The snow is cleared and I am going to GG's luncheon today. Hot turkey with all the trimmings, they did a great job with the meal last year.
I also plan to hand deliver the last of the Christmas cards today on the same trip.

I had to update today. Just getting back online. It is good to have it all fresh and new. I hope they keep our net neutrality because going back to dial-up speeds sucks.

well today I wrapped & wrapped & wrapped gifts. Tomorrow all that is left to wrap are my oldest daughter's gifts.
Then next Sunday I will begin to wrap the Virginia Johnson's gifts. In the mean time there is a party to go to on Saturday.

Good Morning !  Sunny, if you find a way to hid inside, please share. I need to go out today and while it is not as cold here as it is by you..I do not like it. Good news is tomorrow & Sunday it is supposed to be in the 50's. Then cold again. WE are all going to have pneumonia soon..it needs to either get cold & stay that way or keep with the mild temps to my notion.

Jonni finally applied for health insurance. She turned 26 this year and needed to purchase adult insurance and not be through me anymore. So she got in just under the wire. (Well, for the national stuff. I didn't tell her that the final date in Ca is really Jan 31st. )
I didn't nag her, just reminded every couple of weeks.

Glad that Jonni is covered now. I am sure it makes a momma feel goods to know that her child is protected.
Today I will be making a pie & Green Bean casserole, & then cleaning the bathrooms & doing laundry. The party doe snot begin until after 3
I need to work out where I will put my Grandchildren's toy boxes. They usually get put into the living room so the girl's room is clear for the 2 pack N plays that need to go in with the crib. BUT with the tree up in the living room that is not possible.

I have it figured out--some will go under the crib. some on the dies of one of the extra chairs in the Living room & one box will go in front of the fireplace--it is 61*F today, so no danger of wanting to light the fireplace tomorrow.

Doing nothing gets old pretty fast...boredom is not my thing.
Today I'll pick up GG then take DD for a few groceries.....might even treat myself at the coffeeshop in town. They make a delicious sour cream donut.

Good evening everyone. Valarie & Family just left. We had a wonderful Christmas day here. The girls went to bed late & so they slept while everyone else opened up their gifts..and then we got the girls up & they opened up thier gifts. Heidi was all about opening packages..the other 2 just wanted to play with their new toys...
and our "Henry?" he opened up everyone elses gifts (he helped us LOL)

Junie is lucky this year...she gets to have two Christmas's.  Not much planned for today besides laundry and mopping. Tomorrow is the school concert...it is also calling for a snow storm for the afternoon. I hope the concert is done by the time the snow starts. The kids were excited yesterday. The new place where DD moved has a Santa that rides through town with the help of the firefighters with a shiny firetruck handing out treats to the kids. GB was more excited for the sirens and lights then the treat.

yes I do get 2 Christmases....this year. There are rumors that Emily will come home for next Christmas but we will not be living here..so I am worried about where she will stay, b/c her MIL has moved to a town 1 hour from here....
Errands, a visit with my cousin and and packing are on the agenda today.

Hi all,
Guess I better check in before you all think I just disappeared... finally got new house unpacked.. mostly. Christmas décor is up too, all new places to put things... we are looking fwd to youngest dd and her family coming for Christmas , right after anyway... if our Timothy doesn't have whooping cough.. he is sick and best friend has it, so seeing doc today... sure hope not ... !

Checking in...as long as my internet holds out.
So much has happened recently, my dad dying was a big blow. Losing my Social Security then going through all the ordeal of getting it back was such a worry to me. I would have become an alcoholic during that time if I could afford a bottle of wine. I have a possum now that I have been feeding for almost 3 months. Have to figure out how to post a picture of her on here. Her name is Sweetie Pie.

Christmas #2 for Junie awaits It snowed last night so DH is out early. I baked in the early morning to send to GG's Christmas party today....I have to make this weeks bread in a few minutes as well. My house smells like a bakery this morning

Hello! I am at my DD's and the kids were wound tight. The wonderful news is, that baby Ian came to me when I asked him to and let me pick him up. I got the best Christmas treat today....our store got in 5 pound boxes of clementines from Morocco. They were pricey but a Christmas tradition none the less. They are delicious.

It must be catching. My mother, DD, GB, GG and I are all under the weather...some sort of sinus bug. Only my husband has been spared. Oh well, the show must go on. I am having our turkey meal tomorrow evening since there is a storm coming for Christmas day. DH will be on the plow for the duration of Christmas. BTW: We can eat those clementines in 3 days here

GB called this morning to come to Grammie's house. So off I went...it is now storming outside and he wants his mommy. The joys of toddlers. It is calling for a foot of snow for tonight into the morning, then another 8 inches on Christmas Day. I plan to go nowhere for a few days....unless Santa can take me in his sled.

Yes, DD will get here somehow....I'll probably take the truck and go for her at supper time if need be. DH gets home at 5 pm until 9pm. There is a mandatory 4 hour break after 16 hours on a plow. That is why I am having supper at 6pm today....if he can stay awake to eat it. They are calling for a major blizzard starting tomorrow morning as well. There will be a lot of stranded visitors over the holidays. It will be a mess but we will snuggle here with the wood stove and leftovers followed by a two foot pan of homemade cheesecake

Good morning. Laundry is on my list today. It seems a weird thing to do on a Christmas Eve day. But it is what it is. I've got to clean this illness out of my house and that begins with laundry. Well, along with generous amounts of Lysol, etc.
Christmas will be postponed until we have health and cleanliness around here. Santa is not allowed until then.

