All my company is gone back to their homes. So now the house cleaning-putting it back to rights is the next thing on the agenda.

Sunny you may be right. Maybe I'm allergic to Colt because this cough is winning the war right now. I feel horrible. I went to Shelley's church yesterday because they were having a ceremony for the graduates and Darbi was a graduate, sat on the very back row, tried not to cough and covered when I did, and the lady in front of me got up and moved one pew up and I didn't blame her one bit. After the graduates did their thing I left. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to sit around me.

We have Vacation Bible School starting tomorrow night so I hope I'm up to it.

Good morning. I was up at three but went back to bed for a couple of hours. Now I'm up for real and getting ready to go out.
Do you have a lot of baby-proofing to do when the kids come, Carol?
I hope everyone has a good day.

I think doing nothing is the most tiring thing there is, Sunny. Working keeps one awake (well it does me anyway)

Tina, I have a lot the girls and Ian cannot get into. BUT we keep the very "littles" in the living room boxed in with a chair on it's side and then we only have to baby-proof that one room. Makes it a lot easier.

by the time they are 3, we can simply watch them closely & make them mind.

(well it has worked that way on the first 3, we shall see how it goes with the last 4)

Today I will be mowing dandelions. It seems they grow even when the grass does not. lol

Yes about the dandelions. Our yard is full of them,-- and clover. I hate that as Rod worked SO very hard to establish and keep this yard in good shape. and he lets it go for a few years & oops, the "weeds" take over. it is quite sad how things like that work.

I am happily off to ceramics--TTYAL

Got my hair trimmed today. Since my guy jacked it up the last 2 times I've been anxious about having it cut again. I went to a new person and had her cut it dry. It seems pretty good right now but for some reason once it's washed and dried it may not look the same. You'd think it would pull out the same but sometimes that just doesn't happen.

I feel a little bit better today so I'm going to go to Vacation Bible School. We'll have a good time.

Tina, I hope your day was well. Glad you got some extra sleep. That is always a good thing.

Sheri, glad you are feeling better..I guess I am lucky, my DH's cousin cuts my hair & so it is usually a good cut. Now I cannot fix it like she does, but hey, I did not go to beauty school either.

I wish I could cut my own hair..as it is I wait for Rod to decide he needs a new cut, then I book mine at the same time.

Tina, yes I had a good time--but then I usually do !! WE go to lunch afterward & then we just visit until 2 pm. Thank goodness, the restaurant we go to is OK with is staying after our meal is done.

I am soon off to my errands as well. I am beginning to understand why people "like" staying home--it has it's good points.

I wish everyone a good day.

I am right back to being sick. I just can't shake this cough and it's beginning to wear me down.

I cut my own hair all the time and that's part of my problem because I am definitely NOT a hair stylist. I try not to do it but sometimes I can't rest until I do. Weird huh?

I hope you get well soon, Sheri.

Well we went to the Drs. (just a yearly check-up) and then did some shopping.

I found out it would be around $700.00 just to get my grandmother's engagement ring reset.

Good news is that I have my good watch fixed. it needed cleaned out, a new gasket placed in the works ans a new battery (I was not taking any chances.)

YAY for me.

Hi all.

That is a lot of money Carol...I hope you can get a second quote somewhere.

I have been busy, GG has tonsillitis and tonsil stones. We were at the hospital all day yesterday...they have to do something. She has fevers every week and misses school for days at a time. They are supposed to call today to get the ball rolling for a tonsillectomy. I had to see a nurse practitioner to get in to see a doctor then now I have to wait to see a pediatrician to get an appointment with a ENT specialist. touched

Gracious, what a run around Sunny, and in the mean time poor GG suffers (not to mention her gran parents) I hope things move along quickly for all your sakes.

Yes I was quite shocked at what it would cost to have the ring reset. It cost me like $85.00 in 1980 to have it reset then. and while the setting he showed me was simple yet beautiful, THAT is a lot of money that is not even for my diamond. (it needs resized big time, so I do not wear it. Luckily I have my 25th anniversary ring to wear.

