Hi all.

We are under thunderstorm warnings and a heat advisory. This is August weather...not June.

Good morning. Happy first day of summer.
I agree, Sunny. We are having August weather too. I hope it improves. For all.

For the next 3 days or so we will have cooler temps--high 70's, lower 80's. Then back to the 90's.

I guess I should get back to dong what yard work I need to do, and try to see what I can get done before the next heat wave....

A good plan, Carol. I will try to get things done if we get another cool spell also. It's a plan.

Yes it is a plan, and I must say it is a good one too.

I was going to spray round up tonight, as Rod was home to mix it for me, and nope it rained so I could not do it. BUT I did replant my Cherokee Purple tomato plant (now I hope it takes to it's new pot) and pull a few "out of place" flowers & pull a few weeds. Then I put in a few steaks and 1 tomato cage---(plants were really too big for that move, but oh well.

THEN...THEN !!! wonder of wonders, I found an almost red tomato. Sad thing is it was not on the vine, I guess the rain pushed it off. IF I count it, I got a red tomato well before the 4th of July--what do you all think???

Good job on the tomato Junie.

It reached 104 degrees here yesterday with the humidity...that's just wrong lol

Today is a class trip to the swim center in a neighouring town. I'll drive up as well...40 kids who can't swim with a few on-lookers makes me nervous. GG has a new 'life jacket' to try out as well.

Good morning, Happy second day of summer. Today is suppose to be the hottest day of our heatwave. I'll be glad to see it go. And dreading the next one.
Glad you didn't have tornadoes, Sunny.
Have a good day all and keep cool.

The ticker on my page is wrong because it says there are 9 hours until the first day of summer.

Junie, can you bring the tomato in the house to ripen? I've only gotten 1 big tomato so far but have some green ones. I've eaten, right off the vine, the cherry ones . Got my first cucumber yesterday and we ate it last night.

Sunny, it seems like you just had snow on the ground and now it's 104. Which would you prefer?

I was wrong. Today is the first full day of summer.
It just dropped to 98* in the shade of my back porch. It feels good. At 4 pm.

Sheri: yes, I brought the tomato in and put it on my window sill to ripen. And wonders of wonders, tonight when I added a 2nd tomato cage to the biggest pot I have, I saw another red/orange/green tomato. So I am good on having ripe tomatoes before July 4th. And sadly/not sadly, I found 2 green tomatoes off of the vine tonight as well. Sad because they will not ever be ripe---not sad because now I can slice it and have fried green tomatoes...even if it will just be a few slices.

Today was supposed to be the 2nd of a 4 day cool wave. Well, 91*F is not a cool breezy summers day in MY book. Good thing that I did my tomato moving last night.

Sunny...104*F OMG !!! you poor thing !!! NO ONE should ever have to put up with that...and I am with Sheri---didn't you just get rid of your snow????

Although I will say I think it has been years since we got gradually warmer around these parts, so..... sad;y the weather we are all getting is very likely the "new normal".

Good night everyone. sweet dreams

Neither haha

I have been coughing all night....every time I have to go to the Recreaplex with the kids for a 'swim' thing this happens. It has to be the strong chlorine smell in the air.

Hoping cooler weather is had by all today.

Gracious, I hope that you feel better soon, Sunny.

No cooler weather here. This afternoon it is to be in the low to mid 90's...or worse. So much for a cool down---we had 1 day of that.

Bless you for the well wishes, Tina.

Today went So-So. I got the the Hospital prepared to wait my turn for my routine test, & nope---I had to have an appointment, & no, they had no room to fit me in...so I left. The clerk was upset at my leaving without smiling & making another appt. at a future day. So I said no dear, I know this was not your fault. I just wish someone had of let me know I needed an appt. (I did not need one a year ago) Not to worry, I am very busy just now, I will get it next year when I go back to my Gynecologist. Which is where I would have gotten it in the first place if my insurance were not so obstinate. (it has to be a year and a day apart for my Mammo's)

so I go on about my other errands. When I got home, I had a message from the head of radiology. It seems they do and would have worked a walk-in into the schedule. I should call her and set up something-----you know an appointment...........A day in the life of Junie.

