or no...... I "stole" the following form my Bank web site : Punxsutawney Phil, the famous weather-predicting groundhog, saw his shadow this morning. That means we will be in for six more weeks of winter. Stay warm until spring! I want some rice pudding..but I am out of long rice....  ...oh well

Today was supposed to be a Winter Festival Day for kids at a location near my DD's. Well, it is minus -29*F out there today....we will be staying home and avoiding frost bite.

Valarie & the kids just left from their visit. It was such fun. We also went out to eat to a small place uptown here. The lady was ever so helpful.
Poor Henry was sad he was leaving so quickly. he began making up reasons why he had to go back to my house......
Finally his Mom said she would write down on his calendar when he was coming back to visit. (the 17th & 18th), That seems to appease him.

They are coming back for that weekend (Feb. 17-18th) for a joint Family Birthday party which will be on the 17th.
It will be for the 3 triplets & 2 of their 2nd cousins (their parents are all 1st cousins) so I do not need to set up a party---however, we are going down to babysit the following weekend, so I could make up some type of festivities for that night,,,thanks for the idea.

Time is flying by. Hard to believe the girls will be 2. The 17th is also my ex husbands birthday but I don't think he'd be much fun at a party. That's how I remember it anyway :)

Yes time is flying by, Sheri. The girls were born February 22, 2016..their DUE DATE was May 25, 2016.
So, yes they will be 2.....although Valarie goes by May 25th for things that are important. Bless you both for remembering that they will be 2.

Hi all. It is storming here...again. It's either bitter cold or snow shoveling in the forecast. I did get to the grocers yesterday and loaded up on fruits and veggies. My health will appreciate it....my pocketbook, not so much.

Hi! we just got back from trying out the new restaurant in the next town. Very nice & clean & the prices were very reasonable too. Best thing is they will serve Breakfast ALL day !!! (Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out.)
Soon I am headed to a Celebration of Life for an old friend that passed away last week. Poor guy would have been 65 in August,

Hi all.
I think having these new 'celebrations of life' are a good idea. It gives people a chance to share all emotions...to tell a story and laugh, to share the loss and cry.
No school again today for the whole province. We had extreme cold, a snow storm and this a.m. it is freezing rain that is falling....all within a 24 hour span.

The 37 year old son of friends of our died. He had a genetic heart defect and has been on blood pressure medicine all his life and for some reason decided to have a it "fixed". Had a stent placed, which people do every day, the stent migrated, which they sometimes do and are then put back in place, shunting his blood away from his colon, his entire colon died and it killed him. Such a strange happenstance of events. What is considered a routine procedure became fatal in a short amount of time.
Sunny, how many snow days are added into GG's school calendar? Do a lot of people in your area home school? One of my sisters home schooled for a while but gave it up because her 3 children constantly said they wanted to quit school.
Johnny took Andy in for a bath and allergy shot today so I'll have to pick him up in a little while. Got a chicken in the crock pot so I'm set for the afternoon.

Sheri, about 10 years ago they have shortened the March break from 2 weeks to 1 and added an extra week to June. Home schooling is non existent here. So sorry for the loss of such a young man. Not sure what today holds besides baking. I just finished the clean up from the storm....in time for the one tomorrow night.

When I was little my mom would drop me off at my grandma's house and I'd wave to my grandma and run straight to the backyard where my grandpa was waiting and he would lift me over the fence to Mr. Schwartz where I would go into his chicken coop and get an egg. The reverse transfer would take place and I would run that egg in to my grandmother and she would cook it for me.
How much pre-planning that took to make me smile. And I'm still smiling 65 years later.

That is a wonderful memory, Tina. You had/have a wonderful family.
Smile about...My Grandchildren......
My DD post many video's the the kids so I do not miss the "little things".
The latest 2 have been as follows:
Henry spoke on how he was going to take Gravel and use his little rake to fix a crack in their hardwood floor.
Then I have seen a video of the girls kissing each other & making big smacking sounds.
My smile is BIG !

I thought Rod was going out to run some errands for himself--I was so happy..but alas he changed his mind.
I have done dishes cleaned the kitchen & did some things for the guy that owns the ceramic shop that I go to. I think so laundry is on the agenda next.

It has poured rain here all day. I forgot to go get my allergy shot today. Hope I don't have to drop back too much. Tina, I have been trying to think of a good childhood memory and don't have one. My sisters and I talk about this all time. Our growing up years were horrible. My mothers parents were dead and my fathers parents hated us and my father was a horrible man and my mother was severely depressed and sat in her closet a lot of the time. I do have good memories with my children and grand children. Darbi had her first college softball game yesterday and we went. They won. Darbi likes college life.

back from Wal-Mart. Watching my Soap opera. While I sit here, there is laundry in the washer. Rodney needs a part-time job.....for whatever reason I cannot work when he is home.

I have been dealing with 'Snow-mageddon' here. The windows are shoveled, the gate is clean and the shed roofs are all shoveled. The house roof can wait until tomorrow...whether it likes it or not.
I need to make a Walmart run also...if I can arrange a day for it somewhere. I think I'd work less if I had a 'real' job.

OMG..snow-mageddon. I hate this time of year. I have no idea how you do it, it just never ends. You have my sympathies. I trust your DH knows just what you do around the house, right ???? My whole married life I have said that "If I had a real job" I would work far less. I still think that way. ambulance or cop cars are sounding in the neighborhood.....