Not to mention he told me it was a blood stone, not a ruby. Now, when I had it reset the first time, I was told it was not only a ruby, it was a high quality ruby...and the place I was in this time was classy to say the least....so I am way confused.

I always thought a blood stone was green and red flecked...I think you should really search out another jewelry shop.

It is a rainy weekend. I could use a quiet Saturday anyway...have a good one.

Yes, and he said that it is slightly chipped & a ruby would not chip--well it is over 100 years old....and yes I looked up a blood stone as well..it is DEFINATELY not medium/lighter pink---yes I will be going to another place, which is sad as these people have a store that I could drive to myself--but oh well.

I will find a place that I am sure about. Thanks for all the advice guys.

Junie, a bloodstone isn't a solid color. A ruby is more solid in color. Does seem a lot to reset it.

Yes it is a lot to rest it...and on top of it I was looking at the setting in a book---I would love to see the setting before I bought it, ya know??

As I said, I will find a place I am sure.

The promised storms have not hit yet, so I got to go out to eat...it was very nice..

I am headed to bed everyone. sweet dreams.

Hi all.

We are under thunderstorm warnings and a heat advisory. This is August weather...not June.

Good morning. Happy first day of summer.
I agree, Sunny. We are having August weather too. I hope it improves. For all.

For the next 3 days or so we will have cooler temps--high 70's, lower 80's. Then back to the 90's.

I guess I should get back to dong what yard work I need to do, and try to see what I can get done before the next heat wave....

A good plan, Carol. I will try to get things done if we get another cool spell also. It's a plan.

Yes it is a plan, and I must say it is a good one too.

I was going to spray round up tonight, as Rod was home to mix it for me, and nope it rained so I could not do it. BUT I did replant my Cherokee Purple tomato plant (now I hope it takes to it's new pot) and pull a few "out of place" flowers & pull a few weeds. Then I put in a few steaks and 1 tomato cage---(plants were really too big for that move, but oh well.

THEN...THEN !!! wonder of wonders, I found an almost red tomato. Sad thing is it was not on the vine, I guess the rain pushed it off. IF I count it, I got a red tomato well before the 4th of July--what do you all think???

Good job on the tomato Junie.

It reached 104 degrees here yesterday with the humidity...that's just wrong lol

Today is a class trip to the swim center in a neighouring town. I'll drive up as well...40 kids who can't swim with a few on-lookers makes me nervous. GG has a new 'life jacket' to try out as well.

Good morning, Happy second day of summer. Today is suppose to be the hottest day of our heatwave. I'll be glad to see it go. And dreading the next one.
Glad you didn't have tornadoes, Sunny.
Have a good day all and keep cool.

The ticker on my page is wrong because it says there are 9 hours until the first day of summer.

Junie, can you bring the tomato in the house to ripen? I've only gotten 1 big tomato so far but have some green ones. I've eaten, right off the vine, the cherry ones . Got my first cucumber yesterday and we ate it last night.

Sunny, it seems like you just had snow on the ground and now it's 104. Which would you prefer?

I was wrong. Today is the first full day of summer.
It just dropped to 98* in the shade of my back porch. It feels good. At 4 pm.

Sheri: yes, I brought the tomato in and put it on my window sill to ripen. And wonders of wonders, tonight when I added a 2nd tomato cage to the biggest pot I have, I saw another red/orange/green tomato. So I am good on having ripe tomatoes before July 4th. And sadly/not sadly, I found 2 green tomatoes off of the vine tonight as well. Sad because they will not ever be ripe---not sad because now I can slice it and have fried green tomatoes...even if it will just be a few slices.

Today was supposed to be the 2nd of a 4 day cool wave. Well, 91*F is not a cool breezy summers day in MY book. Good thing that I did my tomato moving last night.

Sunny...104*F OMG !!! you poor thing !!! NO ONE should ever have to put up with that...and I am with Sheri---didn't you just get rid of your snow????

Although I will say I think it has been years since we got gradually warmer around these parts, so..... sad;y the weather we are all getting is very likely the "new normal".