Tonight Rod cut the grass, to stay ahead of "Cindy" and I weeded my big flower bed some and planted my one flower that I bought today..(It is a purple Osteospermum.)

Then I watered my tomatoes. The Cherokee Purple just might make it after all.

Tina, I saw on the news that VERY hot weather is headed your way. Oh how I wish that were not true. So sorry for you all.

I think I will go to bed early tonight--I am one tired little girl.

Yikes Tina...that kid of heat is unbearable. I hope you can rest and stay inside.

I have to go to the school in a bit to help with a year end bbq. I'll also be voicing my opinion on the fact that the kids must pay for what they eat...we raise money all year for things, plus pay a school fee per child. If they can't start showing where the money is going then I am contacting the school board. Something seems 'off'.

Hoping to get the grass cut this afternoon as well...it sure needs it.

Good morning.
I agree, we have to keep our school systems honest, Sunny.
Our heatwave is going to last longer than the original 10 days called for. And it is hot. I am not used to it this early in the year. I stay indoors a lot.
I hope everyone has a good day.

The electricity went out today for a while. About ten minutes in I was considering booking a hotel room. It came back on after about 15 minutes. I am not built for the heat any more.

I do not blame you. One year we did not have power in the winter for like 3 days. Our neighbors went to a hotel & lived there---"we" stayed in our house & lived in the living room by the fireplace. I do not remember what we ate....

Tina..I hope the power stays on for you

I am headed to bed, sweet dreams..

Hi all.

No power in that kind of heat is scary...I hope it stays on for you. Keep safe Tina.

I got the grass cut last night but ran out of time for the weed wacking...that is on my list this morning.

I got the school bbq straightened out....next year it will be free for students, only the parents will pay. Apparently I insulted them by bringing some wieners and buns at my expense for them to cook and give to the kids with no money grin

LOL well good for you, Sunny. That was a nice thing to do on the BBQ meal thing....what had they planned on doing........let the kids who had no money go hungry and then have them watch the other kids eat???

Well this morning it was nice in the house and I was looking towards sleeping a few more hours. Well, between my leg (calf) cramps, and Rod using the outside water before he left for work, that was not going to happen. So I went out and swept the front porch. I did not get to it the other night after Rod cut the grass here.

Packing to go see Valarie is on the agenda today. That and going to town to run a few errands.

I wish you all a great day.

Yes, Tina, I hope the dry lightening does uneventfully pass you by.

I will have fun. I will get to spend the day playing with my grands instead of just looking at their pictures on my wall. I am beyond happy indeed.

I used to look forward to the end of the school year. And sad to see it begin again. I was as bad as the kids on that.

Your Welcome, Tina.

I am WAY tired. I just finished washing 3 loads of clothes, and ironing a bunch of shirts. I have my Grandmother's ironing board. I am trying to remember her age, but she died in 1958 at the age of 52, so this board is OLD !!!..and short--did I mention it is short ??? My back still hurts..

But either way, good night everyone sweet dreams to you all.

Raining again today. We are going to see Grandboy later...and I also need to pick up a few groceries as well.

Have a good one.

Good morning. Another hot one ahead. Midweek we are supposed to go back to normal summer. It'll be nice.
I hope everyone has a great day.

Enjoy any cooler weather you can get Tina.

I just came in from picking potato bugs....and the sand flies got a lunch off of me while I did.

I better not say this but I have never had potato bugs. Plenty of squash bugs and cabbage bugs but no potato bugs. Also have Japanese beetles. Hate those things.

Good morning.
I am counting down to the end of our heatwave. I'm thinking we'll get some relief on Thursday. Not rain or cold, just not over 100*. It'll be nice.

I'd die in that heat.