Hi all,
I finally finished my great grandsons blanket, I started it just before I hurt my foot, so couldn't use sewing machine till now... I finally got it set up again to be able to use it... will send it to him with dd and family... 19 th blanket I made for grands and now great grands too... haven't got a clue as to how many others I have made.
I made a really good roast for dinner last evening, came out really good, actually two of them.. going to use the leftovers for sandwiches .. and make a vegetable beef soup ... going to be a lot of food needed the next few days... we got seafood for our Christmas dinner.. and some nice wine..
Well off to put the blanket in the dryer... Merry Christmas all, hope you all feel better soon at your house Tina..

Christmas 2017 is one that I hope never repeats itself. It stormed for the day before and the day of, dropping over two feet of snow. DH missed the meal, we were all sick. I was so sick yesterday that my mother took the family to her house after they opened the gifts. This bug is getting the best of me.  I hope that the festivities were better for everyone else.

Hi all. I gave in and spent the day at the hospital yesterday waiting to see a doctor. Who told me that it is just a virus with sinusitis and gave me nasal spray. I guess the sore throat/ears, body aches, fevers, cough and phlegm didn't need treatment....then to top it all of, when I was leaving he said that if I got worse to go back in two days to see a doctor again.  I better get better soon...my roof needs to be shoveled. Sorry to be such a complainer but I am so sick that is it discouraging.

O H my it sounds as if things are bad in Canada as well as in California. I am so sorry for you both. And yes, we all need someone to complain to from time to time. I am here to use as a sounding board well. I hope everyone is better soon ! We are half the way home. The motel Rod found online is simple but nice and clean....BUT what I am not going to be able to handle is the noise from the 4 lane highway just outside.

I hope Teddy is better this a.m. How are you feeling Tina?
I still feel like cr@p but the days must go on. We are in an extreme cold snap. DH was at work yesterday and came across people in vehicles stranded. Cars can only take so much cold then they shut down from fuel lines freezing. People really need to heed the 'emergency travel only' warnings. We usually get hit with this arctic air in February not December.

Yes Tina...today is a day to be grateful for my wood heat. Even with it, it is hard to keep the house warm.
I got the house cleaned and mopped. I feel done in...I'll be glad when these fevers break.

golly yes the cold...and it was only 19 on the interstate coming home--I cannot imagine what you are going thru, Sunny. and speaking of you..STOP working..the mopping can be done when you are well !!!~Wood heat---it is surely wonderful...I too am glad that you have it. I stil miss mine, 13 years later.

I had to check my C to F converter...the coldest day we had was minus -34* F so far. I have not been out in days. It is slowly getting better as am I...I have to head out tomorrow to the local grocer to pick up a few things whether I like it or not.

We don't do anything for New Year's either. GG was complaining she felt yucky, so I went for the few groceries today since the pharmacy is closed for the next four days.(They close every Sat. and Sun. plus two days for holidays). I picked up extra Advil and cold meds for her just in case. We just got home and she is now running a fever at the moment....and it begins again. Our local grocery store just put in a rotisserie for chickens. I picked up one to try for our supper. It is going to be a great convenience to be able to buy a pre-cooked chicken.

ah yes, I LOVE rotisserie chicken !! It is a great convenience plus it is very yummy. AND IF there are left overs you can cook with it.
The bones could even be the base for a SMALL pot of soup..well with a few random pieces of uncooked chicken
Good thinking about the groceries & drugs for GG. sounds like you will be glad you did.
WE will have chef salads tonight. Eggs are becoming hard boiled as i type. :)

I can't even imagine -34° F. How can a person get warm in that weather?

I can't even imagine -34° F. How can a person get warm in that weather? I'd probably curl up as close to my wood burner stove as I could get and dream of summer. Sweet dreams all. I hope tomorrow finds you better, Carol.

Tina, I bought a spray can of Lysol....I am going to spray everything I can. Sheri, I think the coldest we have ever seen here is minus -45*F. That is deadly cold....people had their septic tanks and water lines from their wells freeze that time. Thankfully we only get a day or two of that. Junie, the chicken was delicious. I am using the leftovers to throw in a cold pasta salad. GG has declared that all shopping trips have to include a 'chicken run' GG just has a mild fever with a little cough...I hope that it doesn't progress anymore. My grandson called yesterday because he needed to talk to Grammie. My voice is so raspy that he argued that I wasn't Grammie and to put his 'Gammie' on the phone

Good late morning. It is like 16*F outside here today. and sadly that is a lot warmer than it was last evening & night. Glad the chicken was good--(I knew it would be) Poor GB. I too hope you were able to make him understand it was really you. How is everyone at your house, Tina ?? Sheri: has it warmed up any for your area yet ??? I often wonder what the birds do for warmth. I am making sure that there is plenty of seed & such out for them but still, I wonder where they go for to roost.

(time here is 5:19 pm central) it is 11*F now----and wind chill is between -2 to -11. they will go lower tonight.

Why yes, Tina it is cold. The outside temp is now 6*F. And yes, I know it is not -34...But I am still cold...

When I think of how cold your temps are, I realize how drafty my house is. And that I should do something about it.

Yes, I spent about 6 winters in the northeast. Saw lots of weather. But I choose not to put up with it any more.

Good morning everyone. My DH just informed me that it is 4*F outside. Sad part is, I guess we are going to go to Church anyway. I hope I can find some warm clothes. Keep warm everyone.

Good morning. I am up and ready for my day. It is going to be cooler than it has been the last couple of days. Today I am gathering more trash for the dumpster. And cleaning out a fridge or two.

NYE snacks made, birds fed & now I am waiting to start supper. That will be chili.
Temperature now is 12*F. It is a good night to be staying in.