Good night everyone. sweet dreams

Neither haha

I have been coughing all night....every time I have to go to the Recreaplex with the kids for a 'swim' thing this happens. It has to be the strong chlorine smell in the air.

Hoping cooler weather is had by all today.

Gracious, I hope that you feel better soon, Sunny.

No cooler weather here. This afternoon it is to be in the low to mid 90's...or worse. So much for a cool down---we had 1 day of that.

Bless you for the well wishes, Tina.

Today went So-So. I got the the Hospital prepared to wait my turn for my routine test, & nope---I had to have an appointment, & no, they had no room to fit me in...so I left. The clerk was upset at my leaving without smiling & making another appt. at a future day. So I said no dear, I know this was not your fault. I just wish someone had of let me know I needed an appt. (I did not need one a year ago) Not to worry, I am very busy just now, I will get it next year when I go back to my Gynecologist. Which is where I would have gotten it in the first place if my insurance were not so obstinate. (it has to be a year and a day apart for my Mammo's)

so I go on about my other errands. When I got home, I had a message from the head of radiology. It seems they do and would have worked a walk-in into the schedule. I should call her and set up something-----you know an appointment...........A day in the life of Junie.

Tonight Rod cut the grass, to stay ahead of "Cindy" and I weeded my big flower bed some and planted my one flower that I bought today..(It is a purple Osteospermum.)

Then I watered my tomatoes. The Cherokee Purple just might make it after all.

Tina, I saw on the news that VERY hot weather is headed your way. Oh how I wish that were not true. So sorry for you all.

I think I will go to bed early tonight--I am one tired little girl.

Yikes Tina...that kid of heat is unbearable. I hope you can rest and stay inside.

I have to go to the school in a bit to help with a year end bbq. I'll also be voicing my opinion on the fact that the kids must pay for what they eat...we raise money all year for things, plus pay a school fee per child. If they can't start showing where the money is going then I am contacting the school board. Something seems 'off'.

Hoping to get the grass cut this afternoon as well...it sure needs it.

Good morning.
I agree, we have to keep our school systems honest, Sunny.
Our heatwave is going to last longer than the original 10 days called for. And it is hot. I am not used to it this early in the year. I stay indoors a lot.
I hope everyone has a good day.

The electricity went out today for a while. About ten minutes in I was considering booking a hotel room. It came back on after about 15 minutes. I am not built for the heat any more.

I do not blame you. One year we did not have power in the winter for like 3 days. Our neighbors went to a hotel & lived there---"we" stayed in our house & lived in the living room by the fireplace. I do not remember what we ate....

Tina..I hope the power stays on for you

I am headed to bed, sweet dreams..

Hi all.

No power in that kind of heat is scary...I hope it stays on for you. Keep safe Tina.

I got the grass cut last night but ran out of time for the weed wacking...that is on my list this morning.

I got the school bbq straightened out....next year it will be free for students, only the parents will pay. Apparently I insulted them by bringing some wieners and buns at my expense for them to cook and give to the kids with no money grin

LOL well good for you, Sunny. That was a nice thing to do on the BBQ meal thing....what had they planned on doing........let the kids who had no money go hungry and then have them watch the other kids eat???

Well this morning it was nice in the house and I was looking towards sleeping a few more hours. Well, between my leg (calf) cramps, and Rod using the outside water before he left for work, that was not going to happen. So I went out and swept the front porch. I did not get to it the other night after Rod cut the grass here.

Packing to go see Valarie is on the agenda today. That and going to town to run a few errands.

I wish you all a great day.

Yes, Tina, I hope the dry lightening does uneventfully pass you by.

I will have fun. I will get to spend the day playing with my grands instead of just looking at their pictures on my wall. I am beyond happy indeed.

I used to look forward to the end of the school year. And sad to see it begin again. I was as bad as the kids on that.

Your Welcome, Tina.

