It worked for me. When he was in high school he worked in our yard and he was so smart. He was in the French Foreign Legion for 4 years and came home and just graduated from UNC-Charlotte with a degree in accounting. He was planning to continue school to get his CPR. What in the world?

Nothing surprises me anymore with today's generation, sadly.

Tame strawberry jam in the plans today grin

I remember that case, Sunny. Have fun getting your jam on!
Good morning. I slept in today. It felt good but I am disoriented. I will need coffee to find myself.
I hope everyone has a great day.

YAY for homemade strawberry jam, Sunny. Your family is lucky indeed.

Enjoy your vacation, Carol.
I didn't eat today. I ate a handful of tater chips and that was it for me. But I finally ate an egg and cheese burrito when it cooled down tonight. I just wasn't hungry today.
Now I'll say good night to all. Sweet dreams.

I wish I would not eat much in the heat.....I am glad it cooled down some for you though, Tina.

Well, no----IF we go anywhere today, it will just be for the afternoon--you know AFTER we eat lunch at home & I clean it up. Rod is off taking care of business he could have taken care of yesterday afternoon.....when he was home napping instead. He says if I have to do more stuff, we can go tomorrow--well, I WAS going to work outside tomorrow as it is supposed to be only in the 80's tomorrow...oh well...that work has waited this long it can wait longer....

Did Rod get laid off Junie? Hope you get to go somewhere fun and have a great afternoon. Sometimes a short time away from the house is the best. Sometimes Johnny and I will just take a ride through Charlotte and we'll go by where his parents lived and where he played in the park and so on. It's still fun even though we've done it hundreds of times.

Tina, I ate enough yesterday for both of us. :) Don't make cookies if you can't control yourself is my advice.

Sunny, I remember that horrible snake story now. Nice about the splash park. I didn't make jam this year. Do you make freezer jam?

It just occurred to me that the blackberries are gone. I'm not sure if my neighbors stole them or if the deer ate them. I don't mind either way but I usually keep some in the freezer. Oh well, there's always next year.

I cook my jams Sheri...I like it better that way.

Ran some errands with DH...first time we've gone together in forever it seems. He's gone to run a few more but I had work to do while GG is visiting my mom for a few hrs. I got the wagon wheels scraped and sanded, there were three colors of paint. I just coated them with my 'poor man's sealer', they'll be dry by tomorrow.

I'll post pics once they get situated.

Thank you all about the kind words of Rodney. We are happy as well.

I offered to make Rodney some blackberry jam, but reminded him I would have to buy the berries. he said not to bother as the berries would be costly. I thought all jams & jellies were cooked???

last week I finally threw away my old gardening clogs. the sole was just about worn thru, and the linings were definitely a lost cause. So, today Rod & I were in a farm store & they had some plastic clogs on clearance, so I bought a pair to use while I a m out doing my gardening....now I am good to go. YAY

I too am headed to bed. Sweet dreams to you all.

Hi all.

Junie, you can get a special pectin. You just crush the berries, add sugar, stir well...add 'freezer pectin', stir some more and pour in dishes for the fridge and freezer. No cooking required.

I am not sure what today holds...there is always lots to do.

Good morning.

I did not sleep well or long last night----oh well, what else is new? It is beautiful, out in the 60's....(yes really) and I had planned for it & was going to do yard work. well not the way I feel. hopefully I will wake up at some point today & go out to begin--- Then at some point I will come back in & make 2 single serve peach cobblers for Rod & I for supper. I really should decide what is going with that, huh?

Thanks for the info Sunny, I had no idea.....I thought one still cooked Freezer jam.

Sorry for the humidity, Tina. .sounds like you are getting what we had--gosh I hope not.

I wish you all a great day.

Hello:

I was finally awake enough to go out & begin some of the things I want to do outside. I began by building up the edging bricks that go around my window wells. that went well...then I thought I would get some of my mulch & do both at one time as I went across the mulched area. Well, there were what I thought were ants on one bag (I had 2 bags) so I asked Rod if he has something to spray on them to kill them,,,(I am not planting in the mulched area) Well he said he thought they were termites. SO, I say well what do I do with 2 bags of mulch?/ he says well go put it around the trees we have along the back of our property. (Yea I know the trees are wood too...but the boy said to do that, so I did) so now I am hot---it is much hotter out--I do so wish I had of been awake enough to start this AM....I could be done with my edging at least. Oh well...at least I began.

Yes, it's a very good beginning too, Carol.
Today has been productive. My hair is trimmed and Teddy's. Bathroom tidied from my messy daughter (I was searching for something). Cleaned out the kitchen fridge.
Next bathing my boy and taking a shower. But maybe a little nap first.

I add a pectin to my strawberry freezer jam. I've tried to find a non GMO one but haven't had much luck. I made some one year without pectin and the jam is too thin to suit me. Doesn't seem to bother anyone else but I like a thicker jam.

I still have some garden clogs that Cindy sent me in a forum exchange. Can't even remember how many years ago that's been. I mostly wear a pair of Johnny's old boots in the garden.