Got my allergy injection today. I wasn't considered late after all. Yay.
A little snow goes a long way for me. I don't think I'd appreciate the beauty of it if it was here all the time. Supposed to be 68 here Sunday. Raining but warm.
Junie, do you think Rod will ever get a part time job? Can't imagine having Johnny here all day every day and I'm sure he feels the same about me.

I think he is aware. and honestly he would like a part-time job but the radiation he had has played a number on him. While he is completely recovered, he does not think he should be working, even part time. i am hoping that when it is warm out he will be outside more and will spend more time at my father's property. I can hope anyway.

I have to take DD to run errands and go for groceries this afternoon. GG is going for a sleepover with her as well....much to her jealous brother's dismay.

Sunny, seems living in your area is not for the faint of heart. What happens when people are elderly and the weather is too bad for a service to come clean off the roof? Do you here of roofs caving in a lot in that situation? Does DD ever let brother sleep over at the same time?
Junie, maybe Rod should take up playing an instrument. He might enjoy it.
I'm going to get my hair flat ironed today for the funeral tomorrow. Don't want to scare everyone with this curly, sticking out mop of mine. And then going to hang some pictures in Johnny's office at the church.

They were together like 7 years, then Rod went away to Flight school. He did not complete the course. But he never went back to the Band.
Rod is gone for the day.. I am cleaning--(yea well I will go back to it when I am done here)

Get him a used XBox 360 at Gamestop and a copy of Rockband with the drum kit; way cheaper (and quieter) than buying a drum kit (unless its just after Christmas, lol); he might have fun...

I will suggest that, but I am thinking he will say no to the idea. When my oldest was little the 2 of them would "play drums" upstairs. Around 1993 he sold his drums. It was a sad day.

Sheri, there are a few men in the area that shovel roofs for cash money. There have been many roof cave-ins and damaged roofs over the years from not clearing snow. Every year it seems a barn gets the worst of it at a farm. I'll shovel until I can't..then I'll hire out if need be. It sure is a lot cheaper than dealing with the snow then the mess my mother and SIL had to deal with from the roof leaks from the weight pressure. They learned the hard way. Not sure what today holds. DH has the day off and is already gone to help an elderly farmer...there is never a fear of having him underfoot it seems DD has taken the kids to the animal shelter and rescued a cat. They picked a three year old, female, spayed grey tabby. At the shelter, they take all the cats out of the cages in a room for you to play with a few times to choose. She was the friendliest of them all. The kids are so excited...not sure if the cat will be

Aw, a rescue cat ! How nice. If I thought Rod would allow it, I would find a cat that did not shed. At the farm we always had cats that were litter trained but that lived outside. That way if they got sick, or had kittens, or if the weather called for it, we could bring them in.
Overcast here....we also have a forecast for a wintery mix.

Javanese (sheds very little)
Bengal
Laperm
Russian Blue (sheds 1-2 times a year)
Siberian (loose hairs will stay put until the cat is brushed out)

No, no allergies. when we moved here I had Emily's cat living here with us for a few months. "Tigger" had such bad shedding that I had a real mess. While I would like a cat I think that if I was lucky enough to get one it would have to be one that either did not shed much or did not shed at all.

We have 2 rescued cats but they live outside because a lot of people in my family are highly allergic to their dander. When we had ours spayed Johnny put them on the closed in porch and taped the door with duct tape but after 2 days I couldn't go in the kitchen, which makes me think it's more than the dander that bothers me. It's horrible to be this way because I'd like to be able to pet my cats.
Johnny's a drummer too. We have a set up in what I call the music room that say The Johnny Major Band, a setup at a friends house, 2 sets in the attic. His son has his own set up in his garage.

wow how cool for Johnny. My youngest girl had a set that one uses with some video game or other....Rod was very pleased that she had those. I will say g'nite now in case I do not make it back. Sweet Dreams

Good Morning ! We got a layer of ice here last night. Then a cold front went thru so the ice did not melt in time for today's usual schedule. No Church & so no eating lunch out. I offered to make Rod eggs for breakfast even though I do not cook on Sundays. BUT I did not have meat to go with the eggs and I did not offer to make potatoes & biscuits as well, so he said no thanks & he ate veggies & butter bread for Breakfast. I had peanut butter toast. I hope the ice goes away, I have errands to run tomorrow.

Peanut butter is what Teddy had for breakfast. And some cream of wheat. Which is my breakfast of choice on cold, windy mornings.

you know I have not thought of cream of wheat in awhile thanks. I enjoy it for Breakfast as well.

For the last few years my choice in hot cereal has been oatmeal. But I bought some cream of wheat on a craving and it gets me warmed up.

Today is a clean and mop day. We got a thin layer of ice through the night as well...but it has a thin layer of snow under it so all is well.

Wow I did not come in this morning. I did go out and buy my last of 5 birthday presents for Saturday's birthday party. And they are all wrapped.
Tomorrow is ceramics. Wednesday I plan on doing baking. Thursday is housecleaning, and Friday is grocery shopping.

I love oatmeal too. We used to eat Cream of Wheat and Farina but haven't in years. I think we stopped when I decided to try and cut carbs. Sure is good on cold, rainy days though.
Sunny, I cleaned and mopped the whole house today too.
Tuesday is allergy shot day.