I am WAY tired. I just finished washing 3 loads of clothes, and ironing a bunch of shirts. I have my Grandmother's ironing board. I am trying to remember her age, but she died in 1958 at the age of 52, so this board is OLD !!!..and short--did I mention it is short ??? My back still hurts..

But either way, good night everyone sweet dreams to you all.

Raining again today. We are going to see Grandboy later...and I also need to pick up a few groceries as well.

Have a good one.

Enjoy any cooler weather you can get Tina.

I just came in from picking potato bugs....and the sand flies got a lunch off of me while I did.

I better not say this but I have never had potato bugs. Plenty of squash bugs and cabbage bugs but no potato bugs. Also have Japanese beetles. Hate those things.

Good morning.
I am counting down to the end of our heatwave. I'm thinking we'll get some relief on Thursday. Not rain or cold, just not over 100*. It'll be nice.

I hope the heat calms down today Tina...rest when you can.

DH and I are sealing the driveway in a few....it hasn't been done for years and it is crumbling in places. We just pour it on and squeegee it out.

Have a good day all.

Sealing the driveway---good for you. And so glad your DH is helping..that will make light work of it.

I would take 83, Tina--it beat temps in the 100s. Stay as cool as you can.

I am running errands today--I wish you all a good day.

Why, yes, DO have him help--one day he will be retired, and it will bode well for you IF he is already of the notion to help you with all that you do.

Thanks all. Don't feel old Junie...we were all teen mothers down the line for many a generation, praying GG breaks the cycle.

There was a tornado through the night just a couple hrs drive from here...waiting for more news. This is August weather for sure.

It is calling for rain all day today....I just might take GG and myself for a day out at Walmart. It's an hour drive to and an hour drive back so it is always a special planned trip.

OK< Sunny, I will not feel old....That just put things in perspective for me is all.

Tina, I am sorry you need to go out in the heat---I too hate when I have to do that.

It is a cooler day here yet this morning. "THEY" say it will get hot this afternoon though..if I did not feel as if I were coming down with a cold, I would be out pulling weeds. BUT I think it best if I rest today as I have to go out the next few days no matter what....

I banked and shopped. The filling of the tank and whatever Jonni wants will begin when she goes out. It will be before the weekend when we're crowded in by events going on at the pavilion at the park this weekend.
It is still below 90* yet but may tip over the notch before it is done. So much nicer than 100+ of yesterday and beyond though. I'll take it.

It is hot here also...we had a nasty thunder/lightning storm while we were shopping. Everything was flooded...we had to pull over from the heavy rain because we couldn't see through the windshield. We were storm stuck in our car for an hour, thankfully I had snacks and a book for GG to calm her down. She was terrified and telling me to take her home lol

I have a wedding to attend this weekend, my Aunt's DD. She is planning on a ceremony at the beach. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Poor GG. I am sorry she is so afraid of storms. BUT truth be told I am not a fan either.

YAY for weddings..well YAY if there is good cake !!! (I am a BIG fan of Wedding cake.) I hope the weather cooperates.

I am glad you have Jonni to help you, Tina...that is a good thing indeed.

I had a craving for a steak. I cooked two ribeyes tonight and Jonni was shocked about how easy it was. I haven't cooked a regular steak for years. Partly because of the price, partly through lack of interest. I mostly cook london broil because we like it sliced for sandwiches after.
Now I'm sleepy.
Sweet dreams all.

OH MY< I am envious. I simply LOVE ribeyes. They are my favorite steak in the world. I usually end up buying the thin sliced ribeyes as I can get enough to feed the both of us for the price it would take to feed one of us if I bought the regularly sliced ones.

I think it may be raining now. I am going to check & then I am headed to bed....

sweet dreams from me as well..

Supper is done and I have transplanted a prayer plant from a "Marie Funeral Planter" for my Valarie. I used a blue pot that used to belong to Marie. So, now I am waiting for it to get a bit cooler so I can go out & water my plants. Sadly I did not water last night b/c it was supposed to rain last night/today & did not. So I will water tonight & you watch, it will rain heavily tonight & tomorrow..oh well, so be it....my plants are thirsty....