I buy my store brand jam. It is good with no GMO's. But sometimes it is thick, almost solid and sometimes it is thinner and runny. I like it thinner myself.

Hi all.

We are getting a few cooler days...it is nice. Wishing I could send it to you as well Tina.

We don't have termites here....I wonder if the cold Winter's have anything to do with it. Do they do much damage there Junie?

Sheri, either way with pectin...you get 'crap'. Regular has GMO corn by-product, non GMO pectin isn't organic so it has pesticides from the fruit by-product.

Today I have to take DD to town to order GG's cake and such(she offered to pay for the party)....she turns 7 next Tuesday.

seven ?? when did anyone allow her to get so old...why she was just born last week, right???

termites can be problem here if you are not careful....things like at least 6 inches of rocked area between the dirt/mulch & the house, & treated area & keeping wood things (ie mulch) correctly used & stored...well I was not thinking ^ what with everything going on I left my mulch on the concrete pavers for 2 years..THAT will not happen again, I assure you.

I think I need to make some Jam......

going out now to continue working on the rocked area...

I wish you all a great afternoon.

Just a comment: Some day I am going to learn to keep ALL of my opinions to myself on facebook. I have found if I ever dare to give my opinion on a topic, there is a BUNCH of people who are just itching to prove you wrong, and then explain in detail just why I am wrong.....One would think I would learn....SMH

on to other news & note---

2 of my 4 tomato plants got a fungus and died--luckily I got a few tomatoes off of them first---and so I had 2 tomato plants left---1 cherry tomato plant and 1 Cherokee Purple. The CP had 3 larger beautiful green tomatoes on it-(& a few tiny ones)-one was very large & blemish free, I could not wait for it to ripen. Well, apparently a squirrel did not feel the need to wait for it to ripen...all 3 tomatoes are gone---gone I say---anyone want to have some squirrel in red sauce with polenta??? 'cause I am ready to make it happen. (PS: my DH thought I was serious & told me I could not do such as that in town)
In other news & notes:
another 1-1/2 hours of work done on my rocked area....I am hoping to get it done this week as the temps are supposed to stay in the 80's all week. wish me luck.

I try very hard not to give opinions. It leads to problems. But I've had a few.
I am sorry about your tomato plants. It's sad. Good on getting outdoor things caught up.
Sweet dreams everyone.

Thanks TIna, and of course you are right..I am going to try harder in future to keep my opinions to myself.

Not happy about the squirrel...I knew he as trying to eat my cherry tomatos...but he did not care for green ones so so far I have been safe with them---I should have been checking my other tomato plants as often as I was checking the one on the deck,..shame on me. (BTW: the tomatoes were all there 2 days ago when I watered them.)

Going to bed now--sweet dreams

Naw Tina, you are not getting old---your DD is just aging faster than you. That is my story & I'm sticking to it.
Good Morning. I am off to a day of shopping as well. I intend to make an enjoyable day of it....some shopping and a LOT of looking around......sounds relaxing to me.

I wish you all a great day.

Junie, how did one of your sentences end up in a post of mine from the other day? I was able to edit it and delete it. Interesting.

I don't usually give a lot of opinions on FB either but when I do if people want to argue I either unfollow or unfriend them. It's my page after all. I got in a FB argument with Johnny's niece a few years back over a picture I posted of Johnny's grandmother - they wanted me to delete it and I refused - ended up deleting them as friends. They have both tried to refriend me several times since then and I refuse to do it. I've totally blocked one of them that continued to send request after request. I also blocked her from Johnny's page. Johnny's aunt unfriended her over something else (I have no idea what) and told Johnny that she received a very hateful message from this niece. She's a nut job.

I have no idea what happened with our pages getting mixed up Sheri....glad you were able to take care of it though.

Yes, I just decided to ignore those people---I cannot unfriend them----family and long time friends....apparently with different opinions than I have...

so sorry for your family drama, Sheri---I guess we all have them.

Hi all. Happy B-day to your DD, Tina.

I ended up deleting my FB because of family. The less people I have to deal with...the better in my opinion. I think I'm going to end up being that cranky old lady in the family haha

I have friends and family who have left their original FB page as is and just rarely post on it and opened another using their first name, middle initial, last name or some such combination and don't accept friendships from people who have been a problem. They keep the second page secure. I'm not that discrete :). If you aggravate me I unfriend or delete you. I don't care if it makes you mad. Real life has enough drama without having it on my FB page.

I should never make chocolate oatmeal cookies because I end up eating waaaay too many of them.

I don't bake in the summer. That helps keep my weight down. And I stay cooler.
I am going out tomorrow to bank and such. The shopping was done today and I won't need anything for a few days. I'll probably need bananas and bread and stuff for the weekend. But I'm sticking close to home otherwise.
Sweet dreams all.

I DO use the o en in the summer, just not as often as I use it in the winter. I really need to clean my oven but it is a self-cleaning one & THOSE temps I am just not ready for yet.

Going to sleep soon G'nite to everyone.

Good morning. I slept in. I got up about 4:30 this morning But went back to bed when it started thundering. I slept through the rain we got. I don't know how much but it's nearly dry out there.
Time to get up and moving.
